I went to Iriomote Island for the first time and booked a tour to Yubu Island by kayak and water buffalo. In the morning, I experienced kayaking and explored the mangrove forest for about an hour. I really felt the beauty of nature. The staff were very kind and explained everything well, making it a lot of fun! After that, we took a lunch break and then headed to Yubu Island by water buffalo cart! It took about 10 minutes to reach the island, and we enjoyed about an hour on Yubu Island! The gelato from a shop called Yubu Island Chaya was incredibly delicious! I highly recommend the island banana flavor.

午前中にカヤック体験をして、マングローブ林を約1時間探索しました。大自然をとても感じられました。スタッフさんも優しく説明してくださり、大変楽しめました！その後、お昼休憩を挟み、水牛車で由布島にレッツゴー！10分ほどで島につき、そこから由布島を1時間ほど楽しみました！由布島茶屋というジェラート屋さんのジェラートがとっても美味しかったです！島バナナが1番のおすすめです。

I visited Iriomote Island for the first time. The kayaking experience surrounded by the magnificent mangrove nature was unforgettable, and the air was so fresh. The companions I experienced it with and the instructor were very warm, and it was truly enjoyable!!! After kayaking, I had goya champuru at Gen Shokudo. It was very soothing for my tired body. The water buffaloes were so cute and provided a relaxing time. It's only about a 50-minute trip from Ishigaki Island, so I highly recommend it!

I participated on January 18th! It was a bit cold in short sleeves, so having something to wear over it would be good! When kayaking, your lower body gets wet up to your underwear, so a change of clothes is essential 😅 After the kayaking experience, you can use a warm shower! I joined a group with other tourists, and it was really fun to chat with everyone! The staff were also kind and provided explanations about the island, which was great! I definitely want to recommend this!

I often saw pictures of water buffalo, but I actually rode one across the sea. Each water buffalo has its own personality; some are laid-back, while others are a bit impatient. The weather in Ishigaki Island wasn't great in January, but that day we were blessed with clear skies, and I was satisfied to be able to do some sightseeing.

I signed up for the tour on January 4th. I think there were about 20 other guests accompanying me. The guides were all young men, and they were very kind. Even if it's your first time canoeing, it's easy, so I don't think you need to worry. If you're slow at paddling, the guide will wait for you! The view of crossing the sea to Yubu Island was more beautiful than I imagined, and the water buffalo were cute and soothing. I was able to see the large pond where the water buffalo live up close! The ice cream at Yubu Island Tea House on the island is exquisite. You can enjoy tea while looking at the beach. However, since it's a tour, there might be a line due to overlapping timings with other guests, so I recommend going to line up as soon as you arrive on the island.

ガイドさんは若いお兄さんばかりで、皆さん優しかったです。

I visited Ishigaki Island during the three-day weekend in January. I jumped on a bus departing from Ishigaki Airport at 1 PM and joined a tour, where I had a wonderful time throughout.

On that day, the wind was strong, and we couldn't enter the sea on the Blue Cave side, so we went snorkeling at a beach about a five-minute drive from Ishigaki Port.

Following the guide's instructions, I put on a wetsuit and entered the sea. At first, it felt cold, but I gradually got used to it and was able to find beautiful coral reefs and schools of small fish. Along the way, I also spotted a fish called Irabucha, which the guide mentioned is delicious to eat. They even recommended a restaurant where I could try it, and I was impressed by how friendly and approachable they were.

ガイドさんの指示に従い、ウェットスーツを着ていざ海に入ったところ、最初は冷たく感じましたが徐々に慣れてきて、素敵な珊瑚礁や小魚の群れを見つけることができました。
途中、イラブチャーというお魚も見つけ、ガイドさん曰く美味しく食べられるとのこと。そちらがいただけるおすすめのお店も紹介してもらえたりと、とても気さくに話してくださったことも印象に残っております。

I participated alone. Originally, I had a one-day plan booked, but I was informed that we couldn't go to the Blue Cave due to high waves, so I canceled the snorkeling part and only joined the morning mangrove tour.

There were a total of five participants, including families and another solo participant, with one guide. I had only done canoeing once nearly ten years ago, but I was able to paddle without any issues. The guide, Makocchan, was very friendly and shared a lot of information about the surrounding nature, and he took many photos for us, which made it a really enjoyable experience.

