For me, who experienced kyogen for the first time, it was a very interesting event, and I enjoyed it a lot. What I liked first was the opening act by the theater group Enban Rider. This pre-show, which explained the basic knowledge of Noh theater through a skit modeled after the performance, allowed me to prepare for entering the world of kyogen while also relaxing and enjoying the show.

Additionally, it seems that the selected performances are likely chosen to be interesting even for beginners. I appreciated that the comedic moments were easy to understand.

The backstage tour was also very fascinating, as it allowed us to peek behind the scenes of the Noh stage, which is not something you can see often. The explanations were thorough, ensuring that any questions were addressed, which gave me a little insight into the traditional performing arts of Noh and kyogen and the environment in which they have developed.

If I were to be picky, I thought the club-like atmosphere might be unnecessary. I believe many young people could enjoy it even without that aspect.

However, I still think it was a great event that was entertaining and allowed for a relaxed interaction with traditional performing arts.

初めて狂言を鑑賞した私にとっても非常に面白いイベントで、とても楽しめました。まず気に入ったのが円盤ライダーという劇団の方々による前説です。今回の演目を模したコントで能舞台の基礎知識を説明する、この前説では狂言の世界に入り込む準備ができるとともに、肩の力を抜いて鑑賞できるという良さもありました。

また、おそらく演目も初心者が見ても面白いものを選択しているのでしょう。笑いどころが分かりやすいものが上演されていたのもありがたかったです。

バックヤードツアーもなかなか見ることができない能舞台の裏側をのぞくことができて非常に興味深かったです。何かあれば、しっかり痒いところまで手が届くような説明がされるので、能や狂言がどのような土壌で育ってきた伝統芸能かと言うことが少しだけわかった気がします。

欲を言えば、クラブ風にするのは蛇足かなあとも思いました。若い人もこれが無くても楽しめる人は多いだろうと思うからです。

しかし、やっぱり面白いし肩の力を抜いて伝統芸能に触れ合える、良いイベントだったと思います。

初心者の人でも楽しめるよう、上演前に狂言の歴史や舞台を解説してくれますが、これがおもしろい！狂言自体は現代語ではなく古語を使うため、外国語を聞いているようでしたが、演者の所作、声の抑揚、話し方のおかげで、ある程度、理解することができました。

今回、バックヤードツアー付きを申し込んでいたため、普段一般の人が入ることのできない裏舞台に潜入することができました。お弟子さんの案内のもと、演者控えの場や、楽屋、小道具などの説明を聞いたり、幕の開け閉めを再現してくれたりと、狂言に対してより興味が沸くツアー内容でした。

異空間の中、高貴でオシャレな時間を過ごすことができ、思い出に残る一夜となりました。
来年も定期的に公演があるようですので、また鑑賞してみたいと思いました。

I had absolutely no prior knowledge about Kyogen, but I was invited and decided to participate. I thought there would be many older people given the name "Noh Theatre," but I was surprised to see mostly young attendees! The lounge was filled with stylish adult women in kimonos and dressed up nicely. True to its title, it really had a "party-like" atmosphere.

The performance was "Hagi Daimyo." I came without knowing the story, but the performers explained how to enjoy it and the highlights in a fun and easy-to-understand way. It turns out that as long as you know a few tips, anyone can enjoy Kyogen! Before I knew it, an hour had flown by as I was captivated. I want to invite my friends and parents to go see it again next time.

Is there really a Noh theater on the second basement level of the Cerulean Tower? I was curious and decided to participate. After checking in and entering the Noh theater, I could see the stage from the side. I took a seat in the front row to the side of the stage and went to the foyer to exchange the Hyakunin Isshu card I received at the reception for a drink. Many people were already enjoying drinks, creating a lively atmosphere, and I had some whiskey. It helped me relax a bit. Then, I passed by the DJ booth and returned to the venue, taking photos of the stage and leisurely waiting for the performance to start.

