I had a faint memory of traveling to Okinawa when I was little, but I was surprised to find that the impression of the city was completely different when I visited again as an adult. I expected a simple tropical world, but Naha turned out to be a well-developed international tourist city in a good way, with a diverse presence of people from China, South Korea, and the United States.
From Asahibashi Station on the monorail (Yui Rail), which runs through the center of Naha, a Jumbo Tours bus departs right in front of the Hilton Hotel. There are several pickup points, but the Hilton Hotel has a spacious waiting lobby, making it convenient to wait during the hot season.
The tour we joined happened to have good timing, as there was only one other customer, a woman from South Korea. It turned into a wonderfully comfortable bus trip with just three passengers on a large bus. However, even if there were many customers as usual, the wide seats would allow for a relaxed travel experience.
What I found very good about this tour was that the "travel time" was in a pleasant environment. The guide's explanations were limited to what was necessary, and the automatic audio guide (available in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and English) played only important points. In other words, the actions from the operators towards us were kept to a minimum. This allowed us to truly enjoy the 1-2 hours of travel time in a relaxed manner. For those who want to enjoy a "thoroughly guided tour with a personal touch," it might feel a bit lacking, but for us, this aspect felt perfect.
The tour bus maintained that comfortable atmosphere and first stopped at the Igei Service Area for a break. This is a simple service area with a spacious view of the sea. From there, we headed north to Cape Hedo, located at the northernmost tip of Okinawa Island. It features a karst landscape, characterized by limestone rocks eroded by rain, and from the cliffs, the endless deep blue ocean stretches out.
After a five-minute drive, we arrived at Mount Oishi, which also features a karst landscape and is a lush tropical forest mountain. There is a gentle hiking course that can be completed in about 30 minutes.
The hiking course at Mount Oishi is said to be filled with "phytoncides," substances that have detoxifying effects derived from trees. Regardless of the scientific validity of this claim, it is undeniably true that it creates a liberating feeling that heals the mind and body. This hike was truly filled with beautiful natural scenery, and I felt like I could freely release my soul.
After the hike, we headed south to JAL Private Resort Okuma. We enjoyed a buffet-style lunch in a spacious restaurant with high ceilings located within the resort hotel. There were various dishes, from Okinawa soba to mimiga, making for a delightful and fulfilling meal.
After lunch, we headed to the Churaumi Aquarium located in central Okinawa. Upon entering the grand architectural style, we were greeted by dazzling tropical fish, sea turtles, rare deep-sea creatures, and the enormous whale shark. This aquarium is undoubtedly a famous spot with one of the largest tanks in the world. During our visit, it was just after the release of Disney's animated film "Finding Dory," so the sea turtles, clownfish, and surgeonfish featured in the movie were very popular among the children.
After the extraordinary experience at the aquarium, our final stop was the Okashi Goten, famous for its purple sweet potato tarts. It offers a wide range of classic and new Okinawan sweets, making it an ideal place to purchase souvenirs. While the prices are not particularly cheaper than other souvenir shops, buying here comes with perks like shopping bags and straps for the purple sweet potato tarts, making it a good deal. After leaving Okashi Goten, we returned to the original pickup location and disbanded.
In summary, this tour allowed us to comfortably spend travel time while hitting key points in a bus journey from ce

I have visited the Churaumi Aquarium several times on tours, but I'm glad I made it to Kunigami Village. The emotion I felt when I saw Yoron Island from Cape Hedo was incredible, and especially, the Great Stone Forest was magnificent. If I had a bit more time, I would have loved to walk the Giant Rocks and Stone Forest course. While circling the Rock of Rebirth three times, I wished to be born as a human again. The "Picasso" rock was particularly interesting, as it looked like the "Devil Rock" from certain angles! There were various fascinating rocks like the Elephant Parent and Child Rock and the Cat Rock, and the view of the ocean from the Churaumi Observatory was the best. I thought that if we had a little more time to explore the Great Stone Forest, we could have enjoyed the sightseeing even more. As a flower lover, I was thrilled to take photos of the papaya flowers, which I can't see on the main island of Kyushu.
At the Okichan Theater in the Churaumi Aquarium in Motobu Town, I was healed by the adorable dolphin show, laughing many times and returning to my childhood. Being here, both young and old felt like there wasn't enough time, and before I knew it, it was time to gather, leaving me with a sense of regret as I boarded the bus. The purple sweet potato tart at the snack shop was the best, and the fresh tart that can only be eaten here left a lasting memory of its delicious taste.
This time, we older travelers had a great time, so I think it would be wonderful if this tour plan could be promoted to more people. It would be good to have more visibility online to catch the attention of older travelers.

