I went on a night tour to explore subtropical plants and animals and to observe the starry sky. Initially, we thought about finding a place on our own, but joining the tour was definitely the right choice. Exploring the dark mountain paths with only a flashlight to search for subtropical plants and animals was quite challenging.
We successfully found a coconut crab, and we received explanations about geckos, spiders, and various subtropical plants, which increased our knowledge and made for a fun experience. The starry sky coincided with the best supermoon of 2022; although we couldn't see the Milky Way, we were treated to a view of the moonlight sparkling on the water's surface, a sight that could only be seen on this day. Thank you for your assistance with photography and everything else.
夜の亜熱帯動植物探しと星空見学に行って来ました。もともと自分たちで場所を探して行ってみようかと思っていましたが、ツアーに参加して大正解でした。真っ暗な山道を懐中電灯だけで探検し、亜熱帯動植物を探すのは難しいと思いました。
ヤシガニも無事見つかり、ヤモリ、クモ、亜熱帯植物も色々解説して頂き知識も増えて楽しい体験ができました。星空は、2022年で最高のスーパームーンと重なり、天の川を見ることは出来ませんでしたが、代わりに月夜が水面にキラキラする、この日にしか見れない景色が見れました。写真撮影等、お世話になりました。ありがとうございました。

I wanted my 3-year-old child to experience nature, so we participated in a tour that went late into the night. I was a bit anxious since I brought another child along, but all the staff were very attentive, and my child had a truly valuable experience.
We wanted to see coconut crabs and frogs, but it had been a few days with little rain, which lowered our chances of encountering them. However, the staff worked hard to find them, and we were able to see them safely.
We also saw several habu snakes and witnessed cicadas emerging, which made my child very excited. I truly felt that coming to Ishigaki Island was a wonderful experience. I would love to participate again when my child grows up.
3歳の子供に自然の体験をさせたいと思い夜遅くまでのツアーでしたが参加させて頂きました。
もう一人子供も連れてなので不安な面もありましたが、スタッフさん皆さんが気にかけてくださりとても貴重な体験を子どもが経験できました。
ヤシガニやカエルが見たかったのですが、ここ数日雨も少なく遭遇できる確率も低いとのことでしたがスタッフのみなさんが必死に探してくれて無事に見ることができました。
他にもハブも何匹か見たりセミの羽化が見れたりと子どもも大はしゃぎ。石垣島にきてほんとによかったと思える体験ができました。
子どもが成長したらまた参加したいです。

Thank you for kindly accommodating us despite the same-day reservation. We were able to see many creatures in the forest that we wouldn't have been able to enter on our own. Just beyond the forest, we discovered a quiet sandy beach with no footprints! It was pitch dark, but it felt special, and I'm glad I participated in this tour. We also had plenty of time to enjoy the starry sky, which left us very satisfied.

I was able to explore while listening to explanations from someone knowledgeable about insects and plants! I was able to spot about three coconut crabs, so I think there's a high chance of encountering them. The starry sky was also filled with information, as they taught us about the constellations, making the time fly by. The staff were very approachable as well. I participated in a dress, but this time I didn't get bitten by any insects. The walking path was a paved stone path, so sandals were fine.

However, on the night of the tour, it seemed that communication between the local staff and the office staff was not going well. Initially, I was told there would be five participants, but it ended up being 14, and there weren't enough lights. Due to the rain in the evening, the stargazing tour was canceled. The night tour for wildlife observation also had to turn back midway because the trail was muddy. I was able to catch a glimpse of the coconut crab in the crevices of the rocks. Since it's wild/nature, I understand that it's not guaranteed. However, I felt it would have been nice to have some explanations with photos for those who might not see them. During the stargazing, there wasn't much explanation about the visible stars, just comments like "It's beautiful," so I think having a knowledgeable guide would have increased satisfaction.
The light provided was weak and not very useful, which was disappointing. I think it should be checked in advance. Since we paid nearly 5,000 yen, I hoped for a tour that offered more than just luck in spotting wildlife.

I was able to see coconut crabs, hermit crabs, stick insects, bats, land crabs, frogs, wild boars, and more.
Although I couldn't see their faces as they were sleeping and completely still, I was able to see a Ryukyu Scops Owl at a very close distance. It seemed to be a very rare case, and it became a wonderful experience.

