Of course, the highlight of the evening was the performance of the amazing maiko san.

京料理を食べながら舞妓さんに会えて感激
Reviewed by: TH, 2023/10/10平日の12:00に東観荘へ伺いました。個室に案内され既にテーブルが用意されていました。飲み物と前菜が出された後に舞妓さんが登場して、踊りを2曲披露してくれました。その後に舞妓さんとおしゃべりを色々させてもらいました。まだ18歳くらいの舞妓さんらしく、笑顔がとても可愛いらしい感じでした。何を話そうか事前に質問事項などを考えてきましたが、質問のネタも尽きてしまうくらい、あっという間の2時間でした。
この度はありがとうございます。

お料理、川床、舞妓さん全て最高でした！
Reviewed by: 国内旅行初心者, 2023/08/12海外からの親戚が来日。初めての京都ということで、何か特別な思い出になれば、と申し込みました。同行する私と子供は５ヶ月前に京都旅行をしたばかり。。私たちにとっても普通の京都旅行では経験しないことを、と思い、夏ということもあり、川床の夕食にしました。夏に京都に行くなら川床にいきたい、と常々おもっていました。舞妓さんにも会える日程ということで、親戚にはどんな夕食か詳しく説明せず、サプライズにしました。
選んだすき焼きはボリュームたっぷり。お肉も柔らかく美味しい。川床も涼しく、虫の声が涼しげ。川面に写る提灯も情緒たっぷり。そして可愛らしい舞妓さんがにこやかに応対してくれ、写真もたくさんとらせていただきました。スタッフのかたも写真を撮ってくれたり、お茶などのおかわりも、すぐ快く対応してくれました。バスの運転手さんもとても愛想のいいかたでした。外国人の親戚にも、子供にも大好評で、大正解でした。舞妓さんの踊りを間近で見ることができ、素敵な思い出になりました。またぜひ行きたいです！

It was amazing.
Reviewed by: Tiger, 2023/04/15I had the pleasure of attending an ozashiki, a traditional Japanese banquet, and was fortunate enough to be in the company of Maiko San, a skilled and talented geisha-in-training. The experience was simply unforgettable, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
From the moment I arrived, Maiko San's warm and welcoming demeanor put me at ease. Her stunning kimono, intricate hair and makeup, and graceful movements transported me back in time to a world of beauty and elegance.
Throughout the evening, Maiko San entertained us with her exquisite dancing, singing, and music. She played a variety of traditional Japanese instruments, including the shamisen and the koto, and her skills were truly awe-inspiring.
But what really stood out to me was the way in which Maiko San engaged with everyone at the ozashiki. She took the time to chat with each of us individually, answering our questions and sharing stories about her life as a maiko. Her warmth and charm were infectious, and I felt privileged to have been able to spend time in her company.
Overall, my experience at the ozashiki with Maiko San was simply magical. It was a unique and authentic glimpse into a world that few outsiders get to experience, and I left feeling inspired and enriched. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to immerse themselves in Japanese culture and tradition.

とても楽しく貴重な体験でした

楽しい話に気を取られて食べるのが遅くなりちょっと女将さんを慌てさせてしまったかもしれません。
普通のお茶屋での舞妓遊びはどういうものなのかは知らないですが一言さんお断りと言われ、通常では一生垣間見る事のない舞妓遊びがアクティビティとして堪能出来たのはまたとない貴重な体験でした。

舞妓さんと話せる時間が長いので、嬉しいけど話題がなくなってきます。なので客２人で行きましたが、客４人ぐらいで行っても良かったかも。
食事おいしかったです。話している時間が長く、食べ物に集中できない時間もあるのが、もったいないぐらい。
総合的に、素晴らしいプランでした。

舞妓さん芸妓さんとじっくり話ができました！
Reviewed by: クリキー, 2021/09/12数ヶ月前に舞妓さんと少しお話しする機会があり、その際の歴史や文化だけでなく人としての魅力もあり是非今度はゆっくりお話ししてみたいということで今回申込ました。
円山公園内の敷地にある静かな料亭で鱧づくしをいただきながら、芸妓さん舞妓さんの舞とお話しを堪能させていただきました。話が楽しすぎてご飯を食べるのが大変でした。
感染予防もしっかりされていることに加え、ノンアルコールでのお食事でした。
最初は慣れないかなり贅沢な広さかつ、お客さんの少ない時期でもあり静かな空間で、舞妓さん芸妓さんと4人、お酒もないこともありかなり緊張してスタートしました。
こちらがかなり緊張していたので、舞を見ている間やお互い最初はぎこちない感じでしたが、お2人の様々なお話をお伺いするうちにすぐにごみました。
コロナ禍での舞妓さんや芸妓さんのお仕事の状況の大変さや、足元のオリンピックの話、これまでのご経験やこれからの夢など、普段知ることのないことも含めてお話しをさせていただき、とても良い経験になりました。
舞妓さんのコロナ禍での大変さや、英語の流暢な芸妓さん、そして80歳を超えてなお現役の芸妓さんのお話しなど、昔からの変えてはならない風習や文化と、時代に合わせて変えていく部分など、色々と考えさせられることもあり大変勉強になりました。
どうしてもコロナ禍でのお仕事の機会が減ったり外出制限など、已む無く辞めてしまう方もいらっしゃるようですが、大変な中ですが是非この素晴らしい文化を継承してほしいですし、応援したいと思います。
また、是非季節を変えて、また参加してみたいです。
また最後になりましたが、veltraさんのご担当者には2ヶ月前より色々とご無理申し上げ、ご調整いただき大変感謝しております。おかげさまで大満足の経験でした。本当にありがとうございました。

バスを降りた瞬間の幻想的な場所。まるで千と千尋の神隠しに出てきそうな場所です。
料理はセッティングされていたのですが・・・・
蓋を開けたら、お肉のすごいことすごいこと！！感激です。
食事も終盤にかかると舞妓さんの登場。ご挨拶が終わり各テーブルへ
今日の舞妓さんは、宮川町の君翔さんです。
話も終わりいよいよ踊りの披露、二舞してくれました。
非日常をありがとう。

夏の京都を満喫した感じ

京都市街地から約30分位かかりますがバス送迎あり、単独では行きづらいくらい山手の道も良くない場所なので楽でした。
また、川を目の前にした料理、舞妓さんとの会話、舞妓さんの踊りと予想以上に楽しめて本当に夏らしい京都を満喫して出来ました。

Make sure you bring your camera, as you will want to capture all the beauty of the night! I brought my polaroid and it was a big hit among other guest and the Maiko-san herself! Highly recommend taking this tour!