When it was time for the show to begin, they started with an introduction to the food served in the foyer, followed by an amusing explanation of theater etiquette and how to handle difficult words. The performance this time was "Hagi Daimyo." The distance to the stage was close, allowing me to see the performers' expressions up close. The dialogue had a lot of repetition, making the structure of the story easy to understand, and I could listen without feeling tense. 開演時間になると、ホワイエで振舞っていた料理の紹介に始まり、観劇のマナー、とっつきにくい言葉への対応方法など面白おかしく説明していただけました。
今回の演目は萩大名。舞台との距離が近くて演者の表情が間近で見え、反復の多い会話でしたのでお話の構成も分かりやすく、身構えずに聞くことができました。また、よく聞き取れないところがあっても、演者の大げさな表情・所作だけでも面白く感じました。
観劇できてよかったです。

When the venue opens, you are given a drink ticket, which is a Hyakunin Isshu, and I enjoyed some champagne while getting into the mood before the kyogen performance. In addition to drinks, there is a paid option where the Japanese restaurant "Kitanaka" prepares special mini kaiseki dishes, which you can also savor.

The kyogen lounge has a completely relaxed atmosphere. 渋谷能楽堂は、セルリアンタワーの地下2階にあります。

会場がOPENになると、ドリンクチケット=百人一首を渡されるので
シャンパンを頂き、狂言の前に一心地付きました。
ドリンクの他にも有料ではりますが、和食「金田中」が特注の
ミニ懐石料理を作ってくださっているので味わうことも出来ます。

狂言ラウンジは、畏まった感じは全くなく、
狂言の前には前座で、コントが繰り広げられ、そこで狂言に纏わる
言葉の説明や舞台の説明等あるので、狂言が初めての方でも
鑑賞し易いと思います。また、主催者である大藏基誠氏からも
狂言の前に、演目のご説明をされるので、狂言自体も理解し易いです。

狂言の後は、能楽堂のバックヤードの見学です。
少し前に見た狂言の舞台裏を拝見出来るので、
幕の裏側、幕を上げるタイミング等々、確かに普段では見れない
光景を目の当たりに出来るので、短時間ではありましたが
楽しかったです。

狂言は、堅苦しいイメージがありますが、この狂言ラウンジでは
身近なものに感じることが出来ましたら、楽しい時間を過ごせ
来年開催の狂言ラウンジにはお伺いしようかなと思っています。

I attended the "Kyogen Lounge" at the Cerulean Tower Noh Theatre.

One of the Hyakunin Isshu poems was transformed into a stylish free drink ticket, allowing us to enjoy a glass of wine, and we savored hors d'oeuvres inspired by that day's performance prepared by the chef from Kanesaka. We laughed at the modern and amusing pre-show commentary and were impressed by the behind-the-scenes stories of the Noh stage. There were so many unique and unconventional ideas to enjoy the classical art of "Kyogen," which has remained unchanged since the Muromachi period! It was a very enjoyable time.

I also participated in a backstage tour, and compared to opera houses both domestic and international, it was very simple! This is understandable, as opera is a comprehensive art that includes stage sets and costumes, while Noh and Kyogen rely as little as possible on costumes and props, focusing instead on "evoking the audience's imagination." I found this very intriguing.

By experiencing the Noh stage from both the front and the back, I felt I could somewhat grasp the concept of "Rikimi no Mi." Thank you for a wonderful extraordinary experience.

セルリアンタワー能楽堂の『狂言ラウンジ』を拝見してきました。

百人一首の一枚がお洒落なフリードリンク券になっていてグラスワインを頂けたり、「金田中」の料理長によるその日の演目に因んだオードブルに舌鼓を打ったり、現代風オモシロ前説に笑ったり、能舞台のアレコレ裏話になるほど！っと感心したり・・・・室町時代から変わらぬ古典芸能「狂言」をフランクに味わうための型にはまらない粋な趣向がいっぱい！！とても愉しいひとときでした。

舞台裏見学にも参加したのですが、内外のオペラハウスのバックステージと比べてとってもシンプル！！それもそのはず、オペラは舞台セットやコスチュームも含む総合芸術なのに対して、お能や狂言は極力衣装や道具に頼らず『観客のイメージ力を喚起する芸』なのだと伺ってとても興味深かったです。

表から裏から能舞台を観ることで、すこしだけ「離見の見」を体感できたように思います。素敵な非日常体験をありがとうございました。

ドリンクと引き換えるのも惜しく感じて思わず写真をパチリ。100枚のうちの1枚、という点になんだかその1枚に愛着を感じました。

本当にパーティーみたいな感じで少しほろ酔い気分で席について、いよいよスタート。
スタート、と思ったらショートコントが始まり狂言のあれこれを面白おかしく教えてもらいましたのでその後の狂言の楽しみ方が変わりました。

