After gathering at the remote island terminal, we headed to the jungle, which is about a 30-minute drive away in a van. There are no streetlights along the way, and it would be quite difficult to go on your own without a guide.

Along the way, we encountered large coconut crabs about 20 centimeters in size on the road, which excited the children in the van.

When we arrived at our destination, we borrowed rubber boots and took a high-lumen flashlight (one per person) as we stepped outside the vehicle. It was so dark without the car lights that even adults felt a little thrill of excitement.

We ventured into the dark jungle and made our way to the beach. Along the way, we encountered many rare creatures, such as giant hermit crabs and Sakishima green lizards.

Upon reaching the beach, we were greeted by a stunning starry sky, which lifted our spirits. I heard that there are coconut crabs living on the rocky areas of this beach.

With our lights in hand, we searched together. Then, we heard the guide shout, "There it is!" and we all rushed over to see a large, shell-less creature that looked like a hermit crab on the rocks. It was a coconut crab.

It was much larger than I had imagined, and we were able to see such a rare creature.

Later, we observed a school of small green fish jumping near the water's edge and a cuttlefish (known as "seiika" in Okinawa) chasing them, making for an incredibly unique and exciting experience. This became my favorite memory.

On the way back, the guide spotted a small shadow on the power lines, and we stopped the car. It was a small owl native to the Yaeyama Islands, the "Ryukyu scops owl."

It was my first time seeing an owl up close, and I was very excited. Such an experience is unique to this place. I highly recommend it!

While daytime kayaking is great, be sure to try out the night experiences in Ishigaki Island as well!

離島ターミナルで集合後、ワゴン車で30分ほどのところにあるジャングルへ。途中から街灯もなく、ガイドさんがいなければ到底個人で行くことは難しいでしょう。
途中、20センチくらいの大型のオカガニが道路に現れたりと、同乗していた子供たちは興奮気味でした。
目的地に到着すると、長靴を借りて懐中電灯(1人一本、高輝度のものが貸し出されます)を片手に車外へ。車のライトがなければ何も見えない暗闇なので大人でも少しドキドキワクワクできます。
暗がりのジャングルに足を踏み入れ、ビーチへ向かいます。
途中、巨大なヤドカリやサキシマキノボリトカゲなど珍しい生き物にたくさん出会うことがだきました。
ビーチに着くと、これまた満点の星空でテンションがあがります。
聞くとこのビーチの岩場には、ヤシガニが住んでいるそう。
みんなでライトを片手に探します。
すると、いた！というガイドさんの声に皆で駆け寄ると、岩場の上の方に大きな貝のないヤドカリのような生き物が。ヤシガニです。
想像以上に大きく、とても貴重な生き物を見られました。
その後もビーチで水辺を跳ねるグリーンの小魚の大群や、それを追うコウイカ(沖縄ではセーイカ)を近くで観察できたりと、とても非日常でワクワクする体験ができました。また、これが1番の思い出になりましたが、帰り道で電線の上に小さな影をガイドさんが見つけ車が止まります。
八重山諸島に生息する小型のフクロウ、「リュウキュウコノハズク」です。
間近でフクロウを見られるのが初めてで、とても興奮しました。こんな体験ができるのはこちらだけです。とってもおすすめです！
昼間のカヤックなどもよいですが、ぜひ、夜の石垣島もトライしてみてください！

In the morning, I experienced snorkeling, and in the afternoon, I tried stand-up paddleboarding (SUP)! I was very satisfied with the morning snorkeling as I got to swim with sea turtles and see various fish! The afternoon SUP was a bit difficult at first, but as I got used to it little by little, I started to enjoy it＾＾ The instructors changed between snorkeling and SUP, but both were very kind and taught us well, making it a fun experience throughout! They also took a lot of photos, which made for wonderful memories♪

午前中にシュノーケリング、午後にＳＵＰを体験しました！
午前のシュノーケリングではウミガメと泳げたり、魚を見れたりできたのでとても満足でした！
午後のSUPは最初難しかったですが、少しずつ慣れてくると楽しめるようになりました＾＾
シュノーケリングとSUPではインストラクターの方が変わりましたが、お二人とも優しく教えてくださり、終始たのしかったです！
また、たくさん写真を撮ってくださるのでとても良い思い出になりました♪

We traveled to the Sakieda point in a beautiful car with a small group. It's a place that's hard to visit alone at night. After passing through a dense jungle, we arrived at a private beach! The starry sky was breathtaking. We were able to relax and enjoy the view of the stars, which was satisfying. The night safari moved quite quickly. It was a bit disappointing that there wasn't enough time to thoroughly search for wildlife. Given the limited time, it can't be helped. I think it's perfect for families and couples who want to enjoy the nature of Yaeyama in a quick way. The guide engaged with all participants, making for a fun time. The explanations about the creatures and constellations were at a level that everyone could understand, so it would have been nice to learn a bit more in-depth. As for COVID-19 measures, the disinfection, car ventilation, and strict mask-wearing were reassuring, but I felt a bit uneasy throughout, which was a slight downside.

