Most of the tour was rainy, but despite that, our guide was very attentive and we were able to enjoy seeing Jomon Sugi and other sights. I had heard that the weather can change quickly, so I was glad to join this tour rather than going on my own. Additionally, it was great that the guide introduced us to not only famous spots but also points that aren't listed in guidebooks, and shared information about Yakushima's history as well.

ツアー中のほとんどが雨でしたが、そんな中でガイドさんが色々と気を配ってくれ、縄文杉なども見れて楽しめました。
天候が変わりやすいとも聞いていただけに、個人ではなくこちらのツアーに参加してよかったと思えました。
また、有名なスポットだけでなく、ガイドブックなどに掲載されてないポイントなども紹介してくれたり、屋久島の歴史なども教えてくれたのもよかったです。

We gathered early in the morning, but we were able to sleep in the car during the shuttle ride to the trailhead. The guide led us while considering the timing for breaks and our walking speed. They provided explanations at each landmark and took many photos for us.

Once we entered the genuine mountain path, the surface was paved, but the steep gradients were intense. There were places where we had to climb over rocks, so gloves or work gloves are essential. The Jomon Sugi that we reached after our efforts was breathtaking. We also received a lot of negative ions.

早朝集合でしたが、登山口まで送迎付きで車内で睡眠をとることができました。ガイドさんが休憩のタイミングや歩くスピードなど考えながらリードしてくれました。名所ごとで説明をしてくださり、また写真もたくさん撮っていただきました。
本格的な山道に入ると、鋪装はされていますが
急勾配が激しいです。岩をつたうところあるので手袋や軍手は必須だと思います。
頑張って向かった先にある縄文杉は圧巻でした。マイナスイオンもたくさんもらいました。

I was very happy that the guide prepared cushions for us and provided warm drinks during lunch. The explanations of the spots along the way were also very detailed and wonderful. Thank you very much.

Now, to the main point. I am 59 years old and will soon be 60. I felt uncomfortable because it seemed that the guide was wary of my age, thinking I might retire or cause trouble. Although I may not look it, I have backpacked through 61 countries and have even climbed to the top of Mount Fuji. I always participate in hiking and mountain climbing abroad. Early in the tour, the guide mentioned to the group as a whole, "If I feel this person cannot make it to the top, they will retire." I was told this directly, and others felt the same way. I thought it would have been better if the guide had just told me directly if they thought I couldn't climb. I know that in climbing, the slower people go ahead, but it felt like they were judging me solely based on my age, creating an atmosphere that suggested I would be slow and unable to keep up, which really brought my spirits down before we even started climbing.

Points that particularly bothered me:

1. When I climbed the steep shortcut path on the trolley road and was out of breath, the guide said, "If you're out of breath from this, you won't make it to the top." It wasn't just "you can't do it," but rather it felt like a dismissive remark that really broke my spirit. At that moment, I resolved not to fall behind the guide's pace and to not inconvenience anyone, determined to see Jomon Sugi and make it back down. If the guide had said, "You did well. There are tougher parts ahead, but keep it up," I would have felt encouraged to say, "Yes, I will do my best and follow your lead."

2. When I was not around, another woman asked the guide from behind, "Is there an age limit for this tour?" and the guide mistakenly thought I had asked and replied, "Just one more year." Everyone heard this conversation. Is it appropriate for a guide to disclose personal information in front of other participants? Is it acceptable to share personal information on the Jomon Sugi tour? The guide also made comments to an older man, saying, "You're born in the year of the horse, right?" and "I share the same zodiac." (It seemed like they just wanted to appear younger by mentioning their age.) I felt that personal information was not being handled properly here. It is common sense in society that personal information should not be disclosed. Furthermore, after returning home, I confirmed that the age restrictions for this tour were only two points (10 years and older, and those under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian), and there was no mention anywhere that those over 60 were not allowed. This was the worst tour, and I really wished they had declined my participation from the start due to concerns about my age. I would have preferred to join the group with the other older guide. Since the guide mentioned it, please make sure to clearly state the age limit for this tour as 60 years old in the future.

