I was very satisfied with my trip to the three islands: Iriomote Island, Yubu Island, and Taketomi Island, as I was able to do everything I wanted. I read on other sites that the food wasn't good, but I found it quite tasty. The guide on the cruise in Iriomote Island was entertaining, and I was able to take cute photos with the water buffalo on Yubu Island. I also rode a water buffalo cart on Taketomi Island, but the conversations with the guide, the shamisen music, and the scenery were completely different, making each experience enjoyable. Since I had planned my route in advance with a rental bicycle, I was able to efficiently explore the entire island.

Unfortunately, the blue cave snorkeling was canceled due to the weather, and we had to change to a snorkeling plan in Osaki, but both the morning mangrove canoeing & SUP and the afternoon snorkeling were fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable! The instructor was kind and easy to talk to, which was very helpful! I was healed by the nature of Okinawa, and it turned out to be a fulfilling day!

I was very worried about the rain since yesterday, but contrary to my worries, the sun came out and it was clear! There was some wind and it was a bit chilly, but under the enthusiastic explanation of our guide, we had so much fun that it blew away the cold! Canoeing under the mangroves allowed us to see caves and explore places that are not easily accessible, and it was a lot of fun!

I participated with my first-grade child. The instructor was very friendly, cheerful, and kind, and my child quickly warmed up to them.
My child, who has four years of swimming experience, was worried because it was their first time snorkeling and going to a place in the ocean where they couldn't touch the bottom. However, the instructor kept a close eye on them, and at times, they held my child to help them breathe through their nose and take breaks. With the presence of a float, my child felt secure. Thanks to that, I was also able to enjoy snorkeling!

I was worried about the restrooms, but there were plenty on the high-speed boat, at the port, and a few others, which was reassuring. We opted for a bus tour on Taketomi Island, and that was the right choice. Since we had to take an unfamiliar boat and there was a lot of moving around from the morning, it allowed us to enjoy without feeling rushed. If I have the chance again, I would like to take my time exploring each island.

Due to the waves, we couldn't go to the Blue Cave, so we were taken to Ohsaki Beach. During the car ride, the guide shared recommendations for shops and chatted with us, making the journey feel quick. After putting on our wetsuits, we entered the sea. I was a bit anxious since it was my first time snorkeling, but the beauty of the underwater world blew away my worries. I was amazed by the colorful fish and corals. Due to the weather, the tour to Balas Island was canceled, so my daughter and I participated in the mangrove canoe and Yufu Island tour.
In the mangrove canoe, we were overwhelmed by the great nature of Iriomote. There was a lecture at the beginning of the canoeing, and I was able to grasp the technique after paddling a bit. Thank you to Matt-chan for taking so many wonderful photos.
On the bus, we heard a lot about Iriomote Island and learned that its current state is due to the efforts of the local people to protect the great nature.
The water buffalo cart ride to Yufu Island was also a lot of fun! The expression of the young buffalo trying to return to the opposite shore where food was, without letting us off, was so cute.
When we entered the butterfly garden, butterflies came to greet us. The gelato made with butterfly pea and Okinawan salt at the recommended Yufu Island tea house might be the most delicious I've ever had.

マングローブカヌーでは西表の大自然に圧倒されます。カヌーは最初にレクチャーがあり、少し漕いでいるうちにコツを掴むことができました。担当してくれたまっちゃん、たくさんステキな写真を撮ってくださってありがとうございました。
バスの中でも西表島についてのお話がたくさん聞けて、大自然を守る地元の人々の努力で今の姿があることを知ることができました。
水牛車で渡る由布島もとても楽しかった！
お腹が空いた若い牛さんが乗車している私たちを降ろす間もなくごはんがある対岸に戻ろうとした時のこちらを伺う表情がとても可愛いかった〜
蝶々園に入ると、出迎えてくれるように蝶々がやってきてくれます。
おすすめの由布島茶屋さんで食べたバタフライピーと沖縄の塩を使ったジェラートは今まで食べた中で1番の美味しさかもしれません。
今度は家族みんなで訪れたいです。
その際はまたpipiさんにお世話になります。

In mid-January 2025, I participated in a SUP and snorkeling tour.
First, we experienced SUP! For the first five minutes, we received a lecture on how to ride the SUP and safety precautions on land, and then we hit the water! At first, it was difficult, but I gradually got the hang of it and was able to paddle faster. The wind felt nice, and I was healed by the sea. It was also great that we took a lot of photos to create memories.
After that, we changed locations by car for snorkeling. Since it was January, I was worried it might be cold, but the water temperature was warm, and I was able to borrow a wetsuit, so I wasn't cold at all.
During snorkeling, I encountered many different types and colorful fish. The beauty of the sea was better than that of Ishigaki Island and Miyako Island. The clarity was outstanding, as if I were inside a glass. Soon after, we spotted a sea turtle!! It was so cute to see the turtle during its feeding time and moments when it came up for air.

その後車で場所を変え、シュノーケリング。時期が1月ということで、寒いかな…と心配しておりましたが、水温は高めなのとウエットスーツをお借りでき、寒くなかったです◎
シュノーケルでは沢山の種類・色とりどりの魚と出会うことができました。海の綺麗さは、本島よりも石垣島よりも宮古島ですね。透明度は抜群でガラスの中に入っているかのようでした。そして、まもなくするととウミガメが！！ウミガメの食事タイムや息継ぎの瞬間を見れ、とても可愛いかったです。

The morning mangrove canoe tour was a relaxing experience, perfectly timed with the tides, allowing us to drift along the river with hardly any paddling required.
In the afternoon, we explored Kinsakuhara before other visitors arrived! We were welcomed by the sight of the "Austrian Great Spotted Woodpecker" and the sound of it pecking at the trees as we started our adventure.
I couldn't stop looking around at the 360° panorama of the ancient forest. When I looked up, I saw the gigantic Hikagehego with its geometric-patterned leaves. The scenery felt like it could bring forth a prehistoric bird at any moment.
To top it all off, a "Rurikekesu" came to say goodbye, and we were thrilled to catch a glimpse of its rare appearance.
Thanks to our guide, Mr. Kawashima, who had an incredible sense of nature and timing, this tour became a wonderful memory of Amami.
