This time, I signed up for stargazing, but unfortunately, it wasn't suitable for observing stars due to the bright moon, so I couldn't do it. During the jungle walk, the guide worked hard to find creatures for us. The guides from other tours seemed to know each other and shared information about the creatures they found, which was nice to see.
今回、天体観測がしたくて申し込んだのですが、月が明るかったりと星の観測には向いていなかったようで、残念ながらできませんでした。
ジャングルの散策では、ガイドさんが一生懸命生き物を探してくれました。

The guide known as "Hakase" was knowledgeable and entertaining, making it a tour where I could listen to him for a long time. The other two guides were also interesting, and I realized that the quality of the tour really depends on the guides. It was a cold day with bad weather, so we couldn't see the stars and didn't encounter many bugs, but the guide caught a coconut crab for us, which delighted my 6-year-old and 10-year-old children. 「ハカセ」と呼ばれているガイドさんが知識が豊富で面白くて、話をずっと聞いていられるツアーでした。他の２人のガイドさんもお話が面白くて、ツアーって本当にガイドさんの質で決まるんだなぁと思いました。寒くて天気も悪い日で星空も見えず、沢山の虫にも会えませんでしたが、ガイドさんがヤシガニを捕まえてきてくれて、６才と１０才の子ども達も大喜びでした。ありがとうございました。
真っ暗闇の山道を長靴で１〜２時間ほど散策します。自力で山道を歩けないようなあまり小さい子供だと参加は大変かもしれません。

We participated in a night tour on short notice to celebrate my eldest son's middle school graduation and high school entrance.
Due to the season, the temperature was low, and we couldn't see the coconut crabs... We also missed out on seeing many insects and reptiles, but our guide, Yūri, provided detailed explanations about the plants, stars, and Miyako Island, which made the experience very enjoyable. Thank you very much!

I felt it would be better if there were enough exploration lights for everyone (at least for the children). I believe the kids would have a much different experience by actively searching and discovering things themselves.

The guide was a young 20-year-old with little knowledge, and despite being a UNESCO World Heritage site, we couldn't find any wildlife, and there were no explanations provided. It was the worst experience I've had. In the end, the guide suggested we look for things ourselves. If we could do that, we wouldn't have joined the tour. Also, what was supposed to be a two-hour tour ended up being less than an hour and a half with no explanations, and other participants were also expressing their dissatisfaction. This tour was not worth the money.
20歳の若いガイドで知識が乏しく、せっかくの世界自然遺産なのに生物は見つけられないし、説明もなくて今までで最低でした。しまいには自分たちで探してみて、といったスタンス。それができたらツアーに参加していません。また2時間のはずが1時間半も経たずに説明もなく送られ、他の参加者も不満を漏らしていました。金額に値しないツアーでした。

This was my first time participating. My children love bugs, so we were looking forward to it. However, I had given up on other tours since they required participants to be in elementary school or older, but just before the trip, I found this tour that allows participation from age 3 and made an immediate reservation.
It was cloudy around noon, so I was worried about the starry sky, but we were able to see a sky full of stars. Since we had a 4-year-old with us, I thought they might be scared in the dark, but they were happy to follow their siblings with the flashlights that were provided, one for each of us.
We were able to find large and small coconut crabs, purple land hermit crabs, and other creatures, making it a very enjoyable tour. Additionally, we received photos from the day via LINE after the experience tour ended.

4歳がいたので、暗いところは怖がるかと思っていましたが、懐中電灯を1人1つずつ貸してくれたので嬉しそうに兄弟の後ろを行ってさがしてました。
ヤシガニも大きいのから小さいの、ムラサキオカヤドカリ、ゲジゲジ、などを見つけるかができ、とても楽しいツアーでした。

I was initially unsure about the location near the hotel, but I ended up feeling the incredible nature of Iriomote Island, as I got to see a coconut crab (it's rare to see two at once) and encountered a habu snake.
The closeness of the starry sky after turning off the lights on the beach is an experience that you can't have in the city, so I think those staying on Iriomote Island should consider participating in this.
*Even without joining a tour, you can see amazing starry skies in Iriomote, but I feel there is a difference between being in complete darkness and not.*

I participated in a night tour in Ishigaki Island! I had heard that it’s often hard to have clear skies during this season, but I was lucky enough to see the starry sky! Additionally, I was able to encounter many creatures, and the guide was very thorough in his introductions, which made it enjoyable! You can also rent rubber boots, so it felt safe and secure! I participated in mid-March. Although it rained heavily in the evening, it stopped by the time the tour started, and I was able to join without any issues. When I asked about the probability of encountering coconut crabs during the trip, the response was somewhat low, but in the end, we encountered coconut crabs multiple times, and I was able to see almost everything I wanted, including land hermit crabs and scorpions. We walked through the jungle to the coast, and they provided explanations about the plants and terrain. Unfortunately, we couldn't see the starry sky, so I would like to participate again if I have the chance.

