Due to the heavy rain since the previous day, there were warnings from the morning, and I was quite anxious from the start. However, the warnings were lifted, and we began at the Arakawa trailhead. It seems that starting from here is tougher, but I trusted the judgment of our experienced guide. It was extremely cold because of the rain, but the miso soup that the guide provided was truly comforting.

Completing two major courses at once was certainly hard, and I dealt with muscle pain for two days, but once the pain subsided, I realized it had been a wonderful experience. Although the weather was bad that day and we did our SUP experience in the mangroves of Miyara River instead of Kabira Bay, we got to see views that you can't see in Tokyo, impressive trees with large roots, and even some limestone caves! They took a lot of photos of us as a pair. They taught us Instagram-worthy yoga poses and shared many recommendations for delicious local restaurants and places with island music live performances. It was truly enjoyable to talk with them. They really helped create a fun atmosphere and took lots of great photos. I genuinely felt that it was worth participating after it was all over! This was my first time in Yakushima. It was late March, so it wasn't high season, but I still enjoyed it. The weather was bad and humid, but it seems that the rocks in Yakushima are not slippery even when wet, so I didn't struggle much with the hiking. Personally, I thought Taiko Rock and the Mossy Forest were the best. I enjoyed the sacred atmosphere in the conditions after the rain. If I were to visit again, I think I would skip the Yakusugi.

今回が初めての屋久島でした。3月下旬とハイシーズンではありませんでしたが、普通に楽しめました。天気が悪くジメジメしてましたが、屋久島の岩は濡れても滑りにくいみたいでそこまで登山に苦労はしませんでした。

I was picked up at 1 PM in Miyanoura and enjoyed Shiratani Unsuikyo until after 4 PM. Although the pickup area was outside the JR Hotel, I was told that since the guide lived near the JR Hotel and Iwasaki Hotel, it was possible to arrange for pickup from the hotel if requested. We were blessed with good weather, and despite it being mid-March, the temperature was quite high, which is rare for Yakushima. The guide was very knowledgeable, and we had a great time during the journey. I think trekking shoes are better than sneakers (preferably ones you are used to), and rain gear is essential. Since I live overseas, I mentioned that I didn't have a phone, and they were able to coordinate the meeting place and other details via email the day before. Transportation was, of course, free.

I met up with other participants near the snorkeling site, and there were a total of 13 of us.

It was about 20 degrees and a bit chilly, but wearing a wetsuit made it manageable. However, many people mentioned it was cold, so there might be individual differences.

Snorkeling was amazing! There were so many fish. Although the sea is said to be clearer in summer, I personally think this season is the best because there are fewer people.

After snorkeling, we enjoyed a natural shower at a waterfall and played in the plunge pool. Compared to the sea, the water was cold, but once you got in, it wasn't too bad.

After playing in the plunge pool, we took off our wetsuits and finished snorkeling, then headed to Kabira Bay for the next canoe activity.

We arrived at Kabira Bay at 1 PM, and the canoeing started at 2 PM. There weren't many dining options at Kabira Bay, but that can't be helped. There was an incredibly delicious soft serve ice cream nearby.

We started canoeing at a place called Ura Kabira Bay. It felt like we were right next to Kabira Bay, but the water was still beautiful. Here, the focus was more on enjoying canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding rather than looking at the sea. We had about an hour of semi-free time to paddle around. Since opportunities to canoe are rare, it was a great experience.

We finished around 3:30 PM, and they drove us back, arriving in the city center by 4:30 PM. We made it just in time for our reservation at Hitoshi Main Store at 5 PM, so it was perfect.

I was very satisfied to experience two activities in one day that are hard to do without the right equipment.

One point to be careful about is that when you arrive at the snorkeling site, you'll change into your wetsuit. If you leave your clothes and bags on the car seat, they might get wet from the seawater when moving from the sea to the waterfall, so it's better to put them in a large plastic bag or, if there's space in the trunk, keep them there.

Overall, I was very satisfied. The staff were friendly, and I would love to participate again if I have the chance. Thank you!