実際の狂言は、はじめ聞きなれないのでよくよく耳を澄ましていましたが
だんだん耳が慣れてきておもしろおかしく楽しむことができました！
もちろん全部理解するのは難しかったのですが、最初に説明してもらったので無理に理解しようとせずに、想像力と少しの聞き取りで楽しみました。

早速、行ったことのない旦那と次回は行ってみようかと思います。
今回の参加で日本独特の文化に興味を持ち始めました♪ありがとうございました。

There was also an exhibition and sale of antique goods like kimono obis and tableware, which made the time before the performance enjoyable without getting bored. As for my impression of kyogen... I didn't expect it to be this entertaining! I had avoided traditional performing arts because I thought they were difficult, but thanks to the easy-to-understand explanations, I was able to get into it smoothly in a short time. 日本人としてお恥ずかしながら…狂言…正直、聞いたことありませんでした。「パーティー感覚で狂言を楽しむ！」という見出しに目を惹かれ、興味本位で参加。会場に着くと、そこはまさにパーティー会場。ワンドリンク付きなので早速私は白ワインをいただきました。着物を着たDJが落ち着いた音楽を流し、たくさんの人がワイン片手に歓談を楽しんでいました。着物を着て来ている方も結構いたように思います。着物の帯や食器などアンティーク雑貨の展示販売もあり、開演前の時間も飽きずに楽しめました。そして狂言の感想はというと…「こんなに面白いと思わなかった！」です。伝統芸能って難しいイメージで避けてきたけど、分かりやすい説明のおかげで短時間ですんなり入っていけました。そうそう、用意されているパンフレットは必読です！お話のあらすじや狂言についての説明などが書かれているので、先に目を通しておくと2倍楽しめます。次の公演も行っちゃおうかな～

The beautiful finger foods from Sukiya Kanetaka were so captivating that I couldn't help but admire them. Each dish is said to be inspired by the performances. Although I missed out on them before the show, they were freshly prepared again after the performance. I noticed many women in kimonos and young ladies dressed up. If an older gentleman brought me here on a date, I would surely be enchanted.

I wanted to be sure to see a geisha performance while I was in Kyoto, and I was lucky that this one was on while I was in town. It was perfect. There were 6 different short dances. The costumes were beautiful, there was live singing, the location was very convenient, and the venue was good. The tea ceremony was like the "fast food" version, as they needed to get everybody in and out quickly to accommodate an entire theater full of people in the 1 hour before the show. But it was fine. No need to get there an hour early. 15 minutes is probably enough, and you'll still have time for your "fast food" tea ceremony. And they give you the plate as a souvenir. No photography is allowed, so I can't post any pictures.

This time, I attended a Kyogen performance for the first time at the invitation of a friend.

初めての会場に緊張しておりましたが、主催者の方々の笑顔と会場全体の雰囲気の明るさに心をほぐされ、和装洋装様々なお姿で開演を待つ来場者の期待に心踊る表情や、お酒を楽しめるスペースと手頃な肴のご用意に心が和み、その一方で舞台の造形の美しさと厳かさに心が引き締まり、開演してからの演目の内容と、演者の方のご発声の大きさと美しさに心が奪われ、終始心が揺さぶられる貴重な時間を過ごすことができました。

狂言を知ったかぶりの分かったふりで楽しむのではなく、本企画の心温かな演出のおかげで、開場から終演まで楽しみながら狂言を理解し、心から楽しめることができました。

I attended my first kyogen performance in my life!

The event description mentioned, "Enjoyable kyogen for beginners in a party-like atmosphere," but since it was my first time, I felt a bit nervous. The day before, I researched manners and dress codes, and since I went after work, I couldn't wear a dress or kimono, but I made sure to dress nicely before heading to the venue. After checking in, I received a drink ticket.

Since it was open seating, I secured my seat before exchanging my drink ticket, but I arrived a bit late, so most of the front seats were already taken. The front row on the side was open, so I decided to sit there (during the performance, I enjoyed it just as much from the side as I would have from the front!).

When the performance began, I thought I would stay quiet to avoid being rude, but I was given a fun and engaging explanation of the manners (like when to applaud), the history of kyogen, and a general overview of the stories beforehand. Even though there were words I didn't understand during the performance, it was so funny that I couldn't help but laugh! It made me realize that the sense of humor hasn't changed over time. Thanks to the prior explanation, I quickly understood the flow of the stories, and before I knew it, I was drawn into the world of kyogen, and the 45 minutes flew by!

