I participated with two boys, a middle schooler and an elementary school student. The explanations were thorough, and we had fun making and enjoying the food. My sons were also happy. Regarding COVID-19 measures, there were partitions for each group, and the instructor wore a mask and face shield. Before we started, we were encouraged to wash our hands and use alcohol disinfectant, which I thought was well managed.

The staff wore face shields and masks, and the ventilation was good, so the COVID-19 measures were properly implemented. I thought it would be mostly for foreigners, but almost everyone was Japanese. There were families with children, groups of friends, and solo visitors, but it felt like there were more women. The staff were friendly, engaging in conversation and even taking commemorative photos, creating a very nice atmosphere. Due to time constraints, the explanations felt a bit rushed, but it was easy to make even for beginners, and since they used good quality ingredients, it was very easy and delicious to enjoy. In the tea experience area, there were photos of Kyoto scenery on one wall, which was perfect for Instagram!

店員の方もフェイスシールドとマスク着用、換気もされていて、コロナ対策がきちんとなされてました。外国人向けかと思ったら、ほぼみんな日本人。お子様連れの方や、友達同士、一人で来ている方もいましたが、女性が多い印象。店員の方も気さくに話しかけてくださったり、記念写真を撮ってくださったり、とてもいい雰囲気でした。時間の関係か、やや説明が駆け足な感じでしたが、初心者でも作りやすく、もともとの材料がいいものを使われているため、とても作りやすくおいしく頂けました。お茶体験する場所では、京都の風景写真が壁の一面にあり、インスタ映えもバッチリでした笑

Although I usually have opportunities to eat wagashi, it was my first time making it myself, and I participated with a mix of anxiety about whether I could make it beautifully, given my clumsiness, and excitement. The first flower shape I made didn't turn out exactly like the example, but I was quite satisfied with the result. The second task of pressing the anko into the holey ladle was very enjoyable. After making them, we took a lot of photos! I would like to visit again in a different season and make a different shape of nerikiri.

今回友人と2人で体験させて頂きました。普段和菓子を食べる機会はあるものの、自分で作るのは初めてで不器用な私に綺麗に作れるのか不安な気持ちとワクワクした気持ちで参加しました。1つ目に作った花形はやはりお手本通りのような形にはならなかったものの、かなり満足のいく出来になりました。2つ目の穴の空いたおたまに餡子を押し付ける作業はとても楽しかったです。作った後も写真を沢山撮って頂きました！また違う季節に訪問して違う形の練り切りを作りたいです。

Although I felt a bit anxious due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was able to participate with peace of mind as they conducted temperature checks and provided alcohol disinfectant, and there was a comfortable distance between participants and the instructor. The wagashi-making was easy to understand, even for beginners, and my clumsy husband was able to make some too. During the tea ceremony experience, we were the only ones there, and we learned everything from the explanation of the tools to how to prepare the tea, which we enjoyed very much. I think it was a very fulfilling hour. I heard that the wagashi changes with the seasons, so I would like to participate again.

We had an experience making traditional Japanese sweets in the fall, creating cosmos and chrysanthemums. There were about 15 of us starting at the same time, but three staff members were there to help, so they guided us through any uncertainties. It was quite challenging, but I enjoyed making them, so it was great. You can enjoy the sweets on-site, but if you don't include the tea experience, you'll need to bring your own tea. You can also take them home for an additional box fee.

As for COVID-19 measures, temperature checks, disinfection, and mask-wearing are mandatory. The staff also had face shields and other precautions in place.

15人程度で同時にスタートでしたが、スタッフが3人ほどついてくれるので分からないところは教えてくれます。
なかなか難しかったのですが、楽しく作れたので良かったです。
お菓子はその場でいただけますが、お手前体験をつけない場合はお茶がないので持参しました。
持ち帰りも箱代プラスで可能です。

I experienced making wagashi (Japanese sweets) for the first time. I didn't have any prior knowledge, but the staff taught me patiently, making it a fun experience. They also shared interesting trivia about wagashi, which was educational. Even as someone who is not very skilled, I was satisfied with the beautiful colors and shapes I created. If you love matcha, I definitely recommend participating in the tea ceremony experience. However, if I had to mention one thing I would like to improve, it would be that there was not enough time to eat after making the wagashi. Since I participated in the tea ceremony, I only had about 10 minutes to eat after preparing the matcha. With the next group of customers arriving, those who prefer to take their time might feel a bit rushed (laughs). It was a great experience, and I was happy to have my photos taken.

