It was the best day ever. Since it was after the heavy rain on May 18, I was worried about whether the activities would go ahead, but thanks to our guide's arrangements, we were able to enjoy both river kayaking and canyoning.

During the river kayaking, we leisurely paddled upstream on the Anbo River while our guide shared stories about Yakushima's nature, and we had coffee and lunch on a sandbank. In the afternoon's canyoning, we aimed for a waterfall while climbing rocks, swimming in the river, and sometimes jumping into the river, all in a slightly high-water canyon. It was a thrilling adventure that was absolutely exhilarating.

Our guide was really reliable, taking into account not only our physical fitness and athletic ability but also how to enjoy nature. My wife, in particular, is not a strong swimmer and was quite nervous about getting into the water, but by the second half of the canyoning, she was saying, "This is so fun!" while letting herself be carried away by the strong current.

On the way back, we stopped by a hot spring to warm up our chilled bodies and relaxed in the slightly hot water. Finally, we were introduced to a restaurant where we could savor Yakushima cuisine.

Overall, it was a day filled with enjoyment in Yakushima.

最高の一日でした。5/18の豪雨の後でしたので催行が心配でしたが、ガイドさんの計らいによりリバーカヤックもキャニオニングも楽しめました。
リバーカヤックでは、のんびりと安房川を溯上しながら屋久島の自然を語ってもらい、中洲でコーヒー＆ランチタイム。午後のキャニオニングでは、少し水量の多い渓谷を岩をよじ登りながら、河を泳ぎながら、そして時には河に飛び込みながら滝を目指しました。スリルに満ちた冒険でドキドキ感が最高です。
そして、今回のガイドさんは私たちの体力や運動能力だけでなく、自然での楽しみ方まで配慮してくれて、本当に頼りになりました。特に家内は水泳は下手で、水に入るのがおっかなびっくりの性格でしたが、キャニオニングの後半では「おもしろーい、たのしいー」と言いながら、大きな流れに身を任せていました。

帰りには冷えた体を温めるために温泉に立ち寄り、ちょっと熱めのお湯でのんびり。最後には、屋久島料理を堪能できる食事処まで紹介して貰いました。

トータルで屋久島を楽しめた一日です。

Due to a landslide caused by heavy rain, I had given up on climbing from the Arakawa trailhead, but I received an alternative suggestion that I could reach Jomon Sugi from Shiratani Unsuikyo, which would take about 12 to 13 hours. Thanks to that, I was able to climb successfully! This meant that my trip was reduced from two days to one. Climbing from Shiratani Unsuikyo involves ascending two mountains, so it can be really tough if you're not in good shape.

The phone support was a bit chaotic, possibly due to coordination with others, as I was told different things than what was initially communicated. However, in the end, I was able to climb, so I have no complaints.

It may take some time for recovery, but Yakushima is a place you can visit with peace of mind, so I definitely encourage those who had given up to go!

大雨による土砂崩れで荒川登山口から登れないとのことで諦めていたところ、白谷雲水峡からだったら12,3時間かかるけど縄文杉に行けますと代替案をいただき無事に登れることが出来ました！その都合で2日間ではなく１日になりました。白谷雲水峡からだと山を２つ登るので体力がないと本当につらいと思います。
電話対応は他の人との兼ね合いも合った為かうまくいかず、案内されていたことと違う事を言われたりとゴタゴタしましたが、最終的には登ることが出来たので言うことはありません。
おそらく復旧には時間がかかるかもしれませんが、屋久島は安心して行くことが出来るので、諦めていた方にも是非行ってほしいです！

I thought I would regret it if I didn't go at my age, so three of us women decided to try it. Although we made the decision six months ago, as the date approached, my anxiety grew since I usually don't walk for 10 hours.

On the day of the trip, the weather forecast had predicted no rain the day before, but it rained continuously. We set off hoping it wouldn't rain. Fortunately, we didn't get rained on, and with the guide's extensive explanations and appropriate breaks, we were able to meet Jomon Sugi. Although we were tired, we returned safely and had a very satisfying day.

Not only Jomon Sugi, but also the various plants and animals were wonderful, and gaining knowledge made the experience even more fulfilling.

I returned home from Yakushima two days later in the afternoon, on the day when heavy rain made the news. I'm really glad everyone was rescued safely. It was a trip where I felt both the beauty and the threat of nature.