I believe that guiding members to their destination within a time limit is a job that comes with pressure. However, it is disappointing to see such worries reflected in the guide's demeanor. I was truly, truly uncomfortable for the entire 10 hours. Most participants start with a sense of "excitement" and "anticipation," and I hope this is recognized once again. Thank you.

本題です。私は59歳でもうすぐ６０歳になります。若干年齢が高いことでガイドさんがリタイアもしくはトラブルを警戒されてしているのが伝わってきて不快でした。見かけによりませんが、私は海外61か国バックパッカーで回り、富士山の頂上にも登ったこともあり、海外ではいつもハイキングや山登りに参加しています。ツアー開始後早い段階で全体への注意事項として「ガイドがこの人は上までいけないと感じた時はリタイアになります」などのことを全体に向けて言うような感じで私に向かって言われていました。これは他の人も感じていたと言ってくださいました。私が登れそうになれないと思うなら私に直接言っていただければよいのにと思いました。登山では遅い人は前にいくというのは鉄則でそれは知っていましたよ。ですが年齢だけで判断してさもこいつは遅くてついてこれないだろうと言う雰囲気を醸し出されていてそれが本当にビンビン伝わってきて、登る前からテンションが非常に下がりました。

特に気になった点は

①トロッコ道で近道3分の険しい道を上がったとき私は上がり終わってフーフー言っていたら、「こんなので息があがってしまうのであれば上まで無理」ってガイドさんに言われました。無理ですでもなく無理って吐き捨てるように言われ気持ちが本当に折れた瞬間でした。この時私は絶対にガイドさんのスピードに遅れないでみんなに迷惑をかけず、縄文杉を見て下まで降りてやると心に決めました。ここで、もし、「よく頑張りました。もっと厳しいところがあるけどこの調子で頑張ってください」と言っていただければ「はい頑張ります、ガイドさんについていきますのでご指導お願いします」ということをガイドさんに言えたと思います。

②私のいないところでガイドさんの後ろから他の女性が「このツアー年齢制限あるんですか？」と聞いたところ私がたずねたと勘違いして「あと1歳」といわれました。みなさんこの会話を聞いていらっしゃいました。個人情報を他の参加者の前で勝手に公開するのはガイドとしていかがなものでしょうか？縄文杉のツアーでは個人情報は出しても大丈夫なのでしょうか？他の年配の男の人にも「〇〇さんは午年ですね？」「私も同じ干支なんですよ」と若いアピールをされていました。（自分の年齢を言って若いと言われたいだけですよね）こちらでは個人情報の管理は守られいないということを感じました。個人情報は絶対に言ってはいけないというのは社会の常識です。更に帰宅後再確認しましたがこのツアーの年齢制限は2項目（・10歳以上・18歳以下は保護者同伴）のみで60歳以上不可ということはどこにも明記されていませんでした。最悪のツアーだったので、本当に最初から私のことを年齢が心配だからと言ってツアーに入るのを断っていただきたかった。私はもう一つのおじいさんのガイドさんのグループに入れてもらいたかったです。ガイドさんが言われたので今後、必ずこのツアーの制限年齢を60歳までと明記してくださいね。
時間の制限のある中メンバーを目的地に案内して戻ってこなくてはいけないガイドはプレッシャーがかかる仕事だと思います。ただ、こちらにそういう心配が見えてしまうのは残念です。本当に本当に10時間ずっと不愉快でした。なぜならほとんどの参加者は初めは「楽しみ」「わくわく」感をもって参加しているからです。そのことを今一度認識していただきたいと思います。

I believe the biggest advantage of joining a tour is that you can "focus on walking." There are quite a few paths without handrails and slippery areas, but thanks to the tour guide's constant reminders, I was able to concentrate on trekking with peace of mind. I think solo trekking is better after you've done it at least twice.

ツアーに参加する一番のメリットは「歩くことに集中できること」だと思います。手すりのない道や滑りやすい道が少なくないんですが、ツアーさんがその都度声がけをしてくれるおかげで、安心してトレッキングに集中することができました。一人トレッキングは2回目以降がいいと思います。

Unfortunately, it was raining (quite heavily), but I was able to reach the top. If it had been sunny, I might have been able to go without a guide, but thanks to the guide's appropriate judgments in the rain, I was able to enjoy the experience with peace of mind until the end.

