This was my second time in Yakushima, and with a focus on trekking, it was difficult to explore the entire island. Especially without securing transportation like a rental car, it would have been nearly impossible. The solution to this is the "Yakuzaru-go" island tour, which allows you to experience the beauty of the waterfalls, the Western Forest Road, Nagata Beach, and Yakusugi Land all in a compact way. I was worried about whether we would be able to return without being left behind during the 10-hour round trip trek, but we ended up climbing with a pair of four girls and two others who had similar stamina to ours. There were several breaks along the way, and it turned out to be a fulfilling day where I could enjoy and learn a lot about the history of the cedar trees with my own eyes.

There were several difficult spots, but having many companions to climb with made me feel reassured, and I experienced a great sense of accomplishment. Without the tour, I would have likely gotten tired and given up, and I definitely wouldn't have made it to the destination, so it was a wonderful opportunity. The way back felt like it went by in no time!

往復で10時間のトレッキングということでちゃんと置いてかれずに帰って来れるのか不安でしたが、私たちは女の子4人のペアと私たち2人で体力が同じくらいの方と一緒に登ることになりました。休憩も所々何ヶ所かあり、杉の歴史をたのしく自分の目でみていっぱい知れる充実した1日となりました。

Due to the schedule of my trip, I was looking for a tour in the afternoon, and I was very grateful that they were able to accommodate me with a rental included! I was able to fully appreciate the nature of Yakushima, and it became a truly wonderful memory to finally see the moss-covered forest that I had longed to visit. We were given short breaks every 50 minutes. Whenever I felt it was tough, the guide provided us with a break, which helped me reach the summit of Jomon Sugi without any issues. It seems that the guide has great photography skills. I really liked the photos that were shared. The companions, who were also foreigners, were very kind and supportive, for which I am truly grateful. I have warm memories from this experience, and it made me want to visit Yakushima again. If I come back, I think I will sign up for another day tour.

The guide, Mr. Tsubone, provided very attentive support from start to finish, which made me feel truly at ease throughout the walk. Since I don't usually exercise, I was worried about whether I could walk over 20 kilometers for more than 10 hours, but the well-timed breaks and pace were extremely helpful.

There were six members in our team, and he called everyone by name, adjusted our walking pace, and even provided warm miso soup for lunch, which kept the atmosphere calm and pleasant throughout the day.

島の方で、島の歴史から子供の頃の島の話までしてくださり、屋久島全体のツアーに来ているような感覚になり嬉しかったです。

また色んな方のアドバイスでたくさん食べ物を持っていきましたが、それも良かったです！
水は、湧き水がたくさんあり本当にペットボトル1本で足りてびっくりしました。
湧き水も美味しく、自然の恵みを感じられした。

あと何年縄文杉、ウィルソン株、その他の屋久杉が見られるか分からないので（自然の流れでも、自分の問題でも…）この瞬間に参加して良かったです！

Since I was a beginner in mountain climbing and had elementary school children with me, I was a bit anxious about how things would go even though I made a reservation. However, perhaps considering our situation, the tour guide was a kind and experienced person, and we were able to safely see the Jomon Sugi and return.

The guide was knowledgeable not only about Yakushima but also about various subjects. During the hike, he shared stories about geology, biology, history, geography, and medicine with my child (who is in the fourth grade), allowing us to enjoy learning together while climbing.

I started walking just before 6 AM and returned to the trailhead at 4:30 PM. Our team was relatively young, and it seemed we were moving quite fast. The weather was nice that day, and the temperature was high, so wearing a short-sleeve T-shirt and a light windbreaker was just right.

Our guide was a person named Kiyota, who provided a wealth of information throughout the tour without taking breaks, explaining the surrounding trees and sharing stories about Yakushima! He was a really nice person, and everyone seemed to be smiling and having a great time during the tour!

He also made sure to include breaks at appropriate times, so the round trip of 10 and a half hours wasn't as tough as I had expected. There were moments when we had to climb steep slopes and many stairs, but he encouraged us to go at our own pace, which made me feel safe while climbing.

Since my parents, who joined me, are elderly, they got tired from walking in the rain, so we were able to take a break on the bus earlier than planned, which was a great help. There were many participants from overseas, and the explanations on the bus were given in both Japanese and English, which also helped me with my English studies.