Until I returned from Yakushima, I felt a sense of satisfaction and fatigue... But once I got back to my daily life, I found myself wanting to go again.

年齢的に行かないと後悔すると思い、女三人でのトライでした。半年前に決めたものの、近づくにつれ、普段10時間も歩くこともなく不安が徐々に募っていました。
当日、前の日は天気予報では雨が降らない予報だったのに降り続いたそうで、降らないことを祈りつつの出発でした。
幸いなことに雨にも降られず、ガイドさんの幅広い説明と適度な休憩で、縄文杉に会うこともでき、疲れたものの無事に戻ることができ大満足な一日となりました。
縄文杉だけでなく、さまざまな動植物も素晴らしく、知識を得てなおさら充実した時間となりました。

2日後の午後に屋久島から帰宅しましたが、その日がニュースになった大雨の日。皆さん無事に救助されてほんとに良かった。
自然の美しさ、脅威。両方を感じることになった旅でした。

屋久島から戻るまでは、満足感と疲労感が…
でも、帰ってきて日常に戻ったら、また、行きたくなってる自分がいました。

I participated on May 14th. It rained from the early morning, with the weather alternating between clearing up and drizzling.

This was my first time hiking, and I was only worried about whether I could walk for 10 hours, but once we started, I never thought about wanting to quit! I was able to enjoy the climb!

The trolley path was 8 kilometers long, and it felt like we were just walking endlessly. It was really long. The guide shared various stories and pointed out animal tracks and a nest of newborn baby birds, which made the journey enjoyable. Once we finished the trolley path, the real climbing began, and I thought reaching the Wilson stump was the hardest part. After that, the footing was relatively stable, so it wasn't too difficult.

The Wilson stump is famous for its heart shape, but honestly, I don't think I would have been able to take a nice photo of the heart without the guide. Many people entered the stump and quickly left, and I don't think they got a good shot of the heart. I couldn't tell what made the "Three Generations Cedar" special when I saw it myself, but the guide explained each one, which was very helpful. Along the way, there were trees that looked like dragons and recommendations from the guide.

The attractions on the tourist map were spaced far apart, so just climbing would have been tough. I noticed several troubles like shoe soles coming off and people injuring their feet, but those with a guide were able to get treatment and continue climbing. Some individuals who came on their own found the mountain too tough and decided to turn back.

Although it was my first time hiking, the guide adjusted the pace, provided breaks at good times, and offered miso soup and snacks for salt replenishment, which made the experience very enjoyable! If you're not an experienced hiker, having a guide is definitely recommended!

５月１４日に参加しました。
朝一から雨でず時おり病んだり少し降ったりを繰り返しす天気でした。

登山は初めてで10時間も歩けるか不安しかなかったのですが、いざ始まってみるとやめたい！とか思うことは一切なく楽しんで登ることができましたっ！

トロッコ道は8キロもあり、ただただ永遠にひたすらに歩きます。本当に長いです。ガイドさんが色んな話をしてくれたり、動物の跡や生まれたての鳥の赤ちゃんの巣を教えてくれたりしたので楽しみながら進むことができました。
トロッコ道が終わると山登りが始まりますがウィルソン株にたどり着くまでが一番大変だと思いました。そこからは割と足場が作られているのでそこまでしんどくなかったです。

ウィルソン株はハートが有名ですが正直ガイドさんが居なかったら綺麗なハートの写真は取れなかったと思います。割と切り株に入ってすぐ出て行く人も多くいました。その人たちは♡に撮れてないと思います。三代杉なども自分で見たら何が三代なのか分かりませんでしたが、ガイドさんが一つ一つ話してくれるのでとても助かりました。
道の半ばにもドラゴンに見える木やガイドさんのオススメの木を教えてくれました。
観光マップに載っているものは間隔が長いので単に登るだけだと辛かったと思います。

靴底が取れる、足を痛めるなどトラブルがあるのを随所に目にしましたがガイドさんが付いている方は処置をしてもらって登ることができていました。
個人できている方は山がきついので諦めて帰る方もいました。
私も山登りは初めてでしたが、ペースを調節してくれたり、いいタイミングで休憩を入れてくれたり
塩分補給にお味噌汁やおやつをくれたり、とっっっても良くしてもらったので始終楽しく登ることができました！
登ったことがある、ベテランの方で無ければ絶対ガイドさんが居た方がいいですっ！

I participated in a course that started at 9 AM on May 15. It was raining from the morning, and the water level was a bit high. I had heard that there was quite a difference in elevation, but the path was better maintained and easier to walk than the Jomon Sugi trail. On the way to the Mononoke Forest, the greenery and the sound of flowing water were beautiful, allowing me to fully enjoy nature!

