On July 9th, I participated in a bus tour and water buffalo cart ride during the Diamond Princess's stop at Ishigaki Island. Riding with Yuko, each view I saw while listening to the shamisen is etched in my memory. Although it was a short time, it was a very meaningful experience. As previous travelers have noted, upon checking in at the remote island terminal, we received all our tickets and proceeded to our respective boarding areas on time. The coordination and guidance at each location were solid, allowing us to explore freely and comfortably while ensuring a safe and efficient visit to all three islands.

The mangrove cruise took place on a day close to high tide, but there were unique sights to see during low tide, and the captain's stories were entertaining.

On Yubu Island, the water buffalo cart crosses the sea, creating a scene filled with sky, ocean, and the water buffalo cart. I had imagined it would have a more rustic charm, but it turned out to be quite touristy with a comical side, which seemed to appeal to a wide range of generations. While on land, after confirming the return time for the water buffalo cart, we were free to explore. For lunch, we went to a cafeteria where we enjoyed a bento box featuring Okinawan ingredients, including rice made from black rice from Iriomote Island. As someone visiting Okinawa for the first time, I found the unique food delicious, and I even bought some souvenirs at Ishigaki Airport on the way back, thanks to the bento from Yubu Island. We took beautiful photos of flowers and the water buffalo in the water, and while we could relax on Yubu Island, it was hot, so we took breaks in cool buildings while exploring.

On Taketomi Island, I chose the water buffalo cart and bus tour. First, we took a bus from Taketomi Port to Kaiji Beach and Kondoi Beach. Although the time at each location was short, there were cheers when we saw the beautiful shallow beaches. The water buffalo cart then leisurely moved through the streets lined with red-tiled roofs and blooming bougainvillea. (The water buffalo has a habit of stopping in the shade, which was quite charming.) With a roof overhead, we were shielded from the heat, and the 30 minutes passed quickly as the tour neared its end. The connection to the bus back to Taketomi Port was excellent, so there wasn't time to shop or have tea in town, but without this kind of tour that allows for a short visit to all three islands, I wouldn't have been able to travel to the Yaeyama Islands. The itinerary itself and the operational efficiency of the tour seemed to reflect feedback from previous travelers, showing improvements, and I thought it was a wonderfully well-organized tour. This time, I traveled alone as a reconnaissance trip, but if it’s this good, I’d like to bring my husband along next time and go again.

マングローブクルーズは大潮に近い日にちでしたが、引き潮ならではの見どころがあり、

由布島では、海をわたってゆく水牛車。視界の中が、空と、海と、水牛車、の世界。。。
は、もうちょっといい感じに鄙びた風情かと勝手に思っておりましたが、
ツーリスティックで、コミカルな一面もあり、それはそれで、幅広い世代に受けている様子。
上陸中は、戻りの水牛車の集合時間を確認したら、自由に見学します。
お昼は、各々食堂に行き頂くのですが、
沖縄食材を散りばめたお弁当で、西表島の黒米？のごはんがついています。沖縄方面は初めての私には珍しい食べものが多くとても美味しかったので、帰りの石垣空港でお土産に買ったものもあり、由布島のお弁当のおかげと思っています。
美しい花や、水に入っている水牛さんの写真を撮ったり、由布島では結構ゆっくりできますが、
暑いので涼しい建物のなかで休憩しつつの見学という感じでした。


竹富島は、水牛車とバス観光を選びました。
まず、バスで竹富港からカイジ浜や、コンドイ浜へ。各所時間は短いですが、遠浅の美しい浜が見えた時には、歓声が上がっていました。
そして、水牛車は、ブーゲンビリアの咲く赤瓦の街並みをゆっくりと進みます。
（日陰で止まる癖のある水牛さんがご愛嬌）
屋根があるので暑さは遮られ30分は結構すぐ過ぎて、ツアーも終盤です。
帰りの竹富港までのバスへの連絡もやたら良いので、町へ出て、買い物や、お茶のみをする時間はありませんが、短い時間でも３島巡りできるこのようなツアーでなければ、八重山諸島の旅行には来られなかったでしょう。
旅程そのものも、それを実行する側の機動力もあり、以前体験談等で見かけた客の声も反映され改善されているように見えましたし、素晴らしくよくできたツアーだと思いました。
今回は、下見を兼ねての一人旅でしたが、こんなに良いなら夫も連れて、また行きたいです。

Really great tour. We got picked up on time from a hotel near to where we were staying which was very handy and well organised. Our guide, Levin, had perfect English, was very helpful and informative and made the tour extremely enjoyable. There were plenty of break stops along the way and the bus was very comfortable. Due to unforeseen traffic our itinerary changed however this was handled really well and we still got to make each stop as planned. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great but Levin still made each stop fun and interesting. The lunch provided was excellent food and we got to experience the traditional Japanese culture. We didn't have much expectations for the 4D experience but it was actually brilliant and we really enjoyed it. Overall it was a really great trip and we would highly recommend it to anyone who's thinking of doing the Mount Fuji tour.

