I participated with my 4-year-old child.
Exploring the jungle path, which was more lush than I had imagined, while light rain fell, was very exciting.
We were able to see and touch a beautiful starry sky, a large hermit crab, some rare insects, and even a coconut crab, which we were lucky to encounter.
I thought it might be a bit hard for my child, but they were completely absorbed in the exploration and never got bored until the end, making it enjoyable for both of us.
The guides were also very supportive and attentive until the very end, which was truly wonderful.

Although the weather was cloudy and we couldn't see the stars, we encountered many seaside creatures.

Unfortunately, the weather on the day I participated was not great, and I could only see a few stars, but that's just luck, so there's nothing to be done about it. The exploration location was near Sakieda in Ishigaki City, and it felt more like a jungle than I expected as we pushed through the underbrush. Unfortunately, the starry sky was obscured by clouds, so we couldn't see much, but we encountered various creatures like four coconut crabs, a giant tree frog, a scorpion, and a large spider! The excitement when we found the coconut crabs was great! Our guide, Manaka, also kept the conversation lively during the car ride, making the whole experience enjoyable.

It was my first experience! I was nervous because the meeting place was at a golf course at night, but the photographer was easy to talk to and kind. Unfortunately, the weather was bad, so we had to change the date and time, but their response was polite and I appreciated it. It was great! The two guides really worked hard to entertain us from the gathering to the moving and dispersing, and their stories were interesting. They even helped us find a coconut crab while we were climbing the cliffs and sweating! I didn't expect to have such an active guide.

During the tour, be careful as you leave your luggage in the car. We finished around 10 PM that day. I felt like I received energy from the young people, and I definitely want to participate again.

I was hesitant to participate because of the rain forecast, but I decided to go for it after reading reviews that said you could encounter many creatures in the rain. Although we couldn't see the stars, the deep jungle provided enough cover from the rain, and once we reached the beach, we were able to search for creatures in a nearby cave, so it was fine.

Thanks to the staff and a knowledgeable child who was also participating, we encountered even more creatures. We saw three coconut crabs, as well as other crabs, a scorpion fish, a sea snake, an eel, frogs, and many other unique creatures of Ishigaki Island, making for a very enjoyable time. My daughter and I both love various creatures, so it became a great memory.

For those hesitant about the rain forecast, I recommend participating without hesitation.

スタッフの方はもちろん、参加されていた生き物に詳しいお子様のお陰でより多くの生き物に出会えました。ヤシガニ3匹、その他にもカニやサソリもどき、ウミヘビ、ウツボ、カエルなどなど、石垣島ならではの生き物を身近にみられとても楽しい時間でした。娘も私も色々な生き物が好きなので、良い思い出になりました。

The day I participated, the weather wasn't good and I couldn't see the stars, but I was able to see six coconut crabs. We got out of the car at the end of a dark road and, relying on the light on our heads, we ventured into the dark forest, feeling a bit scared of the darkness and insects. Within a minute, the guide found a coconut crab. As we continued, the guide mentioned that it was a good start, and every five minutes or so, we encountered more coconut crabs and large hermit crabs about the size of a finger (which are also a natural monument). Later, we even came across a group of hermit crabs (which was a bit scary).

Along the way, we also spotted a habu snake, which added to the thrill, but neither the habu nor the coconut crabs seemed aggressive towards us. Following the guide's instructions and moving calmly made for a reassuring tour. I hope to see the stars next time; while not everything went as expected, I thought that participating leisurely might lead to unexpected enjoyment.

５分おきくらいにヤシガニや、指の長さくらいの大きなヤドカリ（おかやどかり？　こちらも天然記念物とのこと）に会うことができました。その後、ヤドカリの集団にも出会えました（それがちょっと怖かったです）。
途中ハブも見つかり、スリリングな感じでしたが、ハブもヤシガニも人に向かってくるような感じはありませんでした。
ガイドさんのいうことを聞いて、落ち着いて動けば安心できるツアーでした。
今度は星が見れたらいいなーと、全て期待通りにはなりませんが、次へ楽しみとしてのんびり参加すると意外楽しめるのかなと思いました。

I participated because I wanted to see the starry sky and the coconut crab. I was surprised to see a lot of people at the meeting place, around 30 people, but we were divided into groups of about 10. Following our guide, Roy, through the night forest felt like an adventure and was exciting. Since it was March, I didn't have high expectations for seeing the coconut crab, but thanks to Roy's efforts in searching, we were able to see one! Unfortunately, the cloudy sky meant we couldn't see the stars, but there were many plants that I had never seen before on Honshu, making it a very good experience. Roy also shared information about Miyako Island's history, knowledge about the local flora and fauna, and recommended shops and tours! I recommend doing this on the first day of your sightseeing if you're planning to go.

集合場所にはたくさんの人、30人弱くらいの人がいてびっくりしましたが、10人ずつくらいのグループに分かれました。

We walked along a path in the coastal forest, illuminated by flashlights, heading towards the river with our guide. It felt like an adventure even before getting on the canoe! Although I was a beginner at canoeing, we practiced paddling on land before getting in, and the instructions were given very carefully, which made me feel safe and able to enjoy the experience. While paddling, our guide explained many constellations and animals that are active at night.

