平和通り
お土産屋さんが並ぶこの通りは、戦後の復興期には旧沖縄三越あたりから壺屋への資材の運搬道路でした。1953（昭和28）年に公募により「平和通り」と名前が付きました。1980（昭和55）年にアーケード化され、2010（平成22）年、照明がLED化されました。

第一牧志公設市場
戦後、自然発生した闇市の露店商人を集めたのが公設市場の始まりです。1950（昭和25）年に開設、1972（昭和47）年に現在の建物が完成しました。2019（令和元）年より、建て替えのため一時移転していましたが、2023年（令和5年）より新建屋で営業を開始しました！

市場には沖縄ならではの果物や、お祝いの席に欠かせない変わったお菓子、年中行事用のお餅などが売られています。
