On this day, the forecast predicted a high of 3°C and a low of -1°C in Shirakawa-go. Thanks to that, I was able to visit Shirakawa-go, which I had seen in TV shows and photos, with its beautiful snowy scenery.
With a heat pack on my back, another in my shoes, and rain shoe covers on, I was fully prepared for my stroll. This allowed me to enjoy the stunning winter landscape of Shirakawa-go and indulge in some street food without being deterred by the cold or muddy ground!
The nostalgic old town of Takayama was filled with exciting shops from the moment I stepped in. I enjoyed exploring while savoring gourmet food, chopsticks, bowls, and local sake. I also visited Takayama Jinya and felt like I had traveled back in time!
I wish I had more time, but considering how challenging it is to get there, I thought it was great to experience it on a day trip bus tour from Nagoya!

I participated in a tour of Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go, which are two attractions that are quite difficult to cover in just one day. The majority of the participants were from China, and the large bus was fully booked. The tour guide provided explanations in both Chinese and Japanese.
On the way, it started to snow on the highway, causing traffic congestion, so we changed our plans and headed to Shirakawa-go first. The path to the observation deck was not in great condition due to rain and snow, but I wanted to see the view from the deck, so I walked there. Once I reached the top, I was able to overlook the beautiful snowy houses of Shirakawa-go, which was truly moving. The visit to the Nagase family house afterward was also nice, as I could take my time exploring the interior. I was worried that the two-hour stay might be a bit short, but I think I managed to see the main parts of the village.
Since we arrived in Hida Takayama in the afternoon, we couldn't visit the morning market, but we did explore Takayama Jinya and stroll through the old streets. The visit to Takayama Jinya took about 30 minutes, and it was impressive with its spacious grounds. Perhaps due to the time of day, there were few visitors, allowing for a leisurely exploration. I noticed that many shops near the bus parking area ended their lunch service around 3 PM, which is something to keep in mind.
Overall, it was an efficient bus tour that allowed us to visit two locations, and the tour guide's service was pleasant, making for a fulfilling day.
飛騨高山と白川郷のツアー、なかなか1日では回れない2つの観光地に行けるのが魅力的で参加しました。参加者は中国の方が多く大型バスが満席、添乗員さんは中国語と日本語での説明をされていました。
行きの高速道路で雪が降り始め道路が混雑したため、予定変更で先に白川郷へ行くことに。展望台への道も雨と雪で足元が良くない状況でしたが、せっかくなので展望台からの景色が見たくて、徒歩で展望台へ。登ってみたらとても素敵な雪の白川郷の家並みを見渡すことができ、感動的でした。その後に立ち寄った長瀬家もゆっくり内部を見学できて良かったです。2時間の滞在は少し短いかと心配していましたが、一通り集落を回ることができたと思います。
飛騨高山は午後の到着になったため、朝市見学はできませんでしたが、高山陣屋を見学し古い街並みを散策しました。高山陣屋は30分程で見学。広いお屋敷で見応えがありました。時間帯もあってか、見学客が少なく、ゆっくり見学できました。バスの駐車場近辺の商店街は、ランチタイムが15時頃終了してしまう所が多かった点は注意が必要かと思いました。
全体的には効率よく2箇所を巡ることのできるバスツアーで、添乗員さんの対応も気持ち良く、充実した1日でした。

Most of the passengers were Chinese, but everyone was punctual, boarded quietly, and followed good manners, which made me feel at ease. The driver's skills were excellent, and it was great that the schedule was maintained on time.

On November 30th, we visited Takayama and Shirakawa-go.
Since it was a bit early in the season, we weren't expecting snow, but we were surprised to find sleet mixed with snow.
Both the kids and the parents were excited. It was amazing! Next time, we hope to visit a little later and see the snowy landscapes like in the pictures.

I visited Gujo Hachiman and Shirakawa-go for the first time. It was very nice. The gassho-zukuri with snow was the best; I was lucky. The guide explained in three languages, but I think I was the only Japanese person there. If that's the case, I feel a bit sorry about it. Thank you very much.