As the rain got heavier and the river swelled, some people turned back instead of going to the mossy forest. However, with the guide present, I felt secure and was able to reach the mossy forest. The mossy forest was truly vibrant green, and I was glad I crossed the river to get there! That day, there were heavy rains across the country, including the first in 50 years in Tanegashima, so unfortunately, we couldn't make it to Taiko Rock. It was good that the guide made that decision.

On the way back, the water level was even higher, so we took a detour that we usually wouldn't take. Since the detour wasn't a single path, I think I definitely wouldn't have been able to return without the guide. Also, because it’s not a path that people usually walk on, there was a lot of moss, and the greenery was much more vibrant than the path we had taken before, making me feel like I was in nature. I felt a bit lucky! (laughs)

A folding umbrella was very useful throughout the entire course. For those who exercise regularly or are used to hiking, there were many parts where you could walk smoothly with the umbrella without using your hands. However, for those who do not exercise or are elderly, it was difficult to climb while holding an umbrella, and there were moments when the guide had to carry some of our belongings. Since I exercise regularly, I found it much easier and enjoyed it more than the Jomon Sugi trail, but I think those who are not used to exercising should be prepared for some tough spots.

When climbing or during rain, I think it’s better to have gloves since you have to cross rivers.

The guides in Yakushima were all very friendly, and I felt like I was meeting a countryside grandfather. (My guide mentioned he was the oldest guide in Yakushima.) Before making the reservation, I was debating whether to just go to Jomon Sugi, but I’m really glad I went! I hope everyone gets to see it in person, so please prepare well in advance and get in shape to enjoy it!

５月１５日に９時からのコースに参加しました。
朝から雨が降っていて少し増水していました。
標高差がかなりあると聞いていましたが、縄文杉よりも道が整備されていて歩きやすかったです。
もののけの森に着くまでにも緑や流れる水の音がとても綺麗で自然を満喫できました！
だんだん雨がきつくなり、川が増水、苔むす森に行かず引き返す人もいましたが、
ガイドさんが居たので安心して苔むす森にまでたどり着けました。
苔むす森はほんとうに緑が鮮やかで川を超えてでも行って良かった！と思いました。
その日は前日種子島で５０年ぶりの大雨となるなど全国で天気が荒れた日でしたので、
残念ながら太鼓岩までは行くことができませんでした。
そう行った判断もガイドさんがしてくれたので良かったです。
帰りはもっと増水していたので普段通らない迂回路を通りました。
迂回路は一本道では無いのでガイドさん無しでは絶対戻ってこれなかったと思います。
また、普段人が通らないので苔が沢山生えていて、それまで通っていた道より格段と緑が青くて自然の中にいる気持ちになりました。
少し得した気持ちになりました！笑

全工程で折りたたみ傘がとっても役に立ちます。
ある程度運動している人や、登山している人なら手を使わず傘のまますいすいと歩ける箇所がほとんどです。
ただ、運動していない方、ご年配の方は傘をさして登るのは出来ず、ガイドさんに荷物を持ってもらう場面もありました。自分は普段から運動しているので縄文杉よりも全然楽で楽しめたのですが、運動をされていない方はそれなりにきつい場面もあると思った方がいいと思います。
登ったり、雨が降った時には川を渡るので手袋もあった方がいいと思います。

屋久島のガイドさんたちは皆さんとても人柄がよくて田舎のおじいちゃんに会ったような気持ちになりました。(私の今回のガイドさんは屋久島ガイドで最年長だと言っていました)
予約前は縄文杉だけにしようか悩んだのですが行って本当に良かったです！！是非生で見てほしいので、事前準備をしっかりして自分も鍛えてから楽しめる準備をして行ってほしいです！

The weather forecast mentioned a possibility of rain, but we were able to complete the hike without a single drop falling. On the way back down the mountain, I started to feel pain in the back of my right knee, which was tough, but thanks to the support of our guide, I was able to descend safely, and I am truly grateful for that.

I was lucky to see the Japanese macaque and the sika deer, even though they were at a distance. I think I was at my physical limit, and I believe it would be difficult as I get older, so I'm glad I went.