初めて和菓子作りを体験しました。前もって何も知識は得てなかったのですが、お店の方が丁寧に教えてくださったので楽しく出来ました。和菓子に関する豆知識を交えて説明してもら得たので、勉強にもなりました。不器用な自分でも、綺麗な色や形が出来たので満足です。お手前の体験も抹茶好きな方なら是非参加されてみてください。ただ、ひとつこうしてほしいってところを挙げるとしたら、和菓子を作り終えて、食べる時間が少なかったというところです。お手前の体験に参加したので、抹茶を立て終えた後では食べる時間が10分くらいでした。次の時間帯のお客さんも来られたので、マイペース気味な方ならすこし、急かされる気分になるかもしれません（笑）
いい経験ができました。写真も撮って頂いて嬉しかったです。

This time, I traveled to Kyoto with a friend. Until now, our main focus has been visiting temples and shrines, so we wanted to try something more characteristic of Kyoto and signed up for a workshop.

I was a bit anxious about whether we could make two items in 30 minutes, including time for taking photos, but with the guidance of the kind and attentive staff, we managed to do it well. It felt more like a concentrated 30 minutes rather than a rushed experience.

I was very satisfied with the finished wagashi, and the two pieces turned out to be very cute. I heard that the designs change with the seasons, so I would like to try again.

I also felt that sufficient measures were taken for COVID-19 prevention. While hand washing is not done, hand sanitizing is, and we wore disposable gloves throughout the experience, so I don't think there were any particular issues. However, the inside of the gloves was sweaty after the experience, and wet wipes were provided.

今回、友人と二人での京都旅行。今までは寺社仏閣巡りがメインなので何か京都っぽいコトをしてみたいと申し込みました。

駆け足と言うよりも３０分集中、の印象でした。
和菓子の出来上がりも満足でとても可愛らしい２品です。季節が違えばデザインもまた変わると伺ったのでまたチャレンジしてみたいです。
新型コロナ対策も充分にされていると感じました。手指消毒はしますが手洗いはしません、が全編使い捨てビニール手袋をしますので特段の問題はないのでは。体験後の手袋の中は汗まみれです、ウエットティッシュが準備されています。

I think the person teaching us was a wagashi (Japanese sweets) artisan, but I wish they could have been a bit kinder in their instruction. Later on, I felt frustrated when they pointed out what I should have done differently. It ended with just their comments, and there was no follow-up. If that was the case, I would have preferred them to either guide us carefully from the start to avoid mistakes or teach us in a more relaxed manner. I wasn't there to master wagashi making; I just wanted to enjoy interacting with it, so it was disappointing.

教えてくださる方は、和菓子職人さんだと思うのですが、もう少し優しく教えてくれてもいいのになと思いました。後になって、ああすればよかったのに…とダメだしされて困りました。言いっぱなしで終わりで、フォローはありません。だったら最初から失敗しないように丁寧にみていただくか、もしくはもっとおおらかに教えていただきたかったです。和菓子作りを習得しにきているわけではなく、あくまで楽しく和菓子にふれあいたかったので、残念でした。

I was unsure about going during the pandemic, but I decided to give it a try, and the experience was private. I was able to have the craftsman all to myself, and I could closely observe their techniques, which allowed me to thoroughly enjoy the experience.

Additionally, since it was a change of seasons, I was able to choose to make "chrysanthemum" and "bellflower" for the nerikiri. The finished sweets included two types for take-home, and I enjoyed one type on the spot with freshly prepared matcha.

Perhaps because it was a private experience, the craftsman showed me how to make the "chrysanthemum" nerikiri that I hadn’t chosen during the extra time after the experience, and I also got to see an original "chrysanthemum," which made me feel fortunate.

I had a truly wonderful time!

コロナ禍で、どうかと思いましたが、思い切って行ってみたら、体験は貸し切り。職人さんを独り占めでき、手技も間近で見せて頂けて、じっくり楽しむことが出来ました。
また、季節の変わり目だったため、練り切りに関しては「菊」と「桔梗」を選んで作ることが出来ました。
出来上がったお菓子は2種類は持ち帰り用に、1種類はお抹茶を立てて下さりその場で頂いてきました。
貸し切りということもあったのか、職人さんが体験後に余った時間で今回選ばなかった「菊」の練り切りを作るところを見せて下さり、また、オリジナルの「菊」も見せて頂いて得した気分。

とても素敵な時間を過ごすことが出来ました！

Since we were the only ones participating, we were able to enjoy ourselves freely. However, the instructor was quite focused on their work, and there wasn't much small talk. The teaching pace was fast, and the experience ended in an instant, which was a bit disappointing. Those who are trying wagashi-making for the first time might not enjoy it as much. We made three pieces, enjoyed one with matcha, and took the rest home as souvenirs. They were very delicious.

