I participated in the Mangrove Canoe & Baras Snorkeling Tour! In the morning, we went canoeing in great weather, and it was the best experience—I was very satisfied! In the afternoon, during the snorkeling tour, it was raining, but the underwater scenery was beautiful, and I was able to encounter several sea turtles!! It was absolutely amazing! Our tour guide, Yume, provided us with various information about the islands, as well as explanations about the mangroves and the fish, which made for a very fulfilling day overall!! After finishing dinner, my 4-year-old son, full of enthusiasm with his headlamp on, was invited by our guide Yuya to go out, and he was already super excited in the car on the way. After applying insect repellent, we headed into the forest. As we carefully descended a muddy slope with puddles, my son exclaimed, "A snake!" When I looked down, there was a habu slithering beside us! My son, who spotted the first creature, was full of confidence! We continued to find various night creatures like crabs, frogs, and spiders, while listening to Yuya's explanations, and we even spotted several coconut crabs moving slowly. I was delighted to see my son imitating Yuya, aiming his headlamp and proudly saying, "I took a picture!" Both parents were very satisfied.

Although we couldn't observe the stars due to the cloudy sky, we were able to spend more time observing the creatures, which might have made it the best experience for my son. It was a night of exploration that the whole family enjoyed together.

梅雨入りでしたが小雨が止んでちょうど良い気候でした。夜ご飯を食べ終わりヘッドライトをつけた息子4歳はやる気満々です。ホテルへお迎えに来たガイドのユーヤさんにも、行くか！と誘われ、行きの車内で既に大興奮。虫除けスプレーをして森の中へ。水たまりで泥濘む坂道をそろそろと降りていくと、ヘビだ！と息子の第一声！ほんとか〜と足元を見るとハブがニョロニョロと隣を進んでいました！1番に生き物を見つけた息子は自信満々です！その後もカニやカエル、クモなどユーヤさんの説明を受けながら次々と夜の生き物を見つけていき、ノソノソ歩くヤシガニも何匹か見つけられました。生き物の写真を撮るユーヤさんの真似をして、ヘッドライト向けては、撮りました！と得意げな息子に父母2人も大満足でした。
曇り空で星空観察は叶いませんでしたが、その分、生き物観察に時間をかけられたので、息子にとっては最高だったかもしれません。家族みんなで楽しめた夜の探検でした。

The mangrove cruise felt just like a real jungle cruise. The boatman skillfully navigated the increasingly narrow waterways due to the tides, pointing out flying birds and small fruits as we spotted them, which was impressive.

During the bus ride, the locals we usually encounter while sightseeing in Okinawa only used a slight dialect, but the driver spoke a little in Okinawan (Uchināguchi), which was easy to understand. It sounded almost like a spell!

The bus ride was short, but the scenery was very nice. We crossed to Yubu Island on a water buffalo, and I was amazed at how calm and intelligent the buffalo were. The buffalo I took a photo with was named Rui-kun. I was drawn to his expression, and the photo we took together became a wonderful memory.

The village on Taketomi Island had such an atmosphere that when viewed from the observation deck, it felt like I had entered another world. It was truly beautiful.

マングローブクルーズはさながらリアルジャングルクルーズ、干満の差でどんどんと狭くなって行く航路を上手に切り抜けながら飛んでる鳥や小さな木の実まで、見つけたら次々に指差しながら案内してくださる船頭さんがすごかったです。
バス移動では普段、観光で触れ合う沖縄の人達はちょっとした訛程度の方言しか使われていないのが運転手さんが沖縄弁（うちなーぐち）で少しだけ喋ってくださってよくわかりました。呪文の様でした!
バスでの移動は短い距離でしたが、景色含め、とてもよかったです。
由布島には水牛に乗って渡りましたが、とても穏やかで賢い牛さん達で驚きました。一緒に写真を撮った牛さんの名前はルイくん。彼の表情に惹かれて一緒に撮ってもらった写真は凄くいい思い出になりました。
竹富島の集落は展望台から見てみると異世界に来てしまったのではないかと思うほどの雰囲気があり、とても素敵でした。

I hadn't planned anything for my time on Taketomi Island, so I was at a loss as soon as I landed. I was too tired to walk, unsure about riding a bicycle, and there were no taxis available. However, I was informed at the waiting area that there was a shared bus service. You can ride it for just 300 yen! I was able to enjoy the village while also visiting the star sand beach. I could also make a phone reservation for the return trip right there. I had plenty of time to enjoy myself until the last boat at 17:00.

The glass-bottom boat swayed much more than I expected.

始めはシュノーケリングに申し込んでいましたが天候に恵まれずキャニオニングに変更に…ただ前日から丁寧に連絡をいただけたこともあり同行者としっかり相談してツアーに参加することができました。
この時点でお店に対する信頼感、安心感がありました。

キャニオニングですが、西表島の滝を目指して林間を抜けて川をくだるという内容でした。
途中途中でガイドさんからの掛け声でジャンプしたりと終始盛り上がる内容でした。
同行者も初めはキャニオニングに参加したことがなく不安がっていましたが、最後には「またやりたいね」と大満足の内容でした。
何より危険な場所や注意点を事前にはっきりと伝えていただけたので、安心してツアーに参加することができました。

マングローブカヌーですが、マングローブの中をカヌーで抜けた後、歩いて様々な説明をしていただきました。
マングローブ周りの植物や生物について詳細に教えていただき、生態について学ぶことができました。
植物の育ち方や、種子の植え方、生物の特徴などよくこんなに知っているなと思うほどガイドさんが教えてくれます。
途中でスコールにも見舞われましたが、大人になってからこんなに気持ちいいと思った雨は後にも先にもあれが初めてです。

終始ガイドさんは参加者への気配りを欠かさずに行ってくれており楽しく参加できました。
教えてくれたお昼ご飯のお店も美味しくて最高でした。
次回は今度こそシュノーケリングのツアーに参加したいと思います。

On the sightseeing boat on Nakama River, I was able to feel the great nature of Iriomote Island! I even got to see a kingfisher. While being rocked in a water buffalo cart to Yubu Island, I enjoyed the sanshin music and the relaxed atmosphere, which was very soothing. I just wish we could have spent a little more time on Yubu Island. The lunch bento was also very delicious, featuring flavors of Okinawa! Since we traveled by bus, it was very easy for my father, who is nearly 80 years old, to enjoy the sightseeing.