I couldn't participate in the backstage tour due to time constraints, but since I found kyogen so interesting, I would have loved to see the backstage (the dressing room visit) as well. Next time, I want to include the backstage tour and see another performance!

公演の説明には「パーティー感覚で初心者でも楽しめる狂言を」と書いてありましたが、初の狂言鑑賞だったので緊張しました。前日はマナーやドレスコードなどいろいろと調べ、仕事後に行ったのでドレスや着物は着ていけませんでしたが、一応キレイめな格好をしていざ開場へ。
受付を済ませ、ドリンクチケットをいただきました。
自由席だったので、ドリンクを引き換える前に席の確保を先にしましたが少し遅れて行った為、正面の席はほぼ埋まっていました。横席前列は開いていたのでそちらに座ることに（鑑賞中は正面も横も関係なく楽しめました！）。

いざ公演が始まり、マナー違反にならないようにひたすらおとなしくしようと思っていたのですが、事前にマナー（拍手をするタイミングなど）や狂言の歴史、大体のお話のあらすじなどを面白おかしく解説してもらえました。
演目中は分からない言葉がありつつも、それでも声を出して笑ってしまうほど面白かったです！今も昔も、笑いのツボは一緒なんだな－と感じました。事前の解説のおかげで話の流れもすぐ理解できたので置いていかれることもなく、気づけば狂言の世界に引き込まれ、あっという間の45分間でした！

そのあとのバックヤードツアーは時間の都合で参加することはできませんでしたが、狂言が面白かったのでバックヤード（楽屋訪問）も見たかったです。次回はバックヤードツアーも含め別の演目を見に行きたいです！

I had been hesitant about traditional performing arts because they seemed so highbrow. However, I decided to take the plunge and sign up for this tour, especially since it promised a behind-the-scenes look.

Before the performance, there was an explanation of what kyogen is, and we enjoyed a comedic dialogue based on the play "Soron." Since photography wasn't allowed during the performance, we were able to pose for pictures beforehand, which was a great service. Thanks to this, I found it very easy to understand and truly enjoy kyogen.

Listening to the explanation allowed me to appreciate the sounds of the performers' feet on stage, realizing, "Ah, indeed, the Noh stage is designed to echo sound well," and as I watched the performers move in a triangular pattern, I thought, "Ah, this is the journey now." I was able to notice these details while enjoying the performance.

Additionally, there was a backstage tour that you can't usually see, which I absolutely recommend.

The Kyogen Lounge is located in a prime area of Shibuya, inside the Cerulean Tower, where you can enjoy sparkling wine before the performance. Plus, the renowned restaurant Kanesaka is also included, allowing for a leisurely meal before the show.

　事前に狂言とは何ぞや、との解説あり、今回の演目である『宗論』を素材にした掛け合い漫才？あり、（上演中は撮影できないため）事前にポーズをとっていただいたり、サービス満点でした。そのおかげでとてもわかりやすく、狂言を心から楽しみことが出来ました。
解説を聞いたおかげで縁者が足で舞台を踏む音を聞きながら「ああ、確かに能の部隊は音がよく反響するように作られているんだな」とか舞台を三角にひとまわりするのを見て「ああ、今は道行きなんだな」など気づきながら鑑賞できました。
また、普段見ることの出来ないバックヤードツアーもあり絶対お勧めです。

　狂言ラウンジは渋谷の一等地、セルリアンタワーの中にあり、上演前にスパークリングワインなどを楽しむことが出来ます。
そしてあの老舗料亭金田中も入っているので、上演の前にゆっくりお食事もできます。
　今回はお一人様参加でしたが、次回はデートで利用したいと思いました。

I only had a basic understanding of what kyogen is, and I was worried that someone like me, who struggles with the Japanese language, wouldn't enjoy it. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I went; I was amazed by the performance and thoroughly enjoyed the clear, modern explanations.

The explanations of the stage (I was really impressed by the pine tree part) and the way the performers utilized the space, along with their wonderful voices and the contrast in their characters when speaking normally... it was all incredibly captivating. The themes also resonated with contemporary issues, prompting deep reflection.

During the backstage tour, I was astonished to learn that the Noh theater is built in a very authentic style. Although it's located within a hotel, it offers a magnificent, independent world.

