We participated as a family of four. Unfortunately, it was a cloudy day, but the dam released water in the morning, so the river was quite full. I went in mid-February. It was a bit snowy, but it was warm inside the tent, allowing me to focus on fishing.

First, I drilled a hole in the ice, set up my chair, and followed the instructions to entice the fish from the bottom, and I caught some! The subtle bites were incredibly fun.

It was my first experience on the ice, and I was really excited. The smelt I caught was made into tempura for free at the dining area, and I had lunch there; it was a reasonably priced and delicious set meal.

Right near the fishing spot, there are clean restrooms and wash areas in a beautiful commercial facility, and you can buy souvenirs and food, so there's no need for women to worry.

I highly recommend trying it out, especially since it's a limited-time experience!
