大坪さんのレベルの高いガイドで高月山展望台、阿佐船頭殿の屋敷跡、島の形成に起因する地層の見学ができて興味深い小旅行になりました。高月山展望台へ向かう途中で食虫植物のコモウセンゴケや何種類もの美しい蝶を見ることができ、複数種の野鳥の声を聞きながら驚きと感動の連続でした。阿佐船頭殿の屋敷跡では偶然お会いした大川さんが丁寧に説明してくださり、泰山石敢當が座間味島にもあることを初めて知りました（確か、久米島にあったと記憶しています）。2時間ほどでこれほど多くの魅力と触れることができ、この島はお宝の宝庫ではないかと思いました。最後に、フェリーで島を離れながら太平洋戦争で犠牲になった方々のご冥福を祈りました。

季節の植物や昆虫、地層などガイドの解説を交え、標高137mの高月山展望台に向かいます。野鳥の声を聞きながら舗装道路を歩き、展望台から見渡すケラマブルーの海とそこに浮かぶ島々の絶景をお楽しみください。展望台からの景色を眺めた後は、あまり高低差のない未舗装の散策コースを回り、座間味区へと戻ります。

季節の植物や昆虫、地層などガイドの解説を交え、野鳥の声を聞きながら舗装道路を歩き、目印も案内もない遠浅のビーチ、大浜（うはま）へと向かいます。途中に立ち寄る知志展望台は、標高30mの断崖にあり、荒々しい崖と目の前に水平線を見渡す海が広がります。
※満潮に近い時間帯の場合は同じ道を、干潮時に近い時間帯の場合はビーチ沿いを歩いて戻ります。

稲崎展望台
島の北側に位置する標高118mの展望台。波の穏やかな南側とは打って変わって、断崖に波が打ち寄せる大海原の展望が特徴です。冬はここからザトウクジラを探し、ボートを誘導することから別名クジラ展望台と呼ばれており、1～3月にはザトウクジラが見られることも。
女瀬の崎展望台
島の西側にある展望台で標高は約30m。岬の先に東屋あり、そこからダイナミックな地形や水平線を見渡すことができます。またサンセットスポットとしても知られています。