I was truly surprised to find such a wonderful place to enjoy traditional performing arts in Shibuya. It was a night that made me want to experience more of our traditions, not just kyogen. I applaud the Okura school for conveying the long history of kyogen in a new form. The audience was stylish, and the atmosphere was lovely!

舞台の説明(松の部分にほんとへえ、、、となりました)や演者さんの場の使い方、素晴らしいお声と普通に話すときのキャラのギャップ・・・魅力満載です。テーマも、現代にも通じて訴えかけるものがあり考えさせられました。
バックヤードツアーでは能楽堂が本格的な造りだと知りびっくりしました。ホテルの中にあるけど立派な独立した世界が広がっています。
渋谷にこんな素敵な伝統芸能を楽しめる場所があるとは本当に驚きです。狂言だけでなくもっと伝統に触れたいなと思わされた夜でした。
ながーい歴史を持つ狂言を新しい形で伝えていこうとされる大藏流に拍手です。集まるお客さんもスタイリッシュな方ばかりで雰囲気も素敵でした☆

We usually watch traditional performing arts, focusing on Kabuki, nearly 30 times a year, but since we don't know much about Kyogen, we immediately decided to participate when we found out about this groundbreaking initiative, the Kyogen Lounge.

The performance was "Soron," which I have seen in Rakugo but was my first time seeing it in Kyogen. Before the stage began, there were explanations to make the plot easier to understand, as well as descriptions of the stage settings and surroundings, which were very informative and gave the impression of being thoughtfully structured.

The content was also easy to approach and interesting, leading to laughter from various parts of the audience, creating a very pleasant atmosphere.

During the backstage tour after the performance, we were able to see parts that are usually not visible, accompanied by explanations. I was moved to learn that each piece of equipment and action has a significant meaning passed down through generations.

Unfortunately, I was unable to enjoy the cuisine from Sukiya Kanetaka, which I had planned to try before the performance (though it required an additional fee), as most of it was sold out. Additionally, the quality of the red wine we received with our tickets was poor, and I hardly drank any of it.

Overall, I had a great time. I would like to see Kyogen again if the opportunity arises.

Please remember to remove your hats inside the Noh theater. It was a bit disappointing to see a few people wearing theirs.

演目は「宗論」で、落語では観ていますが狂言では初めて。舞台が始まる前に、あらすじをわかり易くするための演出があったり、舞台装置や周辺の説明もあったりと為になることが多く、とても考えて構成されている印象を受けました。

内容もとっつきやすく面白いものを選んでいるため、あちこちから笑いが聞こえ、とても和やかに過ごすことができました。

終演後のバックヤードツアーでは、普段見ることが出来ない裏の部分を、説明付きで見ることができました。一つ一つの設備や所作に受け継がれた意味があることに、感動しました。

残念だったのは、開演前に(別途料金必要ですが)愉しむ予定だった数寄屋 金田中のお料理が、ほとんど売り切れていて買えませんでした。また、チケットで頂いた赤ワインの質が悪く殆ど飲まずに残しました。

総じて楽しく過ごせました。
機会があれば狂言もまた観たいと思います。

能楽堂内では帽子を取りましょう。
被ったままの方が数名いたので、マナーの上でも少し残念でした。

狂言が始まる前に、40分くらい「狂言とは何か」という解説があったのですが、これが、笑いっぱなしのユーモアたっぷりの内容でした。狂言＝お笑い、と言ってもいいくらいの楽しさ。面白いだけでなく、舞台の見どころや、役者さんの動き、「ここで拍手をします」といったタイミングなど、初心者には知りたかった情報がたくさん。これがなかったら、本番で困るところでした。

I have always been interested in traditional Japanese culture, such as Kabuki and Kyogen, but since I didn't know the viewing rules well, I hadn't made it out to see a performance until now. However, I was invited by a colleague and thought it was a great opportunity to participate.

The venue was at the Cerulean Tower in Shibuya, and in the lounge, there were drinks and light snacks, allowing us to enjoy a calm atmosphere before the performance.

I had expected the audience to be mostly in their 50s and 60s, but surprisingly, there were many people in their 30s as well, which eased my nerves a bit since there were others from my generation.

Right before the performance, the actors provided a clear explanation of the history of Kyogen, the structure of the stage, and the decorations, which sparked my interest and understanding.

