I was hoping to see the coconut crab, but unfortunately, I didn't get to see one on the day I participated (´-ω-｀). I signed up thinking I would definitely encounter a coconut crab, but it seems that in winter, their activity is low, and the chance of encountering one is about 50%. Before we set off, I was told that there probably wouldn't be any coconut crabs, and I felt a bit scammed. If I had known, I wouldn't have signed up, crying. (The guide was not at fault.)

Instead, I was able to meet some insects and creatures that I had seen on TV, so that was nice! Since coconut crabs are hard to find, the guide worked hard to search through the forest. On the day I participated, it was cloudy, so I couldn't see many stars, but I think on a clear day, they would be quite beautiful from the beach◎. Because it was January and the temperature was low, it felt more like a tour of walking through the jungle rather than encountering a lot of creatures! It seems that when it gets warmer, the animals become more active, so I definitely want to participate again in the summer (*´꒳`*).

I signed up for the tour on January 4th. I think there were about 20 other guests accompanying me. The guides were all young men, and they were very kind. The view of crossing the sea to Yubu Island was more beautiful than I imagined, and the water buffalo were cute and soothing. I was able to see the large pond where the water buffalo live up close! The ice cream at Yubu Island Tea House on the island is exquisite. You can enjoy tea while looking at the beach. However, since it's a tour, there might be a line due to overlapping timings with other guests, so I recommend going to line up as soon as you arrive on the island.

Our guide was "Macchan," who was very knowledgeable about plants. We were able to hear many interesting stories about plants, which made for an enjoyable experience.

On the other hand, I felt that there was a slight disconnect from the purpose of observing creatures that are unique to the night. There was no explanation about the animals highlighted in the tour, such as the coconut crab, and we didn't get to hear much in-depth information about animals or insects.

Since we are dealing with nature, I don't have any complaints about not encountering certain creatures. I also understand that different guides have different areas of expertise, which can lead to hearing unexpected stories, and I don't deny that. I was able to take many photos of the stunning sea, which became wonderful memories. I also got a lot of pictures of myself and the marine life. I was worried it might be cold in January, but experiencing the clarity of the water from within was a fantastic experience, and I'm glad I did it. It was chilly before and after entering the water, but they provided warm water for us. I was also grateful that they shared the photos the next day. Luckily, I encountered a sea turtle and got some great pictures, which made me very satisfied. I would definitely like to request this again when I visit Miyako Island.

After lunch, we took a water buffalo cart to Yufu Island. The guide on the water buffalo cart shared that after a natural disaster made the area uninhabitable, an elderly man planted the vegetation that became the foundation of the current botanical garden. It was surprising to see so many flowers blooming in January, and I was lucky enough to capture a photo of a butterfly that came to sip nectar.

During the ride to and from Yufu Island, in addition to explanations about the water buffalo, we were treated to songs played on the sanshin, which made for some wonderful memories. バスの移動時の運転から、カヌー引率、由布島までの移動等、まっちゃんにはお世話になりました。
また、バスでガイドをしてくれたショウゴさんや、準備をしてくださった方々、水牛車ガイド方々にもお世話になりました。

We decided to join because it was possible to participate until the age of 70, but I have some mountain climbing experience while my wife is almost a beginner. 70歳迄ツアー参加可能ということで参加を決めたのですが、私は登山経験有りで妻は殆ど初心者。行きのトロッコ道を歩く時から少し遅れ気味だったのですが、トロッコ道を終え、本格的に登り始めるところからついていくのがかなり厳しかったです
ガイドからこのペースだと帰りのバスに間にあわない、初心者は個別ツアーに申し込むべきだと告げられました
妻のザックを私が担いであがる事でなんとか縄文杉までは到着しました
また、他にも登山初心者の方が参加されていたの雪道でアイゼンを付けなければならない状態だったのですが、ガイドはアイゼンを渡すだけで付け方を手伝うことはありませんでした
登山アプリでの行動ペースは一般の110〜120%となっており、普段実施されている観光説明を参加者のスキルにあわせて短くし、ゆっくり目に歩いてあげる様な配慮もあってよかったと思います
申し込みの事前告知に求める登山スキルを記載して、参加者がこれなら参加できる、できないの判断ができる様にしてくれる事を望みます

星を一つ減らしたのは、風が全然強くなく、冬の西表島では珍しく晴天の日だったにもかかわらず、天候を理由に希望していたsupではなくカヤックにされてしまった事です。
sup参加者が私達だけで、一つのツアーにまとめて集約したいからなんだろうなとしか思えませんでした。というのも、この日の夜以前supツアーでお世話になった地元のツアー業者の方々に居酒屋で偶々お会いし、今日どこに行ったという話になったのですが、今日はいい天気で全然supできたよと皆さん言われていました。
また、個人写真をあまり撮って下さらず、1人が目を瞑っていたり、使える写真が1、2枚程度で非常に少なかったのでがっかりしました。
是非次回はsupができたらなと思います。

I was a bit anxious about my footing because of the snow and ice, but the guide took it slow, so even as a first-time climber, I was able to successfully ascend and descend.