Regarding COVID-19 measures, the instructor wore a face shield, there was handwashing before starting (disposable towels were provided), and there were sanitization measures in place, so the precautions were thorough.

I participated in this event thinking it would create wonderful summer memories for my child, as they love traditional Japanese sweets. On the day of the event, I arrived early and called to let them know, but I was told I couldn't enter because they needed to prepare, so I waited outside for about 15 minutes until it started. When it was time to go in, there weren't many people and the space was large, but since it was hot and I had my child with me, I wished I could have waited at the entrance. However, it seems there are rules in place, so if entry is absolutely not allowed, it might be better to mention that on the website for everyone's benefit. The person who helped me was different and provided thorough guidance. This time, we made hibiscus and sunflower sweets. They were very delicious. Thank you!

当日は早く着いてしまい電話したところ、準備をしなければならないので中には入れないと言われ、外で始まる5分ぐらいまで待機（15分程度）してました。時間になり、中に入れてもらうと人もいないし広かったので、子供もいたし暑かったので入り口で待たせて欲しかったなと思いましたが、ルールがあるみたいだったので、もし絶対に入れさせないのであればホームページに記載した方がお互い良いのかと思いました。
教えてくれた方はまた違う方で丁寧に教えてくれました。今回はハイビスカスとひまわりを作りました。とても美味しかったです。ありがとうございます。

I love Kyoto and have traveled here many times, but this time I thought, "I want to have a unique Kyoto experience!" My daughter, who is a university student, and I both love seeing and eating beautiful wagashi (Japanese sweets), and I was excited to see if I could make such beautiful wagashi myself. It was my first experience, but I was taught very carefully, and I was able to enjoy making them.

After finishing and taking lots of photos, when I enjoyed the matcha I whisked myself along with the sweets, I became quite attached to them and felt it was almost a shame to eat them. The taste was also surprising; I heard they use ingredients from a long-established wagashi shop, and they were very delicious.

It became a very memorable day for our mother-daughter trip. Thank you!

During our visit, we coincidentally encountered a beautiful geisha leaving, and we talked about wanting to try a geisha experience next time as we headed home. The sweets we made were intended as a souvenir for their grandmother, so we brought them home without eating any. It was also convenient to get there, just one station away from Kyoto Station by subway. The children were very satisfied, and it was an experience we would definitely like to do again. Since it was early in the morning, we were the only participants. The instructor was wearing a face shield and a mask, taking proper precautions, and there was hand sanitizer at the entrance. I felt safe while creating.
We made hibiscus and sunflowers. It felt a bit challenging, but it was very enjoyable, and the teaching was incredibly thorough, making it a fun experience.

We wanted to experience something truly Kyoto-like, so we used this service as a couple. The staff taught us with great care, and we had a wonderful time together! I really enjoyed the detailed work since I love it, but my husband, who struggles with fine tasks, had a tough time throughout. (laughs)

It seems that the seasonal wagashi (Japanese sweets) flowers change, and during this time, the sunflowers were cute and summery!

At the end of the experience, we enjoyed them deliciously with matcha! Due to thorough ventilation measures for infection control, it was a bit hot.

Making wagashi (Japanese sweets) was interesting. However, the craftsman’s attitude was not very pleasant. The table was small and cramped, so I was quite worried about being so close to people from other groups. The craftsman was wearing a face shield and didn’t seem very friendly.

What was even more disappointing was that at the end, the craftsman evaluated each person's wagashi based on their own judgment, and those who received good evaluations were given wagashi made by the craftsman as a gift. I felt disappointed because my own creations, which I liked, were overlooked in the evaluation. Although I didn’t receive anything at the end, I was given one leftover wagashi, while other groups received two. It felt unfair since we all paid the same amount for the experience.

We made four pieces (though one was just cut out), with two to eat on the spot and two to take home. If we were to take some home, it would affect our schedule afterward, so I wish they had mentioned in the instructions that taking them home was necessary. The phrase "takeaway available" can be interpreted as being able to eat there or take them home.

