I've been to Okinawa many times, but this was my first experience creating something with Ryukyu glass, and I was really looking forward to it even before going. After some deliberation, my son made a board and I made earrings. The instructions were very thorough, and we both had a wonderfully satisfying time. I'm not very skilled, but thanks to the support I received, I was able to make cute earrings! I was really happy because I wanted some Ryukyu glass goods. Thank you very much!

After having lunch at Makishi Market, we strolled through the shopping district and Kokusai Street, and it only took a few minutes to reach the second floor of Tempus. It's a Belltora lounge, so it's easy to find!
沖縄は何度も来てるのに、琉球ガラスを使った創作は初めてで、行く前からとっても楽しみにしてました。悩んだあげく息子はボードで私はピアスを作りました。丁寧に教えていただいて、2人とも大満足の時間となりました。不器用なのですが、サポートいただいたおかげでかわいいピアスができました!
琉球ガラスのグッズが欲しかったので、とても嬉しいです。

I was excited to search for rare glass that included silver leaf or had glow-in-the-dark elements. Unlike the commonly sold cullet, the teacher processed the glass, allowing me to create original accessories. I would love to experience this again when I come to Okinawa.

It was easily accessible from Kokusai Street and in a location that was easy to find. We were the only participants, so we could take our time and enjoy the crafting experience, which was great. The staff were kind, making us feel very comfortable during the experience. There were many types of glass available, all with beautiful patterns, making it hard to choose due to the high quality. I was very satisfied to be able to select my favorite and create a one-of-a-kind hair accessory in my own original style! Since it was so lovely, I recommend going when you have plenty of time. If you're confident in your crafting skills, you could also try it during a short break. Those who can craft quickly can probably complete the experience from entering to leaving in about 20 to 30 minutes.

I arrived at the workshop earlier than the scheduled time, and from there, I received thorough explanations and hands-on instruction on woodworking techniques (how to carve wood, finishing methods, etc.).
I participated in fountain pen making. The nib of the fountain pen was only available in size "M," but it was compatible with both cartridges and converters. The woodworking process begins with selecting the wood. There are native Okinawan woods as well as foreign ones, each with unique characteristics in terms of hardness and color, so you can choose the wood according to your preference. After that, you will learn how to carve using trial wood, making it easy for beginners to work confidently.
Having an image of the pen you want to create (processing image: thickness, shape, color, etc.) beforehand will make it easier to process the wood. If you visualize the pen's thickness in millimeters, it will be clearer how much wood to carve away. You can also measure the pen's thickness during the work.

私が参加したのは万年筆づくりでした。
万年筆のペン先は太さが「M」のみでしたが、カートリッジ、コンバーター両方に対応したシリンダでした。

その後、試行用の木材で削り方を学ぶので、初めての方でも安心して作業ができます。
最初に作成するペンのイメージ（加工イメージ：ペンの太さ、形、色など）を持っておくと、木材の加工がしやすいと思います。
ペンの太さはミリ単位でイメージしておくと木を削る量がわかりやすくなります。作業中にペンの太さを測ることもできます。

Since I was staying in Naha, I had an experience at the Okinawa Craft Village nearby. It was built in 2022, and the facility is really beautiful, with various workshops and exhibits that are enjoyable on their own.
The experience starts with choosing the wood and deciding on the shape, allowing you to customize it as you like. However, there are so many options and a lot of interesting stories about the wood, which makes it quite difficult to choose! (laughs)
I learned that wood has a lot of charm and depth!
Shaping the wood can be challenging if you are particular about the form, but the instructors are very thorough, so it's manageable. You follow the steps in the process, and before you know it, you’re working away and time flies by. (I was skeptical about making a pen in three hours, but I got so absorbed that three hours passed in no time! laughs)
Of course, you can replace the core, so it can be used for a long time, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it ages. It’s said that occasionally soaking it in oil makes it even better. Since I made this one myself, I want to take good care of it.