Too expensive for such a performance
Reviewed by: Azadeh Iranian, 2019/11/04The geisha was so amateur, she was shaking while dancing. Nobody explained the way we should eat the traditional food.
On the way back, the tour leader was just speaking Japanese and didn’t care about foreigners attendants. She was speaking Japanese all the way back, and sometimes they were laughing or clapping and we as foreigners just waiting for some explanations but nothing.
In my idea it was a dishonor to non-Japanese guest. The tour provider company should provide the same Facilities for all guests. In General it was an expensive activity with poor facilities!

Great experience, great price

We were able to talk with our Maiko for a few minutes and take a picture with her after her performance. We did not speak very much Japanese (only the very basics), but that did not diminish our experience. We had a great time, and it was nice we didn't have to spend a ton of money on one dinner like some other activities that are available with maiko. I would definitely recommend this if you'd like to meet a maiko and see her perform.

A highlight of my trip

Maiko spoke good English, which was a huge relief and surprise. Dance was cool, food was good, and the all you can drink alcohol was too much fun.
Thank you for coming the beer garden dinner the other day.
I was worried about meal(spicy beef hot pot dish), because we were not sure if you will like it.
But we are very glad to hear that!
We hold the beer garden dinner every summer season and look forward to seeing you again.

Pleasent affordable geisha experience

Affordable Maiko experience, we chose this experience over parlor games/tea time because we wouldn’t know what to ask a geisha or if language barrier would be a problem. My sister and I enjoyed the performance very much. When we did it it was a small group and the tour leader was the best. One thing to take note is the experience is probably enhanced if you do speak Japanese or have someone that does so you can compliment the performance or ask the Maiko questions, but we knew this going in. Also the bus tour around town showing shrines and temples isn’t necessarily scenic, but rather a quick pass by of all the places (very easy to miss some spots if you don’t turn around quick enough) , but the view at the top of Osaka is worthwhile

趣あるぅ～～♪
Reviewed by: エチゴヤ, 2019/07/18当日は生憎の雨で少し涼しく感じられる天気でしたが、抜群のロケーションのなか川床で美味しい食事（すき焼きを選択）を頂きながら舞妓さんの舞やお話しでひととき現実逃避してきました～。（笑） もちろん写真撮影もバッチリいけますよ！
聞いたところ5つある川床のうち4つ入客あった様で舞妓さんも、上七軒から梅たえさん・ふみ幸さん 宮川町から菊弥江さん・叶季（かなすえ）さんの4名が来てくれてました。（時間の都合でふみ幸さんとはお目にかかれませんでしたが・・・悲）
なにより、スタッフのみなさんの気づかい心くばりも嬉しかったですね～・・・ここ、お薦めですよ！奥様～♪（笑）

The Maiko dance show was too short - only 15 minutes.
Reviewed by: Peter, 2019/03/25After an half hour bus ride to the venue, dinner was served following by a show with single maiko. It's a decent performance lasting 15 minutes. The photo taking session with maiko by individual guests took the longest time for the night's activities.

Good value to experience Japan Culture
Reviewed by: Shirley L, 2019/02/16Maiko was very beautiful and graceful . Her performance was great. I enjoyed it very much. The tour was a little rush. After we finished dinner we only had 15 mins left to shop and walk around the garden. The staff in the restaurant was polite and nice. I only wish they could introduce in both Japanese and English (They only speak Japanese so we had no idea what was going on)

Summertime Riverside Dinner in Kyoto with Maiko at Momijiya (2024/7/1～9/30)

Reviewed by: jewon310, 2018/09/18We missed the shuttle bus so taking a taxi was our only option. The Hotel Monterey Kyoto front desk was so kind and willing; she called the cab and informed the taxi driver where to drop us off which saved us a lot of time. The shuttle from the restaurant came out and met us about a mile away as the roads get narrow and difficult to find for drivers unfamiliar with that area. The cab fare came out to be about $35-40 from the Hotel (which was less than what I expected). I highly recommend catching the shuttle service on time (be there early as they will leave exactly on time!)-- not only it's more comfortable having someone drive you to the restaurant, but it will save you time and money.
The restaurant is located in a very secluded and quiet area, completely surrounded by nature. They will greet and walk you to your designated table. The guiding lights in the complete dark woods make the ambience more beautiful. All meals will come out in your eating pace... which is important because I eat pretty slow and sometimes course meals rush you to hurry up and eat. I wasn't sure how to eat fish properly (whether I was supposed to eat the whole entire fish or leave the head or tail), so the older lady came over and removed all the bones for me. Service was fantastic.
There were two Maikos that night-- both Maikos came around, very willing to take pictures and answer questions/ conversate with you. When they start their dancing, I couldn't help but to stare in awe. They look like walking dolls. They also had goodies before the show (i.e a fan, canvas bag, etc). It was a pleasant experience. I highly recommend this tour. I want to do this again if I travel back to Kyoto in near future.