天気予報では雨の可能性もあると言われていたのですが 一滴も降られることなく 完歩出来ました。 帰りの山下り中 右ひざの裏あたりが痛みだし 大変でしたが ガイドさんのサポートもあり無事下山でき 本当に感謝しています。
ヤクザル、ヤクシカも 離れた場所でしたが見れましたのでラッキーでした。
体力的にはいっぱいいっぱいだったと思いますが さらに年齢が上がると 無理だろうと思いますので 行って良かったです。

If you have a certain level of physical fitness and want to fully enjoy the majestic nature of the Five Lakes, I recommend signing up for a trekking tour. I participated on May 3rd, but the boat service was canceled (they contacted us the day before), and Shiretoko Pass was closed (determined on the morning of the tour), resulting in significant traffic. Additionally, during this time, you cannot tour the Five Lakes without a guided tour (I participated as part of a monitor tour), and individuals can only explore one lake, which affects the overall satisfaction. The guide was kind, knowledgeable, and managed the group of ten well. The trekking is not a strenuous mountain climb, so warm clothing is advisable. It's a full-day walking tour, but you can thoroughly enjoy the nature, scents, and wildlife of Shiretoko, making it highly recommended.

GWの時期は天気が不安定で知床峠が通行止めになったり、遊覧船も運行キャンセルになることもあり、ある程度体力に自信があり5湖の雄大な自然を満喫したいようであれば、トレッキングツアーの申し込みを推奨します。5月3日に参加しましたが、遊覧船はキャンセル(前日に連絡)され、知床峠は通行止め(当日の朝判断)で、かなりの渋滞でした。またこの時期はツアーでなけば5湖巡りができず(モニターツアーとして参加)、個人では1湖のみ限られた散策になるため、満足度も違います。ガイドさんは優しく知識もあり10名をうまく引率されてました。トレッキングもハードな山登りではないため、暖かな服装がよいです。丸一日歩くツアーですが、知床の自然、匂い、野生動物をじっくり味わうことができ、おススメです。

In early April, I visited Yakushima during a temporary return from the UK. My husband, who loves nature, and I participated together, but both of us are beginners when it comes to serious trekking. We wanted to manage our pace and learn more about Yakushima, so we decided to hire a guide and made a reservation. This was truly the right decision! Our guide, Yoshisugi, repeatedly encouraged us by saying things like, "This is the last tough climb," which helped us push through to the end. The day started with great weather, but just before we reached Jomon Sugi, fog began to roll in, making our encounter with Jomon Sugi very mystical. In fact, our original reservation was canceled due to a big storm, and thanks to the effort made to reschedule us for the next day, we were able to visit Jomon Sugi. I am truly grateful for Yoshisugi's hospitality. Thanks to him, my annual trip to Japan became a very memorable experience. I definitely want to visit Yakushima again.

四月上旬に、イギリスからの一時帰国で、屋久島を訪れました。
自然が大好きなイギリス人の夫と２人での参加だったのですが、
本格的なトレッキングは２人とも初心者。
ペース配分はもちろんのこと、屋久島の事も色々知りたいと思っていたので、
ガイドさんを頼もうと、予約しました。
これは本当に大正解！
ガイドの吉筋さんが、何度となく、厳しい登りはこれで最後ですよ、
などポイントポイントで声をかけてくださったおかげで、
最後まで歩き切る事ができました。
その日はいいお天気で始まったのですが、私たちが縄文杉に到着する直前から、
霧が出始め、縄文杉との出会いはとても神秘的なものになりました。
実は、予約した日は大嵐で一度キャンセルになった私たちの日程をかなり無理をして翌日に調整してくださったおかげで縄文杉に行く事ができたのです。
そんな吉筋さんのホスピタリティには、本当に感謝しています。
お陰で、年に一度の日本の旅がとても印象深いものになりました。
また是非、屋久島には訪れたいと思っています。

By "steeling myself," I mean I was determined not to give up. Of course, the goal was for the whole family to finish together.

Based on the guide's various experiences, our plan was to trek through Shiratani Unsuikyo first, then head to Jomon Sugi. If we did it the other way around, we would be exhausted from the Jomon Sugi trek and then have to climb a long, steep slope from the fork towards Shiratani Unsuikyo. That makes sense.

On the day of the trek, we were blessed with perfect weather, and thanks to our excellent guide, we were able to reach the goal. I realized that keeping pace with the guide was a crucial factor in being able to finish. If you're not confident in your trekking abilities, please make sure to stay behind the guide!

