During my trip to Kanazawa, I joined a tour with a friend who lives there. Since it would have been a big burden for my friend to drive, we opted for a bus tour. Thanks to that, we were able to relax and chat comfortably on the bus, and take naps when we got tired. The guide shared local information, recommended sightseeing spots, and souvenirs, allowing us to enjoy a picnic-like experience that we wouldn't have had with a rental car. We were blessed with good weather, and my friend was happy, making it a wonderful travel memory.

I participated in this tour recommended by a friend.
First of all, I was impressed that the seats on the bus were properly assigned.
The time management was just right, and the departure and arrival times were very accurate. The guide and the driver had a great atmosphere, and I highly recommend this experience in Takayama and Shirakawa-go.

Even after arriving at the meeting point for the tour I signed up for, there was no one with a tour flag, and when the meeting time came, ultimately no one showed up. The other people who had signed up for the same tour were also worried and troubled as time passed without anyone arriving. When I called, it went to voicemail and I couldn't get through, and even though I wanted a refund, I couldn't reach anyone despite trying multiple times. This was my first experience with such a company, and it completely disrupted my travel plans, leading to a very difficult situation.

当日ツアーに申し込んで待ち合わせの集合場所に着いても、ツアーの旗らしき方もいなく集合時間になっても結局誰も来なかったです。
同じツアーを申し込みしてた方たちも時間が過ぎても来なく不安になって困ってました。
電話をしても留守電になって繋がらないし、返金してもらいたくても電話も留守電だから何度かけてもだめでした。
こんな会社は初めてでせっかくの旅行も予定が狂って大変な思いになりました。

Shirakawa-go in the rain
On the bus ride there, the guide provided helpful advice, allowing us to explore Shirakawa-go efficiently.
Even before arriving at Shirakawa-go, we enjoyed hearing stories about the areas we passed through.
Both the guide and the driver were very pleasant.
There were many participants from Europe and America, and the explanations were given in Japanese and then in English, which was enjoyable as well.

The time allocation between Shirakawa-go and Takayama was also well managed.

It was great to enjoy both Takayama and Shirakawa-go in one day. I signed up for a Japanese tour, but it was primarily made up of Chinese participants, and I was confused by the limited explanations from the guide.

I was told that taking the shuttle bus to the observation deck in Shirakawa-go would be quicker, but when we arrived at the shuttle bus stop, there were no buses at the time we went, which caused a loss of time. It was a shame to waste time with only two hours of free time.

Also, the color of the flag at the meeting point was shown as white in the photo sent to us, but it was actually brown. Since most of the participants were foreigners, we didn't realize it was our tour at first. I would have appreciated a heads-up about the multinational nature of the tour in advance.

１日で飛騨高山と白川郷を楽しめたのはとても良かったです。
日本語ツアーを申し込んだのですが、中国人中心のツアーでガイドさんの説明が少なくて戸惑いました。

白川郷でシャトルバスで展望台まで行くと早いと言われてシャトルバス乗り場に行ったら私達の行った時間はシャトルバスがなく時間のロスでした。
自由時間が2時間しかない中でのロスはもったいなかったです。

あと集合場所の旗の色が送られてきた写真では白だったのに茶色でした。外国の方がほとんどだったので自分たちのツアーだとは最初わかりませんでした。多国籍ツアーなら事前に知らせてほしかったです。

The tour guide was humorous and enjoyable!! We also had a delicious lunch in Shirakawa-go! Gokayama was very quiet... but I don't think I could move there. The washi paper-making experience was great! I had a rich day of travel.

It started pouring rain in the morning, but by the time I got on the bus, it cleared up, and when I arrived, it was like a blessing from the heavens. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, the food was delicious, and I met wonderful people. I was guided by kind locals in Kanazawa, coming from Hokkaido, and it was an impeccable experience. I was also overwhelmed by the many tourists from abroad. Japan is truly amazing!

桜が丁度満開、食事も美味しくて、良い人にも出会えたし、北海道から来て金沢も優しい人に案内されて、申し分のない時間でした。

Many foreign passengers were on board, and explanations were provided in English simultaneously. This was quite normal, but I think the use of humor made it much easier for foreign guests to understand. Additionally, not only the places we visited, such as Shirakawa-go and Takayama, but also the scenery, buildings, and culture along the way were explained in detail, making it a very meaningful trip.

I reserved a designated seat and went to the bus center to confirm, only to find out that this reservation was only for a bus with unreserved seats. I had to wait in line for 30 minutes to board. As an elderly person, I thought I had secured a designated seat, so I was quite disheartened.

A trip with my elderly mother. We usually enjoy freedom and spontaneity, so initially, we thought about taking a highway bus from Kanazawa Station to Shirakawa-go on our own. However, we decided to join this tour because it allows us to visit both Shirakawa-go and Gokayama in one day. It was the right choice. Having the tour guide manage the time made it easy for us, and during the ride to our destination, we learned about the route we were taking, local specialties, recommended spots in Shirakawa-go, and interesting facts about the history of Gokayama. As others have mentioned, the guide was a Chinese woman. Even after the meeting time had passed, there was no explanation, and we finally moved to the bus about 15 minutes later. Inside the bus, she provided a brief explanation using a tablet. Since I had brought a guidebook, she explained using that map. This tour did not include meals, so it was nice to have the freedom to eat at Takayama Ramen (near the bus stop) and use our time freely. It was snowing in Shirakawa-go, which added to the charm. I was able to enjoy my two hours of free time by buying water pudding as a souvenir and visiting Wada House.

