Preparation at the Store and Head to Uehara Port
■ Barasu Island
Barasu Island, an uninhabited gem between Iriomote and Hatoma Islands, is a 10-minute boat ride from Iriomote. Formed by coral shell accumulation, it features crystal-clear waters, stunning coral reefs, and abundant fish.
Experienced and certified guides provide detailed instructions, ensuring that even beginners can enjoy snorkeling with confidence.
We will go snorkeling at a shallow spot with lots of fish and coral reefs, so children and beginners can enjoy as well. We will go to 2-3 points depending on the sea condition.
You may also be lucky enough to swim with sea turtles, as the encounter rate with them is high!
If you wish, we can take underwater photos for you. The photos we take can be copied for free from the gallery on our website. For more details, please ask our staff.
Returning to the Store
The Shop is Equipped with Shower Rooms. You Can Also Take a Break and Enjoy a Light Meal at the "Seaside Cafe," Which Offers a View of the Ocean.

Guests staying in the Uehara area in western Iriomote Island are eligible for transportation service. However, transportation is not available for guests staying in the following distant areas: Ōhara, Hotel Eco Village, Jungle Hotel Painumaya, Hoshidate (Hoshidate Hotel), Sonai (Island Hotel), and Shirahama (Uminchu no Ie). Please arrange your own transportation, such as a rental car, to reach Iriomote Nature School.
