The time we spent on land was short, and there were only a few places to visit. But that's understandable. The museum makes up for it. Also, perhaps because of the set schedule, the staff from other companies we passed by were quite tense and unfriendly. However, the staff from this company were pleasant until the end. Gunkanjima was absolutely amazing. The guide was a veteran and very skilled. Hearing the stories from that time brought me to tears.

The sea had a bit of a wave, so I felt a little seasick. Since I participated from the museum, I was able to sit in a good seat preferentially, but it was on the second floor, so it swayed. For those worried about seasickness, the first floor has less movement. I wish I had taken some motion sickness medicine. I wanted to sit in a seat with a good view, so I opted for the ticket that includes admission to the Gunkanjima Digital Museum, which comes with a priority boarding pass. However, if you're lucky, you might still get a good seat without it. The Gunkanjima Digital Museum was great, so I recommend the ticket that includes admission, even though it's more expensive. As long as it's during the museum's operating hours on the day of your visit, you can re-enter with the re-entry ticket you received.

First, I watched a video at the Digital Museum while listening to a guide who actually lived there. I heard some quite realistic stories. Then, like a field trip, we were guided in order of our numbers to the port for boarding. The outside seats have a great view, but they can be a bit cold and you might get splashed. They provide raincoats specifically for those seats, so I recommend wearing one for warmth; in fact, almost everyone was wearing one.

If you don't mind sacrificing photo opportunities for comfort, I think the inside seats are a good choice. Once we landed, we had a tour of the island led by a veteran guide who is around 80 years old and actually lived there. I heard interesting and engaging stories. The ruins are breathtaking, and it's no wonder they became a World Heritage site. Although we only had about an hour on the island, it was still enough time. I'm really glad I was able to land on Gunkanjima. The boat didn't sway as much as I expected.

Don't underestimate the Gunkanjima Digital Museum. There are some quite interesting exhibits and videos. I especially recommend the 360° VR experience in the restricted area on the third floor. Gunkanjima is definitely a place you should see. I highly recommend this tour.

In early March, I participated in an afternoon tour. The previous day, the tour was canceled due to wind and rain, and I heard that although the morning tour was able to land, they couldn't go around the island due to some wind, which made me anxious about what would happen. However, we were able to land safely and had the best tour experience.

This tour was organized by a company called "Gunkanjima Concierge." Apparently, they have a higher landing rate compared to other companies. When I arrived 15 minutes before the meeting time, there were already a few people in line. It seems that boarding the boat is on a first-come, first-served basis, and since I was 20th in line, I thought I was early, but in the end, those who purchased tickets combined with a visit to the Gunkanjima Museum boarded first, so we ended up being quite late. That said, my family of three was able to sit together.

The boat was new and large, which was reassuring. After departing from Nagasaki Port, we arrived around Gunkanjima in about 30 minutes. There was no rocking at all until we slowed down to circle around the island, during which it rocked quite a bit, causing some people to feel unwell. The staff went around asking, "Is anyone feeling unwell?" and provided cold towels, showing great care. I was also surprised that the boat's restroom was clean and equipped with a washlet.

We landed safely and were overwhelmed by the ruins. The guide's explanations were very interesting, and at times, they shared passionate stories that were quite moving, making for an enjoyable time.

今回のツアーは「軍艦島コンシェルジュ」という会社が催行。どうやら他社に比べて上陸率が高い会社とのこと。
集合時間の15分前に行くと、既に何人か並んでいる。先着順に船に乗れるそうで、20番目だったので早い方かと思ったが、結果的には軍艦島ミュージアム見学とセットでチケットを購入した人たちが先になり、我々は結構遅い方になってしまった。とはいえ、家族3名固まって座ることができた。

船は新しく大きな船で安心。長崎港を出港後、30分ほどで軍艦島周辺に到着。ここまではまったく揺れなかったが、スピードを落として軍艦島のまわりをまわる周遊の際には結構揺れて、具合の悪くなる人達もいた。スタッフたちが「具合の悪い人はいますか？」と声をかけてまわり、冷たいおしぼりを配ったり、至れり尽くせりだった。また、船のトイレはきれいで、ウォシュレットも完備しているのには驚いた。

そして無事に上陸。廃墟に圧倒される。ガイドさんの解説はとても面白く、また時には感動するような熱い話もしてくれて、楽しいひと時であった。

島はずっと風が吹いているので、かなり寒く感じるため、この時期は防寒対策は万全にしていった方がいいのと、乗り物酔いの薬は事前に飲んでおいた方がいいと思う。

We participated in a Gunkanjima tour with three people. Although there were cancellations due to the season, we were lucky that our day was able to set sail. The sea was rough, and the boat rocked a lot, making me feel seasick and unable to stand. While I was sitting on the deck taking pictures of Gunkanjima in the distance, a staff member kindly offered to take my photo. They took my camera, went down to the first floor, and came back with pictures taken from the best position. I was really grateful for that! Besides that, the hospitality of the staff, the skilled storytelling of the older guide, everything was excellent!

Gunkanjima was certainly great, but before going to Gunkanjima, I did some preliminary study at the museum. It was good to reaffirm the history. The 3D experience allowed me to peek into places I couldn't enter myself, and I could stand at the edge of a building and look down, which was a bit thrilling.

軍艦島はもちろん良かったけど、軍艦島に行く前にミュージアムで事前勉強。歴史を改めて確認。3D体験では自分では入れない場所を覗け、ビルの端に立って下を見下ろせるちょっとスリリングなことも出来て良かった。