The rain made the conditions tough, and unfortunately, some participants in the same tour had to retire partway through. I am grateful that the guide was there to help make the decision of whether to continue or not.

By the time we started descending, the weather improved, and I was able to see various expressions of Yakushima, from rain to light rain to sunshine, which turned out to be very nice.

The guide provided a wealth of information about the various Yakusugi trees and Yakushima, which I was very satisfied with. Thank you!

あいにくの雨（結構強め）でしたが、最後まで登り切ることができました。
晴れていたらガイド無しでも行けたかもしれないですが、雨の中でもガイドさんが適切に判断いただいたので、安心して最後まで楽しめました。

雨でコンディションがハードになり、同じツアーに参加した方の中でも、残念ながら途中でリタイアした方もいました。
ここらへんの、行く・行かないの判断も、やはりガイドさんが付いていてくれたからこそだなと、感謝しております。

下りに入るころには、天候も回復し、雨→小雨→晴れと屋久島の色々な表情が見れたことも結果的にはとても良かったです。

On the day of the trekking, we were blessed with clear weather, and we could see Mount Miyanoura along the way. A week prior, I received a message saying that it had snowed and that crampons might be necessary, which made me think I would have to give up on joining the tour. However, we ended up trekking 20 km round trip without needing crampons, achieving 42,000 steps and conquering the equivalent of 15 flights of stairs. We walked along the trolley path, captivated by the guide's stories, and saw the Sandaizuki and Wilson stump (which I wouldn't have known how to view from the right angle to see the heart shape without the guide). According to the guide, December is the off-season, so we had plenty of time to take photos at a leisurely pace. The Great King Cedar, the Couple Cedar, and the Jomon Cedar were all breathtaking. After enduring 7,500 years of wind, rain, and snow, they still looked quite healthy. Approaching my sixties, life may be on a downhill slope, but having met the Jomon Cedar, I feel I can continue to take one step at a time.

トレッキング当日はお天気に恵まれ快晴、途中宮之浦岳も見えました。一週間前に雪が降り、アイゼンが必要かもと連絡が来た時は、ツアー参加を断念かと思いましたが、アイゼン必要なく往復20kmのトレッキング、歩数42000歩を、15階分の階段を制覇できました。トロッコ道はガイドさんの話で飽きる事なく歩き、三代杉、ウィルソン株(これはガイドさんがいなければ、どの角度から見ればハート❤️になるのかわからなかった)。
ガイドさんにらよると、12月はオフシーズンでゆとりがあり、写真もゆっくり撮る事が出来ました。
大王杉、夫婦杉、そして縄文杉、圧巻でした。
7500年風雨、雪に耐えそこにいてくれる、まだまだ元気そうでした。還暦を迎えて人生下り坂ですが、縄文杉に会えてこれからも1歩ずつ進んでいけます。

I was very tired, but I'm glad I was able to reach Jomon Sugi safely. Among the trees that are over 1,000 years old, I could also feel the grand history of nature.

I participated without much knowledge, but the guide taught me various points of interest and about Yakushima, which was enjoyable.

I joined alone, but it was nice that the other members were also solo travelers and very kind.

I definitely want to visit in a different season as well. In winter, it's essential to prepare for the cold. There were several restrooms and natural springs, which was reassuring.

とても疲れましたが、縄文杉まで無事に行けて良かったです。
樹齢1000年超えの木々の中、壮大な自然の歴史も感じることができました。

知識の無い中参加しましたが、ガイドさんに色々見所や屋久島について教えてもらい楽しかったです。

1人参加でしたが、他のメンバーの皆さんも1人で且つ良い方々で良かったです。

ぜひ、違う季節にも行ってみたいです。

I participated in the Jomon Sugi trekking tour. I was a bit anxious about the round trip of 21 kilometers and the approximately 10-hour trek, but thanks to the tour guide, I was able to finish the tour really enjoyably and I am very satisfied. With careful advice, photo opportunities, self-deprecating jokes, and relatable stories from Yakushima, the guide helped create a wonderful memory, and I am truly grateful. I forgot to ask for the guide's name, but since he mentioned he was 55 years old, 1 year (male), and said he would continue climbing mountains for another 20 years, please send my regards to him.

