I went for a memorable trip as a graduation celebration! It was physically challenging, but I was able to fully enjoy the amazing nature that made all the fatigue disappear! The guide was also a very nice person, which made it even better!

On the way there, I encountered monkeys and deer, which really boosted my excitement. The guide provided detailed explanations, and we were able to go at a leisurely pace to Taiko Rock. On the way back, it rained, but the forest in the rain was magical, and it felt nice to walk through it. The moss looked even greener and more beautiful in the rain. After returning, I plan to rewatch "Princess Mononoke."

行きの道中、猿やシカに遭遇してテンションがあがりました。
ガイドの方も丁寧に説明してくれ、ゆっくりペースで太鼓岩まで行くことができました。
帰りは雨でしたが、雨の中の森は幻想的で、歩いていて気持ち良かったです。
雨だと苔がより緑色になって綺麗でした。
そして、帰ったら「もののけ姫」を見返そうと思います。

I participated in a day trip trekking tour to Jomon Sugi. The weather was great, the temperature was just right, the greenery of the forest was beautiful, and I could hear the chirping of Japanese bush warblers and small birds. I was moved by Jomon Sugi, and it was the best day.

However, one disappointing aspect was the guide. There was a lack of consideration, and I didn't feel a sense of awareness as a guide. I will skip the details here, but it was tough walking behind. It seemed like the guide was solely focused on walking at their own pace without any regard for others.

日帰り縄文杉トレッキングツアーに参加しました。
お天気も上々、気温もちょうどよく、森の緑も美しく、ウグイスや小鳥のさえずりも聞こえ、縄文杉に感動し
最高の１日でした。
ただひとつ残念なのはガイドさんでした
あまりにも気配りがなく、ガイドとしての自覚が感じられませんでした。
ここでの詳細は、省きますが後ろを歩くのが辛かったです。
気配りがなく前だけをご自分のペースで歩くことのみに専心されているようでした。

This is a course where you can visit the two major attractions, Shiratani Unsuikyo and Jomon Sugi, in one day. The guide's personality and service were great, making for a very enjoyable trekking experience! I visited in March, and although there were some cold moments, we were warmed up with delicious hot pork soup during the trek, creating a lifelong memory!

This course seems to be quite challenging, to the point that the guides we passed would smile wryly, but with the help of our guide, all the girls were able to reach the top! However, the next day was a hell of muscle pain.

白谷雲水峡と縄文杉の二大名所を1日で回れるコースです。ガイドさんの人柄やサービスもよく、とても楽しいトレッキングでした！三月に伺い寒い時間もありましたがトレッキング中に暖かい豚汁をいただき、身も心も暖められ一生の思い出になりました！
このコースはすれ違うガイドさん達に苦笑いされるほど辛いコースのようですが、担当ガイドさんの助けもあり女子全員で登りきることができました！ただ、次の日は筋肉痛地獄です。

Unfortunately, it rained... or so I thought! The scenery was even more breathtaking on a rainy day, with the greenery looking so vibrant. ✨ The guide was very accommodating and kind, adjusting the course as needed! I participated in early March, and it was a bit chilly, but once we started trekking, my body warmed up, so those worried about the cold might not need to be too concerned. I used a rental, but it was a proper mont-bell one, so I felt reassured.

ガイドの方が臨機応変にコース対応してくれてとても親切です！
3月の上旬参加で少し肌寒かったですが、トレッキングし始めたら体が温まるので寒さを不安視してる方はあまり心配しなくてもいいかもしれません。
レンタルを利用しましたが、mont-bellのちゃんとしたやつだったので安心しました

I had a great time trekking in the beautiful weather! It was fun to hear lots of little tips from the guide. Next time, I want to enjoy Yakushima in the rain too!