とてもテンポよく、次々に手順は進んでいくものの、作り方は分かりやすく、初めての練りきりを作ることが出来ました。

低学年の子供も不器用ながら、一生懸命自分なりの練りきりを作って、自分で作ったものを食べてその美味しさにとても満足していました。

ゆっくり、自分のペースで手本と同じようなものを作りたい子には少しテンポが早いかもしれませんが、小学中学年の子は同じスピードでも、形になっていたので、興味を持ってもらうための掴みの体験にはとてもよかったです。

時間もとても早く予約したのにも関わらず、対応して頂けたので、お陰様で、睡眠が19時の乳児がいて行動できる時間が短くても、清水寺と三年坂二年坂を休み休みゆっくりと子供の足でもみてまわることができました。

時期が違うとまた他の形も作ることが出来るとの事でしたのでまた、利用させて頂きたいと思います。本日はありがとうございました。

I had a reservation for 14:30, but when I arrived around 14:00, I was told at the entrance to "please wait until your time." There weren't any cafes or places to sit nearby, so I recommend arriving as close to your reservation time as possible.

Inside, we were guided in groups, and on the table, there were samples of what we would be making today along with introductions to the flowers. The samples looked a bit rough (I realized after making my own that I wasn't as skilled as I thought, so I apologize for that).

They also provided vinyl gloves, so I didn't have to worry much about hygiene. The pace of the explanations was faster than I expected, but if you overthink things, you probably won't have enough time, so I think the timing was just right.

My finished product looked quite ugly at first glance, but it was manageable with the right photo angle. After that, I was taught how to prepare matcha and how to enjoy the sweets, and the experience concluded. It was about an hour-long experience, and I had fun making things.

味もとっても美味しかったです。
ただ、お点前体験付きプランと書いてあったのに、和菓子作り体験のみの予約となっていたようで、現地で追加料金がかかってしまいました。
あとで予約確認しましたが、やはりお点前体験付きと書いてあり、余分に料金を支払ったのではないかと思い、そこは少し残念でした…。
プラン内容について、分かりやすく書いていただければ良かったと思います。

I invited my sister to participate because I wanted my 5-year-old child to experience it. The explanations were gentle and thorough, making it enjoyable. My child wasn't fond of wagashi, so the two of us made one serving (two pieces), but I was surprised that my son ate both pieces. I had a little as well, and it was very delicious. The matcha we ordered additionally was elegant and extremely tasty. I recommend this to anyone considering participating. Next time, I plan to invite my husband and mother as well.

優しく丁寧な説明で、楽しく出来ました。
子供は和菓子が苦手だったので、私と2人で1人分(2個)作りましたが息子が2個ともほとんど食べてしまい驚きでした。
私も少し頂きましたが、とても美味しかったです。
追加で頼んだ、立たてのお抹茶も上品で大変美味しかったです。
参加される方に、お勧めします。
今度は、夫や母も誘って行こうと思います。

It was great to have a 30-minute experience without needing to bring anything. There was one instructor and two assistants. The participants were all women in their teens to twenties. If you want to take home what you made, there’s an additional 100 yen for a take-home bag, and for those who want to eat on-site, you can get matcha for 500 yen if you wish. I recommend this for those who want a short experience, but if you have more time, I think the course where you can see the artisans at work would be more satisfying.

開始から終了まで30分、手ぶらで体験できたのはとても良かったです。
教えてくださるのはインストラクター1名と補助で2名。参加者は10-20代の女性ばかりでした。
作ったものを持ち帰る場合は別途持ち帰り袋が100円、その場で食べる人は希望すれば500円でお抹茶がつけれるようです。
短時間で体験したい方にはおすすめですが、時間のある方は職人さんの手作業が見れるコースの方が満足度が高いかなと思いました。

中に入ると、テーブルに練り切り2個の手本が置いてあり、スタッフの方の説明を聞きながら見本と同じように作りました。説明は丁寧で楽しく作ることができました。

At the very beginning of my trip to Kyoto, I had the opportunity to experience making sweets. I was taught carefully, step by step, and I was able to create wagashi that I was satisfied with. Even with the same instructions, the shapes turned out completely different depending on the person making them, which adds a personal touch. I think it would be fun to compare our creations with friends after finishing. Additionally, the anko used was very delicious. Enjoying the sweets I made while having a hanami was the best, and it became a wonderful memory of my trip! I would love to participate again!