I was more tired than I expected, but I was able to experience things that I can't in my daily life. I was overwhelmed by the greatness of nature.

I participated alone, but I was able to safely and enjoyably reach the Jomon Sugi, which had been my dream, thanks to the guide and the other participants. The guide also took many photos for me.

The transportation service was convenient and accurate for both the departure and return. The guide's explanations were enjoyable, and I learned about Yakushima's nature and photo spots, which made me very satisfied. Since I participated in December, it was also nice that it was not crowded. I now want to visit during the flower blooming season as well.

送迎付きは、行き帰りもラクで正確でした。
ガイドさんの説明も楽しく、屋久島の自然や写真スポットについても教えてもらい、非常満足でした。参加したのが12月という事あり、空いていたのも良かったです。

I participated with a friend. It was my first time hiking such a long distance. I was quite anxious about whether I could keep up physically and mentally until the end, but thanks to the guide who took breaks at just the right times, helped me cross a scary suspension bridge by holding onto my backpack strap, and shared various points of interest and knowledge along the way, I was able to complete the hike safely. It was also great that we had enough time to take photos of Jomon Sugi while managing our time until the return bus.

Additionally, the guide was really skilled at photography, and all the pictures taken were perfectly framed and looked fantastic! I’m glad I relied on a guide who knows the mountains well for that reason too.

Everyone I met in Yakushima, including the staff at the equipment rental shop, the bus driver, the guide, and the family I trekked with, was very kind. Thank you for a lifetime of memories.

友達と2人で参加しました。はじめてこんなに長い距離の登山をしました。体力的にも精神的にも最後まで持つのか…不安が大きかったですが、ガイドさんがちょうどいいタイミングで休憩を入れてくれたり、吊り橋が怖くて渡れないときにリュックのヒモを掴ませて歩いてくれたり、道中の見どころや知識を教えてくれたり、さまざま助けてもらえたおかげで無事に踏破できました。帰りのバスまでの時間管理もしながら、縄文杉の撮影時間もゆっくり取ってもらえてよかったです。
また、カメラ撮影が本当に上手で、撮ってもらった写真はどれも画角が完璧でかっこいいです！そういった点でも山をよく知るガイドさんに頼んでよかったと思います。
装備レンタル店の方、バスの運転手さん、ガイドさん、一緒のチームでトレッキングしたご家族など、屋久島で出会った方は皆さんとても親切でした。一生の思い出をありがとうございました。

As a first-time hiker wearing climbing shoes and returning to Japan after four years, my long-time dream of traveling to Yakushima was the highlight of my trip, so I wanted to be fully prepared for the hike and booked a tour. Before the tour, I had various concerns, but thanks to our guide, Satoyan, I had a day filled with smiles from start to finish.

Climbing in unfamiliar shoes for long hours, battling the anxiety of possibly falling while navigating the steep rocky and wooded trails, and the seemingly endless trolley path covering over 11 kilometers, there were breathtaking views everywhere that made me want to stop and take photos. The joy and excitement far outweighed any feelings of fatigue.

Our group consisted mostly of beginner hikers, including those who usually work in offices and lacked confidence in long hikes, as well as individuals with concerns about their backs or knees. However, everyone managed to complete the hike successfully. Satoyan taught us how to support each other during the climb and provided motivational items throughout the tour, sharing stories about Yakushima's history and nature, which were very encouraging, especially when fatigue set in during the latter part of the hike. When we returned to the trailhead, we all high-fived each other, experiencing an indescribable sense of exhilaration. Immediately after getting off the bus on the way back, I was hit with intense muscle soreness that made going down stairs difficult until nightfall, but strangely, the pain disappeared by the next morning, and I felt so energized, as if I had received power from Yakushima.

Thank you so much, guide Watanabe (Satoyan). This tour, lasting about 12 hours, was packed with rich content, hospitality, and the beauty of Yakushima's nature. The sense of achievement that comes from participating in this tour is something you can't fully grasp unless you experience it yourself, and I highly recommend it.

