I had always wanted to visit Shirakawa-go. I was looking for a good tour and signed up for this one based on its positive reviews.
Participating was definitely the right choice! I had a wonderful time.
Both the driver and our guide, Kuroda, were very pleasant, kind, and attentive.
The vehicle was comfortable, and they provided helpful information about hidden spots and souvenirs. On the day of the tour, we were blessed with good weather, allowing me to fully enjoy the dreamlike Shirakawa-go.
I participated alone this time, but I think Iโll invite my family next time.

Shirakawa-go and Hida Takayama were places I wanted to visit at least once. However, I thought it would be difficult due to time constraints, but I chose the option of a one-day bus trip from Kanazawa.
Since it's quite hard to access, the bus is convenient. Also, the guide was very helpful, providing detailed information. I received advice for walking around and tips for souvenirs.
Additionally, they pointed out great photo spots and even took snap photos with Shirakawa-go in the background, making for a fun day.

For this trip, even if you plan it individually, the round-trip bus fare from Kanazawa Station to Shirakawa-go is 4,000 yen, and the Hida beef lunch is 2,000 yen; this is the minimum cost. Shirakawa-go Bus Tour!
It was truly amazing!
I participated in a bus tour on the second day of my sightseeing in Kanazawa, coming from Okinawa. The timing from 10:00 to 15:00 was just perfectโช
And of course, it included lunch!
Moreover, it was the best lunch.
If I had to say something, I think the rice cracker grilling experience on the way back was unnecessary... (laughs)

I had originally booked a plan from Kanazawa Station to Shirakawa-go with another travel company, but it was canceled due to not enough participants. After desperately searching, I found Beltra. (Since I had already applied for paid leave, I couldn't change the dates.)
On the day of the trip, it was a cold, rainy morning, and there were four participants, making it a luxurious journey with plenty of space on the bus. Both the driver and the guide were friendly, which made for an enjoyable trip.
The lunch featuring Hida beef miso and perilla leaf grilled set was delicious.
At Shirakawa-go, we were able to visit several villages and were shown nice view spots, allowing us to take wonderful photos. The Kanazawa souvenirs recommended were mostly sold out!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and being with my elderly mother, I hesitated to participate several times. I was worried about the typhoon, but we narrowly escaped it and had a very enjoyable day. I was torn between taking a regular shuttle bus, but since it was my first visit and I was with children, and it seemed like there would be many mountain roads, I decided on the tour.

Traveling to the hidden gem of Shirakawa-go can be quite challenging, so I decided to join this tour. I was a bit anxious about how to explore Shirakawa-go, but the tour guide was very knowledgeable, and unlike many sightseeing buses, we weren't rushed for time, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely stroll. I participated in late August. It was cloudy, so walking was just right. Due to COVID, there were hardly any foreigners, so it wasn't as crowded as I expected, but there were a good number of tourists. The tour guide provided information on how to get around and hidden gems, which allowed us to sightsee efficiently, and it was very good. Since lunch was included, there was no waiting time, and we could use our time effectively. The recommended souvenirs from Kanazawa were also helpful. My first visit to Shirakawa-go was very satisfying. I definitely want to go on a tour to Shirakawa-go in winter next time.

I participated with my children. I was worried whether my elementary school and preschool kids would enjoy it, but in the end, it was incredibly fun. We departed on a weekday with two participants! It felt a bit awkward to have the place to ourselves, but there was no traffic, and with such a small group, there were no delays in gathering, allowing us to move efficiently.
In Shirakawa-go, we had a generous three hours for exploration, including lunch, and we were able to visit lesser-known photo spots, recommended homes, and souvenirs that our guide shared with us. We could visit all the open homes, and it was fascinating to see the unique features and innovations of each one.
Although we only viewed the Suganuma village in Gokayama from the car, it was evident that it is a small, real community where people live, and I felt that tourists shouldn't disturb it too much.
The Ainokura village also had a quiet, lived-in feel, making it feel like we were intruding. After a five-minute climb from the parking lot, there was a viewpoint where we could see the small village nestled in the mountains, and I imagined how harsh the winters must be there. It can be explored in about an hour, but I thought it would be nice to stay overnight (even though I said we shouldn't disturb it...).

I traveled alone this time, and I initially planned to go to Shirakawa-go by rental car. I'm truly glad I chose this bus tour instead.
