縄文杉半日＋白谷雲水峡半日（太鼓岩まで） 2大トレッキングコースを日帰りで！ by 屋久島の輪

It was a 24 km trekking tour from Jomon Sugi to Taiko Rock to Shiratani Unsuikyo.
We were guided along the entrance while walking the trolley path, enjoying the highlights.
On the way there, we fully enjoyed the unique cedars in nature, and we had a private moment at the Wilson stump, taking plenty of photos.
It was great to see Jomon Sugi before it got crowded.
On the way back, while climbing Tsujitoge, we were able to see wild monkeys and deer up close, which was a rare experience.
We were also introduced to a location that inspired a Studio Ghibli work along the way, adding to the sense of value in the experience.
We were blessed with good weather, so the view from Taiko Rock was amazing.
The area between Taiko Rock and Shiratani Unsuikyo had fresh greenery and streams, and the green illuminated by the light from the shade of the trees was beautiful.
I also enjoyed the return trip from Shiratani Unsuikyo.
I imagined that a long trek might be tough, but both the way there and the return were filled with excitement as we enjoyed the sights.
It may be greedy, but I think it was three times more enjoyable.

天候に恵まれたので､太鼓岩からの景色は最高でした
太鼓岩から白谷雲水峡は新緑も沢もあり､涼しく
木陰からの光に生える緑が綺麗でした
白谷雲水峡からの帰り道も楽しめました
長時間のﾄﾚｯｷﾝｸﾞは大変かなと想像していましたが
行きも抜け道も帰りも､見所を満喫しているﾜｸﾜｸ感で
欲張りだけど､3倍楽しめると思います

We set off from the lodge in the early hours before dawn, and the tour began with us having breakfast while still half-asleep. I was anxious about my first trekking experience, but the guide frequently checked in with us and carefully considered our pace, making it easy for beginners to climb with confidence. Along the way, we took breaks to hydrate at a spring and, if we had time on the way down, we could go down to the river to ice our feet, providing a truly unique experience. Trekking while enjoying the scenery from "Princess Mononoke" took a total of 11 hours round trip, but it felt like no time at all! When I saw Jomon Sugi, I felt an indescribable sense of accomplishment!

夜も明けきらぬ時間帯に宿を出発し、寝ぼけ眼で朝食を食べることからツアーが始まりました。はじめてのトレッキングで不安でしたが、ガイドさんがこまめに声をかけてきてくれて、ペース配分もしっかり考えてくれるので、はじめての方は安心して登ることができます。途中、水が湧いているスポットで水分補給したり、下山途中に時間がある場合は川に降りて足をアイシングするなど、非日常的な体験をすることができました。「もののけ姫」の風景を楽しみながらのトレッキングは往復で11時間かかったけれど、あっという間でした！縄文杉を見たときは、なんとも言えない達成感でしたね！

It was my first trip to Yakushima. I was torn between the Jomon Sugi course and the Shiratani Unsuikyo course, but I found a course that allows you to experience both in one day. I was a bit anxious about trekking from 4 AM to 6 PM, but thanks to our guide, I was able to enjoy the forest of Yakushima, where the Kodama (tree spirits) are said to reside. I took a lot of photos and created wonderful memories! If I go to Yakushima again, I would love to request the same guide. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

初めての屋久島旅行でした。縄文杉コースか白谷白雲峡コースか迷っていたところ、この2コースを1日で回れるコースを見つけました。4時から18時にかけてトレッキングをするのは不安でしたが、ガイドさんのお陰でこだまのいる屋久島の森を味わうことができました。たくさん写真を撮って頂き、素敵な思い出ができました！また屋久島で行くのであれば同じガイドさんにお願いしたいです。素敵なありがとうございました！！

The day before it rained, so I was worried about the weather, but luckily it only drizzled. Moreover, because of that, there was a rainbow in the view from Taiko Rock! Waking up at four in the morning and walking for nearly half a day was quite tough, but it was worth it.

It was drizzling, but I had a great time! 小雨だったけど楽しめました！

On the day I participated, it was raining from the morning, but in the forest, the trees acted like umbrellas, so I didn't feel it much. The guide was considerate and tried to show us good views, but in the end, we couldn't see anything from Taiko Rock due to the fog. However, it felt like we got to see a rare sight, and it was a lot of fun. The Shiratani Unsuikyo in the rain was nice too, with clear air, but I want to come back for a revenge visit on a sunny day next time.