If you're renting gear, larger rental climbing shoes may not be available, so if you have big feet, like size 29 cm, it's best to check in advance and make a reservation. One person in our group didn't have the right size and seemed to be in quite a bit of pain towards the end.

登山靴を履くのも初めてレベルの登山初心者だったのと、4年ぶりの日本帰国で長年の夢だった屋久島旅行がハイライトとなっていたので、万全な状態で登山したいと思いツアーを予約しました。ツアー前は色々不安な事もありましたが、ガイドのサトヤンのおかげで始めから最後までずっと口角上がりっぱなしの1日となりました。

慣れない登山靴、長時間の登山、いつか転ぶんじゃないかという不安と戦いながら登る険しい岩や木が敷いてある登山道、終わりの見えないトロッコ道、片道11キロ以上ある道のりでしたが、立ち止まって写真に収めたくなる風景が至る所にあり、気分アゲアゲポイントも沢山あるので、疲労感より楽しさや感動が圧勝していました。

私達のグループはほぼ全員登山初心者で、普段はオフィスワークで長時間の登山に自信のない人や腰や膝に不安がある人もいましたが、無事にみんな歩き切ることができました。サトヤンが登山前にどうやってみんなで歩ききるかを伝授してくれて、ツアーの間にもいろいろモチベーションを上げるアイテムを出してくれたり、所々で屋久島の歴史や自然の話をしてくれたりと、後半は疲労が溜まったり、足が痛かったりする中でとても励みになりました。登山口まで戻って来た時には全員でハイタッチして、なんとも言えない高揚感を味わう事ができました。帰りのバスを降りた直後に、ものすごい筋肉痛で階段降りるのが夜までしんどかったですが、不思議と次の日の朝は痛みも消え、その後も元気過ぎるくらいで屋久島からパワーもらえたような気がしました。

ガイドの渡辺さん(サトヤン)、本当にお世話になりました。12時間くらいのツアーでこの内容の濃さ、おもてなし、そして屋久島の自然の素晴らしさ、このツアーに参加しなければ伝わらない達成感など盛りだくさんなツアーで、かなりおすすめです。

宿などで借りる場合、大きめのレンタル登山靴がなかったりするので、29センチとか足の大きい人は事前にサイズがあるかどうか確認して、予約しておいた方がいいです。1人サイズがなくて、最後の方かなり痛そうでした。

Although I was the only participant, my guide was very accommodating and taught me a lot about Yakushima. They were knowledgeable and experienced, and had a rich sensibility, allowing me to fully enjoy the forest.

The mystical forest, with its damp, dark moss-covered trees and rocks after the rain, was enchanting. At the moment when light streamed in at an angle, a mist that floated like a haze emerged, and steam rose gently from the moss, making it feel alive and breathing. The leaves of the trees created swaying shadows on the green rocks, and raindrops on the moss sparkled like transparent orbs of light. In an instant, it seemed like a playful prism of light, as the droplets shimmered like red and blue jewels.

The scenery was truly a gift from the forest, woven together by the weather conditions of temperature, humidity, and the interplay of light.

参加者が私一人だったのに、快くガイドしていただきたくさん屋久島について教えていただきました。
知識も経験も豊富で、しかも感性の豊かな方で、森を堪能することができました。
雨上がりのしっとりした薄暗い苔むす木や岩の神秘の森。ふっと光が斜めに差し込んだ瞬間、浮かび上がる霞のような漂うミスト、苔からは水蒸気がふわふわと立ち上り、生きて呼吸をしているようです。。緑の岩の上に木々の葉が、さやさやと揺れる影を作り、苔に雨の雫が透明な光の玉となって煌めきます。刹那、光のプリズムのいたずらか、雫が赤や蒼の宝石のようにきらきらと輝くのです。
気温や湿度、光の差し加減といった気象条件が織りなす、まさに森からの贈り物のような景色でした。

Thanks to our guide's consideration, we were able to trek without any strain. They communicated the timing for breaks and what to expect on the upcoming course, which helped me mentally prepare for this new place, even though I was confident in my physical stamina.

