    Arashiyama can be very very crowded. For a peaceful, fulfilling start to your Arashiyama trip, recommend to take this 1-hour private boat trip (with table) early at 9am! Worth the money spent, guaranteed.

    Value for money. Easy to find start location outside Kyoto train station. Very welcoming with checks of passengers so we don't get left behind.     Takato Matsudaira was instructive, protective, and kind as he taught us about the knife-making process. It gave us a renewed appreciation for the knives that we use every day. At the end of this class, we produced wobbly, pitted knives that we'll treasure forever, because despite, or probably because of the imperfections, we made it ourselves!