I went to Nagoya for sightseeing, but I didn't do enough research on the places I wanted to visit. When I checked Veltra, I found out there are day tours by sightseeing bus to Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go in Gifu. Shirakawa-go has been a place I wanted to visit for a long time, but I didn't have a clear image of the specific location or how to get there (I hadn't researched it), so this sightseeing bus tour was very lucky for me. The old streets of Hida Takayama felt fresh to me, and the guide explained everything well, allowing me to have a fulfilling day.

I never expected to see snow at the end of November, so it was truly wonderful to see the snow-covered roofs in Shirakawa-go! Additionally, I appreciated the 15-minute restroom breaks at the service area on both the way there and back. The streets of Takayama were also very charming, and I had the chance to enjoy some delicious food, making it an amazing experience. I would love to use this service again if the opportunity arises!

I participated in a tour of Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go in early November! In conclusion, it was a very enjoyable tour, and both my husband and I were extremely satisfied with the day!
Before arriving at each location, the bus guide provided personalized recommendations for sightseeing spots to each tour participant. They offered helpful advice such as, "If you want to go to ~, it's better to go there first because it gets crowded," and "If you go to ~ after ~, you'll be able to return to the meeting place smoothly." Thanks to their thorough guidance, we were able to visit the sightseeing spots with high satisfaction, making this tour highly recommended. Shirakawa-go had a small bus that runs every 20 minutes to the observation deck, so I couldn't ride it and walked up instead. The slope was steep, but I was able to enjoy the scenery along the way, so walking might have been a good choice!
This time, I also got to see the Wada House. The steep stairs, resembling a ladder, and the roof structure were quite fascinating.
The souvenir shop was narrow, so I couldn't browse leisurely, but I managed to buy a local magnet for my collection.
Everywhere I went, the locals were very kind, and I had a great time sightseeing. I would love to participate again!

I participated with another Japanese person. I will briefly review the good points and those that could be improved.
The good points include the ease of access from Nagoya to the old streets and morning market of Hida, as well as the UNESCO World Heritage site Shirakawa-go, simply by taking a bus. Since we participated on a Sunday, there were no significant traffic jams, and although there were moments of light rain, overall, we managed to have an enjoyable day. We had two hours each to explore, and in Hida, we enjoyed Hida beef for lunch while walking around the town. In Shirakawa-go, we took a compact round trip to the observation deck from in front of Wada House, enjoyed the scenery, and had plenty of time to savor gohei mochi and Hida beef croquettes.
On the other hand, I would like to note a few points that concerned me as a Japanese participant. First, the morning meeting point was very confusing. There were three guides holding designated flags, but I had no idea how the check-in system worked as it was my first time (in the end, we had to find our assigned guide among the three and choose our preferred seats on a first-come, first-served basis. I think it would be smoother and more efficient if the organizers specified this in advance).
Additionally, this tour is not particularly budget-friendly based on my experience, and the bus used was quite cramped. While I could tolerate the lack of charging facilities, I expected a larger bus, so the comfort level did not match the cost. Furthermore, the air conditioning was not on during the outbound trip, making the interior very cold. Although I believe the driving was generally safe, there was no announcement before each departure, which made the sudden starts quite dangerous. For safety reasons, I think there should definitely be an announcement like "We are about to depart." This should be addressed promptly (at one point, the guide almost stumbled).
Finally, I want to emphasize that since this tour does not have a Japanese guide, you cannot expect the detailed guidance that Japanese participants might imagine. (If you prefer a more relaxed experience, I definitely recommend participating.) During the bus ride, they sent four images explaining the destination via AirDrop, but that was about it. More than 90% of the participants were from overseas, so there were times when the Japanese explanations were skipped during verbal announcements. (However, since there are generally explanations in English, I think it’s fine as long as you can understand that.)