It was mostly a bus tour, so we were able to depart and arrive on time, and I enjoyed it without any issues. However, the dryness on the bus was severe, and my throat started to hurt. I was wearing a mask, but it was still quite dry, so I wished there was a way to improve that.

Since I came to Japan for sightseeing from Colombia, I definitely wanted to experience a World Heritage site, so I participated. There were many Asian tourists, and I was one of the few Japanese people there. Shirakawa-go is indeed very popular in the Asian region! My friend had only seen snow a few times, so they were amazed by the climate and scenery. Although most of the thatched roofs were nearly free of snow, it was snowing on the day of our visit, and it was quite cold. Some people were dressed in a way that looked cold, so I felt like I was shivering every time we passed by each other. There were also areas where the snow had melted and the ground was muddy, so I think it's better to wear waterproof and comfortable shoes.

The free time at both spots was two hours, which was just the right amount of time for sightseeing, eating, and shopping. Everyone kept to the schedule, and I think the event went smoothly. The staff were kind and provided explanations in Japanese, English, and Chinese, and they distributed pamphlets, which was very thoughtful.

コロンビアから日本に観光しに来てくれたので、ぜひ世界遺産をと思い、参加しました。アジア系の観光客が多く、日本人は私くらいでした。さすがアジア圏に大人気な白川郷ですね！！友人は雪を数えるほどしか見たことがなかったため気候、風景全てに感動していました。合掌造りの屋根はほぼ雪が溶けていましたが、当日は雪が降っておりかなり寒かったです。寒そうな格好をしている方もいたので、すれ違うたびにこちらが震えそうでした。雪が溶けて、土が沼っているところもあったので、防水であったり、動きやすい靴の方がいいと思います。
自由時間は両スポットとも2時間で観光+食べ歩き+買い物でちょうどいい時間でした。皆さん時間も守っており、スムーズに催行されたと思います。スタッフの方は優しく、日本語、英語、中国語で説明しており、パンフレットを配布したりなど親身で良かったです。

I went on a sightseeing trip to the snowy Shirakawa-go for the first time. Since public transportation is inconvenient for one person, I signed up for a day trip bus tour from Nagoya. It was through Veltra, and it seemed to be a tour aimed at inbound customers, as I was the only Japanese person on the bus along with the driver (the rest were from China, Hong Kong, and South Korea). I felt a bit lonely before departure, but the tour guide (from China) was very considerate towards me, so I was able to enjoy the sightseeing with peace of mind. It was a lot of fun. It was a good tour.
However, the meeting point was shared with various tour companies, which made it very confusing.
The tour company name listed in the itinerary sent by email was different from the one on the flag held by the guide, and the guide only had a guest list and a flag, without a large sign indicating the destination.
Although the weather was not favorable, Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go were very nice.

お天気には恵まれませんでしたが、飛騨高山と白川郷はとてもよかったです。
バス内のガイドさんの案内は丁寧でわかりやすかったです。
参加しているお客さんも、だれもバスの集合時間に遅れることなくスムーズでした。

It was my first time in Shirakawa-go, so participating in a guided tour made me feel very secure. The time spent until our arrival was also informative thanks to the guide, and I had a great time.

However, both Shirakawa-go and Gokayama had longer stay times, which left us with some extra time on our hands. I felt that arriving at Kanazawa Station around 3:30 PM would have been better. This is just our personal impression, and I apologize for that. Other than that, it was an excellent tour that I would recommend to everyone. I had a somewhat suspicious feeling and no expectations. However, to my surprise, I received a proper greeting at the meeting point, and I felt relieved to board the bus. The tour guide and the driver were Japanese, and the interpreter was from Portugal. Over 60% of the participants were foreigners, and the interpreter provided guidance in English, so everything went smoothly without any delays. When we arrived in Shirakawa-go, the snow started to fall heavily, and it was truly the snowy Shirakawa-go. I could never have driven in such snow by myself, and I'm really glad I signed up for this tour!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the tour guide from White Ring for the enjoyable guidance, the driver for their safe driving, and the interpreter for translating the tour guide's instructions into English. I highly recommend this tour for beginners!

Last time we visited, there were only domestic travelers, but this time, apart from us, there were mostly international visitors. It might have been influenced by the fact that it was right after the earthquake. However, it was enjoyable to experience a foreign atmosphere. Lunch spots were crowded everywhere, and individuals had to wait in line, but it was really great that our tour included meals. The highlights that could have been confusing were explained by our guide, which was fantastic. The Shirakawa-go bus terminal on Saturday was packed with tourists, and it seemed like buying bus tickets would be quite a challenge. I felt that coming on a tour was definitely the right choice!

昼食はどこも混雑していて、個人で来られた方は行列ができてましたが、ツアーに食事がついているのでほんと良かったです。
迷ってしまいそうな見どころも、ガイドさんから教えていただき最高でした。
土曜日の白川郷のバスターミナルは観光客でいっぱいで、バスチケット買うのも大変そうに思えました。
ツアーで来たのは正解だったな！っと思いました。

The tour guide was very good at speaking and didn't waste any time with unnecessary talk. There was a foreign language interpreter. The driver was friendly, which made me feel safe getting on the bus.