参加した日は朝から雨が降っていましたが、森の中では木が傘の役割を果たしてくれてあまり感じませんでした。ガイドさんは良い景色を見せようと配慮してくださって、結局太鼓岩からは霧で何も見えませんでしたが、逆にレアな景色が見れたようでとても楽しかったです。雨の白谷雲水峡も空気が澄んでいて良かったですが、次は晴れている日にリベンジしたいです。

I participated in this tour because I couldn't rent a car while traveling alone. Since it was a weekday, there were few participants, which allowed for a relaxed experience. What I found very good was the freedom to move around almost freely at the destination. As long as you don't miss the meeting time, it's fine. You don't have to match the pace of others. The meals were also luxurious at the resort area.

I was truly satisfied. However, I would be happy if there were a dedicated tour for those who want to spend more time at Daishi Forest Mountain.

1人旅で、レンタカー借りれないので参加しました。平日ともあり、参加人数も少なくのびのびできました。とても良いと思ったのは、現地ではほぼ自由に動ける事。待ち合わせ時間に遅れなければ大丈夫。周りに合わせなくて良いです。食事もリゾート地で豪華でした。
本当に満足できました。
ただ、大石林山にゆっくりしたいので、専用のツアーがあれば嬉しいです

The Jomon Sugi, which has been a dream of mine since Yakushima became a World Heritage site, was finally within reach for us this time. However, my husband and I are already in our 50s, and the thought of a 22 km, 11-hour trek was daunting, especially since we don't have a regular exercise routine. But when I inquired by phone beforehand, the woman from the tour company was incredibly kind and friendly, which gave me confidence that this tour was the right choice.

On the day of the tour, our guide, Komano, was attentive to all the members, regardless of their age or physical ability. Each of the eight members felt safe and relaxed, allowing us to enjoy the long and challenging journey. I am truly grateful to Komano, our strong and reliable guide, as well as to the younger participants. Their cheerful conversations and singing encouraged us, helping us to overcome the tough parts of the trek. I believe that if even one of them had been missing, my husband and I would not have been able to meet our long-awaited Jomon Sugi. I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks.

I participated on September 16th. In the morning, we visited the Shiretoko Five Lakes, and in the afternoon, we went trekking in the Shiretoko Forest.
At the Shiretoko Five Lakes, we were able to see bear footprints and claw marks, and we received detailed explanations about the plants. It was a very fulfilling trekking experience, as the explanations added so much more than just walking and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
The afternoon trek towards the cliffs was also enjoyable, as we followed paths that felt like animal trails, adding to the sense of adventure. Taking a break on the rocky area while gazing at the Sea of Okhotsk was incredibly refreshing.
Our guide was very pleasant, and I had a fun day. Thank you very much.

9/16に参加させていただきました。午前中は知床五湖、午後は知床の森トレッキングに行きました。
知床五湖ではヒグマの足跡や爪跡を見ることができ、植物の詳しい説明などを聞きました。ただ綺麗な景色を見て歩くだけよりも、説明していただくことでとても充実したトレッキングになりました。
午後の断崖絶壁を目指すトレッキングも、獣道のようなところを辿り、冒険気分で楽しめました。途中、オホーツク海を眺める岩場で休憩したのが大変気持ちよかったです。

While there were points of explanation, it was disappointing that we couldn't stop to take in the surrounding scenery and had to walk in a line of eight without pause. However, I understood that if we didn't do this, we wouldn't have enough time at Jomon Sugi and wouldn't make it back in time for the bus. Our feet, which were not used to walking, were crying out, and we ended up taking too many breaks. If we had gone individually, I definitely think we would have missed the last bus!