The scenery is something that words can't fully express. Please challenge yourself with determination; amazing nature awaits you! The muscle soreness from that day is also a memorable experience.

前日にガイドの方から、本当にしんどいツアーですが大丈夫ですか？と言うことを念押しされ、ゴールできるのだろうか？などすごく心配になりつつ、ウトウトしていたら起きる時間になり、覚悟を決めて集合場所へ向かいました。
覚悟とは、絶対にギブアップしないという覚悟です。もちろん家族全員でゴールする。ということです。

ガイドの方の色んな経験から私たちは、白谷雲水峡➡縄文杉、先に白谷雲水峡をトレッキングするプランでした。
縄文杉➡白谷雲水峡にすると、縄文杉トレッキングでクタクタになったうえに、白谷雲水峡への分かれ道から、長い長い坂道を登っていかないといけないからです。
なるほど～。

当日は最高のお天気に恵まれ、最高のガイドの先導のおかげで、ゴール出来ました。
ガイドの方の歩調についていくことが、ゴールできる大事な要因だと痛感しました。
トレッキングに自信のない方は、是非ガイドの方の後ろを確保してくださいね～

景色などは言葉で言い表しきれないものです。

We somehow made it to Jomon Sugi, but I was so focused on just getting back to the bus that I couldn't even take in the moment. Yakushima's Jomon Sugi is a place I want to visit at least once in my life. Although I had always dreamed of it, I was filled with anxiety and worry about my lack of exercise and confidence in my physical strength, to the point that I felt a bit gloomy even though I had made the reservation myself (laughs).

On the day of the hike, we were blessed with good weather and set off with a party of mostly beginners! The guide who accompanied us was truly wonderful! With the right pace and captivating insights about Yakushima, despite walking for hours, I felt joyful and comfortable the entire time!

The anxiety I had about it being a tough challenge quickly vanished, and I was able to enjoy myself and stay energetic until the end. Seeing other guides and parties passing by made me realize that the experience of beginner trekking in Yakushima can vary greatly depending on the guide.

By the way, I rented shoes that are said to be important, and they checked and adjusted them the day before departure, so I was able to walk without any issues. The rental of the raincoat and backpack was also a huge help since I wasn't sure if I would continue hiking in the future! Someone else in our party seemed to have purchased everything for this trip, which must have been quite an expense.

I had the best trip, enjoying the long-awaited Jomon Sugi trekking in such an easy and fun way. Thank you very much!

ちなみに重要だと言われる靴をレンタルしましたが出発の前日に確認と調節をして下さり問題なく歩けました。

パーティが一緒だった別の方は、今回のために購入して揃えたようで結構な出費だったようです。

However, being the worrywart that I am, I might end up walking too fast to catch the bus back and not enjoy myself. Plus, I hardly walk normally, and if it rains, I might not make it back safely. So, after searching, I discovered this greedy course and decided to book a private guide to avoid inconveniencing others. I asked the experienced guide, Shimozono, who has been mentioned in various testimonials. I was looking forward to it every day, but as the date approached, my anxiety about the weather and what to bring increased. When I consulted Shimozono during the pre-check, he reassured me that it wouldn't rain that day and answered all my questions about what to bring with reasons, which resulted in me only needing to rent a backpack and trekking shoes, significantly reducing my luggage for Yakushima. I was very grateful for that. Most importantly, Shimozono's kind voice and way of speaking eased my trekking anxiety.

