I was looking forward to stargazing. On the day, I was happy that the weather was perfect, but when the staff who came to pick us up arrived, they first mentioned that due to the full moon, it would be difficult to see the stars, and that cancellation was possible. I was grateful that they came to pick me up at the hotel. After driving for a while from the city, we took a dark road with no people. Once we passed through a narrow jungle path, we arrived at the local exploration site! We searched for wildlife along the rocky coastline. Unlike during the day, the tranquility and the sound of the waves were pleasant. Then, we discovered a coconut crab! Its purple shell was mysterious! After exploring the coast, we moved to a spot for stargazing. Although the moonlight was a bit bright, the sky was filled with stars welcoming us. Fortunately, we even saw a shooting star. I was able to spend a happy time.

I thoroughly enjoyed the night in Ishigaki Island. We set off at 8 PM and ran through the darkness, which felt mysterious. The atmosphere along the coastline at night was different from during the day, and we encountered a coconut crab and a hermit crab that can only be seen at night. After that, we went to an observatory with a great view, where the moonlight was a bit bright, but the starry sky was magnificent. My husband and daughter were thrilled to see shooting stars. Listening to the sound of owls, the night view was beautiful as well.

When it comes to Iriomote Island, it's all about the jungle. I joined the tour hoping to encounter the Iriomote wildcat. And guess what? I actually saw one! They say you might only see it once in a hundred times, but I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse! It was just for a moment, but its stocky body shape is clearly different from an ordinary cat.

It was a wonderful night. I have never seen such a beautiful starry sky before, to the point where I couldn't even tell which constellations were which. Without the guide's laser pointer, I don't think I would have understood. It was even more beautiful and moving than the starry sky I saw in Hawaii a few years ago. This is a tour that both adults and children can enjoy! The kids were super excited about the creatures and plants we encountered, and the guide was entertaining, which made it very satisfying! I had traveled to Ishigaki before, but unfortunately, it was cloudy that time, and I couldn't see the stars at all. So, this time, I participated to make up for that. On the day of the tour, the clouds cleared beautifully, and I was able to experience an extraordinary starry sky that made me realize, "So this is what the night sky looks like in a southern island!" I also understood that the visibility of stars differs greatly between the town center and the outskirts of Ishigaki. If you come to Ishigaki and the weather looks good at night, I definitely recommend going to see the stars!

また、石垣でも町中と町外れで全然星の見え方が違ってくるということもよく分かりました。

Later, I learned that for lunch, we were taken care of by a sister store on Iriomote Island, and for dinner, we were at the Ishigaki Island location.
I was hesitant to participate due to the unfortunate cloudy weather, but since it was said that there were other attractions besides the starry sky, I thought I might as well join since I had some free time.
The staff member in charge was reassuring, saying, "I can't guarantee we'll see the stars, but if it looks promising, we'll move to the best spot right away and adapt!" Near the end of the tour, there was a moment when the clouds parted, and I was able to enjoy the Milky Way!
The starry sky was, of course, wonderful, but what impressed me the most was the dedication of the staff!

生憎の曇り空で参加するか迷ったのですが、星空以外も見所があるとの触れ込みだったので、どうせ暇になるぐらいならと参加してみました。
担当していただいたスタッフさんは「星空が観れるか分かりませんが、見れそうならすぐにポイントへ移動して臨機応変にやります！」と心強く、ツアー終了間近で雲が切れる瞬間があり、天の川を堪能できました！

I joined a tour because I really wanted to see the starry sky on Iriomote Island. I had heard that the weather forecast on the island was unreliable, so I was worried about whether we would actually be able to see the stars. However, on the night of the tour, the clouds cleared astonishingly, and we were able to see a truly star-filled sky. The location we were taken to was also amazing, allowing us to enjoy a 360° view, like a natural planetarium. This is definitely a recommended tour that will leave you in awe.

