We walked along the gently flowing river to the waterfall, where we saw river fish, crabs, and gobies. I tried to chase and catch them, but they were too quick and escaped. I had my first experience of shower trekking, walking along a beautiful river with unspoiled nature, on a course that is easy for beginners. If you love nature, you can enjoy it even if you're not good at sports. While stand-up paddleboarding in the mangroves, I bumped into a curve, but the board protected me.

The waterfall was about 5 meters high and compact, but it had a pool-like basin where you can swim and have fun. The beauty of the sunlight streaming into the dark cave made me feel wrapped in nature, allowing me to relax.

The boat ride to Balas Island revealed coral formations that looked like mountains, and you can enjoy a world of white and blue from anywhere. There were boats for snorkeling and diving at a distance, and it was a very popular spot with many people stopping by Balas Island.

I was considering experiencing an outdoor tour, and with plenty of options available until the day of departure, I discussed with my friends and made a reservation with Pipi.

On the day of the tour, I was worried about the unstable weather and whether it would rain, but by the time we got on the stand-up paddleboard and entered the mangrove river, it started to clear up, and the sunlight shining through the trees was dazzling and beautiful!

When my friend and I arrived at the waterfall in the jungle, we felt the strong life force of nature with our whole bodies. After that, we headed to the limestone cave in the morning, thinking it might be physically tough, but we were able to explore without getting tired at all. We were amazed to see a termite mound up close and were so impressed by the untouched limestone caves that we quickly made our way through three of them. Inside the caves, when light was shone, the water droplets reflected beautifully, creating a fantastical atmosphere, and it felt like we were on a remote island cut off from the outside world, experiencing something extraordinary. After lunch, we landed on Baras Island. My friend and I had a great time splashing around on the white coral and floating, which felt incredibly liberating. I was also happy that Mr. Kurizawa sent us the photos taken at the places we visited on the same day via LINE.

友人と2人ジャングルの中で無心になりながら滝に着くと、ありのままの自然の強い生命力を体いっぱいに感じました。

I wanted to experience SUP, so I decided on this one based on the good reviews. They were very accommodating even with a last-minute reservation and offered helpful advice. Due to tidal conditions, we had to cancel the landing on Barasu Island, so they changed my plan to a half-day considering my stamina.

I was the only one doing SUP while others were in canoes, but there were no waves, so I was able to get on quickly. We smoothly made our way to the waterfall, enjoying the scent of the Sagari-bana flowers floating in the river, which is only available during this season.

Even though I participated alone, I was able to enjoy the experience with the other participants in a friendly atmosphere. I didn't use my smartphone because I was worried about dropping it, but I took many photos, and they sent them to me later via LINE.

After that, we had a cave experience. Since the others went on a different plan, I had a one-on-one session with the instructor and learned a lot from our conversations. I won’t say much for those who will experience it in the future. I’m really glad I joined this tour on my first trip to Iriomote Island! I highly recommend it for anyone interested in SUP and caves.

I thought the limestone caves would be really difficult, but surprisingly, they were easy to walk through, and exploring the three caves took less than an hour. Since they weren't lit up like the famous limestone caves, we were really thrilled to see the natural formations! I had only seen mangroves from Okinawa, so I was overwhelmed by the authentic mangroves on Iriomote Island. At the waterfall, my friend and I enjoyed doing waterfall meditation and jumping into the basin, which was a lot of fun. On Barasu Island, I was amazed by the white coral mountains. We paddled from the sea towards Kuura Falls on a stand-up paddleboard. The river is shaded by mangroves, making it cool and pleasant. Our guide explained the mangroves to us. Along the way, we stopped the paddleboard and enjoyed a light trek towards Kuura Falls. We were able to get close enough to the falls to bathe in the water, which felt great.
