I live in Kyoto and often have the opportunity to visit Gion and the geisha districts. This time, a friend from out of town wanted to meet a maiko, but since a real okiya experience costs several hundred thousand yen, I made a reservation for a beginner-friendly option. Surprisingly, the maiko's dance, the tea ceremony, and the traditional games were all very enjoyable and highly recommended for first-timers. Plus, it's affordable, so feel free to give it a try!

The pillar was in the way.
I arrived a bit early and got in at the top, but there were already attendees from the previous program, and we ended up on the side. Additionally, the front seats required an extra fee. We also ended up with a group of students who stood right in front of us while we were sitting. Of course, there was no warning.

また、少し早めに行ってトップで入りましたが、すでに前のプログラム入場者がいて、端の方になり、前の席は別途料金がいりました。また、学生の集団と一緒になってしまい、私たちが座ってる目の前で立たれました。もちろん、注意はありませんでした。。

It was very good.
I have experienced private dinners with maiko several times, but this option tour was excellent.
The sunset in Arashiyama was beautiful, the maiko were adorable, and the garden of the restaurant after the rain was very beautiful as well.
It was a tour that felt very reasonably priced.

舞妓さんと貸し切り夕食など、何回か経験しましたが今回のオプションツアーはとても良かったです。
夕暮れの嵐山も良かったし、舞妓さんも可愛かったですし雨上がりの夜の料亭のお庭もとても美しかったです。
とても割安感のあるツアーでした。

The location was easy to miss at first, but the staff welcomed us, so we found it. The first floor is the shop, and we had our experience on the second floor. Since it was a weekday afternoon and there were few participants, we received careful and thorough instruction. While practicing, we were able to take our time with design and glass selection without feeling rushed, which made it easier.

As it was my first experience, I thought I might not be able to achieve the design I envisioned with my skills, and I made a few mistakes along the way. However, when I asked the instructor for help with corrections, they managed to cover up my errors.

There were various things that caught my attention when viewed up close, but for a first attempt, I was quite satisfied with what I created, and I would love to try it again if I have the opportunity.

場所は一瞬通り過ぎてもおかしくないくらいの所でしたけど、お店の方がお出迎えしてくれてたのでわかりました。１階がお店で2階で体験させて貰いましたが、平日の昼間で参加者が少なかった事もあり、ゆっくり丁寧に教えて貰いました。練習もそうですけど、デザインとかグラス選びも焦らされることもなくアドバイスだけ頂けてやりやすかったです。
初めての体験で自分の技術では、やっぱり思ったようなデザインにできないかもとか思いましたし、途中少し失敗もしましたが、修正を先生に頼んだら、私のミスも何とかごまかせました。
近くで見たら色々気になる所もありますが、初めてにしては結構納得できるものができたし、機会があればまたやってみたいです。

During our honeymoon trip to Okinawa, we participated in a cruise. For dessert, we were able to take photos to celebrate our newlywed status, and we received those photos as well! It was such a luxurious experience (*´ｰ`*). The sunset was also incredibly beautiful, and I was captivated by it. I would love to use this service again when I visit Okinawa!

新婚旅行で沖縄に行った際にクルーズに参加させていただきました。
デザートでは、新婚のお祝いとともにお写真も撮っていただき、そのお写真もいただけました！とても贅沢な経験をさせていただきました(*´ｰ`*)
サンセットもとても綺麗で、見とれてしまいました。

This was a great experience for crafters of all ages. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about their materials, and very receptive to be asked about procedures. There's a tablet with Google Translate available on-hand to help move through any language bumps, and staff was incredibly accommodating towards all levels of Japanese proficiency. I definitely plan to bring english-only friends back here on a future trip.