ポイントで説明はあるものの、周辺の景色を立ち止まって見ることは叶わず黙々と8人一列で歩くのが残念でした。でも、そうしなければせっかくの縄文杉の所で時間をとれなくなったり、バスの時間に間に合うように戻って来れないんだとわかりましたが。歩く習慣がない悲鳴をあげていた足の私達は休み過ぎてしまい、個人で行ってたら絶対、最終バスに乗れなかったと思います！

Since both my friend and I were beginners at trekking, we decided to join a tour this time, and it was definitely the right choice. Trekking while listening to the guide's explanations was incredibly beneficial, and although it was tough, I think I would have given up if I had gone alone (laughs). I boldly decided to ignore school in September and joined my parents on their off-season summer vacation. As a result, it was great. I would like to mention three main points: first, the prompt and appropriate email responses before participation, and the timely pick-up from the accommodation. I believe this reflects a well-organized structure. Next, the guide provided thorough explanations about Yakushima, which was very educational. It became a valuable experience for both me and my child, as we learned knowledge and experiences we were previously unaware of. The discussions went beyond just the cedars along the route, covering geology, plant distribution, and history. Lastly, the guide appropriately addressed the dangerous areas and changes in condition for my physically weaker 11-year-old son over the long duration of the one-night, two-day trip. My child said the guide was like Superman, and I felt the same way. I believe reaching Jomon Sugi without the guide would have been impossible. Thank you very much for your support.

思い切って9月に学校の存在を無視して、親の季節はずれの夏休みに付き合わせる形で参加しました。
　結果、良かったです。大きく３つほど申し上げますと、まず参加前からメールでの返信が迅速で適切であること・宿への迎えが時間に正確であったことです。これは組織としてしっかりしているからだと思いました。次にガイドさんが丁寧に屋久島の説明をしてくれて非常に勉強になったことです。自分の知らない知識や経験を教えていただける、私と子供にとって貴重な経験となりました。ルートにある杉の話にとどまらず、地質や植物の分布、歴史に及ぶものでした。最後の点はやはり、体力的に弱い11歳男児にとっての危険箇所や体調の変化を、１泊2日の長時間にわたり適切に対応していただいたガイドさんは、子供はスーパーマンみたいだと言ってましたし、私もそのように感じました。ガイドさんなしでの１泊2日縄文杉到達はあり得なかったと思います。本当にお世話になり、ありがとうございました。

I participated in a solo trip. Since I don't usually exercise, I was quite nervous before going. The day after visiting Jomon Sugi, I signed up for the Taiko Rock course. In hindsight, it was the right decision to do it in this order. The Hakusan Unsuikyo is shorter in distance than Jomon Sugi, so it felt easier. The moss-covered forest was absolutely wonderful, and the view from Taiko Rock was breathtaking. Personally, I prefer this course over Jomon Sugi. For those who are unsure about going to Taiko Rock, I definitely think you should go! Also, the guide was very knowledgeable about plants and incredibly kind, and I'm glad I signed up for the tour!

I participated in a Jomon Sugi trekking tour. While it's possible to go on your own, I signed up for the tour because the guide shared various stories along the monotonous trolley path, making the trekking experience enjoyable. However, this guide, while providing explanations at key points, was clearly different from other tour guides I observed. His explanations were brief, and he remained silent while we walked. He did take some photos, but it felt somewhat casual. Other guides seemed to have much more fun tours, while ours was just a quiet walk. I regretted not going on my own. Since you can't choose your guide, I don't think I'll rely on this company again.

The walk to the destination was very slow, but the return was quick. I thought, "Guide, could we have a little more break, please?" However, I was impressed that no one fell behind and we all made it back to the bus on time. Since the walk there was slow, by the time we arrived, other groups had already started descending, which was nice because it was less crowded.

I encountered deer and monkeys among the six species originally on the island. On the way back, it rained quite a bit, but the misty Jomon Sugi was very mystical and majestic.