The canoe experience on the Urauchi River was wonderful, with very clear water. Our guide, Matsushita (nicknamed Macchan), informed us that the area near the river mouth is brackish water, and that the mangroves differ between the riverbanks and the sandbars. The weather was also great that day, with gentle winds, making it the perfect outing.

After lunch, we took a water buffalo cart to Yufu Island. The guide on the water buffalo cart shared that after a natural disaster made the area uninhabitable, an elderly man planted the vegetation that became the foundation of the current botanical garden. It was surprising to see so many flowers blooming in January, and I was lucky enough to capture a photo of a butterfly that came to sip nectar.

During the ride to and from Yufu Island, in addition to explanations about the water buffalo, we were treated to songs played on the sanshin, which made for some wonderful memories. Macchan took care of us during the bus rides, canoeing, and the trip to Yufu Island. I also want to thank Shogo, who guided us on the bus, and everyone who helped with the preparations, as well as the guides on the water buffalo cart. Thank you very much!

昼食後は水牛の観光車で由布島へ。
自然災害で人が住めなくなった後、お爺さん1人で植物を植え、今の植物園の礎を作ったと水牛車のガイドさんからお話をお聞きしました。1月と思えない程のたくさんの花々が咲いており、ちょうど蝶々が蜜を吸いにやって来たところを運良く写真に収める事ができました。
行き帰りの水牛車では、水牛の説明の他、三線で歌を披露していただいたり、とても良い思い出となりました。
バスの移動時の運転から、カヌー引率、由布島までの移動等、まっちゃんにはお世話になりました。
また、バスでガイドをしてくれたショウゴさんや、準備をしてくださった方々、水牛車ガイド方々にもお世話になりました。

Since the person I went with was visiting Okinawa for the first time, we booked this course. We were able to visit various tourist spots in Okinawa, and at the Churaumi Aquarium, we coincidentally got to see the feeding of the whale shark, which was just starting, and we were able to see it swimming vertically. There was no traffic, and we arrived at the steak restaurant an hour early. Although the restaurant was full, they arranged for us to be taken by taxi to their main store. The instructor (Macchan) was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about animals and plants. Not only during the canoeing time but also on the bus, we had great conversations, making for a very enjoyable experience!

We took many photos together, and at the end, they sent them to us. Since it's often hard to get pictures of both of us together when there are just two participants, I was really happy to receive them!

It seems there are other experiences available as well, so I definitely want to participate again next time!

I paddled a canoe for the first time in a place rich in nature. The guides were all friendly and shared various stories with us, even providing detailed explanations about the mangroves! I can only describe them as truly kind.

I participated in a mangrove canoe and Yubu Island water buffalo cart tour in early January.

In the morning, we had a canoe experience in the mangrove forest. The strong winds made it quite challenging to paddle at first, but once we entered the mangrove area, the wind was blocked, making it much easier to paddle. Although the weather was unfortunately cloudy, I was able to feel the beauty of nature up close and have an extraordinary experience.

For lunch, we went to an Okinawan restaurant recommended by our guide. My wife had the goya champuru set meal, and I had the Yaeyama soki soba.

In the afternoon, we participated in the Yubu Island water buffalo cart tour. The sun peeked out, and we were able to see tropical plants and animals on Yubu Island, as well as touch the water buffalo and take photos, which was a lot of fun.

We joined this tour as part of our honeymoon, and it was a truly wonderful experience that we will cherish together.

午前中はマングローブ林でのカヌー体験でした。かなりの強風で最初は漕ぐのが大変でしたが、マングローブ林に入ると風が遮断され、漕ぎやすかったです。あいにくの曇天でしたが、大自然を身近に感じながら非日常的な経験ができました。
お昼はガイドの方に教えていただいた沖縄料理の店で妻はゴーヤチャンプル定食、私は八重山ソーキそばを食べました。
午後は由布島水牛車ツアーに参加しました。午後からは晴れ間も見え、由布島で熱帯の動植物を見たり、水牛に触れて写真を撮る体験もでき、非常に楽しめました。
新婚旅行での参加でしたが、二人で心に残る非常に素晴らしい体験ができました。
