I made four types of sweets! Since it's autumn, I prepared ginkgo-shaped dried sweets and two types of nerikiri, along with one type of kinton. It was fun to wrap the smooth red bean paste in colored dough and shape it with a spatula! There were four participants, and it was interesting to see everyone's personalities come through, with some being delicate and others being bold.

On the day of the lesson, it was just my daughter and me. The teacher's explanations were clear and easy to follow, even for elementary school students. I am grateful for the opportunity to experience making traditional Japanese sweets at a great price. I would like to recommend it to my friends. However, when I arrived in front of the store 10 minutes before the meeting time, we couldn't enter yet, and the doors opened exactly at the meeting time. Considering the time needed for the restroom and getting ready, I wish they would open a little earlier.

当日は娘と2人だけのレッスンでした。先生の説明は丁寧な手順でわかりやすく小学生でもついていけました。和菓子作り体験をお得に体験出来てありがたいです。友人にも紹介したいと思いました。ただ、集合時間10分前に店舗前に行くと中にまだ入れず、集合時間ぴったりに開いたので、トイレや身支度の時間も考えるともう少し早く開けて欲しいと思いました。

You can do three + one cookie cutters and choose to eat the third one with the matcha made at the shop. I decided to enjoy it on the spot since it was a special occasion. It was delicious, pairing well with the bitter matcha. You also receive a box and bag for takeout. No belongings are needed, and camera shooting is allowed during the experience.

Since there were only a few people, I was able to receive detailed and clear instruction. I was happy that I was able to make the fresh sweets even better than I expected. There were also participants around high school age, so I think beginners and even middle school students can join as well.

I participated alone, but thanks to the kind and attentive staff, I had a great time! I was a bit worried about sitting seiza on tatami mats, but it was nice that both the sweets-making and tea experiences were done sitting at a table and chairs! The explanation for the sweets-making was a bit fast, and I barely managed to keep up, but there were examples, and I did fairly well! They provided red bean paste from a shop in Kyoto, and it was very delicious! I had the tea experience as well, so it wasn't a problem for me, but I felt that the recommendation for a drink at 500 yen, since outside drinks were prohibited, was a bit pushy for other customers. I thought it would be nice to offer a small amount of tea or water for those taking sweets home. I felt that could have been a bit more considerate. They also set aside time for photography, and it was great that they helped with the shooting and lent out photo backdrops! It was a very Kyoto-like experience, so I would like to bring my friends next time!

I participated in the morning session, and since there were no other participants, the craftsman kindly taught me how to make wagashi in great detail.

It's certainly appealing that we can make a total of four types of wagashi, and the craftsman also shared information about the ingredients used and seasonal stories, making it a satisfying experience that engaged all five senses.

After making the wagashi, I was able to eat one of my creations along with matcha, and the rest were packaged for me to take home.

We participated as a family of three generations. It was easy for my elementary school child and my elderly mother to understand, as we could watch the teacher's demonstrations on a monitor. I had a wonderful trip to Kyoto, but since the weather forecast predicted rain, I was looking for indoor experiential events and was drawn to the idea of making wagashi (Japanese sweets), so I decided to participate.

A craftsman explained and made the sweets alongside us, and although it was a bit challenging, I was thrilled to be able to create something that looked like it could be sold!

The access was a bit inconvenient, but I was very satisfied to make four types of wagashi and also enjoy some matcha.

It seems that different shapes of wagashi can be made depending on the season, so I hope to come back during a different season.