Thanks to our guide's humorous stories and encouragement, we were able to complete the 11-hour tour safely. Of course, I was tired, but the sense of achievement is something you can only understand by taking on the challenge. It became an unforgettable memory. We were blessed with good weather, and it was great that all team members returned safely, but I did think that having eight people in the team was a bit much. I felt the charm of Yakushima and became interested in other tours and activities, so I returned hoping to visit Yakushima again. The direct bus was very convenient, especially on the way back. My first mountain climbing experience. I was anxious since I was traveling alone as a woman, but the guide helped by pacing us slowly. Additionally, I was able to climb lightly by leaving my luggage along the way, which helped conserve my energy. When I actually went, I found that I really loved the mountains in Shiratani Unsuikyo more than Jomon Sugi, so it was a great decision to be greedy. If you only go to Jomon Sugi, you'll just see a long trolley path and a lot of cedar trees. It's a long course, but there are tourist spots along the way, so it doesn't get boring. If you walk slowly and without rushing, you can conserve your stamina. The Shiratani Unsuikyo to Jomon Sugi course avoids the crowds of climbers on the Jomon Sugi-only course. This way, you can climb at your own pace, and there was hardly any waiting for photos or restrooms. I definitely recommend beginners to go with a guide. They teach you about Yakushima's history and more, which is educational, and you really get to appreciate the beauty of Yakushima's nature, which is moving. I can't stay long, but...

The guide provides in-depth explanations about the characteristics of plants, traces left by animals, and the unique environment of Shiretoko while taking you on a leisurely trek. Without hearing about things like the claw marks left by bears on tree trunks or the water plantain that has been dug up, you might walk past them without noticing. Additionally, they offer rentals for rubber boots and binoculars, so you can walk through muddy areas with confidence and observe birds as well. On the primeval forest course, I was able to see a white-tailed eagle through binoculars from the cliffs. Of course, the views of the sky, sea, and cliffs were amazing. I also encountered a mother deer and her fawn up close. The course itself is not too steep, so you can enjoy it with peace of mind. There were even elementary school children participating.

I participated with my daughter. Since I was the oldest at 50 years old among the other two girls and five guides, I worked hard not to be a burden to everyone (laughs). The trek from Shiratani to Jomon Sugi and back was quite tough, but thanks to the guide saving the detour to Taiko Rock for the end, I was able to finish on a high note. My knees were at their limit, and I barely made it to the goal. Mentally, I felt I could still go on, but my body was at its limit; my daughter felt physically fine but was mentally exhausted (laughs). I would have retired if it had rained even a little. The pleasant breeze was on my side, and I felt like I was called by Jomon Sugi (laughs).

For over 12 hours, the guide kept talking, which made the walk enjoyable and kept us from getting bored. Thank you for the fun stories. Thanks to the various quizzes about Princess Mononoke, even though I’ve never seen it, I’m looking forward to renting the DVD and watching it while recalling the guide's stories.

娘と二人で参加させてもらいました。他の二人の女の子、ガイドさん5人の中で最年長50才の自分だったので皆さんに迷惑がかからないように頑張りました(笑)白谷in→縄文杉→白谷outはかなりキツかったのですが、往路にあえて外した太鼓岩を最後に残しておいて下さったおかげで、最高な気分で終えることができました。ひざが限界で本当にギリギリのゴールでした。自分は精神的にはまだまだいけたのですが体が限界、娘は体はまだまだいけるが精神的に限界(笑)自分は、ちょっとでも雨が降ったらリタイヤでしたね。気持ちの良い風も味方してくれたりして、自分は縄文杉に呼ばれたんだなと実感しています(笑)
12時間以上の長い間、ガイドさんが終始お話してくれて、飽きることなく歩き続けられました。楽しいお話ありがとうございました。もののけ姫のいろいろなクイズのおかげで、もののけ姫をみたことがない自分ですがDVDをレンタルしてガイドさんのお話を思い出しながら観るのが楽しみです。
今回は滞在時間の関係で縄文杉と白谷雲水峡を１日でというツアーを選択しましが2回目は別々かな(笑)または荒川口in→縄文杉→白谷outとか(笑)太鼓岩は最後にとっておきたいので。
体力に自信のある方には是非、参加してほしいツアーコースだと思います。in&out白谷は最高の思い出になりますが覚悟して(笑)参加して下さいね。ただ、ガイドさんが参加者の状況でoutを荒川口にするか白谷にするか決めてくださいます。相談してみて下さいね。

This was my first experience with trekking, and the guide adjusted the pace to match ours, allowing us to enjoy it without any strain. When I first booked this tour, I thought the price was a bit high, but now that it's over, I actually think it was quite affordable. It was that satisfying of a tour.

Since we stayed overnight, we were able to enjoy the highlights without overlapping with the day-trippers, and we got to see the Jomon Sugi at sunrise, which is something you can only experience by staying overnight. The starry sky, the Milky Way, and shooting stars in the mountains were breathtaking!