The plan to visit Jomon Sugi and Shiratani Unsuikyo in one day is originally quite hard and carries weather risks, but I received careful follow-up communication before departure, and they even considered splitting it into two days based on the situation, which showed great consideration. In reality, we faced harsh conditions with hail and snow, but they adjusted according to our circumstances and kept our spirits up with quizzes and various conversations along the way, allowing us to successfully complete the 12-hour hike. They also took on the role of a wonderful photographer and director, sending us many great photos and videos that night.

It was truly the best day ever. I definitely want to ask Tsugimura-san again!

縄文杉から白谷雲水峡までを1日でまわるという、本来、天候リスクもあり、かなりハードなプランなのですが、出発前から丁寧なフォローの連絡を頂き状況に応じて二日間に分けてくださろうとしたり、とても配慮あるご対応でした。実際、霰や雪が降る厳しい状況でしたが、我々訪問者の状況に応じて進んでくださり、その道すがら心が折れないようクイズや色んな話で盛り上がりながら12時間の登山を無事終えることが出来ました。写真や動画も、素敵なカメラマン兼ディレクターの役割までしてくださって当日の夜に沢山いいものを送ってくださいました。
本来に最高の一日でした。
是非また津曲さんにお願いしたいです！！

A current flight attendant guided us and shared detailed information that we usually overlook. They also researched and answered various questions thoroughly and politely. It was a tour that aviation enthusiasts would absolutely love.

現役のCAさんが案内をしてくれ、普段気が付かない細かな情報を教えてもらいました。また、どのような質問にも、色々と調べていただき丁寧に答えていただきました。
飛行機マニアにはたまらないツアーでした。

I participated in a two-day tour and was guided by two different guides. Both guides had their own unique hospitality, and I was very satisfied.

For example, it was great that the guide helped those who were not good at trekking by advising them on where to step and what to hold onto. Also, when I had the guide who loved photography, I was grateful for the props they lent me and for taking beautiful photos.

2日間ツアーに参加し、2名のガイドさんに案内してもらいました。どちらのガイドさんもそれぞれのホスピタリティーがあり、満足です。

例えば、レッキング苦手な人に列の前に、どこを踏んだ方がいいとか、どこを掴まった方がいいとか、コツを教えてくれて良かったです。
また、写真好きのガイドさんの時は、撮影の小道具を貸してくれたり、写真をきれいに撮ってくれて感謝の気持ちで一杯です。

I was told that it was tough for beginners. I have some hiking experience, but this was my husband's third time hiking. The students we happened to go with were beginners, and their smiles disappeared around the mossy forest in the second half. We managed to walk through it with our physical and mental strength, but it was incredibly exhausting.

There were photo spots here and there, and the guide took great pictures for us. Considering our stay in Yakushima, it was wonderful to be able to visit Ariake in just one day. It became a great memory of the trip.

In the morning, it was drizzling, but by the time we reached Wilson's stump, the sun was shining and the sky was blue. When we got to Jomon Sugi, fog rolled in, creating a mystical landscape. At Taiko Rock, we were told that fog would cover the clouds, but luckily we could see the entire view and light shone through. Around the mossy forest, the fog returned, revealing the beautiful appearance of the forest.

The sense of accomplishment was incredible, but I truly believe that you need to have a strong mindset to tackle it.

初心者にはつらいと言われました。わたしは何度か登山経験があるのですが、夫は登山3回目で。たまたま一緒に行った学生の男の子たちは初心者で、後半の苔むす森あたりから笑顔が消えてました。体力と気力でなんとか歩き切ることができましたがものすごくしんどかったです。
所々写真スポットがあり、ガイドさんがしっかり写真を撮ってくれました。屋久島での滞在期間を考えると1日で有明所を行けるのはありがたかったです。旅のいい思い出になりました。
朝は小雨だったのですがウィルソン株までは日が差して青空でした。縄文杉に行くと霧がかかり幻想的な風景ができました。太鼓岩で霧で雲もかかると言われましたが運良く全貌が見渡せて光が差しました。苔むす森あたりはまた霧がかかりきれいな森の姿が見えました。
達成感はすごかったですが、強い気持ちを持たないと本当にきびしいと思います。

I wasn't confident in my physical strength for my first mountain climb, but thanks to our guide who considered our pace while watching us, we were able to reach Jomon Sugi! Along the way, they took many photos for us, and on the way back, they played various games to keep us entertained, making it enjoyable until the end. Thanks to our guide, it became a wonderful memory! Thank you very much! I'm glad I requested a guide.

