This tour efficiently takes you around Sapporo for the last half day by bus! The view from the ski jump was great, and the Shiroi Koibito Park was fun. After finishing lunch at the outer market, we got off in front of the station in the afternoon and headed to New Chitose Airport by train. The earphone guide's commentary was also interesting.

I prepared myself for a tough tour that involved walking for 80 minutes straight. The limestone cave, formed from coral, is said to have alkaline and calcium components that do not dissolve human bones. Because of this, the bones of a male from the Port of Nakagawa, dating back tens of thousands of years, were found in a face-down position. During the tour, it felt like being in another world, and it was truly mystical. Additionally, our guide, Mr. Kaneshiro, was very skilled in storytelling, making the 80 minutes fly by. I'm really glad I participated in this tour.

珊瑚から出来たアルカリ性とカルシウムの成分の鍾乳洞は、人骨を溶かさないそう。
そのため、何万年前？の港川人の男性がうつ伏せになっている状態の骨がみつかったとの事。ツアー中は、別世界にいるようで、とても神秘的でした。また、ガイドの金城さんのお話も上手で、あっという間の80分間でした。このツアーに参加して本当に良かったです。

I was able to enjoy Sapporo city even on a half-day tour. Since it was a morning tour on the day of my departure, I bought plenty of souvenirs at a low price from the outer market and had them shipped. I was able to negotiate a lower price at Kitano Gyoba No. 3.

I went on my first whale watching tour last February. This time, I used this tour company for my second trip on March 4th. However, it's incredibly beautiful, and the craftsmanship of handmade items is truly impressive.
The photo spot with the name of the place at the entrance gets very crowded. Since there's a similar setup inside, it's better to take photos there.
It depends on the crowd situation, but if you're on a tour and waiting in line for the event where you can walk through the tunnel, you might not make it in time for the meeting.

The bus tour guide shared the history of Sapporo, making the ride enjoyable. We also saw a lot of wild deer. When we arrived, the weather was nice, and the lake in front of us was beautiful. The Sefa Utaki and the Gangala Valley were great. However, there was very little explanation from the tour guide, which made it difficult to understand during the gathering times. I think it would have been better to have a bit more overall explanation and details about the places we were going to visit.
斎場御嶽 ガンガラーの谷は良かったです。添乗員さんの説明がほとんどなく 集合の時などわかりにくかったです。もう少し全体の説明や どんな所に行くなど説明があった方が良かったと思います。

I had heard beforehand that we might see a jump once for every ten attempts, so I gave up and was busy filming the baby whale's tail slap when suddenly it jumped out from the back, causing everyone to go wild (laughs).
It miraculously jumped right when I had my phone ready, and I was able to capture its jumping姿.

事前にジャンプは10回きたら1回見られるかなとお話しされてたので、諦めて子クジラのテールスラップを撮影してたら奥からドーンと飛び出してきてみんなで大騒ぎになりました（笑）

I went to see the ski jump at Okurayama, but the lift was under maintenance, so I couldn't ride it. There weren't many other tourist spots, so I wish I could have experienced that. The outer market had a lot of shops, which surprised me. Since it was the last day, I opted for a half-day of sightseeing, but I think this kind of sightseeing can be nice too.

On February 13th, I participated in the Ice Sculpture Festival tour. The ice sculptures made from the water of Lake Shikotsu, known as Shikotsu Blue, were all beautifully blue! The ice wall and big mountain were both stunning and impressive, and the illuminated view from the observation deck was very magical and lovely!
2月13日、氷濤まつりのツアーに参加しました。支笏湖ブルーといわれる支笏湖の水で作られている氷の像は、青くどれも綺麗でした！アイスウォールやビッグマウンテンなどは、美しくも迫力があり、また展望台からのライトアップされた眺めはとても幻想的で素敵でした！

We arrived in about 90 minutes without any noticeable traffic. I was worried about how cold it would be, but the temperature was relatively high that day, so it wasn't too cold. Numerous ice sculptures were illuminated in various colors, creating a fantastical atmosphere, and the occasional falling snow added to the romantic ambiance.
The moss cave and observation deck always had long lines, so I think it's best to aim for times when there are fewer people.
The viewing time is 70 minutes from the bus's arrival, but unfortunately, it felt a bit rushed as we had to keep an eye on the time. About 90 minutes might be just right. The return trip was smooth, and we arrived at Sapporo Station a little earlier, where we then dispersed.

I was a bit anxious before the whale watching experience, but once on board, the staff were very accommodating, and I had a great time. I participated with determination despite the severe cold wave, but unexpectedly, the weather was favorable. I was able to enjoy the sunset over Lake Shikotsu and the Ice Festival before and after the lights were turned on. I also got to experience roasting marshmallows, which became a fun memory.
It was a tour that included a postcard gift, but the gift turned out to be a sample of Hi-Chew. I wonder if they forgot or if the postcards weren't popular? (laughs) The guide was a wonderful young lady, and I felt so confident in her recommendations that I ended up buying all the suggested souvenirs.