On the day of the trek, the excitement began right from the start. I listened to the explanations and enjoyed the walk, albeit slowly, while Shimozono and my husband waited for me. We smoothly cleared the mossy forest, Taiko Rock, and the tramway. From there to Jomon Sugi, my knees started to tire, and I walked even slower, but Shimozono kept encouraging me with cheerful remarks, and we successfully reached Jomon Sugi. 垢むす森にも太鼓岩にも縄文杉にも行きたい‼︎けど2日間歩く自信がない。だったら1日で行けばいいやん‼︎けど心配性な私は帰りのバスに間に合わせるために無駄に早く歩いてしまい楽しむことができなさそうだし普段ほとんど歩くことがないうえに雨が降るとなると無事に帰ってくることができないかもしれない。ということで検索した結果こちらのよくばりコースを発見し他の方に迷惑をかけてしまわないようにプライベートガイドを予約し体験談にちらほら出てくるベテランガイドのシモゾノさんにお願いすることにしました。それからは毎日楽しみにしていたのですが日が近づくにつれ天気や持ち物について不安が増えていったので事前確認の際にシモゾノさんに相談したところ、その日は雨降らないよ〜と言ってくださり持ち物について「これはいる？じゃあこれは？」とたくさん質問した一つ一つに理由をつけて答えてくださり結果レンタルする物がザックとトレッキングシューズだけになり屋久島への荷物が減り、とても有り難かったです。そして何よりシモゾノさんの優しい声と話し方がトレッキングへの不安をぶっ飛ばしてくれました。そして当日。トレッキング開始から感動が始まり説明を聞き楽しみ歩くのが遅いながらもシモゾノさんと旦那に待ってもらいつつ順調に苔むす森に太鼓岩にトロッコ道をクリア。そこから縄文杉までは膝が疲れ始めさらに歩くのが遅くなりましたがシモゾノさんが愉快な声かけをしてくださり無事に縄文杉もクリア。その後にシモゾノさんが作ってくださったお味噌は汗で冷えた体に染み渡りとても有り難かったです。そして恐怖の帰り道。歩き始めから膝が痛み始め顔が歪み涙が出てしまうほどの激痛に変わり旦那に手をひいてもらい後ろから来る方達に先に行ってもらうほど歩くのが遅くなりましたがトロッコ道まで帰ることができたので、あとは段差のない道を歩くだけだとほっとしたのも束の間、痛んだ膝は曲がらず浮腫んでパンパンになった足の指が靴先に当たり痛み始め、このままでは帰りのバスに間に合わないかもしれないというほどに歩くのが遅くなり不安になっているとシモゾノさんが鎮痛剤をくださりインソールをはずせばいいとアドバイスしてくださり温かいコーヒーを作ってくださり膝も足も気持ちも復活し無事に17時のバスで帰ることができましたし楽しい気持ちで終えることができました。迷惑をかけてしまったにも関わらず最後まで愉快な声かけで励ましてくださり優しく対応してくださったシモゾノさんには本当に本当に感謝です。あと、シモゾノさんから声をかけてくださり、たくさんの場所で写真を撮ってくださったことにも感謝です。トレッキング中に食べることができなかったタンカンと柿ピー美味しくいただきました。本当に本当にありがとうございました。

I booked a tour during Golden Week. It was incredibly crowded, and it seemed difficult even to ride the local bus. There were long lines, and I shuddered at the thought of having to arrange everything myself. The tour bus provided pick-up and drop-off at the accommodation, which was a huge help. We arrived at the destination smoothly without any waiting. The return trip was also seamless. It was comfortable, and I felt it was worth signing up just for that.

Unfortunately, the guide this time... there wasn't much explanation, and we just kept moving forward. It seemed like they were not feeling well and didn't have the capacity to look around. Ultimately, they had to retire partway through, and we were handed over to a different guide... what a shame. I wish we had a fully capable guide from the start.

As a result, we suddenly became a party of 16 and formed a large group heading towards Jomon Sugi. That turned out to be a good thing! We had a great guide. They provided clear instructions and took the time to help each person with photos, managing a large number of people in heavy rain. あまり説明もなくどんどんと進んで行きます。どうやら体調が悪かったみたいで、周りを見る余裕が無かったんでしょうね。最終的には、途中でリタイアされて、違うガイドさんに引き継がれて帰られました、、、、残念。それなら、最初から万全な方にガイドして欲しかったです。
というわけで、急遽16人パーティーとなり大きな一団となって縄文杉を目指すことになりました。それが逆に良かった！当たりのガイドさんでした。的確に指示をしてくれたり、写真を細かく1人1人対応してくれたり、大雨の中で大変な人数に対応をして下さいました。16人を相手ですから、完璧なガイドは無理だったと思いますが、精一杯のガイドをしてくださったので良い思い出になりました。ありがとうございました。ただ、私達の合流のせいで、元々おられた方たちの気持ちを考えると、、、、

I had a great time.
I participated on May 1st, the first day of the Reiwa era.
The tour guide and the driver were very nice, and even though it rained and we got caught in traffic, I didn't feel any of the difficulties and spent a fulfilling time.
On the way to the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, we were almost late for the last dolphin show due to traffic, but thanks to the quick thinking of the two of them, we were able to see it safely.