初めての登山で体力に自信がありませんでしたが、私たちを見ながらペースを考えてくれたので縄文杉まで辿り着くことができました！

I participated in the Shiratani Unsuikyo to Jomon Sugi course, and the guide kept us entertained with stories and quizzes about Yakushima the whole time, so I was able to finish the walk without feeling tired.

白谷雲水峡〜縄文杉のコースに参加しましたがガイドの方が終始屋久島についての話やクイズを出して楽しませながらガイドしてくれたので疲れを感じることなく、歩き終えることができました。

"Are you going to both Jomon and Shiratani?!" I was warned in advance by both the staff at the inn and the lady at the tourist association (laughs). I was quite nervous about how challenging it would be, but... I had an amazing time!! I believe a big part of that was thanks to our guide, and also the wonderful group of people I was with. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations for a guided mountain trip (I was just hoping to enjoy climbing with my friends), but I would highly recommend this experience to everyone considering it. The knowledge about the land, unique ways to take photos, and engaging games that kept us entertained and distracted from fatigue were fantastic. Ending with a "That was so much fun!!" was all thanks to our guide. Thank you so much!

<Bonus> Advice for future participants: Having knowledge about Studio Ghibli, especially "Princess Mononoke," will definitely enhance your experience! (I personally was quite unfamiliar with it, so I regretted not knowing more... If only I had prepared in advance...!)

「縄文と白谷どちらも行くの？！」と宿の方にも観光協会のお姉さんにも事前に脅されていました(笑) そんなにも大変なのか、とビクビクしながら当日を迎えましたが、、、本当に楽しかったです！！これはガイドさんのお力が半分以上、あとはメンバーに恵まれたのも大きかったと思います。正直なところ、ガイド付き山行はあんまり期待していなかった（一緒に参加した友達と楽しく登れたらな〜ぐらいに考えていた）のですが、今回に関しては行く人皆さまにおすすめしたいです。土地にまつわる知識、ユニークな写真の撮り方、山行を飽きさせない、疲れを感じさせないトークゲーム。最後に「楽しかったー!!」で終われたのは、ガイドさんのおかげです。ありがとうございました！
〈おまけ〉今後参加される方へのアドバイス：もののけ姫をはじめ、ジブリの知識があると十二分に楽しめるかと思います！（私自身だいぶ疎かったので、もっと分かっていたら…！予習しておけば…！と後悔しました）

We took a trip to Yakushima during the four-day holiday in late November. Normally, we rarely use tours when traveling, but this time we participated in this tour and were very satisfied.

On the first day, during the Jomon Sugi tour, the guide (I’m sorry, I forgot their name) mentioned, "This is the highest number of participants in the last two years during the pandemic, it feels like a festival." There were so many people that a special bus was arranged. The guides seemed excited about the large number of tour participants, which made us feel excited too. We started walking on the trolley road before dawn, just walking and walking, and when we wondered how much longer it would continue, we finally arrived at the entrance to the climbing trail. Of course, we saw Wilson's stump, and at various points, we took breaks and had photo opportunities before meeting Jomon Sugi. On the way back, the guide took the last position in the line, and participants took turns leading the way. The guide's pacing and attentiveness were excellent, and despite walking for about 10 hours, we didn't feel too fatigued; it was a very enjoyable trek. We were able to touch many cedars, including Jomon Sugi, and fully enjoy the great outdoors.