The tour departed fully booked with two buses, and the tour guide provided explanations in both Japanese and English alternately. There were fewer foreign participants than expected, estimated to be around 20-30%. The one-way trip took an hour and a half, and the atmosphere on the bus was quiet, allowing for a relaxed experience. Lake Shikotsu was quite cold with a chilly wind, significantly colder than Sapporo, and I managed to cope by using a heat pack. The objects frozen by spraying lake water with a sprinkler were illuminated, creating a fantastical scene, and my wife remarked that she was more moved by this than by the Snow Festival. On the way back, we arrived 20 minutes earlier than scheduled, possibly due to lighter traffic.

First and foremost, I felt reassured. They safely took us from Sapporo to the frozen snowy roads of Lake Shikotsu. It was a mountain path that I definitely couldn't have navigated on my own. Then, when I suddenly saw the vast Lake Shikotsu, it was breathtaking. While feeling the cold wind from Lake Shikotsu, a world of ice awaited us. The ice mountains, caves, and ice pillars, along with beautifully lit sculptures, were truly moving. It became a wonderful page in my Hokkaido travel experience. Thank you very much.

I felt安心 knowing there was a tour guide with us. The local winds were stronger than I imagined, but it wasn't too bad once we left the lake. I wanted to visit the souvenir shops lined up in the woods, but with only an hour and a half to stay, I barely had time for sightseeing and a restroom break. I thought it was a shame that we couldn't depart at 1 or 2 PM instead of 3 PM, as we could have enjoyed some tea and bought souvenirs then. I really appreciated the help since I couldn't have driven there myself. Thank you for the wonderful plan. If there’s a tour for Lake Toya, I would love to join!

We gathered at the meeting point, which was the tourist bus parking lot under the GOGODAY flag. However, when we arrived, almost all the tour buses had the GOGODAY flag displayed, and we searched for our bus but couldn't find it. While we were standing there, a foreign guide called out to us, and we thought we could finally board, but it turned out that the bus wasn't parked in the lot. Instead, we had to walk about 200 meters to a convenience store parking lot, where we found not a bus, but a 10-seater HiAce wagon. We ended up being exactly 10 passengers, but as expected, the interior was so cramped that we couldn't move. During the ride to the first destination, the uncomfortable vehicle made me feel unwell, and I decided I couldn't take it anymore, so I canceled the tour. After that, I returned to Kyoto Station using public transportation.

I wasn't confident about driving in Sapporo during winter, and taking public transportation seemed challenging, so I decided to sign up for a bus tour. The meeting point was close to Sapporo Station and easy to find.
As for the Ice Festival, it was wonderful. I was able to enjoy both the twilight before sunset and the illumination afterwards. Since it was a holiday on the first day of the festival, it was extremely crowded, and it took a while to get into the parking lot, with long lines inside the venue as well, but I had a great time!
I also recommend that if you have extra time, you can return to the bus early.
冬の札幌で車を運転する自信もなく、かといって公共交通機関で行くのも大変そうなので、バスツアーに申し込んでみました。
待ち合わせ場所は札幌駅から近く、分かりやすかったです。
肝心の氷濤まつりですが、素晴らしいかったです。
陽が沈み切る前の夕暮れ時について、ライトアップ前と後の両方を楽しめました。

時間が余った時は、早めにバスに戻る事も可能との事でおすすめです。

The ice sculptures were very beautiful and enjoyable! In addition to the stunning ice sculptures, there were observation decks to climb, a corner where you could roast marshmallows inside the ice structures, and a corner that resembled an ice café. I thought it was a unique experience that can only be had during this season. I was worried about the cold, but I didn't feel it too much, perhaps because I was dressed warmly. It might also have been thanks to the lack of wind. However, it was disappointing that there were too many people on the first Saturday of the event, so I couldn't fully enjoy it. There were long lines, and due to the scheduled meeting times, there were some monuments we couldn't enter. For those who want to see everything thoroughly, I think there wasn't enough time. Because it was crowded, there was a waiting time while the guide arranged the tickets, and I felt that time was wasted.
氷像がとても綺麗で楽しめました！綺麗な氷像の他、登って楽しめる展望台や、氷の建造物の中でマシュマロを焼けるコーナーや氷のカフェのようなコーナーもあり、この季節にしかできないユニークな体験だと思いました。心配していた寒さも着込んでいたせいか然程感じませんでした。風があんまりなかったおかげかもしれません。ただ、開催初日の土曜日ということで人が多すぎてじっくり楽しめなかったのが残念です。長蛇の列ができており、集合時間の関係で中に入れないモニュメントもありました。全てをしっかり見て回りたい人にとっては時間が足りないと思います。混雑していたせいでガイドさんがチケットを手配する間に待ち時間が発生していたのでその時間がもったいなかったなと感じました。

I never knew there were so many mystical places in Okinawa. With only half a day left, I found a tour that offered new discoveries in Okinawa.
