First, the day before, I received a phone call in the evening to confirm the time and location of participation. It was very polite. However, while asking for height was fine, asking for weight was a bit much... It would have been better to just ask which size of life jacket (S, M, L) I preferred.

On the day of the activity, we gathered in front of the red post box 📮. The meeting place was easy to find, so there was no confusion. Foreigners and Japanese participants were separated into different groups. I was with only Japanese participants.

In the car, we used an app to register the consent form. The guide provided information until we arrived. During this time, the guide, Taishi, recommended some delicious restaurants and menu items, which I actually visited. I'm really glad I got those recommendations. It was incredibly helpful advice.

During the activity, there were two guides for four groups of participants. I heard that some people can hurt their backs, and I thought, "No way," but getting into the canoe position was quite tough 💦.

アクティビティ中→参加者4組に対してガイドは2人ついてくれた。
腰を痛める人もいるとかで、まさか〜と思ったけど、カヌーに乗る態勢ってなかなか辛い💦
途中ガイドさんが写真をとってくれて、写真はすべてデータでもらえます。20枚くらい送ってくれました。
解散後→無料のシャワーをかりて着替えました。シャワー室は鍵がついてないのかな…ちょっと不安ですね。
全体としてガイドさんたちの質が高い。写真撮影などのサービスもよい。アクティビティの内容も時間もちょうどいい。
シュノーケル中止は残念でしたが、次回ぜひ参加します！凄く楽しかったです。

In late December, I participated in a day trip from Ishigaki Island for a mangrove forest canoeing and buffalo cart tour on Yubu Island.

On the day of the trip, due to rough seas, the Uehara route was canceled, so we took the 7:30 ferry to Ohara Port and used the ferry company's bus to get to Uehara Port. (I heard that cancellations are common during this time of year.)

I had a once in a life time experience interacting with dolphins at Motobu Genki Village! While a lot of people will head for Churaumi aquarium to watch whales and fish in big tanks, I opted for a closer encounter with these wonderful sea creatures. It is worth noting that the dolphins at Genki Village live in the actual sea, albeit in designated sections. Swimming with dolphins has been a childhood dream of mine, and I still can’t believe that it actually came true. Not only that, but I was in such luck that I was the only person in my booked time slot - meaning the very nice and skilled trainer directed all her attention to me. And I got to swim with the dolphin in question, Money - four whole times. Twice hanging onto her top fin and twice over her belly when she swam upside down. The trainer and Money put on quite the show, with funny tricks and mirroring theatrics which I also was a participant in. I had to the best time, and I have videos from the event of me laughing excitedly like a little kid. Besides the main activity itself, I got to loan a wet suit (winter time), crocs and a towel, and the changing room had lockers and the showers schampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The only thing I had to bring myself was a bathing suit - it could not have been smoother! I am so so happy to have experienced this! If you are in doubt, don’t be - just do it - you won’t regret it!

I experienced stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). It was a windy day, and I was worried before going, but there were no waves or wind in the inland sea, so I was able to enjoy it from start to finish. The weather was forecasted to be rainy, but it was cloudy, and I could see clearly down to the bottom of the sea.

The staff were very kind, and I quickly got used to it and was able to stand up and fully enjoy the beautiful sea, which made me very satisfied. They also did drone photography, and I was moved by how wonderful the shots turned out, even beyond my expectations.

If anyone is coming to Miyako Island, I would definitely recommend this! ♪

It was a cloudy day, but we started snorkeling right on the same property as the hotel we were staying at, and the water was incredibly clear!

Since I live in Okinawa, I love snorkeling during the summer, and it was fun to see beautiful coral reefs and different fish than those found on the main island!

Moreover, within just five minutes of starting, we encountered two sea turtles, which made me really happy! 😳

It was also helpful to have some time to take a break at the hotel and shower!

In the afternoon, we went on the pumpkin tour. It started to rain, and the sea was a bit rough, so paddling in the canoe was quite tiring! 😂 It was challenging to get into the pumpkin cave, but once inside, we were able to climb and experience things we normally wouldn’t, which felt like an adventure!

The final jump was quite nerve-wracking, but it became a great memory!

The weather was pretty questionable, but thanks to the wonderful and dandy bearded guy, Gen-chan, who took care of us with a smile from start to finish, we made the best memories! Thank you!

最後飛び込みはかなりびびりましたが、いい思い出になりました！

In the morning, I went on a mangrove canoe tour guided by Matsushita, also known as Macchan. We paddled up the river with mangroves on both sides. Before turning back, we landed on the shore to see some plants and a waterfall. On the way back, we relaxed and arrived at the estuary without having to paddle.

After a lunch break, in the afternoon, we went canyoning guided by Shogo. We walked over rocky areas, jumped in about three times, and slid down the stream. At the waterfall, we enjoyed being hit by the flow, going behind it, and fully experiencing the great outdoors! When climbing the rocks or jumping into the river, the guides carefully showed us where to place our feet, allowing us to play safely.

Canoeing and canyoning may seem difficult, but the guides pay close attention and teach you, so there were no injuries, and it's fine even for beginners. I think even elementary school students can do it. Since we came all the way to Iriomote Island, I believe it's better to leave it to the guides to fully enjoy the island's nature and play safely, plus they teach you various things about the island, which is very helpful.

カヌーもキャニオニングも難しそうに感じますが、ガイドさんが細かく見てくれ、教えてくださるので、怪我もないですし、初めてでも大丈夫です。小学生でも大丈夫だと思いました。
せっかく西表島に来るからには、島の自然を満喫でき、楽しく安全に遊べるよう、ガイドさんにお任せしたほうがいいと思いますし、島の色んなことも教えてもらえるので、とても助かります。
今回は冬だったので、あいにくの天気でしたが、大満足でした。特にキャニオニングは一度やる価値有りです！

あと、ウエットスーツは貸してもらえるので寒くはないですし、体験後シャワーも使えました。写真もたくさん撮ってもらえました。なんとなく、始まるまでは知らない土地だし、ガイドさんも初めて会うので不安でしたが、色々ハズレなし感でした。