Previously, I had a kiriko experience at a different shop, but it didn't go well, and I was quite disappointed. This time, I decided to take revenge and try again. Perhaps because it was a different shop, I was able to do much better than last time, and I successfully achieved my revenge, creating the best piece! ✨

以前、違うお店の切子体験をやりましたが、上手くいかず残念な思いをし、今回、リベンジで再挑戦しました。
お店が違うからか、前回より思うように出来て、無事リベンジを果たし最高の作品が出来ました✨

Although there were only a few clear skies and we couldn't see the sunset, there was a live performance of flute and singing, making it a lovely and intimate cruise. It felt like we shared in the happiness of celebrating a couple's birthday.

晴れ間は僅かで、夕日は見れませんでしたが、フルートと歌の生演奏があり、しっとりとした素敵なクルーズになりました。誕生日のカップルを祝ったりなんだか幸せを分けてもらった感じでした。

It was a super fun experience. the staff super super nice and very friendly. We loved the experience!! They can speak english but if you are learning japanese, they will mixed but they know how to explain super well. Also they explain you the history about the fake food and they have also some shop with jewelry....

Fun and family friendly workshop! Hosts were friendly and provided clear and easy instruction. Would love to take another workshop in the future.

This time, we had a one-day tour course in the heavy rain caused by the typhoon during this season. It was a bit tough for the elderly. However, thanks to the kind assistance of the guide and driver, as well as the friendly atmosphere among the fellow travelers, we were able to enjoy the day fully even in the heavy rain. It had been a long time since my last visit to Nara (maybe several decades?), and I made some wonderful memories. On the final return day, June 3rd, the Shinkansen stopped in the morning and resumed service in the afternoon with significant delays, making it a trip that was memorable in many ways.

Since this was a two-night, three-day course, there are still places I want to visit, and I am considering returning to enjoy Nara again. I would like to use the regular sightseeing bus during that visit as well.

いやはやこの時期の台風影響で大雨の中での1日周遊コース。年寄りにはやや厳しいコースでした。ただガイド・運転手さんの親切な応対や同乗した人々の和やかな雰囲気で大雨の中でも1日充分に楽しめました。奈良には久々（数十年ぶりかな？）の来訪でよい思い出ができました。最終の帰省日の6/3はam新幹線ストップpm運転再開も大幅遅延、色々な意味で思いで深い旅行でした。
今回は2泊3日コースでしたので行き残している場所もあるので改めて訪問し再び奈良を堪能したいと考えています。その際にも定期観光バスを利用したいと考えています。

The staff was attentive and provided solid support for the patterns I wanted. It was a rewarding and memorable experience. I was even happier that they were considerate enough to help with the photos after completion.

スタッフさんが丁寧で、やりたい柄をしっかりサポートしてくれました。やりがいがあり思い出に残る体験になりました。完成後の撮影まで気を遣ってくれていてより嬉しかったです。

I arrived a little early, but thank you for your assistance. Since it was just us, we were able to take our time and enjoy the experience.

Great interactions with staff in a simple, fun environment!

We had a lovely time at this workshop. It was very beginner friendly, and the assistant's English was fantastic. She walked us through each step, and we had ample practice opportunity before starting to on our own pieces. I would highly recommend this workshop!

I had an experience at the same shop about a year ago. This time, I wanted to create something in a different color, so I participated again. The instructor was very attentive, but it was still quite difficult, and time flew by. I went in with the intention of making something with the same design, but I once again realized the challenges of Edo Kiriko. Nevertheless, it was a fun experience, and I would like to visit again.

一年位前に同じお店で体験をしました。今回は色違いのものをつくりたくて、再度体験しました。丁寧に教えていただきましたが、やはり難しく、時間はあっという間です。同じデザインのものをつくるつもりで意気込んでいきましたが、改めて江戸切子の難しさを実感しました。それでも楽しい経験です。また伺いたいと思います。

The staff were very kind and taught me patiently! There was a wide variety, and the timing was just right, so I was very satisfied.