Additionally, since the language used in Kyogen is from ancient Japan and can be difficult to understand, I was given a summary of the story beforehand. This helped me grasp the performance through imagination and memory, making it very enjoyable even as a first-timer.

さらに、狂言で使われる言葉は昔の日本の言葉で理解が難しい為、事前にストーリー概要を教えていただいたので、鑑賞中は想像と記憶で演技については理解でき、初めてでもとても楽しめました。

鑑賞後は舞台裏や楽屋などを案内していただけるチケットだったので、楽屋案内の終了後には狂言に対する理解でき、より興味が持てました。

2ヶ月に一度開催との事なので、次回も見に行きたいと思いました。

今回初めてというバックヤード＝舞台裏ツアーに参加してきました！伝統芸能の舞台裏が間近に観れるということで３０人近くの参加者がいらっしゃって凄いなー、関心高いなーと思いました。狂言や伝統芸能が好きな人は「こういうの待ってました！」のツアーなのかもしれませんね。大藏流のお弟子さんのご案内でいざ、楽屋入口からスタート！能・狂言の舞台の裏側に入れる一般人は希少ですね、他の参加者の皆さんもとてもワクワク顏でした。幕内の上げ下げの機構やタイミングや扉の開け方や締め方まで解説してもらい、その度に「おおおー！」とか「ほおおおーーー！」とか感嘆の声も上がり、短い時間ながら不思議な一体感があり、写真撮影もオッケー！先ほどまで舞台上でお芝居をしていた演者さんも「お疲れ様でしたー」みたいな感じで突然着替えられて出てきたり、特殊な伝統芸能の舞台裏に潜入！した感じで大満足。申し込みが多かったとのことで２回に分けられて後半組でしたが、その間主演の大藏基誠さんと写真撮影したり、待ち時間という感じもあまりなく初めての本格的な伝統芸能「はじめの一歩」に最適、初心者が楽しめるアプローチが盛り沢山でいいです。口コミで拡がってあの男性誌「LEON」に載ったというのもうなづけます。大人の遊び場、着物の遊び場、友人知人も誘いやすいし、海外お客さんを連れて行くのもいいかも！自信を持ってオススメです！

This was my second experience with Kyogen, and thanks to this Kyogen lounge, my perspective on it changed dramatically.

The lounge made excellent use of the short space from the entrance to the Noh theater, allowing us to relax with a drink before the performance. Just when I thought it was time for the show to start, the performers provided a warm and friendly explanation of the Kyogen, which helped us feel very relaxed as the performance began.

The play "Soron" had a relatively easy-to-understand storyline, making it even more enjoyable to watch. After the performance, the lively talk with the performers kept the fun going until the end.

エントランスから能楽堂の入り口までの短い空間を上手く生かしたラウンジで、開演前のひと時を酒を片手に寛ぎながら過ごした後、いざ開演かと思いきや、演者による和やかな雰囲気での狂言の解説があり、とてもリラックスして開演を迎えることが出来ました。

演目の宗論は比較的わかりやすい内容でしたので、なおさら楽しく観劇出来ましたし、演目を終えたあとも演者たちによるトークで盛り上がり、最後まで楽しく過ごすことが出来ました。

こんな狂言なら何度でも見れそうです。

またリピートしたいと思います。

なお、バックヤードツアーも見る価値のあるサービスでした。

総じてお得感満載のイベントで、とても満足した1日でした。

This was my first experience with the traditional Japanese theater, Kyogen. First Kyogen! 初狂言！

What is Kyogen? I didn't really understand the differences between Gagaku, Noh, and Kabuki, but I was invited, so I decided to go.

I was running late with work and managed to arrive about five minutes before the show started! The underground space at Cerulean Tower is very beautiful!

When I arrived, it felt like a party in a stylish atmosphere! I had a drink included, but since I couldn't drink in the theater, I quickly downed my favorite white wine.

First, they explained what Kyogen is in a way that's easy for beginners to understand, including the meaning of the pine tree and the structure of the theater. Of course, since I didn't know anything, I was continuously surprised.

Once it actually started, I honestly couldn't fully understand it due to my lack of imagination, but I really enjoyed the atmosphere! There were efforts everywhere to help people understand Japan's traditional performing arts, and I was never bored!

I also thought this would be a good opportunity to study Japan's history and culture. After the performance, I got to tour the backstage! It seems that only those who reserved through Veltra can enter! Since you can't usually see backstage, if you're interested, I highly recommend it!