On the second day, the Shiratani Unsuikyo tour was affected by rain that had continued since the night before, so we were prepared to change to a tour of Yakushima Island if the weather was bad. We were fully equipped with raincoats. The guide, Mr. Arima, carefully checked the rain conditions and made the judgment that we could manage to go to Taiko Rock. In the morning, it was raining heavily to the point where we thought, "If it keeps raining like this, we might have to cancel." If we had gone individually instead of joining the tour, we would have definitely spent the day in the hotel. From start to finish, the guide provided us with plenty of enjoyable topics, and we participated without feeling any annoyance from the rain.

We are very grateful for the wealth of experience and knowledge of both guides, which allowed us to feel secure and, most importantly, enjoy ourselves. I was particularly impressed by the first day's guide saying, "It rains 35 days a month in Yakushima," as a description of the island.

I hope that many people can return to visit Yakushima. And we want to go to Yakushima AGAIN! Thank you for the wonderful memories.

11月後半４連休をとっての屋久島旅行でした。
普段の旅行では滅多にツアーを利用しない私たちなのですが、今回はこちらのツアーに参加して大変満足しております。

1日目の縄文杉ツアーの日はガイドさん（すみません、お名前忘れてしまいました）が、「コロナ禍のここ2年で最高の参加人数、まるでお祭りだね。」とおっしゃっていたように臨時バスが出るほどの大人数でした。ガイドさんの多くが久々のツアー客の多さに興奮しておられているようで、何だか私たちまでワクワクしたスタートでした。夜明け前からトロッコ道を歩き出し、ただひたすら歩き、そして歩き、また歩き、いつまで続くのやらと思っていた頃にようやく登山道入り口に到着でした。ウィルソン株はもちろんですが、要所要所で休憩を兼ねて撮影タイムを取りながらの、縄文杉にご対面でした。帰路はガイドさんが列の最後尾に付かれ、参加者が交代で先頭を歩きました。ガイドさんのペース配分や気配りが素晴らしく、１０時間ほど歩いた割にはあまり疲労感はなくとても楽しいトレッキングでした。縄文杉始め、数多くの杉に触れ、大自然を満喫することができました。

2日目の白谷雲水峡ツアーは前夜から続いている雨のため、途中まで行って天候が悪ければ屋久島の島内観光に変更しましょうという状況でした。レインコートフル装備で臨みました。ガイドの有馬さんが、細かく雨の状況をチェックしてくださり、これなら行けるかもという判断で何とか太鼓岩まで行くことができました。朝の時点で、「こんなに降っていたらキャンセルかもね。」というくらいの大雨だったので、ツアーに参加せずに個人で行っていたら間違いなく一日ホテルで過ごしていることになっていたと思います。最初から最後まで楽しい話題満載で案内していただき、私たちも雨の中の煩わしさなど全く感じることなく楽しく参加させていただきました。

お二人のガイドさんの経験・知識がとても豊富でしたので、安心してそして何より楽しませていただけたことにとても感謝しています。
初日のガイドさんの「屋久島ではひと月のうち35日は雨が降ります」と屋久島を表現されていたことが印象的でした。

多くの方が屋久島を訪れる状況に戻れるように願います。
そして私たちも屋久島AGAIN!です。

The Jomon Sugi course takes 10 hours, and I underestimated this slower 5-hour course. For someone like me who rarely walks long distances, it was quite a trek. I had a very satisfying time with the guide's fun stories and extensive knowledge, and the pace was tailored to the group. Although I was tired, I feel like I want to go back in different seasons to discover more. The breathtaking view from Taiko Rock, the highlight of the trek, is the best reward for those who have climbed up. There is only one restroom along the way, so those with frequent needs should be cautious.