3月17日のアクティビティに参加してきました。

海外在住のため、電話がないと伝えると前日に集合場所など含めメールで調整してもらえることに。送迎はもちろん無料。

シュノーケリング会場の近くで他の参加者の人と合流、計13人で参加しました。

シュノーケリングの後は滝で自然のシャワー兼滝壺遊び。海に比べたら水は冷たいですが、一度入ればそこまでではないです。

滝壺遊びがが終わったらスウェットスーツを脱いでそこでシュノーケリングは終了、次のカヌーに参加するために川平湾に向かいます。

13時に川平湾に着いて、14時からカヌー開始。川平湾は食べるところの選択肢が少なかったですが、これは仕方ないですね。近くにやたらおいしいソフトクリームがありました。

裏川平湾というところでカヌーを開始。所謂川平湾の脇みたいな感じのところですが、相変わらず水は綺麗です。こちらは海を見るというよりはカヌーやSAP自体を楽しむイメージです。1時間程度半自由行動で漕ぎまくりです。なかなかカヌーを漕ぐ機会はないので、いい経験になりました。

15:30頃に終わり、車で送ってもらって16:30には中心部につきました。17時から予約していたひとし本店にも間に合ったので万々歳です。

装備がないとなかなか経験しにくいアクティビティを一日二件も経験出来てとても満足です。

気を付けた方が良い点は、シュノーケリングの場所に着いた際にスウェットスーツに着替えるのですが、着替えやカバンなどを車のシートの上に置いておくと海から滝に車移動する際に身体についた海水で濡れてしまう可能性があるので、予め大きめのビニール袋に入れておくなりトランクに余裕があればそこに入れておくなりしたほうがいいです。


全体的に満足しました。スタッフの人もフレンドリーでまた機会があれば参加したいです。ありがとうございました。

I participated in a tour that included Jomon Sugi and Shiratani Unsuikyo in one day. I was quite prepared for the long course of Jomon Sugi, but the guide took appropriate breaks and shared various stories, so while I did get tired, it was an enjoyable trek.

For Shiratani Unsuikyo, a different guide talked about Yakushima's nature and plants. I was very happy that they even prepared a figure of Kodama from "Princess Mononoke."

I felt a bit anxious about the low tour price, but there were no particular complaints about the advance communication or the tour itself; in fact, I was very satisfied. 縄文杉のコースはとにかく長いということでかなり覚悟して臨みましたが、ガイドさんが適度に休憩をとってくださったり色々とお話をしてくださったので、もちろん疲れはしましたが楽しいトレッキングでした。
白谷雲水峡は縄文杉とは別のガイドさんで屋久島の自然や植物についていろいろとお話ししてくださいました。もののけ姫のこだまのフィギュアも用意してくださってとても嬉しかったです。

ツアー代金が安かったので少し不安を感じていましたが、事前の連絡やツアー自体に特に不満もなく、むしろ大満足でした。
また機会があれば白谷雲水峡や他のコースにも参加したいと思います。

My first time on Ishigaki Island and my first SUP experience. I was looking forward to paddling in the famous scenic spot, Kabira Bay, but due to strong winds on the day, we ended up doing SUP in the mangrove forest of Miyara River.

I was a bit anxious about falling into the river since it was my first time, but the instructor kindly taught us everything before we got in the water, and then we were off to the river. They shared various information about the mangroves, the terrain, and scenic points, and their bright smile made it easy to relax and enjoy the experience.

Seeing the mangroves up close was a rare experience that you can't have in the city, and it was so much fun. Additionally, the instructor shared the photos they took during the experience, which became wonderful memories. If I have the chance to travel to Ishigaki Island again, I would love to participate again.

初石垣島で、初SUP。景勝地として有名な川平湾でのSUPを楽しみにしていましたが、当日の風が強く宮良川でのマングローブ林の中でのSUPとなりました。

The mangroves were calm, and it was a lot of fun to visit places that could only be accessed by SUP or kayak. Snorkeling was quite challenging due to the high waves caused by the weather, but the underwater scenery was beautiful. The staff were all cheerful and kind, and the smile of the young lady was particularly impressive and very pleasant. I would like to try again on a nice day next time.

I participated in the tour on March 3rd. I had been checking the website for Maeda Point for a few days, but there were many days when swimming entry from the stairs was prohibited. Even if swimming is not allowed, there are times when you can go by boat, so it seems better to opt for boat entry in winter.

On the tour, each group is assigned one staff member. We had a kind staff member named Kazuya, and I was surprised to find out later that he took about 140 photos for us.

Since we went to the Blue Cave in the morning, perhaps because it was still cold, it wasn't too crowded, and we were able to enjoy it slowly. The water was a beautiful light blue and sparkled, which was breathtaking. We swam further into the cave and were able to do a bit of cave exploration.

With the attentive service and the beautiful Blue Cave, it became a wonderful memory. Thank you very much.