I participated in a cycling course on Taketomi Island. It was hot, but the kids really enjoyed collecting star sand at Star Sand Beach, playing on the beach as much as they wanted, and visiting the village. It was also nice to be able to choose the time for the return ferry.

The place I really wanted to visit on my first trip to Okinawa was the Churaumi Aquarium. I was staying with friends who live in Okinawa, so while they were at work, I planned to enjoy the aquarium. However, I found out that it was farther from Naha than I expected and there were no transportation options available. I signed up for a bus tour that offered a longer stay at the Churaumi Aquarium, and about four hours flew by in no time. Since other facilities were located far away, if you spend too long enjoying the aquarium, you might not have enough time to explore everything else. I got so captivated by the large tanks that I ended up rushing to the dolphin show!

The tour began with a pickup at Kenmin Hiroba in front of Kencho-mae Station on the Yui Rail.

Right after boarding the bus, it started to rain heavily while we were waiting to depart. I panicked a bit since I didn't bring an umbrella, but fortunately, the bus had umbrellas available, and by the time we arrived at Sefa Utaki, the rain had completely stopped, and we didn't get rained on afterward, so it turned out fine.

However, it was a downpour like a bucket being overturned.

Sefa Utaki, with its sacred atmosphere, is a very captivating place. Thinking that events were held here from Shuri long ago fills me with indescribable emotions just being in that spot.

At first, I couldn't find the triangular hole (Sangui: Sankuri), which I wanted to see the most. As I followed the indicated route, there was a T-junction along the way, but the route didn't point in that direction, leading straight ahead to a dead end without the triangular hole.

In the end, I retraced my steps back to the T-junction, thought for a moment, and decided to turn since I wanted to explore everything. To my delight, I found the triangular hole deeper inside (laughs).

I enjoyed going through the hole and then left Sefa Utaki.

Next, we headed to Okinawa World, where we enjoyed the Kingdom Village and Gyokusendo Cave.

Due to time constraints, we rushed through Gyokusendo Cave (laughs). In the hot Okinawa weather, it was a bit cool, but not quite refreshing, just a little muggy.

After emerging above ground, I savored the Kingdom Village. Since it was hot, I couldn't resist having a beer at a local brewery café, and I spent a blissful time (I wonder if I was really sightseeing? Laughs).

At the Himeyuri Monument, I felt the tragedy of past wars and reflected on many things. War is truly unacceptable.

This concluded the tour, but the southern attractions were quite impressive.

ツアーの始まりは、ゆいレールの県庁前駅近くの県民広場前でのピックアップでした。

バスに乗車直後、出発待ちの間に雨がもの凄い勢いで降り出し、傘も持たずにツアーに来てしまったので焦りましたがバスに傘の用意があった事と斎場御嶽に着く前にはすっかり雨もあがり、その後も降られずに済んだので、事無きを得ました。

しかし、バケツをひっくり返したような凄い雨でした。

聖地と言う匂いの斎場御嶽は、とても惹かれる場所で、遥か昔に首里からここまで催事を行うために来ていたのだと思うとその場に居る事に何とも言えない想いが込み上げます。

最初、1番見たかった三角形の穴（さんぐぅい：三庫理）がなく、順路と書かれている方向に向かって行くと途中Tの字になっている場所があるが、順路は、その方向を示しておらず直進し、行き止まりとなりましたが、三角形の穴がない。

結局、順路を戻り、先程のTの字の所まで来て少し考えましたが、折角なので全部散策したい想いで曲がって見た所、奥に三角形の穴がありました（笑）。

穴を潜り満喫、斎場御嶽を後にしました。

次におきなわワールド文化王国玉泉洞窟へ向かい王国村と玉泉洞を満喫。

時間もない事から玉泉洞は、ほぼ駆け足でした（笑）。
暑い沖縄では、少しだけ冷んやりで、涼しいとまではいかなく、ちょっと蒸し暑かった。

地上にでて王国村を堪能、暑かったので地ビール喫茶？で、ビールを思わず飲み至福の時間を過ごしたのは言うまでもありません（観光してるのかぁ〜笑）。

ひめゆりの塔では、過去の戦争での惨劇を感じ、考えさせられるものを多く感じました。
本当に戦争は、いけませんね。

これでツアーは、終わりでしたが、南部の観光も中々のものです。

In the morning, I took a bus tour around Ishigaki Island. The bus tour departed from the bus terminal near the remote island terminal.

The tour was led by a charming elderly guide who made the time fly with his interesting stories.

Although the tour was brief, it allowed us to greatly enjoy the natural beauty of Ishigaki Island, which was truly refreshing for someone living in the city.

Unfortunately, the glass-bottom boat experience was disappointing as the seabed visible through the glass was all green, and it didn't showcase the true colors of the underwater scenery. If you want to enjoy the underwater world, snorkeling might be a better option.