良かった点は、名古屋から最も楽な方法でただバスに乗っているだけで飛騨の古い街並や朝市、そして世界遺産である白川郷へアクセスし、簡単に戻ってこられる点です。日曜参加でしたが特に大きな交通渋滞もなく、雨がちらつく瞬間もありましたが、概ねなんとか楽しく一日を過ごせたことはとても良かったと思います。それぞれ2時間ずつ散策可能なので、飛騨では街歩きがてらに飛騨牛のランチをとりました。白川郷では和田家の前から発着しいるバスで展望台までコンパクトに往復し、景色を堪能した後に、五平餅や飛騨牛コロッケを楽しむ時間もたっぷりありました。
他方、僭越ながら、日本人参加者として気になった点もいくつかメモとして記しておきます。まず朝の集合が大変分かりにくいです。指定された旗を持っているガイドは3人いましたが、どういうシステムで受付をしているのか初めてだと全くわかりません（結局、担当のガイドを3人の中から探し出し、先着順に好きな座席を、参加者自らがその場で決めるシステムでしたが、主催者の方で事前に指定して伝える方がスムーズかつ時間の無駄がなくクレバーだと思います）。
また本ツアーは経験上そこまでリーズナブルなバスツアーではないですが、使用している車体がかなり狭いです。充電ができない等は我慢できるとしても、もう少し大型のバスを期待していたので、快適性については費用に見合っていないのと、同時にコストの兼ね合いもあるのかと思いますが、往路はエアコンをつけてくれていなかった為、車内が大変寒かったです。また、基本的に高速などは安全運転だったとは思いますが、全ての発車時になんのアナウンスもない為、毎回急に発進するかなり危ない発車だったと思います。これは安全の為なので「これから発車します」というようなアナウンスを必ずするべきだと思います。これについては、早急に善処すべきではと思いました。（あるタイミングなどではガイドが転倒しそうになってました）

During my business trip to Nagoya, I decided to join a bus tour to Shirakawa-go and Takayama, and I was very satisfied with my first experience on a bus tour. Afterward, I thought it would be nice to sit down at a restaurant for a meal, but since it was the weekend, the famous places had long lines, and I had to give up on that, which was my only regret.
We arrived at Shirakawa-go about an hour later. Since it’s a small village, we were able to visit all the places we wanted to see. Compared to Takayama, there are fewer restaurants, but you can enjoy local specialties like soba made from Shirakawa-go buckwheat and gohei-mochi.
At Shirakawa-go, we were able to park smoothly as a tourist bus, but regular cars were lined up for a long time to enter the parking lot.
I usually plan my own trips, but I found that on a bus tour, I could comfortably rest during travel time, making it a great experience.

プランとしては、8時頃に名古屋駅集合し出発、飛騨高山にはお昼前に到着し2時間の自由時間。朝市や街歩きをしながら飛騨牛寿司や、肉まんなど食べ歩きを楽しみました。その後せっかくならレストランに入ってご飯も食べようとしたのですが、土日で有名店は軒並み行列しており、時間的に断念したのが唯一の心残りです。
飛騨高山から1時間ほどで白川郷に到着。小さな集落のため回りたいところは全て回ることができました。
飛騨高山と比べてご飯屋さんは少ないですが、白川郷の蕎麦粉で作ったお蕎麦や、五平餅などグルメも楽しむことができます。
白川郷では観光バスのため駐車場にスムーズに停められましたが、一般車は駐車場に入るために大行列をなしてました。
普段は自分でプラン立てて旅行をするのですが、バスツアーだと移動時間も快適に休めるため、バスツアーっていいなと思える旅でした。

It was a very good tour that was worth the price. The tour guide provided sufficient information about the destinations and explanations during the fast-paced travel, which was helpful. A photo taken at a recommended photo spot by our guide. It looks just like a calendar or a postcard. It's rare to find a place where you can take this photo without any obstacles. Our guide was cheerful, and we had a lot of fun. On the way back, the highway was congested, but our driver was quick-witted and took the back roads, so we arrived quickly. I was initially worried that there wouldn't be many Japanese people on the tour, but since it was a three-day weekend, I was relieved to see more Japanese participants than I expected.
We arrived at our first destination, Takayama, just before lunchtime, so we were able to enjoy food sampling without much waiting. However, by the time we were leaving, there were long lines at the popular restaurants. I had heard that there aren't many places to eat in Shirakawa-go, so I made sure to have my meal in Takayama.
Before we reached our destinations, the bus guide explained various points using a map in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean for each group. Although we had free time at the locations, everyone was able to stick to the meeting times, allowing us to efficiently explore Takayama and Shirakawa-go for two hours each, which was just perfect! It was a fantastic tour, and I was very satisfied! I definitely want to use this service again.