I participated in the night tour. Originally, I had planned for a jungle tour and stargazing, but I received a message from the guide before the tour, saying that due to the weather, we might not be able to see the stars. Instead, we ended up visiting two locations on the jungle tour. Although I couldn't see the stars I was looking forward to, I was able to see many creatures from Iriomote Island that you wouldn't typically see in the city, which was actually a nice surprise.
I was particularly worried about whether I would actually see the coconut crabs I had seen in the brochure, but as we entered the destination, several of them appeared up close, and I was overwhelmed by their impressive presence. The guide's stories were also interesting, making for a truly refreshing experience throughout the night.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to have an extraordinary experience in the night jungle of Iriomote Island, not just for those who love creatures.
ナイトツアーに参加しました。
もともとジャングルツアーと星空観察の予定だったのですが、ツアー前にガイドの方から連絡があり、天候的に星空は見えないかも知れないとのことでジャングルツアーで2箇所を回ることになりました。
楽しみにしていた星は見られなかったのですが、代わりに都会ではまず見られない西表島の生き物をたくさん見れて、逆に良かったです。
特に、パンフレットで見たヤシガニが本当に出てくるか心配だったのですが、目的地に入って行くと何匹も間近に現れ、想像以上の迫力に圧倒されました。
ガイドの方のお話も面白く、本当に新鮮な体験の連続の一晩でした。
生き物好きの人に限らず、西表島の夜のジャングルで非日常的な体験をしてみたい人みんなにぜひオススメのツアーです。

Driving through the countryside without streetlights from the bustling city, we explored the habitats of various creatures. On the coast, we spotted coconut crabs, and in Banna Park, birds like bats and owls were resting. The sounds of hermit crabs moving and retreating into their shells were enchanting. Watching the bats leap from tree to tree and listening to the hoots of the owls touched my heart. Looking up at the starry sky, I saw shooting stars and truly felt that I was glad to be here! Our guide worked hard to ensure we enjoyed our limited time to the fullest.

I joined the tour hoping to see the Iriomote cat, even though I wasn't expecting much. I was happy when our guide, Mr. Koiwa, said he would do his best to find it, even though it would be tough! When we went to a jungle-like area, there was a single coconut crab at the water spot, and I took a lot of pictures! On the way to the stargazing point, the guide found an owl and took us close to it; it was super cute! The stargazing point had no clouds, so I felt lucky to see three shooting stars! Unfortunately, I didn't see the Iriomote cat, but I got to see many other creatures, so it became a great memory!

ガイドの古岩さんが、厳しいけど頑張って探してみますと言ってくれて、嬉しかったです！
ジャングルのようなところに行くと、水場に一匹だけヤシガニがいたので、写真を取りまくってました！
星空ポイントに向かう途中ガイドさんがフクロウを見つけて近くまで案内してくれてめっちゃかわいかったです！
星空ポイントは雲がなかったので、流れ星を3個見れたのでラッキーな気分になれました！

It was unfortunate that we couldn't see the stars due to the cloudy sky, but our guide took us to various places to make up for it, and we had a great time. We were able to see coconut crabs, large hermit crabs, and even a rare owl, which made the children very happy. Thank you!

Walking through the jungle at night in the warm tropical climate, the starry sky viewed from the sandy beach was breathtaking. The service was incredibly attentive, and they took care of us, who were not used to traveling to remote islands, allowing us to comfortably experience nature exploration in the pitch darkness of Iriomote Island. The passage of time felt special, and I was captivated by the island's charm that made me forget the city. When we moved to a different location in the square, the starry sky came into view so beautifully that it was hard to tell if it was reality or a dream. They quickly informed us if there were muddy spots underfoot, and the photos taken with my friends at a spot where we could see the stars and the sea were fantastic!

Even near the coast, bats are flying around, and there was a cave close to the sandy beach that was home to coconut crabs. The stars are so beautiful that the area has been designated as a starry sky protection zone, and you can usually see famous constellations like the Milky Way depending on the season.
I've heard that fireflies can be seen from March to May, so if I get the chance, I would like to participate in that as well.