添乗員さん運転手さんのお人柄が良く、雨が降ったり渋滞にも巻き込まれたのに、そんな大変さも感じらことなく充実した時間を過ごしました。
美ら海水族館までの道中は、渋滞で最後のイルカショーに間に合わないところでしたが、お二人の機転で、無事に観ることが出来ました。
お水や、あめ、お菓子など良いポイントで提供していただき、疲れも吹っ飛び心が和みました。

You taught us a lot, even though we were almost beginners. You shared information about plants, mountains, walking techniques, and how to use trekking poles, as well as about dangerous spots on the trail.

In the second half, I lost my stamina and tripped, but your first aid was spot on and really helped. Thank you so much.

It was a really fun tour. I want to challenge myself again and visit other places as well. The muscle pain the next day and the day after was intense, but it was a pleasant kind of pain.

The weather was great, too; it was perfect.

If you only take the Jomon Sugi route, you'll walk the long Torokko Path back and forth in full, but this way you can skip a bit. However, since both are included, there isn't much time to spare, so those who focus on taking photos might find it boring. I think it's great for those who want to walk quietly and see various things and finish the mountain in one day! I'm satisfied!

朝に太鼓岩、そのあとトロッコ道に合流して縄文杉へ。
縄文杉ルートのみだと、長いトロッコ道を往復ともフルで歩きますが、こちらなら少し省けます。
ただ、どちらもいくので時間的に余裕はなく、写真重視の方はつまらないかもです。
黙々と歩いて色々見たい、

However, I believe the satisfaction of the tour can vary depending on personal preferences regarding the guide's character. My guide had 12 years of experience and was knowledgeable, but was rather straightforward and lacked humor. Another guide from the same company was friendly and created a lively atmosphere where participants could bond. I think this isn't just a matter of luck but rather reflects the diversity of personalities. Everyone has their own preferences for what kind of guide they like, but since it’s a matter of chance which guide you get, I think if you consider that risk when booking the tour, you won’t have regrets.

写真をガイドさん一押しスポットの何箇所かで撮っていただけたのがいい記念になりました。説明もわかりやすくて、ふーん！という気分になれました。歩き方も参考になり、ガイドさんの後ろを歩くときは足場をどこにおくか真似することができました。
ただ、ガイドさんのキャラの好みや合う合わないによってツアーの満足度は左右されると思います。私のガイドさんは歴12年で知識は豊富でしたが、どちらかというとあっさりしていて淡白で笑いがありませんでした。同じ会社のもう1人のガイドさんは人懐っこくて笑いが絶えず参加者同士も仲良くなれるような雰囲気でした。これは当たり外れではなくキャラが多様だということだと思います。どういう人がいいかは人それぞれですがどんなガイドさんに当たるかは運なので、そのリスクを踏まえてツアーを申し込むと後悔がないのではないでしょうか。

Since it was my first time in Yakushima and I didn't know the highlights, I honestly felt that 8,000 yen was expensive, but I decided to book this tour. The group consisted of two couples and myself, making a total of five people. I enjoy photography, so I was hoping to hear about the highlights while taking lots of pictures. However, right from the start, the guide said, "Since there are two couples and you, please stay at the back and follow along. If you want to take pictures, go ahead, and if you want to move ahead, we'll wait for you!" I thought this guide was suspicious from the beginning, but I took my place at the very back of the line as the tour started. As expected, being at the back meant I couldn't hear the guide's explanations, and while I was taking pictures, I was left behind. Even when I caught up, there were no additional explanations given. To top it off, while we were still on our way, the guide casually said, "You probably don't want to take pictures, so I'll leave your stuff that you left in the car at the entrance, and you can just take the bus back!" I was truly at a loss for words. I love traveling and visit various places, but I don't think I've ever encountered such a irresponsible and careless guide (T-san). At the very least, if they had offered to reduce the tour price to half or one-third after the cash payment, I could have understood, but the tour fee was already paid by credit card. To be treated like a nuisance and told to leave before even halfway through the tour was shocking.

After that, I was made to walk at the very back again, and even when I was delayed, there was no concern from the guide. At a restroom stop, even though I intended to go, I was told, "You're slow, so just go ahead without using the restroom." When I arrived at the break point with the other couples, I was greeted with, "Oh? You made it, huh?" I really wondered what this guide thought of themselves. The scenery was incredibly beautiful, which made T-san's attitude even more disappointing. Since I can only give a rating of one, personally, I would give it minus 100 points. They probably have a decent amount of guiding experience. As I was leaving, the guide said, "Please use us again!" and I was shocked at how they could say that. I will never use this company's tour again, but if they cut corners because I was a solo participant this time, I hope they treat every customer with care in the future, regardless of who they are, since everyone pays the same amount.