縄文杉コースが10時間で、こちらはゆっくり5時間のコースということでナメてました。めったに長距離を歩かない自分にとっては結構なトレッキングでした。
ガイドさんの楽しいお話と豊富な知識、その時々の人に合わせたペースで非常に満足のいった時間を過ごせました。
疲れたけれど季節を変えて何度でも行っていろいろと発見したいと感じます。ハイライトの太鼓岩からの絶景は登ってきた人への最高のご褒美です。
トイレが途中１か所しか無いので頻尿の人は注意が必要です。

I'm really glad I decided to sign up for this course! Since it was my first solo trip in a while and I didn't have much mountain climbing experience, I was a bit anxious about visiting Shiratani Unsuikyo and Jomon Sugi in one day. We set off early at 4:30 AM, and while the starry sky was beautiful, I was nervous starting the climb since I needed a light to walk on the mountain path. However, our guide, Tsugimura, and the two other participants were very friendly, and we got really into the various quiz topics Tsugimura presented. We also took lots of photos and videos, making it a fun experience beyond just tracking. I still wonder if I really walked close to 40,000 steps in one day! Fortunately, the weather was great, and it didn't rain, which made the views from Taiko Rock and Jomon Sugi unforgettable memories. Thank you very much!

思い切ってこちらのコースに申し込んで本当に良かったです！久しぶりの1人旅かつ山登り経験もあまりなかったことから、1日で白谷雲水峡→縄文杉をまわることに不安を感じてました。当日早朝4時半出発で満天の星空は綺麗なものの、山道はライトを付けないと歩けずドキドキで登り始めました。が、ガイドの津曲さんや一緒に参加されたお2人とも気さくな方で、津曲さんからの様々なお題のクイズに熱中したり、写真や動画撮りをしていただいたりと、トラッキング以外にも楽しいことが盛りだくさんだったので、1日で4万歩近く本当に歩いたのかなと今でも思います！また天気にも恵まれて珍しく雨も降らなかったようで、太鼓岩からの景色も縄文杉等も忘れられない思い出になりました。ありがとうございました！

I had a lot of anxiety on my first mountain climbing experience, but thanks to our guide, Tsugimura, who engaged us with quizzes and stories, I was able to reach the summit. Tsugimura shared many local recommendations, favorite spots, and souvenir shops that you wouldn't find in guidebooks, providing us with unique insights. The memories from the tour, as well as the rest of my trip, became truly special. It's not an exaggeration to say that the enjoyment of the tour can change depending on the guide. The 11 hours and 30 minutes felt like no time at all, and I owe that to Tsugimura and everyone who climbed with us! I created wonderful memories! Thank you very much!

初めての山登りで不安もたくさんありましたが、ガイドの津曲さんがクイズやお話などをしていただいたおかげで登り切ることができました。津曲さんが地元ならではのおすすめスポットや行きつけのお店、おすすめのお土産屋さんなど、ガイドブックには載っていないガイドさんならではの情報をたくさん教えていただきました！ツアー時だけでなく、その後の旅も思い出になりました。ガイドさんでツアーの楽しみが変わると言っても過言ではないです。11時間30分という長い時間があっという間に感じたのは、ガイドの津曲さんと一緒に登ってくれたみなさんのおかげだと思っています！ステキな思い出ができました！ありがとうございました！

I participated alone and it was my first mountain climbing experience, so I was filled with anxiety. However, thanks to Tsugimura's conversational skills and the personalities of the other two groups, I was able to enjoy the climb! Tsugimura's quizzes and various knowledge discussions made the time fly, and before I knew it, we had arrived at the top, which was impressive. I encourage everyone to join in as well! You won't regret it.

My first time in Yakushima, and traveling alone.
When I arrived at Yakushima Airport, the sun was already setting.
As I was feeling anxious about whether I would easily find my accommodation while heading there by bus, I spoke on the phone with my guide to confirm the tour for the next day.
When I hung up, they cheerfully and kindly said, "Be careful on your way to the accommodation," which made me feel very relieved.

The next morning, when they came to pick me up at the accommodation, they gently taught me how to put on the shoes and gaiters I had purchased for trekking in Yakushima.

The Shiratani tour had a group of seven, but the guide was considerate of each person's condition, subtly attentive, took many photos, and had wonderful storytelling skills (laughs). Thanks to that, we had great teamwork and it was always a fun trekking experience filled with laughter.