I was delighted to be able to take satisfying photos at the scenic spots. I believe the timing of my visit played a role, but it wasn't too crowded, allowing for a deeply moving trekking experience while listening to stories about Yakushima and Jomon Sugi.

I brought my familiar gear, which made things stress-free, and I even had enough energy left to summit Mount Miyanoura solo the next day!

Ordering the bento was definitely the right choice. There were no convenience stores or shops nearby where I stayed, and the supermarket 15 minutes away could run out of food depending on the time of day if you didn't go before the evening.

It was a strange experience to see the many expressions of Yakusugi, feeling as if I were in the sea despite being in the mountains. I would love to participate again with my family next time.

担当ガイドさんのご配慮で無理なくトレッキングが出来ました。休憩のタイミングや今後のコースの様子を伝えてくださり、体力に自信はありましたが初めて向かう場所への心の準備ができました。
見どころの場所では、満足のいく写真を撮って頂けて嬉しかったです。
参加した時期もあるとは思いますが、そこまで混雑せず屋久島や縄文杉にまつわるお話を聴きながらとても感慨深くトレッキング出来ました。

自分の使い慣れた装備を持って行ったのでストレスなく、むしろ体力余って
翌日ソロで宮之浦岳も登頂できました笑

またお弁当オーダーして正解でした。宿泊した近隣にコンビニや商店はなく、片道15分のスーパーは夕方前に行かないと時間帯によっては枯渇する食べ物もありました・・

山なのに海の中にいるかのような屋久杉の沢山の表情を見れたのは不思議な体験でした。
今度は家族で参加したいです。

I was filled with anxiety, but the presence of a knowledgeable guide made a big difference, allowing me to enjoy the walk. I think it would have been even better if trekking poles were available for rent.

不安だらけでしたが、知識が豊富なガイドさんの存在は大きく、楽しんで歩くことができました。レンタルグッズにトレッキングポールがあるとなお良かったと思います。

I felt reassured by the prior phone contact. There were plenty of breaks, and although there were tough moments along the way, I ended up walking comfortably and enjoying it. We were blessed with good weather; if it had rained, I think the trolley path covered in cedar would have been slippery and would have consumed a lot of energy.

事前の電話連絡もあって安心でした。休憩も多く、途中でつらい時もあったけど終わってみたら無理なく楽しく歩けました。天気に恵まれたことは大きく、雨だったら杉を貼ったトロッコ道が滑って、体力を相当消耗するのではないかと思います。

I arrived at Yakushima in the morning. My body is still getting used to it, and I'm not good at tough mountain climbing, so I chose the half-day course here. The guide, Mr. Wakamatsu, is probably older and it's clear that he is relied upon by many fellow guides. He is a kind and experienced guide who maintains a good sense of distance. Even though we didn't go all the way to Taiko Mountain, I was sufficiently healed by the forest bathing and negative ions in the mossy forest. Thank you very much!

午前便で屋久島入り。体がまだ慣れていないし、きつい山登りは苦手なので、こちらの半日コースに。ガイドの若松さんはたぶん年長さん、たくさんのガイド仲間さんに頼られているのが良くわかりました。優しくきちんと距離感あるベテランガイド、太鼓山まで行かなくとも苔むすの森までの森林浴とマイナスイオンで充分癒されました。

I had a very valuable experience.
As a woman in my 20s with no confidence in my physical strength, I was able to enjoy the journey to the end thanks to the guide's attentiveness and the camaraderie with my companions.
I felt the power of Jomon Sugi!

On a personal note, my hiking boots were old, and the rubber parts started to break during the hike.
I encountered various troubles, but the guide helped by reinforcing my boots and encouraging me, which was a great relief.

I participated with my wife and four relatives. On the day of the trip, we were picked up at our inn at 4:30 AM and set off. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible, almost pouring rain, but I changed my mindset and embraced the rain of Yakushima.

I was surprised by the fast pace of the walk on the tramway! At first, I was unsure whether to hire a guide, but I realized that without this pace, we wouldn't be able to make the round trip on the day trip to Jomon Sugi, which gave me reassurance about signing up for the tour.

Miraculously, by the time we reached the Wilson stump, the weather cleared up, and we were able to see the beautiful blue sky through the heart-shaped hole of the Wilson stump.