まずは初心者でもわかりやすいように、狂言がどういうものか説明してもらえます。松の意味や劇場の仕組み等々。。
もちろん何も知らないので、驚きの連続でした。
実際始まると想像力のない私は正直ちゃんとは理解できませんでしたが、雰囲気はとっても楽しめました٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و
日本の伝統芸能を知ってほしいという工夫がいたるところにされていて、全く飽きなかったです！
私もこれを機会に日本の歴史や文化を勉強したいなって思いました。
公演終了後は舞台裏も見学させてもらいました！
これはベルトラで予約した人だけが入れるようですよ(　ﾟдﾟ)ﾝﾏｯ!
舞台裏なんて到底見れないので興味のある方は是非是非！

I saw Kyogen live for the first time. I had thought it might be interesting after seeing Arashi perform "Mosquito Sumo" on TV, but I never had the opportunity. I assumed it would feel quite formal even though it was described as a fun party atmosphere, but in reality, I was able to enjoy drinks (one drink is included) and snacks (additional charge, a bit pricey) before the performance, and there was a modern and easy-to-understand introduction after we took our seats, which made it very enjoyable. I felt a bit nervous when the performers came on stage, but as the story progressed, it became more like a comedy, and by the end, I was laughing out loud (laughs).

Since I participated with backstage access, I also got to see the behind-the-scenes area, and I think it was a truly valuable experience to see the entrance where the performers come in from the back!

Just two things for those who will make reservations in the future. I thought I could enjoy drinks while watching Kyogen, but food and drinks were only allowed in the space before entering the venue (which makes sense, as it's a sacred event). Also, taking photos is allowed before the performance starts, but not once it begins.

I have made several reservations through Veltra, but this is truly one of the recommended tours! I hope they continue to offer more experiences like this! ^^

初めて狂言を生で見ました。テレビで嵐が「蚊相撲」の蚊を演じているのを見て、おもしろいかもとは思っていましたが、なかなか機会がありませんでした。パーティー感覚で楽しめると言っても結構お堅い感じだろうなと思ったのですが、実際は狂言の前にお酒（1ドリンクは含まれています）やおつまみ（別料金、やや高め）を楽しめて、席についてからもわかりやすく現代的な前説があったりと、とても楽しめました。演者の方が舞台に入ってきたときは少し緊張しましたが、だんだん話がコントっぽくなっていって、最後の方は爆笑でした（笑）

バックヤード付きで参加したので裏側の見学もしましたが、演者の方が舞台に入る入口を裏から見られてほんとうに貴重な体験だったと思います！

2つだけ、今後予約する方のために。狂言を見ながらお酒を楽しめるのかと思っていましたが、飲食できるのは会場に入る手前のスペースでした（そりゃそうですよね、神事ですものね）。あと、狂言が始まる前は写真OKですが、始まってからはNGです。

今までベルトラからいくつか予約していますが、これは本当にオススメなツアーの1つです♪こういうのどんどん取り扱ってほしいです^^

I think it was when I was in elementary or middle school that I saw Kabuki at the Kabukiza Theatre, and I have a memory of not really getting it at all. I was quite anxious about whether I would enjoy it, but my preconceived notions were pleasantly overturned, and I am happy to say that I can finally appreciate a bit of Japan's traditional performing arts.

I probably only understood about half of the dialogue, but before the performance, the actors themselves provided a humorous explanation of the content, which allowed me to enjoy it until the end. I believe such thoughtful efforts will lead to an increase in future fans.

The backstage tour after the performance takes you through both the dressing rooms and behind the stage. Here too, the explanations were entertaining and thorough, making it a very enjoyable experience.

小学生か中学生の頃だったかと思います、歌舞伎座で歌舞伎を見た時は全くピンと来なかった思い出があり、楽しめるかどうか不安が大きかったですが、良い意味で先入観が覆され、ようやく私も少しは日本の伝統芸能を楽しめるようになったかと、嬉しい気持ちです。

I had an interest in traditional Japanese performing arts, but I never had the courage to step in because it seemed so highbrow. With a bit of anxiety, I made my way to the "Noh Theatre" located in the Shibuya Cerulean Tower...

After checking in and entering, I found a lovely lounge with a standing bar and dishes from a long-established restaurant (for a fee). A DJ in a kimono created a stylish atmosphere, and I enjoyed a glass of sparkling wine, feeling pleasantly tipsy as I soaked in the adult ambiance of the place.