I had previously participated in a stargazing tour in Ishigaki, where I was able to see an unbelievable number of stars, which left me deeply moved. That's why I signed up for this tour as well.
However, on the day of the tour, it was quite cloudy, and I was anxious about whether we would be able to see anything. With the full moon approaching, it illuminated the night sky so brightly that only a few stars were visible. I had hoped that as we ventured further, we might see more stars, but it was actually more disappointing than looking up at the night sky in the city, where you can see more stars. I was very disappointed. The tour guide mentioned that it was lucky we were able to operate today since it had been raining until the day before, but for those of us who were looking forward to the starry sky, it felt like we were just cruising without seeing any stars at all, which was not enjoyable at all.
I also felt that they must have known about the moon's condition, so I honestly wished they had explained the situation before we departed. The shamisen performance was not something I could call good either.
Next time, I think I will pay more attention to the timing and conditions before participating.
以前も石垣で星空を見るツアーに参加したことがありその際は信じられないほどの星を見ることが出来感動した為今回もツアーを申し込みました。
今回のツアーの当日はかなり曇りで見えるのか不安な中での出発となりましたが、満月が近い為月が煌々と夜空を照らしており、星数はまばらに見えるだけ。。奥まで進めば少しは見えるのかと期待しましたが都内で見上げる夜空の方が星が見えるんじゃないかという状況で非常にがっかりしました。前日まで雨で運航が出来なかったからでしょうか、今日運航出来たのはラッキーですと添乗員さんに言われましたが、星空を期待していたこちらとしては星空が全く見えない中ただクルージングしている状況でしたので、全然楽しくなかったです。月の状態も絶対わかっていたはずなので、出発前に状況を説明して頂きたかったというのが本音でした。
三味線もお世辞にも上手と言えませんでした。。
次回は参加する時期など参加する側もしっかり見て参加しようと思います。

I had a great experience with PiPi on Iriomote Island, so I participated in a night tour on Miyako Island as well. We were able to find a large coconut crab, and my son was thrilled. The guide not only showed us what to look for but also encouraged the kids to search for themselves, which seemed to spark their sense of adventure.
One thing I was a bit disappointed about was that we didn't receive any commemorative photos or pictures of the coconut crab. When we were on Iriomote Island, we had some wonderful photos taken, so I assumed we would have the same this time. I guess it varies by guide. I would have been happy to receive photos of the creatures we saw as well.
Other than that, it was a very satisfying tour. I would love to join again if the opportunity arises. By the way, the photo is from the last time on Iriomote Island. This is what we were able to see.

一つ残念だったのは、記念写真やヤシガニの写真等いただけなかったことです。西表島の時は写真を撮っていただいたのがとてもよい記念になりましたので、今回も撮っていただけるものと思い込んでしまいましたが、ガイドさんによってちがうのでしょうか。見た生き物の写真もいただければ嬉しかったです。
それ以外は大満足なツアーでした。また機会があればお願いしたいと思います。
ちなみに、写真は前回西表島でいただいた写真です。イメージとしてはこんな感じで見れました。

Once I arrived, I was surprised to see fireflies, snakes, large crabs, and hermit crabs in their natural state! I even saw a habu curled up, which made me realize how these creatures live. I enjoyed a world that is unimaginable in everyday life! After passing through the jungle, I was moved by the ocean and the starry sky that spread out before me! I didn't realize we had arrived, and then we started the dark tour by turning the car around in a narrow passageway. I was taken down a path that made me think, "Are we really going this way?!" and right from the start, I got to see a coconut crab.
After that, we discovered various sizes of coconut crabs, and it was a continuous cycle of touching them and being surprised. We also found many other creatures. Although the starry sky was faint due to the clouds, we strolled along the beach, and honestly, it was more fun than I expected.

On the day of the shoot, there were many clouds, but we persevered until they moved, and I was able to take some really wonderful photos. Additionally, the waiting time while the clouds shifted was enjoyable as I got to hear various interesting stories. If you have any requests for poses, you can shoot in your preferred style, so I think it's a good idea to consider any requests in advance. The shooting location was at a golf course, and the parking area was a bit hard to find, but if you're unsure, you can call the staff, and they will kindly guide you. Also, since the shoot took place in a completely dark area without streetlights, it was convenient to bring a flashlight or something similar.
I highly recommend this tour.
