I had been interested in the wagashi (Japanese sweets) experience for a while, and I finally got the chance to do it during a family trip.

The craftsman provided thorough guidance, and I was able to create satisfying sweets.

Using the tools for making sweets, I was usually moved by the finished products, but being able to create them myself brought me a great sense of fulfillment, and I had a really enjoyable time. The hour flew by.

If someone I know visits Kyoto, I would definitely recommend this place!

There were many school trip students, and I thought it might be a bit challenging before it started, but there were assistants who taught us patiently. I think the time allocation was good and not too busy. It was also a great idea to include the matcha tea afterward. I enjoyed tasting the sweets and matcha. The timing was perfect as we checked out just before our return Shinkansen.

Time allowed was good for each section. The explanation was patient and detailed. The demonstration was good, so I could understand what they wanted to say even though they didn’t spend time in English.

修学旅行生が多くて、始まる前はちょっと大変かなと思いましたが、アシスタントの方もいて丁寧に教えてもらいました。

We participated with two children aged 7 and 9, and one adult, but it was too difficult for one child to manage alone, so I had to stay close to the younger one. The older child couldn't get much support and ended up crying because they didn't understand how to make it, so I think one adult should accompany each child.

The wagashi we made ourselves was very delicious, and even the children, who usually don't eat red bean paste, said it was tasty and enjoyed it. I definitely want to experience this again.

7歳・9歳の子供2人と大人1人で参加しましが、子供一人で作るには難易度が高く、下の子に付きっきりになってしまいました。上の子は殆どフォロー出来ず、作り方が分からなくなり泣いてしまったので子供1人につき大人1人の付き添いが必要だと思います。
自分で作った和菓子はとても美味しく、普段餡子を食べない子供達も美味しいと言って食べていました。
ぜひまた体験したいと思います。

I didn't expect to experience this with so many people at once, so I was a bit confused. I participated with a group of school trip students, but one person was feeling unwell and seemed to be having a hard time in the restroom. Given the situation, I found it hard to concentrate and it felt a bit awkward. When I was younger, I might have left feeling uncomfortable. The store was located in a very quiet area, and upon entering, it was a cozy little shop filled with delicious-looking wagashi (Japanese sweets). I initially thought the experience would be for a small group of about eight people, but more and more guests kept coming in, and it turned into a group of around twenty. Since the store itself was small, I was a bit worried, but the experience room on the second floor was quite spacious, and I didn't feel cramped at all. There were four handwashing stations, and everyone washed their hands before being shown to their seats. There was one instructor handling everything for the twenty participants, which seemed a bit challenging, but I didn't feel like we had to wait excessively. The dough was prepared in advance, and we shaped it from there. There was a camera focused on the instructor's hands, allowing those seated further away to clearly see what was happening. We made three types of namagashi (fresh sweets, mainly kneading by hand and shaping with special tools) and one type of okashi (dry sweets, rolling out the dough and cutting it with molds). The instructor's explanations were easy to understand, and they were very cheerful, making the experience enjoyable. Boxes and bags for taking home were provided, and I took everything home except for the one I ate on the spot. I would like to visit again when the seasons change.

店舗はとても静かな場所にあり、入ると美味しそうな和菓子がずらりと並んだこじんまりしたお店でした。最初は8人ぐらいの小規模なグループで行われると思っていましたが、次から次へと体験客が入店し、20名ほどの団体になっていました。店舗自体が狭かったので大丈夫かなと心配していたところ、2階の体験教室は全然広々としていて、狭いと感じることもありませんでした。手洗い場は4つあり、体験前にみんな手を洗って席に案内されました。20名に対し講師の方がおひとりで全て対応されていたので、少し大変そうでしたが、めちゃくちゃ待たされたという印象も特にないです。生地が予め用意されてあり、それを成形していくような感じでした。講師の方の手元を写すカメラがあり、遠くの席でもしっかりと何が行われているのかを見れるようにされていました。上生菓子を3種類(主に手でコネて、専用の器具で成形していく)、お干菓子を1種類(生地をめん棒で伸ばして型抜き)。講師の方の説明も分かりやすく、とても陽気な方で楽しませてくれました。持ち帰り用の箱や袋も用意されており、その場で食べた一つ以外は全て持ち帰りました。また季節が変わったら訪れたいと思います。

I love Kyoto and have visited several times. I signed up for a wagashi (Japanese sweets) making experience because it was easy to apply, and it was so much fun. I participated with my daughter, and we laughed a lot while competing to see who could make the best sweets. There were many participants during Golden Week, and the staff seemed to have a tough time, but the teacher's explanations were clear, and I was impressed to learn how wagashi is made. I would love to participate again if I have the chance. Thank you very much!

手軽に申し込めたので和菓子作り体験に申込ましたが、とても楽しかったです。
娘と参加しましたが、競い合うように作業してたくさん笑いました。
ゴールデンウィークで参加人数も多く、事務局の方々は大変そうでしたが、先生の説明は分かりやすく、和菓子ってこんな感じで作ってるんやなあと感動でした。
また機会があれば参加したいです。

It was my first experience making wagashi (Japanese sweets). I struggled with wrapping the anko (sweet red bean paste), but it was fun. Perhaps because there were so many people during Golden Week, it would have been even better if the craftsman could have gone around the tables to give advice.

Since there were only four participants, I was able to take my time and receive guidance while making things! One of the items could be enjoyed with matcha there, and the others could be taken home, which was great! I definitely want to participate again!

I had a great time experiencing something I normally wouldn't be able to do. However, it seemed like the allotted time was short, and if I took my time, I felt like I was being left behind. I think if there were a bit more time, I could have created things more carefully. The staff were very kind, and I had a good experience. Thank you.

普段出来ないような体験ができて楽しかったです。

I went at the end of March and made four types of sweets. The dough was already prepared, and I had a lot of fun shaping them using traditional methods. It was a really great experience. The grandfather who taught us had a wonderfully laid-back teaching style, which made it easy to relax and enjoy the process. I was pregnant at the time, and my baby was moving around too, which was quite amusing!

This time, we learned at a table for twelve, and there was a monitor that showed the craftsman's hands up close, allowing for a slow and thorough explanation. They also moved around the seats, which made it easy to understand. We made four types of seasonal sweets, each with different ingredients, textures, and flavors, which was enjoyable. At the end, we had the freshly made "kanoko" with matcha, and I felt it was a shame that it disappeared so quickly after making it, but as an experience, I was very satisfied.

今回は１２名１テーブルで教わりましたが、教えて下さる職人さんの手元を大きく写すモニターもあり、ゆっくり丁寧に説明してくれますし、席を回ってもくれるので、解りやすかったです。季節のお菓子を４種作りましたが、材料が違って、手触りも味も違って楽しかったです。最後に出来たてが美味しい鹿の子をお抹茶と一緒に頂いて、作ってすぐに消えてしまうのが惜しい気になりましたが、それも体験として、とても満足しました。

I was anxious since it was my first time, but they taught me carefully, and after having fun making the sweets, I enjoyed the matcha they provided along with the wagashi I made myself. I was able to eat one of them there, and the other two were packed in a box and a tote bag they prepared for me to take home as souvenirs.