綺麗な車に少人数で相乗りして崎枝のポイントへ移動。夜に個人では行きづらい場所です。
鬱蒼としたジャングルを抜けるとプライベートビーチ！満点の星空でした。
ゆったりと星空を眺められて、満足でした。
ナイトサファリはかなりサクサクすすみます。生き物をじっくり探す時間がなく残念でした。限られた時間の中なので仕方がないですね。
サクッと八重山の自然を楽しみたい家族連れ、カップルには最適だと思います。
ガイドさんは参加者満遍なく声をかけてくれて楽しい時間を過ごせました。生物や星座の説明が誰でも知ってるレベルだったので、もう少し深く教えていただけるとよかったな〜
コロナ対策は、消毒や車の換気、マスク徹底など声かけ無く終始不安だったので少しマイナスです。

I was able to enjoy both the night jungle and stargazing in one tour!

First, we headed to the night jungle. The path was flat and easy to walk on, so there was no need to worry about stamina. As we pushed through the grass, we encountered jungle creatures that we couldn't see during the day.

Next, we moved to the stargazing location. Iriomote Island is Japan's first starry sky protection area, and going to a place without streetlights or anything blocking the view, lying on a mat to take in the panoramic view of the stars was absolutely wonderful! It felt like I was showered in sparkling light, and I even got to see shooting stars.

Our guide, Kai, was lively and entertaining, and everyone else in the group enjoyed themselves in a friendly atmosphere. The nights on Iriomote Island are full of excitement!

ひとつのツアーでナイトジャングルと星空鑑賞の2つを楽しめました！
まずはナイトジャングルへ。
足元は悪くなく平坦な道を進むので歩きやすくて体力の心配は無用です。
草をかき分けると昼間には見られないジャングルの生き物がワサワサ登場します。
次は場所を移して星空鑑賞へ。西表島は日本初の星空保護区ということですが、街灯も頭上を遮るものも何もない所へ行きシートに寝転びながらパノラマビューで見る星空の何て素晴らしいこと！
輝きのシャワーを浴びてるようで流れ星も見ることができました。
ガイドのカイ君のトークも元気で面白く他の参加者の皆さんとも和気藹々と楽しめました。
西表島の夜はワクワクがいっぱいです！

I had booked an overnight camping tour, but due to bad weather, it was suddenly changed to a day trip on the morning of the tour. I was disappointed because I was looking forward to camping, but I had such a fun time that I forgot all about it!! The guide taught us a lot about the history of Yakushima and the plants growing by the roadside, which was very educational! I was a bit worried about my stamina, but we took proper breaks, and I was able to walk without overexerting myself. Next time, I want to take revenge on Shiratani Unsuikyo, which I couldn't visit this time!!

一泊のキャンプツアーを予約していましたが、天候が悪く当日朝急遽日帰りツアーに変更となりました。キャンプも楽しみにしていたので残念でしたが、それを忘れるくらい楽しい時間が過ごせました！！ガイドの方も屋久島の歴史や、道端に生えてる草木のことをいろいろ教えてくれてとても勉強になりました！体力に不安もありましたが、休憩もしっかり取ってくださり、無理なく歩くことができました。次回は行けなかった白谷雲水峡にリベンジしたいと思います！！

Today, we participated as a couple. We ventured deep into the forest and were able to see coconut crabs, hermit crabs, and fireflies. I was especially moved to see a sea snake on land for the first time, captivated by its beautiful patterns and the way it climbed the rocks. While walking through the forest, we could hear the sounds of animals (birds) singing and insects moving on the fallen leaves, experiencing something that can only be felt in nature. The moonlight was dazzling, but my husband seemed to have spotted a shooting star. Next time we come to Ishigaki, we would like to participate again.

本日、夫婦で参加しました。森の中をずんずん進みヤシガニやヤドカリ、ホタルを見ることができました。特に陸にいるウミヘビを初めて見ることができ、模様の美しさや岩を登っていく動きに感動しました。森を歩いている最中は動物（鳥）の鳴き声や虫が落ち葉の上を動く音が聞こえ、自然の中でしか味わえないものを体感しました。月明かりが眩しかったのですが、夫は流れ星を見れたようです。次回、石垣に来たときも、参加したいです。

Since I don't usually exercise, I didn't want to inconvenience others on a group tour and wanted to enjoy at our own pace, so we opted for a private tour.

As a result, we were extremely satisfied!! The guide who was in charge was someone overflowing with love for Yakushima, with rich knowledge and experience. They taught us a lot about history, theology, and plants along the way.

I don't think we would have been able to have such in-depth conversations on a group tour. Thanks to the guide, we were able to enjoy trekking at our own pace.

This experience made me fall in love with Yakushima. Next, I want to challenge myself at Shiratani Unsuikyo. When that time comes, I would definitely like to request again.

