I was moved by the beauty of nature when I saw the golden chrysalis of the Papilio butterfly in the butterfly garden! The mangrove cruise allows the boat to get quite close, providing a rare view that you can't see in Honshu. Although the tour starts early, you can enjoy a full day of activities, making it very fulfilling.

In a short amount of time, I was able to efficiently tour the islands, seeing various sights such as the Iriomote Mangrove Cruise, the water buffalo cart in Yufu, and the star sand beach in Taketomi through a bus tour. I considered sightseeing without a rental car, but since transportation options were limited, I decided to join a tour. It allows you to explore Mishima very efficiently. The mangrove cruise passed by in no time, making me forget the passage of time. The water buffalo worked hard to pull the cart to Yubu Island, and they were very clever and diligent. The island was full of plants and connected to the beach, allowing us to have a fun time.
I was disappointed with the buffet for lunch, but the oil soba I tried without expectations was incredibly delicious—was it the magic of shikwasa?
The only downside was the rental bicycles on Taketomi Island; while I could tolerate the worn and rusty ones, the handlebars were crooked, making it very difficult to ride after not cycling for a while.

It was forecasted to rain, but it cleared up and the tour went smoothly without any issues. The boat ride on the way there was quite bumpy, but no one got seasick. Since it was high tide when we visited the mangroves, I would like to see the low tide state as well. The bus driver to the water buffalo riding spot on Iriomote Island was very entertaining. Bicycles are a must on Taketomi Island. Although it's not a very large island, I thought it would be challenging to cycle around it. Lunch was served buffet-style, and the taste was fairly good.

I received a sudden call in the morning asking if we could leave earlier, without any explanation. It was stressful for my family, who were already preparing.
Disappointment 2:
The captain was very friendly and left a good impression throughout, but the other person (who was mainly responsible for explanations and guidance) was a bit arrogant in their explanations. I wish they could have spoken in a more enjoyable manner.
Disappointment 3:
This is common, but due to the season, Barasu Island is submerged (it reportedly appears around 6 AM at the end of September). If you're promoting Barasu Island, I would like this kind of information to be clearly stated. Alternatively, if it can't be seen, I would prefer to start snorkeling immediately without stopping by the submerged Barasu Island.

Even though it was a full-day tour, we returned to the port to pick up participants who joined in the afternoon.

I was excited on the ferry to Iriomote Island, and I was thrilled to see the mangroves. Although I didn't see the wildcat, I really felt the abundance of nature. On the return water buffalo cart from Yufu Island, I was captivated by the guide's sanshin and singing, while the water buffalo took a rest... I was able to spend a relaxing time.