Dear Sasuke and Meeko,
Thank you very much for participating in the bus tour organized by Jumbo Tours. We appreciate your comments on each sightseeing spot. It is clear from the photos that you both enjoyed your time.
While many may have visited places like the Churaumi Aquarium and around Nago, there are likely few opportunities to go further north. Especially when it comes to visiting Cape Hedo and the surrounding Oishi Forest, driving can be quite challenging, so we recommend taking a bus tour for a more relaxed visit.
The fact that you were able to see Yoronjima from Cape Hedo indicates that the weather was nice! In winter, you can also witness the rough waves crashing against the cliffs from the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean, offering a different view from this time of year. Oishi Forest, known as a power spot, has several walking courses, so it might have felt a bit short to only see one course in an hour. We will take your valuable feedback into consideration for future tour operations.
The time spent at the Churaumi Aquarium is slightly shorter than other courses, but we are delighted to hear that you were able to enjoy the dolphin show at just the right time.
Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are considering creating new tours, so we hope you will use our bus tours again when you visit Okinawa next time. We sincerely look forward to your next visit.

I found the kamidana (Shinto altar), butsudan (Buddhist altar), the beautiful garden, the storehouse, and the stairs leading to the employees' rooms very interesting. The tea room is a historic place named by the Musakōji family, so it was a bit disappointing that we could only observe and experience the tea ceremony in a separate room with standing etiquette. The meal was very delicious.

I participated in it with my partner (who is not Japanese). It was a course full of Japanese cultural experiences that visitors like, and he and I were very satisfied with it.
A European couple who were attending at the same time course seemed very satisfied too. We had an animated conversation with them, saying that we would be sure to recommend this to others.
Since there was an English guide, I did not need to translate for my partner (which would have been stressful, since there a lot of things that I do not know about Kyoto Culture), and I enjoyed it to the fullest. When I have guests from foreign countries visiting next time, I would like to use your plan.

I had been wanting to experience a traditional town house in Kyoto, and I happened to find this tour. I participated in the Full Course (Plan A) with my American partner. Since we were the only two participants at that time, it felt like a private tour.
I was born and raised in Kyoto, and it felt like I was being guided through my grandmother's house, which was very enjoyable. My partner was dressed in a simple kimono and was thrilled to pose with a toy sword! The tea ceremony was also a wonderful memory, experienced in a charming town house.
It seems my partner had a great time with the traditional town house experience and has grown even fonder of Japan. The guide, a lovely woman, patiently explained everything in English to my partner's various questions.
Finally, we had a traditional lunch featuring a bento from Tomitaya. Since pickles were the main dish, my partner, who isn't fond of them, left some behind, but they were very happy to have eaten traditional Japanese food in a historic town house. I love pickles, so I enjoyed them very much.
If I have the opportunity to guide someone from overseas again, I would definitely like to participate in this tour once more. Thank you very much.

When you think of Kyoto, the first image that comes to mind is the traditional townhouses, evoking the ancient capital era, which has always intrigued me, so I decided to participate in this experience.
The owner here, who is referred to as the head of the household, is said to be the 13th generation. She is a wonderful person who personally taught me about Kyoto's culture, especially the "traditions" that are still preserved today and their meanings.
In an age where everything has become incredibly convenient and old customs and traditions are often overlooked, I reflected on the wisdom of the past, the reverence for the unseen, and the spirit of gratitude. Listening to the head of the household, Mineko, I felt that these traditions were created and maintained to express these sentiments daily and to harness them as strength for the future.
The meals were incredibly delicate and refined in flavor, and I learned that they are prepared right here. She mentioned that true hospitality is about this kind of care, not just sourcing from a restaurant.
During the townhouse tour, there were storerooms that only the head of the household can enter, and I was very curious about what was inside, but I couldn't ask. The tea room was also quite unique and piqued my interest.
It's a place you want to visit again and again. Although it's a bit far since it's in Nishijin, it's only about a three-minute walk from Ichijo Modoribashi (which is also close to Seimei Shrine) by bus, and you can easily reach it from Kyoto Station by bus as well. I think it's definitely worth seeing a real townhouse at least once.

Dear Popolo Studio,
Thank you very much for participating in the bus tour organized by Jumbo Tours. We appreciate your comments and the wonderful photos you shared about each sightseeing spot.
The course you joined takes you to Cape Hedo, the northernmost point of Okinawa, which involves a long travel distance. However, we believe you will find the journey comfortable in our spacious bus with ample seat spacing. Please note that our bus tours do not include a guide; instead, we provide audio guidance and our staff will assist you during the trip. Some may feel this is lacking, but we have friendly staff members who are happy to chat, so please feel free to approach them.
Additionally, while it may not be widely known, trekking at the power spot, Daishi Forest, offers a wonderfully refreshing experience, and we would love for more customers to visit this spot. Our current bus tour is the only one that includes lunch, allowing you to "taste Okinawa, feel nature, and be healed by the cute fish." This tour is designed to provide a fulfilling day for first-time visitors to Okinawa, as well as for repeat visitors who may have hesitated to drive to Cape Hedo.
Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We are considering developing new tours, so we hope you will choose our bus tours again on your next visit to Okinawa. We look forward to welcoming you back.