普段運動をしないので、グループツアーで他の人に迷惑をかけたくない、自分たちのペースで楽しみたいと思い貸切ツアーにしました。

結果、大満足です！！担当してくだったガイドさんは、知識経験ともに豊富な屋久島愛に溢れる方で、歴史・神学・植物など道中たくさんのことを教えてもらいました。

グループツアーだったら、ここまでたくさんお話はできなかったと思います。ガイドさんのおかげで、自分たちのペースで楽しくトレッキングすることができました。

今回で屋久島のことが好きになりました。次は白谷雲水峡にチャレンジしたいです。その時は是非、またお願いします。

On the day we participated, the sky was cloudy, so I was worried about whether we would be able to see the stars clearly. However, thanks to our guide, Mr. Yamazaki, who took us to a great spot for stargazing, we were able to see a beautiful night sky.

We also got to see many more animals than we had imagined, which was a lot of fun. It seems we were lucky on the day we participated, as we were able to see several coconut crabs. Thank you for finding them for us!

We saw various animals such as owls, frogs, crabs, and fireflies. The detailed explanations of the flora and fauna made for a very enjoyable time. Thank you!

I would love to participate again when I come to Ishigaki Island.

私たちが参加した日は、空が曇っていたので、星空が綺麗に見えるか不安でしたが、ガイドをしてくださったヤマザキさんが、星空が綺麗に見えるポイントに案内して下さったお陰で、きれいな夜空を見ることができました。
また、想像していたよりの沢山の動物を見ることができて、とても楽しかったです。私たちが参加した日が運が良かったようで、数匹のヤシガニを見ることが出来ました。見つけてくださってありがとうございます！
フクロウ、カエル、カニ、ホタルなど、色んな動物を見ることができました。 丁寧に動植物の説明もしてくれたお陰で、とても楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。ありがとうございます。
また、石垣島にきた時は、参加したいと思いました。

The weather forecast predicted rain, but the tour went ahead as planned. The boat has a roof, and you can also enjoy the view from indoors, so you can have fun even in the rain. They also provide raincoats, which is reassuring. The guide keeps you entertained for the entire 90 minutes, so it was enjoyable without getting bored. It was really great!

天気予報は雨でしたがそのまま催行。船には屋根もあるし、室内からも見れるので雨でも楽しめます。カッパも貸していただけるので安心です。90分ずっと案内してくれるので飽きずに楽しめました。とても良かったです！

The inside of the restaurant was clean, very simple, and stylish! The dish I reserved, "Tobiuo no Himatsubushi," was incredibly delicious!! It seemed to be fried tobiuo seasoned with a sweet sauce. When you hear "fried," you might imagine a dry flavor, but that was not the case at all; the texture was very soft and easy to eat! Additionally, when I had it as ochazuke with the bonito broth at the end, it further stimulated my appetite, and I could have had several bowls (laughs). The apricot ice cream for dessert was also delicious!!

I definitely recommend Katagiri!

予約した「とびうおのひまつぶし」の料理は、とても美味しかったです！！
とびうおの細切れに甘いたれのようなもので味付けしたものをフライにしているようでした。フライと聞くとパサパサしたような風味かと想像されるかもしれませんが、全然そんなことはなく、触感は非常に柔らかく食べやすかったです！また、最後にあごだしでお茶漬け風にして食べると、さらに食欲をかきたてられ何杯でもいけました（笑）デザートのあんずのアイスクリームも美味しかったです！！

かたぎりさんを是非、お勧めします！！

I participated in this tour with my family of four, including two elementary school children. First, I was told that my husband's life jacket had a broken safety belt and was too small for his size, and that was the only option available. I also realized that my daughter's snorkel had a broken mouthpiece after we got into the water, but they said it was okay since she could still hold it.

I felt very anxious because there was nothing safe available, and as beginners, we were quite worried.

On the way from the parking lot to the sea, the guide only happily talked to the mother participating with her child, while two kids around 2-3 years old desperately chased after her. I felt uncomfortable as we followed behind them, hearing her say, "I wonder if it's because my mom is cute."

It's impossible for a 2-3 year old to breathe through their mouth (based on my child's experience), and they panicked and cried in the water while we had to wait for a long time. I think the guide should have increased the number of staff or allowed the mother to take some responsibility since it was clear that snorkeling was difficult for that age group. It was frustrating that the guide was focused solely on them while neglecting the other participants.

In the water, we were told to follow the guide and the mother with her son, who was in a float. After swimming out for a while, we noticed the three of them had stopped, and when we caught up and looked into the water, I exclaimed, "There’s a turtle!" I hurriedly informed my family, but I wondered why the guide hadn’t told us about the turtle. I thought the boy was crying in panic because they had forced him to see the turtle, which made me feel really bad that we weren’t informed.