With the wonderful escort of our guide, Horikita, we spent an amazing time over the course of 11 hours and a distance of 22 kilometers with our group of four in their 60s.

I am truly grateful for the great emotional experience, all thanks to our guide. Thank you very much.

妻と親戚夫婦4人で参加しました。
当日は朝4時半に民宿まで迎えにきてもらって、出発｡
当日はあいにくの土砂降りに近い悪天候でしたが、屋久島の雨を導いたと気分を変えて挑みました。
歩き始めてトロッコ道の歩くテンポの速さにびっくり‼️
最初ガイドさんを頼むか迷っていたのですが、日帰り縄文杉ツアーはこのペースでないと往復できないんだなと、あらためてツアーに申し込んだ安心感をもらいました。
ウィルソン株に着いた頃奇跡的に天気が晴れ上がり綺麗な青空をウィルソン株のハートの穴から望むこともできました。
往復11時間、22キロの距離を素晴らしいガイドさんホリキタさんのエスコートで60代4人組ホントにステキな時間を過ごすことができました。

大きな感動をもらえたのもガイドさんのおかげと感謝感謝です。

The journey to Jomon Sugi was certainly not an easy one, but thanks to the warm arrangements made by the tour guide, I was able to enjoy the tour to the fullest without getting bored, even on my own. I'm grateful!

縄文杉までの道のりは決して楽なものではありませんでしたが、ツアーガイドさんの温かな計らいで、ツアー中も飽きることなく、1人でも安心して最大限に楽しむことが出来ました。感謝です！

I was able to form a group with just one participant, which made it exciting. The path wasn't too difficult, and having explanations provided was fantastic.

一人参加の人だけでグループを組んでもらえたので盛り上がりました。
道も厳しくなく、解説をしてもらえるので最高でした。

The shuttle service was very helpful, especially when I was sleepy in the early morning and exhausted after trekking. It was mentioned that we could sleep on the bus to the destination, but in reality, there was a roll call for group division, so I couldn't relax much. The guide only explained the bare minimum, which was a bit unsatisfying, but still, he adjusted the pace while observing the seven of us, allowing us to finally see the Jomon Sugi. However, I wished he had paid attention to the way the man in front was holding his trekking poles, as they nearly hit the heads and bodies of those behind him multiple times. Although I usually lack exercise and suddenly took on this trekking challenge, I was healed by the great outdoors, gained confidence from walking for 10 hours, and had a truly valuable experience. 早朝眠い中とトレッキング後のクタクタの中、送迎付きはとても助かりました。
行きのバスの中では寝ててOKと記載がされていましたが、実際はグループ分けの点呼がされておりあまりゆっくり出来ませんでした。
ガイドさんは必要最低限のことしか説明しない感じの人で少し物足りませんでしたが、それでも私を含め7人の様子を見ながらペース配分をして下さり念願の縄文杉を見ることが出来ました。
ただ、前を歩いていた男性のストックの持ち方が後方の人の頭や体に何度も当たりそうになったので注意をして欲しかったです。
普段運動不足でいきなり臨んだトレッキングでしたが大自然で癒され、10時間歩けたという自信にもなりとても貴重な経験が出来ました。

The day before, I anticipated being tired from trekking Jomon Sugi, so I signed up for the afternoon tour. As a result, this turned out to be a great choice. I was picked up at 12:30 PM, which allowed me to have lunch first. Our guide, Y, had an astonishing amount of experience and had even served as the head of the tourism association. Although it was a coincidence, he taught us not only about the mountains and plants but also about the history of Yakushima becoming a natural heritage site and the background of the mossy forest's name, which was very educational.

It seems that many people hike in the morning, so there were only a few of us in the afternoon, allowing us to enjoy each spot quietly. The team consisted of just me and one other person, and Y was very attentive to our footing while we climbed, making it very comfortable.

Additionally, Y was great at taking photos and captured some wonderful angles. When we spotted monkeys on the way, he even stopped the car so we could take pictures. I really appreciated his thoughtfulness.

It was unusual for Yakushima to have no rain at all, so the moss was a bit lacking in vitality, but that made the climb easier, and I had a fun half-day.