I didn't expect much from the meals since we were in the mountains, but the quality was surprisingly high, with warm and delicious curry made from spices, and they even prepared drinks for us despite the weight. It felt like the guide's bag was a fourth-dimensional pocket, as he pulled out everything we needed. (laughs)

Additionally, the guide listened to our requests for photos with the Kodama from "Princess Mononoke" and Ashitaka, and took many beautiful pictures for us! I often use optional tours when I travel, but the staff usually tries to sell the photos for a considerable amount at the end of the tour. However, the guide provided over a hundred photos and sent them to us for free via AirDrop at the end. Thank you so much!!!

　トレッキング初体験での参加となりましたが、ガイドさんがペースに合わせて下さり無理なく楽しく終えることができました。
　今回のツアーで最初予約するとき、少し値段が高いかな？と思ってしまいましたが、ツアーを終えた今、むしろ安かったと思っています。それくらい大満足のツアーでした。
　泊りで行く分、日帰り組の人達と被らずに見どころを独り占めかのように見れましたし、中でも朝焼けの縄文杉を見れたりと、泊りでしか経験できない山の姿を見ることができました。
　山の中で見る星空、天の川、流れ星。。感動しました！
　食事も山の中だからと期待していなかったのですが、山の中とは思えないほどのクオリティで温かくておいしいスパイスから作ったカレーなど頂くことができ、重たいのにお酒までご準備してくれていました。四次元ポケットじゃないかと思うくらいガイドさんの鞄からは何でも出てきます。笑
　その他にも私達が家から持参したもののけ姫のこだまや、アシタカと写真が撮りたいと言うリクエストも聞いて下さり綺麗な写真を沢山撮ってくださいました！私は旅行時こういったオプションツアーはよく利用していますが、いつもスタッフさんが撮ってくれる写真はツアー終了時に結構な金額で売りつけてきます。しかしこれは今回お世話になったガイドさんのサービスだと思いますが、百枚を超える数の写真を終了時AirDropで無料で送って来てくれました。本当にありがとうございます！！！

Cape Hedo, the northernmost point, was dynamic and absolutely wonderful. At the Oishi Forest, I was moved to find an Okinawa lizard, feeling the beauty of nature. Although it's hot and I tend to think of marine sports as the main activity, I highly recommend trekking while sweating, with the expansive view of the ocean.

最北端の地、辺戸岬はダイナミックで最高に良かったです。大石林山では、オキナワトカゲを見つけて、自然だなぁと感動しました。暑いのでマリンスポーツがメインに考えてしまいますが、汗をかきながらのトレッキング、大きく広がる海の景色はお勧めです。ー

I was picked up at the inn at 4:30 AM and took a private bus to the Arakawa trailhead. Since there was no need to transfer to a shuttle bus, I was able to take a nap. We had breakfast at the trailhead, did some stretching, and then started our hike. I was really anxious about my first trekking experience at Jomon Sugi, but the guide helped with pacing and timing, and taught us stretching methods, so I just had to do my best to keep up, and I was able to reach Jomon Sugi safely. The miso soup we had for lunch was very delicious.

Taking a break by dipping my feet in the river on the way back was truly refreshing and felt great. My legs were sore for a few days, but I got to see Jomon Sugi, Yakushima monkeys, and Yakushima deer, making it a wonderful memory for my summer vacation. Thank you, guide Ide!

朝四時半に宿に迎えに来ていただいて専用バスで荒川登山口へ。シャトルバスに乗り換える必要がないので仮眠できました。登山口で朝食をとり、ストレッチをして登山開始です。人生初のトレッキングが縄文杉で本当に行ってこれるのか不安でしたが、ガイドさんがペース配分、時間配分してくれるし、ストレッチの方法なども教えて下さるので頑張ってついていくだけで、無事縄文杉にたどりつけました。昼食に出していただいたお味噌汁はとってもおいしかったです。
帰り道での川に足をつけての休憩はホントにリフレッシュでき、気持ちよかったです。
足は筋肉痛になって数日大変でしたが、縄文杉や屋久猿、屋久鹿もみれたし、夏休みのいい思い出になりました。ガイドの井手さんありがとうございました！