After that, we were told to wait while the mother and child took photos first, and we waited for about 15 minutes. Our family’s photo time was only about 3 minutes. The guide said, "Okay, it's done. Please wait, and I'll call you later." We waited for 30-40 minutes without being called, and we were left behind while the guide focused on the mother and child for photos. I was beyond disappointed and felt exasperated by the terrible treatment.

When we were finally called, we waited silently for the guide to take pictures of just the turtle, and we talked about the turtle and fish for just one minute before it ended.

On the way back to the beach, the guide found a large piece of coral or a shell and showed it to the boy, who was crying even more. We followed behind, but the guide didn’t show anything to my kids and didn’t say a word to us throughout the tour, which was disappointing.

They had mentioned that we would receive 20-30 photo data, but the photos sent later included 9 pictures of just the turtle and 12 pictures of our family in black life jackets that looked terrible, totaling 21 photos. I was really disappointed since I had signed up expecting good photos.

We paid for four people but were neglected the entire time. We were told not to go far in the water and just float while watching the turtle for many minutes. At the end, we were asked, "Did you pay in advance? Please return the rental items," and after returning them, there was no greeting. I asked my husband, "Is this how we leave without any acknowledgment?" He returned the life jacket and said, "Thank you." The guide replied, "Oh, thanks. I’m going to collect the money from the mother and child," and ran off. We were left behind and had no choice but to leave.

On the day of the tour, it started to rain, and it got heavier, with the temperature and water temperature dropping, making it so cold that even adults were shivering, and the kids' lips turned purple from the cold. Was the mention of showers and changing rooms a lie? We were sent away without any guidance. Due to the heavy rain and extreme cold, we had to get into the car soaking wet and turned the heater up to maximum while shivering on the way home.

小学生の子供2人を含む4人家族で参加しました。
まず、主人のライフジャケットの安全ベルトが壊れているし、体格に合わない小さなサイズなのにそれしかないと言われました。
娘のシュノーケルもくわえる部分が切れて無いこわれたものに海にでてから気づきましたが、一応くわえられるからと言われました。
安全性の欠けるものしかなく、初心者なのでとても不安に感じました。

そして駐車場から海へ向かう間、ガイドさんは母子参加の母親にだけ楽しそうに話しかけ、2～3才？の子供が2人の後を必死で追いかけながら、「うちのママ可愛いいからかなと」ぼやいていて、私達はその後ろをついていきながら、嫌な気分になりました。

2～3才の子が口呼吸できるわけもなく(うちの子の体験談)海でパニック、大泣きで私達はずっと待たされる(年齢的にシュノーケルが難しいのはわかると思うので、ガイドの増員や、母親に少しは任せる等、ガイドがつきっきりで、他の参加者は放置では困ると思いました。)

海でも、浮き輪にした男の子をガイドさんがひっぱりながらその母親と3人で行く後ろを私達家族がついていくよう言われました。しばらく沖へ泳ぐと、前の三人が止まっているので追いついて海を覗くと、「亀がいる！！」私は急いで家族に知らせて喜びましたが、(なぜ私達家族に亀がいるとガイドさんは教えてもくれないのか？) 追いついた時に更に男の子がパニックに泣いていたのは、亀を見せようと、無理じいしたからかな。。。と思い、私達家族には教えてくれないのが本当に嫌な気分でした。
その後、写真撮影を母子から先にするので待っているよういわれ、15分ぐらい？待っていました。そして私達家族の撮影時間は約3分程。「はい、撮れました。では、また後で呼ぶので待っていて下さい。」と言われて30～40分待ち続けましたが呼ばれることなく、最後まで放置され母子につきっきりでガイドと写真撮影をされていて、あまりにひどい扱いにガッカリを通り越し呆れました。
最後に呼ばれるとガイドさんが無言で亀のみの写真をとっているのを待ち、亀と魚の話しを1分して終了。

ビーチへ戻る間もガイドさんが途中大きな珊瑚のかけらか貝殻を見つけたようで、男の子に見せて更に大泣きしてるのが見えながら、後からついていきましたが、うちの子達には見せてくれるどころか、ツアー中一言も声をかけることもない態度にガッカリでした。

フォトデータ20～30枚撮ってもらえると紹介ありましたが、後日送られた写真は、亀のみの真が9枚、３分程でとった黒いライフジャケットを着た映えない真っ黒な４人家族と亀の写真が12枚。の21枚。写真を期待して申し込みましたが、ガッカリですぎました。
私達は4人分も料金を払って終始放置。ガイドもなく、海でも遠くに行かないで待つよう言われ、何十分も亀を見ながら浮かんでいるのみ。
最後も、「お金は先に払ってもらってました？レンタル品を返して下さい」と言われ、返しましたが何の挨拶もなく、私が思わず主人に「挨拶もないけど、これで帰るってこと？」と聞くと、主人がライフジャケットを返しながら「ありがとうございました。」と言ってみる。。。「あ、どうも。じゃ、僕は母子の車にお金もらいに行くので。」と言って走り去られ。取り残された私達はしかたなく帰りました。
当日はツアー中雨が降り出し、だんだん激しくなり、気温も水温も下がり、寒くて大人でも震える程で子供達も口びるが紫になって震えていました。シャワーと更衣室の用意があるとの記載は嘘でしょうか？ 何の案内もなく帰されました。ひどい雨であまりの寒さにびしょ濡れのまましかたなく車に乗り、車の暖房を最大にして震えながら帰りました。
家族で2万円以上も支払っているのに、記載内容のツアーもしてもらえず、写真も適当でほぼ詐欺です。
こんなにひどいツアーは初めてでした。

I was unsure whether to go alone, but I'm glad I signed up for the tour! I thought the pace might be too fast, but in the end, it was perfect! I don't think we could have done this on our own...