A bus tour from Kanazawa to Shirakawa-go with lunch included. There were many foreign visitors, and everyone was very satisfied with the content. There were about three groups of Japanese participants, with mostly international attendees. First of all, everyone was punctual, and there were hardly any delays; I believe everything proceeded on schedule. The guide provided explanations in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and English, so there was nothing difficult to understand, and I felt no anxiety.
First, we visited Takayama. The autumn leaves were beautiful, and the two-hour stroll went by in no time! We could also enjoy food sampling and visit the Takayama Jinya, which was very satisfying! これもまた紅葉が綺麗で…。こちらでも食べ歩きをして、展望台にも行きました。シャトルバスがあるとの事でしたが、遊歩道を歩いて登りました。わりと急勾配でこんばんはキツかったですが、絶景が見れたので満足です!お土産屋さんもたくさんあり、混雑している感じもなく、スムーズに買い物もできました!
散策時間が計4時間でしたが、長すぎず短すぎず、たくさん詰め込んだ楽しい時間でした!!

Since the start was early, we used a hotel near Kanazawa Station to participate. Even a couple aged 70 and 68 were able to enjoy it comfortably. We were also pleased with the consideration for other couples returning home to distant places by Shinkansen after 5 PM. We were surprised by the large number of participants from around the world (about 70%).
スタートが早いので、金沢駅近くのホテルを利用して参加。70歳と68歳の夫婦でも余裕で楽しめました。17時後半に金沢駅から新幹線で遠方へ帰宅する他のご夫婦への配慮も嬉しく感じました。世界各国からの大勢の参加に驚きました(約7割)。

It was a sightseeing trip I had been looking forward to.
Although the weather was cloudy at the time of departure, I had a wonderful time enjoying the autumn leaves under the clear blue sky in Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go, savoring the local flavors right from the morning.
The guide was very kind, allowing me to explore the unfamiliar city with peace of mind.
I definitely want to use this service again on my next opportunity.

We were the only Japanese participants. The guide was fluent in Japanese and Chinese, providing thorough explanations, and the passengers were well-mannered, making the bus ride very comfortable.
First, we had two hours of free time in Takayama, where we enjoyed sightseeing at Takayama Jinya, sampling local foods, and shopping for souvenirs.
After that, we traveled by bus for about an hour and had another two hours of free time in Shirakawa-go. We were able to go to the observation deck, where the autumn leaves were at their peak, offering truly breathtaking views.
It was a fantastic day trip, allowing us to fully enjoy both Takayama and Shirakawa-go!

ガイドさんは日本語、中国語が堪能で、丁寧な説明をしていただき、乗客はマナーが良くバス内はとても快適でした。
まず高山で2時間の自由時間があり、高山陣屋の見学、食べ歩きやお土産の購入と満喫しました。
そこから１時間ほどバスで移動し、白川郷でも2時間の自由時間がありました。展望台まで行くことができ、紅葉が見頃でまさに絶景でした。
一日で高山と白川郷を満喫でき、日帰りにもかかわらず最高の旅でした！

I had wanted to visit Shirakawa-go for a long time, so I found this tour and participated. First, in Takayama, we had a 2-hour walking time. I was able to enjoy food sampling in the old town. Next, we moved to Shirakawa-go, where we also had a 2-hour walking time. It was the perfect season for autumn leaves, and I was able to see beautiful scenery. I finally visited Shirakawa-go, a place I had always wanted to go. During the bus ride, we received various explanations, and since there were many foreign participants, I thought it was a great system that the interpreter spoke in English right away.
いつかは行ってみたいと思っていた白川郷へ行ってきました。
バスの中では色々な説明をしていただけ、外国の方もたくさん参加しておられたので通訳の方がそのまますぐに英語で話されていて良いシステムだと思いました。