After that, I entered the Noh Theatre. With my heart racing, I took my seat, and the curtain finally rose... The performance was "Shuron," which sounded quite difficult, but the talk show (?) by the performers during the pre-show and the direction were structured so well that even first-timers could understand the story. It was truly fascinating! The highbrow image I had of "Kyogen" was completely dispelled!

After the performance, I joined a backstage tour. I was shown the dressing rooms and behind-the-scenes areas that are actually used, which was a very valuable experience. Thank you very much!

演目は「宗論 Shuron」という難しそうなものでしたが
前座での出演者の方のトークショー(?)や演出、
初めてでもストーリーがわかるように上手く構成されていて
本当に面白かったです！
敷居が高かった「狂言」のイメージが払拭されました！

終演後はバックヤードツアーへ。
実際に使われている楽屋や舞台裏を案内していただき
大変貴重な体験となりました。ありがとうございました！

2ヶ月に1度ということなので、次は12月ですかね？
次回は着物なんか着ちゃって粋な雰囲気にどっぷり浸かってみたいです。笑

I was invited by an acquaintance and went to the Kyogen Lounge. At first, I wondered, "Kyogen?" but I was surprised after actually experiencing it! While preserving the beauty of Japan's traditional culture, it was structured in a way that was easy to understand and adapted to modern times.

The atmosphere before the show was different, and I enjoyed drinks elegantly among industry-like people. Once it started, there were plenty of engaging elements to entertain the audience right from the opening remarks! Even though I couldn't understand the words being said, I was moved by how the story was conveyed, and I was able to enjoy it until the end.

Afterward, I participated in a backstage tour, which was a fantastic experience as I got to peek into areas like the backstage and dressing rooms that are usually not visible. The location is also easy to access, so I would love to go again if I have the chance.

知り合いに誘われたのをきっかけに、狂言ラウンジへ行って来ました。
狂言？と最初は思ってましたが、実際に体験してみてビックリ！日本の伝統文化の良さを残しながらも、分かりやすいように現代に合わせた構成にされていました。

開始前のラウンジの雰囲気から違い、業界っぽい人達の中で上品にお酒を楽しめ、開始後は前説から観客を楽しませる仕掛けが盛り沢山！実際に言っている言葉は分からなくても、ストーリーが分かるようになっているのに感動し、最後まで楽しんで見ることが出来ました。

終わった後はバックヤードツアーに参加しましたが、普段では見られない舞台裏や楽屋まで覗けたのは非常に良い経験でした。場所も行きやすいところにあるので、機会があればまた行ってみたいと思います。

I heard from an acquaintance that there was a new style of kyogen, so I decided to check it out. For me, the image of Noh and kyogen has always felt heavy, which made it hard for me to attend, but this time it pleasantly exceeded my expectations.

First, I checked in and chose a complimentary drink (I went for wine) in the lounge. While enjoying some delicious food (which was paid), I soaked in the atmosphere standing up.

What surprised me here was... the customers were just so stylish. I thought most attendees would be in their 50s and 60s since it was kyogen, but there were actually quite a few fashionable and wonderful people in their 20s to 40s. Even the older attendees were all charming in their own way.

Then we entered the Noh theater. The opening act featured actors who energized the atmosphere, and they humorously and clearly explained and performed "kyogen," interacting with Motoharu Okura. I was able to hear some trivia as well. The performance length was just right—not too short and not too long.

I am truly grateful that the Okura school, which uniquely conveys the essence of sarugaku, has created such an innovative and casual production. I would like to invite another friend to join me next time.

ここで驚いたのが、、、とにかくお客さんがイケてるのです。
狂言だから50代60代の方がほとんどかと思ってたのですが
20代~40代のオシャレで素敵な雰囲気の方々がかなり多い印象です。
年配の方でもどことなく素敵な方々ばかり。

そして能楽堂内へ。
前座では役者が場を盛り上げ、大藏基誠氏とも絡みながら「狂言」を面白おかしく、
そして解りやすく説明し、演出してくれます。
いくつかのトリビアも聞くことが出来ました。
公演の時間も短すぎず長すぎず調度よい感じです。

猿楽本流の狂言を唯一伝える大藏流が、
こんなに斬新でフランクな演出を創造してくれたことに本当に感謝です。
次回は別の友人を誘って参加してみたいと思います。