It seems we happened to choose a week with bad weather, and it rained heavily, but on the contrary, I think we saw some views that we wouldn't normally see.

Our guide, Taiyo, was a really nice person! It was amazing how he seemed to know when it was going to rain; he opened his umbrella just before the rain started. Incredible.

At the photo spots, he made sure to take beautiful pictures for us! I had trekking poles prepared, but I didn't end up using them. I didn't have an umbrella, but I was told to bring one during a phone call the day before, so I bought one at the supermarket. I'm glad I did.

Yakushima is a place I've always wanted to visit at least once in my life. I can say that I want to go back again, not just once.

ペース配分も早い？と思いましたが結果すごくベストだったと思います！自分たちだけではこうは行かなかったと…
たまたま天気が良くない週だったらしく、雨も凄かったですが、逆に普段見られないような景色だったと思います。

雨が降るのがわかっているのか、降る直前に傘をさしてさした瞬間雨が降ってくる。すごすぎ。
写真スポットではしっかり綺麗に写真撮ってくれました！
トレッキングポールは用意してましたが使いませんでした。
傘は用意してなかったですが、前日の電話で用意してくださいと言われたのでスーパーで購入。あってよかったです。
人生に1度は行きたいと思っていた屋久島。
1度とは言わずまた行きたいと思えるところです。

I visited in the summer, and it was hotter than I expected, so I recommend visiting in spring or autumn. That said, as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is definitely worth seeing, and the guided explanations were very interesting. The hand-baked rice crackers I made had a deliciousness that you can't find in store-bought ones. I would love to participate again if I have the chance.

夏に訪問し、思っている以上に暑かったため、春・秋の参加をお勧めします。とはいえ、世界遺産ということで見る価値は非常に高く、ガイド説明が興味深い内容でした。また、自分で作った手焼きせんべいは売っているものでは感じられないおいしさがあります。また機会があればぜひ参加したいです。

I saw such a beautiful starry sky for the first time. It was also my first time seeing the Milky Way, and I was moved. I got some wonderful photos taken. It's the best!

I booked a tour for the first day. When I arrived, I was worried about whether we could go ahead due to the strong rain and wind from the typhoon. However, once the tour started, I was so engrossed that I didn't even notice when the rain stopped! They lent me a large raincoat that covered my legs and rubber boots, so I was completely fine in the rain.

During the tour, I was able to see many creatures up close, which was a very valuable experience. Just walking through the jungle-like forest was incredibly fun. It was a highly satisfying tour!

During the transportation, our guide, Ryu, worked hard to find creatures, asked us quizzes about Ishigaki Island, and recommended nearby places and restaurants. He even suggested safe beaches for families with children, providing us with a wonderful time. Ryu's enthusiasm kept the kids entertained throughout. Not only during the tour but also during our stay afterward, we were able to visit recommended places and enjoy Ishigaki Island.

１日目にツアーを予約していきました。
着いた時は台風の影響もあって、雨風が強く今日できるのか心配でした。ツアーが始まると、いつ雨が止んでいたのかも気づかないくらい夢中になっていました！ツアー前に足まで隠れる大きめのカッパと長靴を貸していただき、雨の中でも全然大丈夫でした。

ツアー中には、たくさんの生き物を間近で見ることができ、とても貴重な体験でした。ジャングルのような森の中を歩くだけでもすごく楽しかったです。大満足のツアーでした！

送迎中も、ガイドのリュウさんが一生懸命生き物を探してくれたり、石垣島のクイズを出してくれたり、宿泊施設に近いオススメの場所やレストラン、子供がいたらこのビーチが安全でいいよ〜など、とても素敵な時間を提供してくれました。リュウさんが盛り上げてくれるので、子供たちも終始楽しそうでした。ツアー中はもちろん、その後の滞在でもオススメの場所に行き石垣島を楽しむことが出来ました。

My 6-year-old daughter loves nature, so our family of three participated in this tour. It takes about 30 minutes to get from the city to the adventure site. Along the way, you can experience the coastline from sunset to night, and if you're lucky, you might spot small animals by the roadside. During the tour, the guide provides boots and flashlights, making it safe for children. This time, we saw many rare creatures, including giant coconut crabs, land hermit crabs the size of coconuts, and many strange insects, as well as firefly larvae (which also glow, so my daughter got to see them). Finally, we arrived at the beach at night and eagerly looked up at the starry sky.