It was raining at the start, but the rain stopped along the way, and we were able to enjoy a breathtaking view at Taiko Rock.
The Shiratani Unsuikyo was truly a wonderful place.

初めての屋久島、そして一人旅。
屋久島空港に着くともう日がくれてました。
これから宿にバスで向かおうと、宿の場所すぐわかるかなあと不安な中、翌日のツアーの確認で今回のガイドさんと電話でお話ししました。
電話を切る時に「気をつけて宿に行ってねー」と明るく優しく言ってもらい、とてもホッとしました。

翌朝宿に迎えに来てくれた時には、屋久島トレッキングのために購入したシューズやスパッツの装着法も優しく教えてくれました。

白谷ツアーは７人グループでしたが、ガイドさんは一人一人の状態を考慮しつつ、さりげなく気配りして下さったり写真を沢山撮ってくれたり、そして素晴らしい話術（笑）。そのおかげでチームワーク良く常に楽しく笑いの絶えないトレッキングになりました。

出発時は雨でしたが途中で雨が上がり太鼓岩で絶景を観ることができました。
白谷雲水峡は全てがとても素晴らしいところでした。

I signed up for a two-day course that includes Jomon Sugi, Shiratani Unsuikyo, and Taiko Rock. Fortunately, the weather was clear for both days, which made for great tracking conditions. The Jomon Sugi course became quite challenging for us in our 40s, who usually enjoy cycling and low mountain climbing, especially in the second half. It was easier than climbing Mount Fuji since there was no altitude sickness, but it still left us feeling quite fatigued. Surprisingly, I was able to move well on the second day without carrying over too much fatigue.

The guide moved at a relatively brisk pace, so if you take your time to take photos or relax, the second half can become quite tough. It’s wise to keep up with the guide a bit. The reassuring feeling of being able to gauge the pace and the abundance of learning opportunities are great aspects of this tour.

I was particularly impressed by the guide's extensive knowledge on the second day. They could provide information on plants, mountains, history, geography, society, and local information; you could ask questions and generally receive answers. The guide had a humble and refined tone.

The Shiratani Unsuikyo course was one we could have climbed on our own, but having the guide made it a very meaningful experience. There was a couple in their 60s who were on their first mountain climb, and they arrived safely as well. The pace might have been a bit slower to accommodate them, but that allowed us to take plenty of photos.

With safety, beautiful scenery during the tracking, opportunities to learn, and meeting people, it turned out to be a wonderful trip. Thank you!

縄文杉and白谷雲水峡➕太鼓岩の2日間コースに申し込みました。
幸い2日間晴れていたのでトラッキングにはよい条件でした。縄文杉コースは、40代で日頃サイクリングと低山登山の趣味の我々にも後半はしんどいものになりました。富士登山よりは高山病がない分楽ですが、それでも結構な疲労感ですが、案外2日目に疲れはひきづらず動けました。
ガイドさんは割とサクサクと進む感じはしますか、
写真を撮ったりのんびりしていたら後半がたいへんなことになるので、ちょっと頑張ってガイドさんについていくことが賢明です。
ペースが計れる安心感と学びが多いことが、このツアーのよいところです。

特に2日目のガイドさんの博学ぶりには脱帽です。
植物のこと、山のこと、歴史のこと、地理、社会、地域情報、質問したらだいたい教えてもらえます。
謙虚で品がある口調で
特に白谷雲水は自分たちでも登れるコースでしたが
ガイドさんがいてくれたことで
とても有意義な時間になりました。
2日目のコースは、60代の初登山夫婦もいましたがまんな無事到着しました。おそらくそのご夫婦に合わせて少しペースは遅かったのかもしれないですが、その分写真を沢山とる余裕ができました。

However, Tsugimura-san had an incredible wealth of knowledge about Yakushima and the Yakusugi trees, as well as about the inspiration behind "Princess Mononoke." The conversations were fascinating, and along the way, there were quizzes and games, making the mountain paths anything but boring. In fact, it was a very enjoyable trekking experience!