体験は木を選ぶところから形を決めるなど、自分の好きな様にできる反面、種類も豊富で木にまつわる話をたくさんしていただけるので、かなり迷います！笑
でもそれほど木には魅力や奥深さがある、と今回勉強になりました！
削りは形をこだわれば難しいのですが、丁寧に教えていただけるので大丈夫です。順を追って作業していくのですが、気が付けば黙々と作業してあっという間に時間が過ぎていきました。笑 （ペン作りで3時間？！と疑っていたのですが...没頭してあっという間に3時間過ぎます。笑）
もちろん芯を入れ替えればずっと使用できるので、これからの経年変化も楽しみです。時々オイルなどを染みこませるとより良いそうです。自分で作った1本なので大事に使用していきたいです。
次回は両親を連れていきたいな～と思いました！ありがとうございました！

I highly recommend the pen-making experience! It's fun for both kids and adults! I'm very satisfied.
It's about a 30-minute drive from Nago, near the popular lunch spot "Goshu no Hana." After passing the fields, turn right onto a narrow road, and when it splits into two, choose the left path. You'll find a spacious area with a log house.
After selecting the type of pen, you choose the wood, which is enjoyable because there are many varieties to choose from. They carefully explain the Okinawan woods, patterns, colors, and scents that catch your interest. I chose ebony (Kuruchi), which is used for the sanshin, wanting something cool without worrying about how it would look in photos.
Recently, I've learned that the healing component of trees, "phytoncides," often mentioned in forest therapy, can be obtained without going to the forest, which is exciting and seems to help with my studies!
Moving to the second floor, I was able to work in the magnificent scenery of the forest, which felt great.
The shaving process is thrilling, but they let you practice and teach you how to work safely. The sensation of shaving is pleasant, and the smell of the wood is delightful; I had so much fun! If something doesn’t go well, they provide corrections and support!
You can freely decide the thickness and thinness.
After shaving, you work on smoothing it with sandpaper. You can choose to make it glossy or keep the natural feel of the wood, allowing for a finish that you like.
Finally, you soak it in oil, and you get to combine the parts yourself with intention.
The ink can be replaced with options like Jetstream, so you can enjoy your preferred writing feel and use it for a long time.
Since the wood can crack due to drying, it seems like you'll develop an attachment by regularly maintaining it with oil.
They also thought about making it suitable for gifts. The person was very friendly and conveyed their passion for pens!
I want to make another 2 or 3 pens, and I will definitely use this for gifts.

名護から約30分と近く、人気のランチ店「江洲の花」の近くです。
畑を過ぎて細い道を右に曲がり、二手に分かれたら左を選択してドキドキしながら進むと、広い敷地にログハウスが

木を選ぶのですが、多くの種類から選ぶのが楽しい
沖縄の木、模様、色、香りがあり、気になるものを丁寧に教えてくれます。
私は三線に使われている黒檀(クルチ)にしました。写真映えなど気にせず、カッコイイが欲しくて
最近、森林セラピーでもよく聞く木の癒し成分「フィトンチッド」が森に行かなくても手に入るって、なんだか嬉しい勉強もはかどりそう！
2階へ移動、森の中という壮大な景色の中で作業ができるので、気持ちがよかった〜
削る工程はドキドキしますが、練習もさせてくれるし、安全に作業できるようしっかり教えてくれます。
いざ削る感触も気持ちが良いし、木の香りもするし、楽しくてしょうがなかった✨
うまくいかなかったところは、修正・サポートしてくれます！
太さ、細さは自分で自由自在に決められます
削った後は、ヤスリで整える作業。
ツルツルにするのか、木の感じを残すのか、これも自分の好きな仕上がりにできます✨
最後にオイルを染み込ませて、
部品との合体も、
念を込めて自分でやらせてくれます
インクは、ジェットストリームなど交換できるので、好きな書きごごちで、ずっと使えるそうです✍️
乾燥で木が割れてしまうので、定期的にオイルでメンテナンスするなど愛着がわきそう
プレゼント用にもできるよう考えてくれていました
ペンへの熱量が伝わる、話しやすいとてもよい方でした✨