When choosing a kimono, I received advice on coordinating the colors of the obi and accessories. I chose a kimono with a simple pattern, but the obi was tied in an elaborate way, making it more vibrant. If I have the opportunity to visit Shuzenji Onsen again, I would like to use your services. 着物を選ぶ際、帯や小物の色合わせにもアドバイスをいただきました。私はシンプルな柄の着物を選びましたが、帯締めを凝った形に結んでいただき、華やかになりました。いつかまた修善寺温泉に行く機会あれば利用させていただきたいです。ありがとうございました！

I was able to choose a very cute kimono from a lot of options (﹡ˆᴗˆ﹡). The two women dressed me quickly and beautifully! I was very satisfied because I could take plenty of photos during the one-hour stroll♪ It was a great experience and created wonderful memories♡

Although it was Golden Week, it wasn't a public holiday, so it was relatively quiet. There were just the right amount of visitors. The tour course was well-structured, not too busy or too lengthy, just right. Fortunately, the weather was excellent.

There was also time for lunch, as well as tea and traditional sweets. The guide was very knowledgeable and a great speaker. Everything was wonderful.

GWとは言え旗日ではなかったから、比較的空いてました。程よく見学者が来てた、という感じ。見学コースは過不足ない筋立てで、忙しくなく冗長でもなく、丁度良かった。天気は最高だったのは幸いでした。
お昼も、お茶と和菓子の時間もありました。ガイドさんは凄く詳しくお話し上手でした。すべて良かったです。

I participated with my daughter.
It was my first experience with Edo Kiriko, and although I was nervous, the instructions were very thorough, and I had a great time.
Before attempting my own glass, I was able to practice with a sample glass, choose the shape and color I liked, and select the pattern myself, making it a very fulfilling experience.

I've already started using the finished glass that I brought home yesterday, and I really love it.

I would like to participate again if I have the chance.

初めての江戸切子体験♪ドキドキでしたがご丁寧に説明してくださり、とっても楽しかったです。
自分のグラスに挑戦する前に練習用のグラスで試させていただけたり、好みのグラスの形や色を選べたり、柄も本人次第で選ぶことができ、とても充実した体験レッスンでした。

出来上がったグラス、持ち帰った昨日から早速使っています♪とても気に入りました。

At first, I was very nervous, but once I got the hang of it, I was able to do it smoothly. Although I ended up with a hole, I am satisfied with my work. I want to challenge myself with a different pattern next time.

It was my first experience on a traditional houseboat, which I had always dreamed of. It was a bit chilly, but it was really great. The number of passengers and the duration were just right, and I enjoyed the scenery. The tempura was amazing!

憧れの屋形船初体験でした。少し肌寒い季節でしたが、とてもよかったです。定員数も所要時間もちょうどよく、景色も楽しめました。てんぷら最高でした！

The streets of Shuzenji and the kimono matched perfectly, and I was able to take a lot of photos and receive compliments from those around me. I had a really enjoyable time! Choosing the kimono was also fun! The staff were kind, and they helped me get dressed quickly while we chatted. Thank you very much! I will definitely use your services again when I visit Shuzenji. Next time, I would like to try a kimono that looks completely different from this one.

It was a perfectly enjoyable experience in a good way! It lasted about 30 minutes to an hour, and it was neither too difficult nor too easy to the point of being boring; I had a lot of fun. The person who taught us shared various stories, so I was never bored during the short waiting times.

良い意味でちょうどよい体験でした！
30分〜1時間ほどで体験でき、難しくて失敗することもなく、簡単すぎてつまらないということもなく、とても楽しかったです。
教えてくださった方が色んな話をしてくれるので、ちょっとした待ち時間も飽きずに過ごせました。

Ended up at wrong location. So didn’t have my lesson. Had many messages and knew of change of address but patchy wifi meant I didn’t receive all the information - the last one had misleading address details. Am sure it would have been a fabulous experience.

Since it was a weekday, I was able to experience it with a small group. The instruction was thorough and easy to understand. I really enjoyed it. Thank you very much.