6歳の娘は自然が大好きなので、3人家族がこのツアーに参加しました。
街からアドベンチャーサイトまで約30分。途中、夕焼けから夜までの海岸線を感じることができ、運が良ければ道端に小動物が見られます。
ツアー中、ガイドがブーツと懐中電灯を提供するので、子供でも安心できます。
今回はめったに見られない生き物をたくさん見ました。 巨大なココナッツカニ、ヤシの大きさの陸生ヤドカリ、そして多くの奇妙な昆虫、そしてホタルの幼虫でさえ（幼虫も光るので、娘に見られました）
とうとう夜に浜辺に来て、期待して星空を見ました。

The coral reef spread out all around, and there were plenty of tropical fish. On top of that, I was lucky enough to encounter turtles twice. The color of the sea was beautiful as well. I want to come back again.

おまけに亀さんにも二度遭遇し、ラッキーでした。
海の色も綺麗でした。また、来たいです。

Since it was my first time in Yakushima, I decided to go with the classic choice and joined the Shiratani Unsuikyo tour. When I arrived in Yakushima via Toppy, the staff was waiting for me, and after fitting my shoe size, I received my backpack and rain gear rental. On the day of the tour, it seemed that they could pick you up from your accommodation if you were around the Miyanoura area, but since I was staying a bit farther away, we arranged to meet at the Furusato Market. I wore light long pants and a short-sleeve T-shirt, and brought 500ml each of Aquarius and water. We headed to the entrance of Shiratani Unsuikyo in the guide's car from the meeting point, took care of restroom needs, and then set off. The temperature was quite warm, not much different from Miyanoura. The trekking course was lively, and we greeted people passing by. In narrow spots, those going downhill would yield to those going uphill. At beautiful viewpoints along the way, the guide took photos and shared various information about Yakushima's forests and the island's formation. I never got bored during the hike. Yakushima is mainly composed of granite, which has a rough texture, making the rocks less slippery. When we reached the moss-covered forest, we set down our backpacks and enjoyed the scenery and took deep breaths to savor Yakushima's nature. It was a bit chilly in the moss-covered forest with just a short-sleeve shirt, but since I was breathing heavily from hiking, it felt just right. The return path felt shorter than the ascent, but there were still some slippery spots, so caution was necessary. Although we took the same route both ways, the guide shared completely different stories on the way there and back, so I never felt bored. I was also quite lucky to see two Yakushima deer on the way back. The guide drove us back to the morning meeting point, where we returned the rental items, marking the end of the tour. I don’t usually hike, but the distance was just right, and I appreciated the guide's engaging talk, which was backed by rich knowledge. I was very satisfied.

Clothing:
- Short-sleeve T-shirt (no inner layer)
- Light long pants (easy to move in)
- Thick socks (thin ones may cause blisters)

Other notes:
- This is all based on a sunny day in early August. It can get cold enough in winter for snow to accumulate, so be careful with your clothing.
- If you plan to return rental items at the end of the tour, make sure to keep your shoes in the rental car, or you’ll end up going back barefoot. Bringing a bag is also handy for carrying back personal items you had in your backpack.

初めての屋久島だったので、とりあえず王道を行こうと思い白谷雲水峡ツアーに参加しました。トッピーで屋久島に到着した時にスタッフの方が待っててくださり、シューズのサイズを合わせてからリュックや雨具のレンタルを受け取りました。当日は、宮之浦周辺であれば宿まで(?)迎えに来ていただけるみたいですが、少し遠くに宿泊していたため、ふるさと市場での待ち合わせになりました。服装は薄めの長ズボンに半袖Tシャツで臨み、飲み物はアクエリと水を500mlずつ持っていきました。集合場所から白谷雲水峡の入口までガイドさんの車で向かい、トイレを済ませて出発しました。気温は宮之浦などとさほど変わらないくらいで暑かったです。トレッキングコースはなかなか賑わっており、すれ違う人と挨拶をします。道が狭いところでは下りの人が上りの人に道を譲ります。途中途中の景観が綺麗なところでガイドさんが写真を撮ってくださり、また屋久島の森のことや島の成り立ちなど様々なことを教えてくださります。途中で飽きることはありませんでした。屋久島は全体が主に花崗岩でできており、目が粗いため滑りにくい岩が多いそうです。苔むす森に着くとリュックを下ろし、景色を楽しんだり深呼吸をしたりして屋久島の自然を堪能しました。さすがに苔むす森の辺りは半袖では少し肌寒かったですが、ハイキングで息も上がっていたためちょうど良くもありました。帰り道は上りよりも短く感じましたが、ところどころ滑るような場所もあり、油断は禁物です。行きも帰りも同じ道ですが、ガイドさんは行きと帰りとで全く違うお話をしてくださり、やはり飽きることはありませんでした。また、かなりラッキーだと思いますが、帰り道に屋久シカを2匹も見ることができました。登山口からはまたガイドさんが朝の集合場所まで送ってくださり、その場でレンタル用品を返却してツアー終了となりました。普段あまり登山はしませんが、ちょうど良い距離でしたし、ガイドさんの尺埋めトークも豊富な知識あってこそのものだと思いました。大満足です。