For lunch, we had hamburgers made with Ishigaki beef, which might be great for hamburger lovers (though I wasn't that impressed...).

After finishing the bus tour around Ishigaki Island, I walked from the bus terminal to the remote island terminal and took a ferry to Taketomi Island around 3 PM.

On Taketomi Island, I rode in an ox cart, which was the main attraction. I had the chance to ride in an ox cart pulled by a famous ox named Pīsuke, who has appeared on television.

The guide, who also drove the ox cart, was entertaining, and even though it was my first time riding in one, I enjoyed a leisurely tour around the village.

I would love to visit Ishigaki again.

バスツアーは、おじいちゃん名物ガイドさんで話しが面白かったのであっと言う間の時間でした。

バスツアーでは、足早ですが石垣島の自然を大いに楽しめますし、都会で生活している者にとっては本当に癒されます。

残念なのはグラスボート、ガラスから見える海底は全て緑色で、本来の色合いを楽しめるものではなかったので、海中を楽しむのならシュノーケリングなどになってしまうのかなぁ。

昼食は、多分（笑）、石垣牛の挽き肉を使ったハンバーグで、ハンバーグ好きには良いかも知れませんね（私はそれほどでも…汗）。

石垣島一周バスツアーを終え、バスターミナルから離島ターミナルへ徒歩で移動し、15時くらいから竹富島に渡りました。

竹富島では、牛車が目的で牛車に乗ってきました。
牛車は、テレビにも出演した事のある牛のピー助が引く牛車に乗る事が出来ました。

牛車を運転するガイド兼任の方のトークも面白く初めて牛車に乗りましたがゆったりと動き村一周も長閑な時間を過ごせました。

石垣にはもう一度行ってみたいと思っています。

Booked this tour in the hope to see Mt. Fuji. Every destination point you visit will have advantage points to see Mt.Fuji. The only thing you need is good weather and clear visibility! This sadly isn't guaranteed but what you can expect is a great tour Leader, smooth bus journey to and from each destination and a fun day out. Our tour Leader Levin was really funny and charming. He told us information about Mt.Fuji, Japanese culture and the language. Definitely made the trip!

The bus, flags, and tour guide were all lemon-colored, making it easy to identify, so I didn't get lost at all! I would definitely like to use this bus tour again if I have the chance. 初めてのバスツアーでした。とてもキレイなバスで それぞれの座席にUSBがついていて便利で快適、そして優しい添乗員さんと運転士の方と楽しい旅となりました。今回は日本人の参加者が多いとのことでしたが英語での説明も楽しく、空いている座席も使わせて頂き とても暑い京都でしたが 快適でした。出発までは観光の時間が短いかな？と思っていたのですが、これまたベストな時間配分！途中、運転手さんがキンキンに冷えたおしぼりを配ってくださり とても気持ち良かったです。バスも旗も添乗員さんもレモン色でわかりやすく、迷うこともありませんでした！また機会があれば 利用したいと思えたバスツアーでした。おすすめですよ！

It was a wonderful trip.

At first, I wanted to ride the glass-bottom boat and the water buffalo cart at Kabira Bay, so I searched for various options. I'm glad I found this plan that allowed me to do everything in one day and signed up for it.

The hamburger at Aunt Poza's lunch (a place I wanted to visit after reading about it in a book) was tender and had a gentle flavor! I also enjoyed the fried gurukun, a local Okinawan specialty, very much.

Due to our mistake, we missed the ferry to Taketomi Island, but they quickly arranged everything for us, and we were able to ride the water buffalo cart (the magnificent Kuro-chan) safely. Thank you very much for that. We changed our return ferry time to the last one and enjoyed searching for star sand at Kaiji Beach, which we really wanted to visit, by renting bicycles. Taking a break in the shade while looking at the blue sea was the best healing time.

癒しタイムでした。

It was really great that they efficiently took us to each sightseeing spot. Since I can't drive, I initially tried to go by bus, but there were so few buses that I decided to sign up for this tour.

In the end, it was a perfect choice! I don't think I could have visited so many places in one day on my own. Plus, I was able to rest during the transfers, so it was physically manageable. The guide was also very nice, showcasing traditional performing arts like folk songs and dances, and providing detailed explanations of the attractions.

Considering the price, it's definitely a great deal! Entrance fees are included as well.

効率よく各名所に連れて行ってくれるので凄く良かったです。車は運転出来ないため、バスで行く事も当初試みましたが あまりに本数が少なかったので今回のツアーに申し込みました。
でも結果、大正解！個人では一日でこんなに廻れないと思います。しかも移動中に休めるので体力的にも無理無く廻れました。またガイドさんがとても良い方で、伝統芸能である民謡やダンスを披露してくれたり名所を細かく説明してくれたり、、
とにかく値段を考えたら絶対的にお得です！入場料も込みですし。
