I wanted my 3-year-old child to experience harvesting in a field, and since the impact of COVID-19 seemed minimal, we decided to go for a leisure outing after a long time! My child had a great time harvesting eggplants with scissors, picking shiso leaves, and pulling up carrots.

Although we didn't have a BBQ, we ended up bringing home quite a lot of vegetables! We filled two bags we received at the start to the brim, so it was a substantial amount. I love shiso leaves, so I picked a lot of them. The only downside was that the potatoes and corn were not in good condition.

When we made fresh vegetable tempura for dinner, it was incredibly sweet and delicious! My child kept saying how tasty it was, probably because they picked the vegetables themselves, and they devoured the red bell peppers!

The staff members accompanied us one by one, allowing us to harvest while receiving explanations. We usually go on trips to the sea far away, but I'm glad we tried this experience for the first time.

Canceled strawberry picking portion before the tour even started.

As soon as we got on the bus they told us the strawberry picking portion would be canceled. I understand the roads are busy because of golden week but since this is the time when the flowers are in bloom the tour company should know that and take that into account when planning the tour stops and not advertise it as one of the main parts of the tour. It was really disappointing. They gave us 1000 yen back for that but I don’t don’t think this tour was worth it without the strawberry picking. Ashikaga Park is actually externally accessible via train and the hitachi park has buses you could take instead. Even though there was a canceled portion things still felt rushed.

This was a good tour. However, the flowers at both attractions was not in full bloom which was disappointing. The Wisteria was only 20% in bloom. I was disappointed because that was what I really wanted to see. I think that the tour company should let it be known so people can decide if they still want to book the tours. I would not have booked if I had know these facts. This would be a good tour if the flowers were in full bloom. Also, it is a very long day. 11 hours!!. The tour guide Hiro was amazing!

I went grape picking for the first time! I was instructed to go to Shibahisaen at the information center. It was easy since I paid with a credit card. I chose the course where I could eat Steuben and Honey Seedless grapes. I had never tried either before, but the Honey Seedless was easier to eat since it had no seeds and was delicious! There were also things for the kids to play with, and releasing baby koi into the river was fun too. I would love to visit again!

We were guided to a Malta garden with an athletic course, and we enjoyed not only grape picking but also the athletic activities.
The swings were really fun, as others have mentioned, and we had to wait our turn. The kids, who have grown a bit, were able to challenge themselves with various play equipment for over an hour.
The vehicle modified from a tractor also looked like a lot of fun.
You can see the grapes through the gaps in the bag, so you can choose delicious-looking grapes. After eating two bunches, I was already full. They also sold chips, and I enjoyed alternating them with the Korean seaweed I brought.

At the site, the owner couple was already working in the fields. We planted corn seedlings, harvested broccoli, and finished by receiving some green onions.

What caught my eye were the strange items in the field. A beer can stuck near the broccoli seedlings and a windmill made from a plastic bottle. These are all clever ways to protect crops from insects and birds, reflecting the love of the owner couple who grow their crops while coexisting with nature without using pesticides.

After planting the seedlings, the broccoli we harvested was not what we usually see in supermarkets. It was the small broccoli that grows on the side. In fact, farmers harvest the large broccoli that grows on each plant for shipping, and then they eat the side shoots as home use. Once there’s nothing left to eat, they return it to the earth to make fertilizer.

Through this experience, I was able to touch upon the ingenuity of farmers and their gentle hearts. I hope children can also participate, feel gratitude for the blessings of the earth, and experience the love of farmers who live in harmony with nature.

現場では、すでにオーナー夫婦が畑仕事をされていて、私たちはとうもろこしの苗植え、ブロッコリーの収穫をし、最後はわけぎを頂き終了でした。

目を引いたのは畑にあった不思議なもの。ブロッコリーの苗近くに刺さったビール缶、ペットボトルで作った風車です。これらはいづれも虫や鳥から農作物を守る工夫で、農薬を使わず自然と共存しながら作物を育てるオーナー夫婦の愛情を感じました。

苗植えのあと、収穫させていただいたブロッコリーは私たちがスーパーで見かけるものではありません。脇にでてくる小さなブロッコリーです。実は、農家では、一株に一つできる大きなブロッコリーを収穫し、出荷したあと横から出てくるわき芽を家庭用として食べるとのことです。そして食べるところがなくなったら大地に戻し肥料にするのです。

この体験を通して農家の工夫や、優しい心に触れることができました。子供たちにも是非参加し、大地の恵みを頂く感謝、自然と寄り添う農家の愛情を体感して何か感じてもらいたいと思います。

The grapes were magnificent, likely worth around 1000 yen at the supermarket, and they were incredibly sweet and tasty. I was determined to eat a lot, but they were so big that one bunch filled me up; however, I managed to eat three bunches.

巨峰狩りしてきました。まぁ見事な美味しいぶどうがこれでもか、というほどたわわに実っていて、大勢の家族連れがその下でござにお弁当を広げている光景は、なんというか日本のくつろぎ方、憩い、という感じでとてもほっとする空間でした。ぶどうはスーパーなら1000円クラスなんじゃないかと思う立派なぶどうでほんとにほんとに甘くておいしかったです。たくさん食べるぞ！と意気込んでいきましたがおっきいので一房でお腹いっぱい、でも3房食べてきました。

私たちはマルタ園という園だったのですが、ぶどう以外にも遊びの仕掛けが多く、山を利用したアスレチックに子供たちも大はしゃぎ！木につないだブランコは大人もきゃ～とはしゃぐほどダイナミックで楽しかったです。

I went grape picking and playing by the river! There were fish, and it was so much fun to be in nature. The grapes were really sweet, definitely sweeter than the more expensive ones I usually buy. The kids were thrilled and enjoyed eating them. They were so sweet that I craved something salty halfway through, and they had chips for sale, which was great. Grape ⇒ chips ⇒ grape seems to be the standard flow. I think it’s a good idea to bring something salty when you go.

You can also earn points with Veltra, and it was at a discounted price, so it was really great to spend the whole day for about 1500 yen. Next time, I want to invite my grandparents and go with everyone.

ベルトラのポイントもたまるし、割引価格だったし、1500円ぐらいで1日中遊べて本当に良かったです。次はおじいちゃんおばあちゃんも誘ってみんなで行きたいと思います。