　前日、縄文杉トレッキングで疲れが予想で来たので、午後からのツアーに申し込みました。結果としてこれが当たりました。午後12時半の迎えで、先に昼食を済ませることができました。ガイドさんはびっくりするほど経験年数の長い、観光協会の長もされていたという経歴のＹさん。偶然とはいえ、山や植物のことだけでなく、屋久島が自然遺産になる経緯や苔むす森の名前の背景を教えてくれて、とても勉強になりました。
　やはり午前中に登る人たちが多いようで、午後から登るのは少数派らしく、それぞれのスポットでは静かに過ごせました。チームは私ともう一人だけで、Ｙさんは私たちの足にすごく注意しながら登ってくれたので、とても楽でした。
　またＹさんは写真も上手で、とてもいいアングルで撮ってくださいました。行きの道中で猿が出たときはわざわざ車を止めて写真を撮らせてくれました。気遣い感謝です。
　珍しくずっと雨のない屋久島で苔は少し元気がなかったですが、その分楽に登れましたし、楽しい半日を過ごせました。

The guide was very knowledgeable, sharing various trivia about plants, natural phenomena, and culture, which was helpful and enjoyable. I thought the guide, who was in their 70s, was very energetic and dedicated to their work. They also took great photos at the rest spots, which turned out to be very special. Thank you!

Shiratani Unsuikyo is shorter in duration compared to the Yakusugi tour and is not physically demanding, so I recommend it for those who want to enjoy Yakushima's nature without spending as much time as the Yakusugi tour.

ガイドさんが博識な方で、植物や自然現象、文化のことなど、様々な豆知識を交えてお話して下さったのが、参考になり楽しかったです。
70代のガイドさんで、とてもお元気で仕事熱心な方だと思いました。

白谷雲水峡は、屋久杉のツアーよりも時間も短めで、体力的にもつらくないので、屋久杉ほど時間をかけたくないけど屋久島の自然を楽しみたいという方には、白谷雲水峡をお勧めします。

After picking up the rental items at Yakushima Airport, I planned to have lunch before heading to the designated location, but the flight was delayed. After borrowing shoes and other items, there was no time to eat, and I couldn't find a convenience store, so I thought I would have to trek on an empty stomach. However, they kindly informed me of a pharmacy within walking distance and came to pick me up there.

While eating the bread I bought at the pharmacy in the car, we headed to the entrance of Shiratani Unsuikyo. From there, I walked a lot in the great outdoors for the first time in a while. I learned about the cedar trees and various other things, and thanks to the guide's explanations, I had a very enjoyable half-day.

There were some paths with significant elevation changes, and there were members in our group who were not used to mountain trails, but the guide provided some explanations to help us progress slowly and comfortably, making the walk pleasant and enjoyable.

On the way back, they dropped me off at my accommodation, and my checked suitcase and shoes were delivered there. They also came to pick up the rental items afterward, which was incredibly helpful. I am grateful for the wonderful time and the warm personalities of everyone involved. Thank you very much.

屋久島空港でレンタル品を受け取った後、お昼を食べてから指定の場所へ行く予定でしたが、飛行機が遅れ、靴などを借りた後に食べに行く時間がないし、コンビニも見当たらないし、空腹でトレッキングか、と思いましたが、徒歩圏内の薬局を教えてくださり、そこまで迎えに来てくださいました。
薬局で買ったパンなどを車中で食べながら、白谷雲水峡の入り口へ。
そこからは、久しぶりに大自然の中をたくさん歩きました。
杉の木や色々ご案内いただき、ガイドさんの解説のおかげでとても楽しい半日を過ごしました。
一部、段差の大きい道があり、グループの中に山道は不慣れな方がいらっしゃいましたが、ゆっくり一歩一歩進める様にちょっと解説入れてくださったりして、和やかに楽しく歩きました。
帰りは宿泊先まで送ってくださり、預けたスーツケースや靴などは宿泊先に届けてあり、その後に借りたレンタル品は宿まで引き取りに来てくださって、至れり尽くせりで本当に助かりました。
素敵な時間と温かい人柄の皆さんに感謝しています。