This was the only disappointing point of my trip. For those who love photography or are participating individually, not all guides are like this, but I strongly recommend going solo instead of joining a tour.

初めての屋久島だった事もあり、見所も分からないので、８０００円は正直高いなと感じながらもこちらのツアーを申し込みました。人数構成としては、カップル２組、私の計５名という形でした。私は写真撮影が好きなので、見所も聴きつつ、沢山写真が撮れればと考えていましたが、スタート早々、今回はカップル２組と私という構成なので、カップルの方を前で、私(〇〇さん)は後ろからのんびり付いてきて下さい。写真を撮りたければ撮って、先行っちゃうようでしたら待ってるんで！とのこと。開始早々、このガイドは怪しいなと思いながらも隊列の一番後ろについてツアー開始。案の定一番後ろなのでガイドの案内も聞こえず、写真を撮ってればどんどん置いていかれ、追い付いても追加の説明は何もされず、極め付けは、まだ行きの途中で〇〇さん(私)は写真撮りたんないだろうから、車の中に置いてきた荷物は入口に置いておくから帰りバスで帰れば！！と何食わぬ顔で言われました。これには流石に言葉を失いました。私も旅が好きなので、色々な場所に行きますが、これほど無責任で適当なガイド(Ｔさん)は他を探してもそうそう居ないと思いますし、初めて遭遇しました。せめて現金決済後払いで、ツアー代金を半額にします。１／３にしますならまだ話は分かりますが、ツアー代金はクレジット決済で入金済み。ツアー半分も来てないで、厄介者扱い、帰れは本当に衝撃でした。その後も隊列の一番後ろを歩かされ、遅れてもなんの心配もせず、また途中のトイレのポイントではトイレに行こうと思ってたにも関わらず、〇〇さんは遅いからトイレ行かずに先に言ってて下さいと言われる始末。休憩ポイントに他のカップルと一緒に着いた時には、あれ？〇〇さん来てたんですねと声を掛けられ、本当にこのガイドは何様なんだ？と感じました。景色などが凄く綺麗だっただけに、本当に今回のガイドのＴさん(下の名前)の態度は本当に残念なものでした。今回の評価が一からしか付けられないので一ですが、個人的には−１００点くらいです。おそらくガイド歴はそこそこ長いのでしょう。帰り際にまた使って下さい！と声を掛けられましたが、どの口が言えるのかとビックリしました。私がまたこの会社のツアーを使うことは二度とありませんが、今回は若者の一人参加相手で手を抜いた部分があったのだとしたら、次回からどんな相手にでも、同じお金を払ってるお客様として一人一人丁寧にガイドをしてもらいたいものです。
今回の旅で唯一残念に感じたポイントです。
カメラ好きな方や個人参加の方はガイドさん皆が皆こうではないですが、ツアーには参加せず単独で行くのを強くお勧めします。

We were able to enjoy various vegetation explanations and observations on the way to Jomon Sugi, taking over 5 hours just on the outbound journey! The return trip was in heavy rain, but it felt like an adventure through an untouched forest. The guides were very friendly, and the long day passed in no time.

縄文杉に着くまでに様々な植生を解説・観察でき、往路だけで5時間越えの道を楽しみながらたどり着くことができました！
また、帰りは豪雨の中でしたが、これぞ手付かずの森というような、アドベンチャー感溢れる道のりでした

On the day I arrived in Yakushima, I picked up my rental items at the port and then returned them to the hotel front the next day after the tour. It was very helpful since I had little luggage and it didn't take much time to go pick up the rentals. I think the prices are reasonable too! The guide was very knowledgeable, and I was able to enjoy climbing even the tough paths. They also taught us how to take secret photos... Although I participated alone, it was nice that they made an effort to help everyone get along.

It would be even more helpful if the preparation for the lunch boxes could be clearly stated. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by the different accommodations for departure and return, but thank you for your kind assistance.

ツアー翌日ホテルフロントに預ける流れです。
荷物も少なく、レンタルしに行く手前もかからず、大変助かりました。
お値段的にも良心的だと思います！