I also requested photo and video services, and there were plenty of great shooting spots, making it a memorable tour both in memory and record! I am truly grateful to Tsugimura-san for being my guide!

I highly recommend Tsugimura-san as a guide! Since there are aspects of photography and videography that you might overlook, I think it's a good idea to request assistance. For clothing, bright colors like red, yellow, and white, as well as fluorescent colors, work best for photos. Initially, I wore black and navy, which didn't photograph well at all… The early departure at just past 4 AM was quite challenging, and it’s best to go to bed early at night. For snacks, I recommend jelly-like items, as they help with thirst!

出発してから、ホテルに戻るまで、約13時間の工程でした。しかし、津曲さんは、屋久島や屋久杉に関する知識や、モチーフとされているもののけ姫に関する知識がすごく豊富で話が面白く、途中途中、クイズやゲームをしてくださり、全く山道に退屈することなく、むしろ、とても楽しい楽しいトレッキングでした！
写真&動画サービスもお願いしたのですが、撮影ポイントがすごく豊富で、記憶と記録に残るツアーにしていただきました！

服装は、赤や黄色、白色などの明るい色や蛍光色のものがいいです。とても写真映えします。
初めは黒と紺だったので、全く写真映えせずに困りました…。
朝4時過ぎの出発と、とても朝が早くて大変でした…夜は早くて寝るに越したことはないです。
軽食は、喉が乾くので、ゼリー状のものがおススメです！

A week before participating in the trekking tour to Shiratani Unsuikyo (up to Taiko Rock), I developed back pain and started the trek with some anxiety. Thanks to the support of our guide, I was able to trek while taking breaks and listening to various stories about Shiratani Unsuikyo, and I successfully reached Taiko Rock. Thank you, guide.

I wondered if trekking shoes were necessary for the tour, but I ended up purchasing a new pair and participating. I definitely felt they were essential. In many ways, the trekking shoes helped me, and I realized that I shouldn't underestimate mountain climbing.

On the day of the trek, the weather was a bit cloudy, but it cleared up temporarily when we arrived at Taiko Rock, allowing us to see beautiful scenery. It was truly a satisfying day.

白谷雲水峡（太鼓岩まで）トレッキングツアーの参加の１週間前に腰痛になり、不安な気持ちでトレッキングスタートしました。
ガイドさんのサポートもあり、休憩しつつ、かつ、白谷雲水峡に関する色々な話も聞きながらトレッキングできたため、無事に太鼓岩まで完走できました。ガイドさん、ありがとうございます。
トレッキングツアーに、トレッキングシューズが必要なのかなと思いつつも、新品のトレッキングシューズを購入し参加しましたが、やはり、必須だったと感じています。いろんな意味で、トレッキングシューズに助けられ、登山を甘く見てはだめだと実感しています。
当日は、少し曇り模様の天気でしたが、太鼓岩到着時には一時的に天気も良くなり、美しい景色を見ることができ、本当に満足できる一日でした。

I had never gone mountain climbing since I was little, so I joined this tour feeling both anxious and excited. It was about a 12-hour hike to Jomon Sugi, Taiko Rock, and Shiratani Unsuikyo, but I was able to truly experience the great nature of Yakushima, making it the best experience! During the hike, Tsugimura-san taught us various things, and we were able to walk happily while playing games and quizzes. There were breaks along the way, and they adjusted the pace to match the participants, so even as a beginner, I could hike without any difficulty! Additionally, they took many photos and videos for us. The pictures and videos were ones we couldn't have taken ourselves, and even now that the trip is over, I'm still reminiscing about it. It seems that different scenery can be seen depending on the season, so I definitely want to participate again. Thank you very much!

