It was a truly once-in-a-lifetime memorable trip. We stopped the boat at the shooting spots about twice, and it was amazing to have around 10 to 15 minutes to take photos after going up to the upper deck! Since our accommodation was right next to JR Nara Station, we could easily get to the meeting point (bus stop). It was my first time in Nishi no Kyo, and I thought it would be a bit challenging to visit all the sites using public transportation, so I decided to join the tour, and it was definitely the right choice. Although I had seen Eisa before, I had never experienced it, so I decided to give it a try. Even though I made a reservation at the last minute the day before, I was warmly welcomed.
First, we put on the costumes, and after learning about the origins and key points, the instructors kindly and patiently guided us, a senior couple with poor rhythm, to dance Eisa to the music. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the experience.
I also felt that the instructors were friendly and easy to talk to, which added to the positive experience. This became a wonderful memory of our trip to Okinawa. I think I will challenge myself to try it again next time.
