The water buffalo on Yubu Island are truly adorable! Hearing that you got completely hooked on their charm and picked up lots of souvenirs made me smile too. The time spent being healed by their leisurely pace is truly a luxury unique to Iriomote Island.

During the afternoon canoeing, it was a delight to hear you say "This is amazing!" while in the middle of the wide river! The time spent soaking in the crisp winter air and negative ions is incredibly refreshing. Your bright smile after the shower was also wonderful!

This is Macchan, your guide! It was unfortunate that we had to cancel the snorkeling, but I’m really glad you enjoyed canoeing and Yubu Island to the fullest despite the strong winds, which could be considered a winter initiation of Iriomote Island!

The canoe route definitely ignites the adventurous spirit of wanting to go "deeper into the jungle!" We choose the safest best route based on the wind and tide conditions of the day, but let’s definitely plan a comeback on a calmer day! I’ll take you to an even narrower and more exciting "secret route!"

I’m also glad to hear you enjoyed your time at Yubu Island! When you’re relaxing while eating that gelato, it feels like island time is fast-forwarding, doesn’t it? (laughs)

Although the weather was clear on that day, we guided you to switch to kayaking based on safety standards related to wind speed and tidal changes, in accordance with our company manual. However, we regret that we could not provide a satisfactory explanation for this decision, which led to feelings of distrust regarding the reasoning behind it. The guides and staff deeply reflect on this matter. Moving forward, we will strive to communicate our criteria for on-site decisions more clearly and ensure sincere responses.

Since the Hija River is located right in the city, many visitors are amazed by the abundant nature when they arrive! The river is also the largest on Okinawa Island, and its slow current makes it easy for beginners to paddle. Additionally, while we explain things during the tour, it may be hard to notice, but the tour actually covers about one kilometer one way.

When you get on the kayak, your bottom will get wet, so a change of clothes and a towel are essential. However, at Kayak Ease, we offer free rental of raincoats and sandals, so you can come with just your essentials.