夕方に運転が難しいほどの雨が降りましたがツアー開始時には雨も上がり無事に参加できました。移動中に本日のヤシガニとの遭遇確率を質問したところやや低めの回答でしたが、結果としてヤシガニも何度も遭遇し、他にもオカヤドカリやサソリモドキなど見たいものはほぼ見れました。ジャングルを抜けて海岸まで歩き、植物や地形の説明もしてくれます。残念ながら星空を見ることが出来ませんでしたので、機会があればまた参加したいと思います。

The starry sky was magnificent, and the guide was amazing. The moment the lights were turned off all at once, the starry sky became a lifelong memory. The Milky Way and shooting stars were incredible. I felt like a child again seeing creatures like the coconut crab and fireflies that I usually can't see. I also learned a lot from the guide about the names of the creatures and delicious local foods in Ishigaki. I was most moved by the young man who is working hard after moving here. Thank you very much.

I joined to see the coconut crab. I thought it would depend on luck, but I was able to see four of them. How lucky! The excitement of walking through the jungle at night, combined with the guide's excellent guidance and the starry sky, made for an amazing experience. On the bus to and from the location, the guide shared recommendations for shops, so we were fortunate to participate on the first day. This time, I attended with my wife, but I also want to take our children next time.

運次第かな？と思っていましたが、ヤシガニを4匹も見ることが出来ました。なんてラッキー。夜のジャングルを歩くワクワク感、ガイドさんの絶妙な案内に加え満天の星空も観ることができ最高の体験でした。
行き帰りのバスでガイドさんからオススメのお店など教えてもらったので、初日に参加した私達はツイてました。
今回は妻と二人の参加でしたが、子供達も連れて行ってあげたいと思いました。

I participated because I wanted to see various creatures and also observe the starry sky on Ishigaki Island for the first time. The starry sky was incredibly beautiful, and lying on the sandy beach to watch it was the best! The main focus was searching for coconut crabs, and I encountered four of them, including a rare baby coconut crab! The kids also had a great time, so it was wonderful. After that, you can stroll through the forest and limestone caves, looking for insects, animals, and plants. You can enjoy tracking with a guide while listening to explanations about the coconut crabs and bats of Ishigaki Island. However, the explanations about the stars may be somewhat lacking, so if you want to fully enjoy the night sky, I recommend joining a different tour.

Exploring the pitch-black forest and beach with a flashlight was a bit scary, but it was exciting. I wanted to see the starry sky, but it was cloudy on the day, so I could hardly see any stars...
As for the creatures, I was disappointed not to see the coconut crab, but I was able to find eels and other crabs! The gobies were cute.
There were parts that didn't go as I hoped, but our guides, Macchan and Shikachan, kept the mood bright and lively, which strangely lifted my spirits (laughs). I want to go again on a sunny day during a warm season!

We participated as a family with a 6-year-old child and parents in their 60s. I was worried because the weather was bad and it was drizzling, but the guide's talk was interesting, and we enjoyed ourselves on the way to the location.
The site was exciting as we ventured into a dark, deep forest that ordinary people can't enter. Walking through caves and rocky areas was also fun. We were able to see about three coconut crabs, which was our main goal. We also found frogs and insects, and my sons, who love insects and reptiles, were thrilled. Although we couldn't see the starry sky due to the rain, there were so many trees that the light rain didn't bother us, and we were very satisfied with the tour.
６歳の子どもと６０代の父母との家族での参加でした。天気が悪く雨がちらついていたため不安でしたが、ガイドさんのトークも面白く、現地に向かう道中から楽しめました。
現地は、普通の人は入っていけないような真っ暗な深い森の中を進んでいき、とてもわくわくしました。洞窟や岩場を歩くのも面白かったです。お目当てのヤシガニも３匹ほど見ることができました。他にもカエルや虫を見つけて、昆虫やは虫類が大好きな息子たちは大喜びでした。雨のため星空は見れませんでしたが木がたくさんあるので、小雨も気にならず大満足のツアー内容でした。

Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy this time, so we couldn't see the starry sky, but I hope to see many stars next time I participate. ツアーの担当者の方々は、行きも帰りも車内の中で楽しい話をたくさんしてくださり、知らなかったこともたくさん聞けて最初から最後まで盛りだくさんに楽しませていただきました。
今回は、天気が曇りだったので残念ながら星空は観ることが出来ませんでしたが、次回参加した時には星空がたくさん観れたら嬉しいなと思っています。

It was a fun three hours! During the drive, the guide shared a lot of interesting facts about Ishigaki Island, so I was never bored until the end. The tour itself can be affected by the weather and luck on the day, but this time we were fortunate to have clear skies and see a beautiful starry night.
楽しい3時間でした！車での移動時間もガイドさんが石垣島豆知識をたくさんお話してくれたので最後まで飽きることなくすごせました。ツアー自体は当日の天気と運に左右されますが、今回は運良く晴れて綺麗な星空をみることができました。

I was a bit anxious about traveling alone as a university student, but the guide was very kind, and I was fortunate to have great fellow tour participants, which made the tour enjoyable from start to finish.