・これらは全て8月上旬の晴れた日の話です。冬は雪が積もるほど寒いそうなので服装に気を付けてください。
・ツアー終了時にその場でレンタル用品を返却する方は、レンタカーの中に靴を入れておかないと、裸足で帰ることになります。袋も持っていっておくと、リュックに入れていた私物を持ち帰るときに便利です。

I enjoyed a stylish and delicious meal. Since flying fish dishes are a specialty of Yakushima, I definitely recommend trying them. In addition to hitsumabushi, there are also flying fish oil pasta and tangerine sausage, which are highly recommended. The seating is limited, so it's better to make a reservation or call ahead.

One disappointing aspect was that the appetizer plate included Nagata tofu, and the small bowl also had Nagata tofu (though it was seasoned a bit differently).

オシャレで美味しい食事を頂けました。
トビウオ料理は屋久島の名物なので、ぜひ味わったほうがいいと思います。
ひつまぶし以外にもトビウオのオイルパスタやタンカン入りソーセージなどもあり、おすすめです。
席数が少なめなので、予約か電話問合せしたほうが良いです。

一つ残念だったのが、前菜プレートに永田豆腐があり、小鉢も永田豆腐(ちょっと味付けが違う)でした。

Due to the cancellation of flights caused by the typhoon, we were delayed by about half a day, so we couldn't go on the Jomon Sugi trekking tour. However, they proposed an alternative plan, and we switched to the Shiratani Unsuikyo guided tour. They even picked us up from the airport and were very flexible with our schedule. I am truly grateful. The Shiratani Unsuikyo tour was incredibly fun as well. Although it rained occasionally due to the typhoon, the rain made the trees and moss sparkle, creating a very magical atmosphere as we made our way to Taiko Rock! The view of the mountains of Yakushima from Taiko Rock was breathtaking. It was a very satisfying tour. Thank you so much!

台風による飛行機欠航により、到着予定より半日ほど遅れたため、縄文杉トレッキングツアーはできませんでした。。。しかし、代替案を提案して下さり、白谷雲水峡ガイドツアーへの変更となり、ホテルまでのお迎えも空港でお迎えしてくれたり、こちらの都合に柔軟に対応して下さりました。。。ホントに感謝しかありません。。白谷雲水峡ツアーも、めちゃくちゃ楽しかったです。台風の影響もあり雨が時々降っていたのですが、その雨で木や苔がキラキラ光ってとても幻想的なコンディションで太鼓岩まで行くことができました！そして、太鼓岩からの屋久島の山々の眺めは圧感でした笑笑大満足のツアーでした。ホントにありがとうございました。

I participated with my two children. There were moments when I felt like giving up, but thanks to our experienced guide who kept a steady pace without slowing down in a good way, I was able to motivate myself to keep going! I am grateful that the guide responded immediately when my shoe broke. I finally got to see Jomon Sugi, which was a long-held dream!

子供2人と参加しました。途中で気持ちが萎えそうになりましたが、ガイドさんがベテランで最後まで歩けるように良い意味でペースを落とさずに進んでくれたおかげで頑張らなくちゃ！と、自分を鼓舞して進めました。途中、靴が壊れた時にガイドさんがすぐに対応して下さり感謝しています。縄文杉が見れて念願叶いました！

In early August, just before the Obon holiday, I participated in a trip during a typhoon. Since the high-speed ferry from Takamatsu Port was canceled, we had to travel to Shodoshima by ferry. Because we left early, we made it to the meeting time in Shodoshima, but I was unaware of the cancellations until we arrived at the port. I recommend checking frequently or moving early.

The Monkey Kingdom and Kankakei were affected by the typhoon, making it feel far from a typical sightseeing experience. However, our guide shared what the scenery would look like if the weather were clear, which allowed us to imagine the beautiful views.

On the mountain roads, we saw fallen trees due to the typhoon, and everyone helped clear the way for buses and cars. In a way, it became a memorable sightseeing experience.

By the time we arrived at Olive Park, the rain had stopped, and only the wind remained.

The safe driving of our driver and the stories and songs from our guide made it a very memorable experience. Although the poor weather was quite disappointing, I appreciate the thoughtfulness shown to the participants, especially since we may not have another opportunity to join such a trip.