It was bright due to the full moon, so we couldn't see the bioluminescent plankton in the middle of the river, but our guide found a spot where we could see them, and I was really moved when we discovered the sparkling plankton. I was also happy to hear the calls of owls and geckos. Thank you for the wonderful memories!

I participated in the tour on February 24, 2024. The weather that day was cloudy with a cloud cover of about 7 to 8, and with a full moon, it was not ideal for stargazing. However, when we arrived at the site 30 minutes after the tour started, the clouds cleared a bit, and we were able to see the stars. It was an absolutely amazing tour. I joined to see the coconut crab, but since it was a clear winter day, it was a challenging environment for the warm and humid-loving coconut crabs to appear. However, our guide managed to find one, and I was able to see it! It was so moving!

While exploring the dark night paths, the guide also explained the history and wildlife of Okinawa and Miyako, which was very educational.

At the end, we reached a scenic spot in the park to view the starry sky, and since it was clear, we were able to take beautiful photos against the stunning starry backdrop. It was very dark around us, allowing us to see the winter constellations beautifully.

While searching for creatures in the jungle, we made our way to the beach, but unfortunately, we didn't encounter any coconut crabs before reaching the shore. According to the staff, the high temperatures and good weather leading up to our visit affected our chances. They mentioned that the likelihood of encountering coconut crabs increases after it rains. Since it was close to a full moon, the moonlight prevented us from seeing a perfect starry sky, but I was relieved to be able to enjoy the stargazing nonetheless. After reaching the beach, we set out again to search for coconut crabs, and a child in our group, being at a lower eye level, spotted some frogs and spiders. Just as I thought we might end the tour without seeing any coconut crabs, the staff found a small coconut crab on a cliff on our way back. Although we couldn't get close enough to see it well, we could tell it was blue.

This tour is very much affected by the weather, so I recommend checking the weather forecast carefully before participating, as it might seem a bit pricey. The staff were friendly and shared stories about Ishigaki Island during our travels.

I participated in a graduation trip from Tokyo! During the shuttle ride, the guide shared interesting facts about the history of Ishigaki Island and its wildlife, which was very educational and conveyed the charm of Ishigaki Island, allowing us to have a great time. We passed through areas without streetlights, and the scenery was never boring, different from what we saw during the day. Additionally, there was a thrilling moment when a wild boar suddenly appeared in the dark, making the experience exciting even before we got out of the car!

In the jungle, I saw various creatures and plants that are different from those in Tokyo, including cockroaches, large spiders, stick insects, scorpions, and coconut crabs that I had never seen before, which was exhilarating. At the beginning of the tour, there wasn't a single cloud in the sky, but the weather in Ishigaki Island can change quickly, and it started to rain in the latter half of the tour. However, I was very impressed that we drove around searching for spots with fewer clouds until the last minute. Although it was only for a short time, I was able to see wonderful scenery that I can't see in the city, and it became a fantastic memory that made me feel glad to have come to Ishigaki Island!

ツアーの初めは雲一つなかったのですが、石垣島の天候は変わりやすくツアー後半では雨が降ってきてしまいました。しかし、時間ギリギリまで雲が少ない場所を車を走らせて何箇所も探していただけたことに、とても感動しました。少しの間ではありましたが、都会では見れない素晴らしい景色を見ることができ、石垣島に来て良かったと思えるようなとても素晴らしい思い出になりました！！
帰りも遅い時間でしたがホテルまで送ってくださり、非常に助かりました。
期待以上に石垣島の自然に直接触れることができ、参加した２人とも大満足でした！星空のリベンジも含めまた石垣島に訪れた際にはお願いしたいです！！

I participated at the end of February. Although I didn't see the target coconut crab, I still had a valuable experience that I wouldn't normally have in my daily life, such as encountering a family of Ryukyu wild boars and seeing large spiders and various plants in the jungle along the way. Just moving through the pitch-black forest with a single light was incredibly exciting, and I enjoyed the explanations about the rocks being coral fossils, indicating that it used to be the bottom of the sea! Once we arrived in the jungle, there were steep slopes, but the guide was always reminding us to be careful, which made me feel safe. There were also children among the participants, and they seemed to be having a great time, so I think it's highly recommended. It was also fun to see the guide's reaction (his name was Mahiro) when he was surprised by the bats flying in the cave. I had a great time participating! Thank you very much!

2月末に参加させていただきました。結果的にはお目当てのヤシガニは見られませんでしたが、それでもジャングルに向かうと途中の道のりでリュウキュウイノシシの親子やジャングル内で大きなクモ等の生き物・植物という普段の生活では出来ない貴重な体験ができました。真っ暗闇の森の中をライト1つで進んでいくのだけでもすごくワクワクしますし、岩がサンゴの化石だったりして昔は海の底だった事等の説明いただき楽しく探検気分を味わえました！また、ジャングルに到着してから急な斜面があったりしますがガイドさんがその都度気を付けてくださいと呼びかけてくださるので安心です☺ 参加者にお子様も居られましたが、楽しそうにされていてお勧めだと思いました。洞窟内で飛んでるコウモリに驚いているガイドさん(まひろさんというお兄さんでした)の反応も楽しかったです。笑参加できて楽しかったです！ありがとうございました！

Since it was two days before the full moon, the creatures were quite active, and we were able to see many purple land crabs! On that day, there were no clouds, and the moon was beautiful; I believe we could see our surroundings even with the lights off thanks to the moonlight!