８月のお盆前、台風通過中の中
参加しました。高松港から高速船は欠航する中
小豆島までフェリーでの移動となりました。
早めに出ていた為に、小豆島での、集合時刻には間に合いましたが、港に着くまで欠航となっていることを知りませんでした。
こまめにチェックするか早めの移動おすすめします。
お猿の国や寒霞渓は台風の影響を受け
観光とは程遠い感じでしたが、
ガイドさんが、晴れていたら、どのような景観がらみれるとかお話してくださったので、
その情景を思い浮かべすごしました。
山道には台風による倒木もみられ、
バスや車が通れるように　みんなで
撤去しました。
ある意味思い出深い観光となりました。

オリーブ公園に着く頃には雨もやみ
風のみとなりました。

運転手さんの安全運転とガイドさんの
お話や歌、とても、思い出深いものとなりました。
天候不良だったことは、大変残念ですが
次の機会があるかわからない、参加者にとって、
心配りしてくださり、感謝いたします。

It was my first time visiting Yakushima.

The island was much larger than I had imagined, and I was glad to participate in this tour to see the whole island.

I read various comments about lunch, and it included the local specialty, flying fish, which was decent.

島の名物のトビウオが入っていて、
まずまずでした。

About a 30-minute drive north of Ishigaki Island. After parking the car by the roadside, we walk for about 10 minutes through the night jungle towards the coast. At the beach, you can encounter the beautiful starry sky of Ishigaki Island and crabs and hermit crabs wandering along the sandy shore.

The walking time isn't long, so I think it's fine even for those who aren't very confident in their physical fitness.

I recommend this for those who want to enjoy a beautiful starry sky and a little nighttime adventure. Since the stargazing time isn't long, if you're looking for a more serious stargazing experience, I think a specialized tour would be better.

車で30分ほどかけて、石垣島の北へ。道路脇に車を止めて10分ほど夜のジャングルを歩いて海岸へ向かいます。海岸では、石垣島の綺麗な星空と砂浜を歩き回るカニやヤドカリに出会えます。

歩く時間は長く無いので体力に自信の無い方でも問題ないと思います。

綺麗な星空と夜のちょっとした冒険を楽しみたい方にオススメです。天体観測の時間は長くないので、本格的な天体観測がしたい方は専門のツアーが良いと思います。

It was much better than I had imagined! Canoeing while enjoying unique scenery made the time fly by. The tracking allowed us to enjoy the jungle just enough, and I’ve seen many waterfalls before, but it was my first time experiencing such power while entering the basin of the waterfall. From the initial pick-up to the final send-off, the guide was very attentive, and there was nothing lacking in terms of equipment or belongings. During the tour, they shared various stories about Iriomote Island and themselves, and I could feel their desire for us to have a great time.

想像していたよりずっと良かったです！カヌーは他にない景色を見ながらだと時間が経つのがあっという間でした。トラッキングは程よくジャングルを楽しめましたし、ゴールの滝も今まで色々見てきましたが、滝壺に入りながらあのような迫力で見るのは初めてでした。最初のお迎えから最後のお見送りまで丁寧にガイドいただき、設備や持ち物等何不自由なところはなく、ツアー中は西表島やご自身の色々なお話をしていただき、楽しんでもらおうというお気持ちが伝わってきました。

We participated as a couple.
We have been to Ishigaki Island several times, and while looking for activities other than the beach, we found this.
It had been raining until just before, but after getting into the car at the port, it took about 30 minutes to head west, and we arrived in no time.
It was pitch dark outside as we headed into the forest, but they provided us with flashlights, rubber boots, and insect repellent. If you're concerned about touching insects or the trees in the forest, it's a good idea to bring a jacket and socks.
Once we made it through the forest and reached the sea, we were greeted by a sky full of stars, and we quickly spotted a coconut crab. It seems that sometimes you can't find them, so we were lucky.
We also encountered other creatures.
The guide was fun and attentive, helping us find creatures and teaching us about constellations, so we were very satisfied.
I heard that you can see fireflies in early spring, and I would love to participate again.

夫婦で参加しました。
石垣島には何度か来ており、海以外のアクティビティを探したところこれを見つけました。
直前まで雨でしたが、港から車へ乗り、西へ30分程度の移動でしたが、あっという間に到着しました。
外は真っ暗、林へ行くのですが、懐中電灯、長靴、虫除けを貸してくれます。虫や林の木々に触れること、また長靴の直履きが気になる方は上着と靴下を持参すると良いです。
林を抜けて海へ出ると満点の星空、さらにヤシガニがすぐに見つかりました。ヤシガニは見つからないこともあるようで…ラッキーだったみたい。
その他の生き物にも出会いました。
生き物探したり、星座教えてくれたり、とにかくガイドさんが楽しく気を使ってくれますので、満足できますよ。
春先はホタルも見られるとの事、また参加したいたと思います。

I recommend this for those who don't have much time, as you can visit a World Heritage site on a half-day tour. Additionally, the cost performance is very good. The guide was also very helpful.

半日観光で世界遺産にも行けるので時間がない人にはお勧めです。さらにコストパフォーマンスも非常にいいです。ガイドさんもとてもよくしてくれました。