小さい頃以来一度も登山をしたことがなかったので、不安な気持ちとワクワク感を感じながら今回のツアーに参加させて頂きました。

I was unsure whether to hire a guide, but I'm really glad I booked this tour with Tsugimura. I gained a lot of knowledge about Yakushima and experienced attractions that I wouldn't have noticed if I had climbed on my own. During the monotonous paths, we played games and quizzes, and thanks to Tsugimura, we were able to enjoy trekking the whole time. He took many photos and videos, and I'm looking forward to looking back at them after the trip. When I go to Yakushima again, I would like to ask Tsugimura to be my guide. The weather was favorable, and I was able to fully enjoy both Jomon Sugi and Shiratani Unsuikyo without any issues. The view from Taiko Rock, in particular, is exceptional. Since it was an advanced course, my body is definitely sore, but the sense of accomplishment after finishing the climb is truly rewarding. The guide's pacing and explanations were very smooth, making the trekking experience enjoyable from start to finish. Thank you so much for organizing the ambitious course! It has become a wonderful travel memory.

天気にも恵まれ縄文杉と白谷雲水峡をどちらも無事に満喫することができました。特に太鼓岩からの景色は格別です。上級者コースの為案の定身体はバキバキですが、登り終えた時の達成感は一入です。ガイドの方の進行や説明もとてもスムーズで終始楽しくトレッキングができました。欲張りコースを催行してくださり本当にありがとうございました！！とても楽しい旅の思い出となりました。

I was very disappointed with the guide G on the first day (Jomon Sugi). However, the guide Yokota on the second day (Shiratani Unsuikyo) was wonderful, making the unpleasant experience of the first day feel like a distant memory.

Regarding the guide for Jomon Sugi on the first day, we had informed them during the reservation that we (three people) were beginners, but we ended up in a group with three experienced hikers. Despite this, the guide did not show any concern for us from start to finish. I felt that the walking pace was fast from the beginning, and I struggled to keep up. Other groups received explanations, breaks, and warnings about dangerous areas at key points, but G only stopped when he wanted to take pictures (he mentioned he guides Jomon Sugi every other day) and started walking again before we could catch up, resulting in almost no breaks during the two-and-a-half-hour trek along the trolley path. Once we entered the mountain trail, the gap between us and the other participants widened even more, and we finally reached Jomon Sugi with great difficulty.

However, what was unbelievable was the return journey. Without any confirmation or prior notice, the guide decided on the bus departure time (three buses before the last one), and we walked at a pace even faster than before (almost a jog), causing the distance between us and the people in front to increase, sometimes to the point where we could no longer see the guide.

Reading this far, one might think it was just our stubbornness or lack of fitness, but in reality, even the experienced participants often stumbled or struggled to keep up. When we finally arrived at the bus boarding area, the arrival time was exactly when the bus was scheduled to depart. However, we were told there were only six empty seats, and one person could not board. I was left wondering what we had worked so hard for. To make matters worse, we were told that if we didn't want to wait for the next bus (an hour later), we could board this bus and then find our own way back, either by walking or calling a taxi. After such an unpleasant experience, we couldn't bear to wait another hour with the guide, and we had no choice but to take this bus back (of course, we had to cover the taxi fare ourselves).

As part of the tour, we were supposed to have a guide's transportation from the bus to our accommodation, but in the end, there was no transportation provided, and we concluded the tour without any apology for not being able to accommodate everyone on the bus or for the lack of transportation at the end of the day.

The first day turned out to be filled with fatigue and dissatisfaction, and I learned that the satisfaction of the tour can vary greatly depending on the guide.

1日目(縄文杉)のガイドのGさんへの評価が非常にがっかりでした。ただ2日目(白谷雲水峡)のガイドのヨコタさんは素晴らしいアテンドだったので1日目の嫌な思いをなかったことにできるくらい良い思い出になりました。

1日目の縄文杉のガイドさんについてですが、予約時に私たち(3人)は初心者とお伝えしていたものの同じグループになったのは経験者の方々(3人)。それでも、ガイドさんは最初から最後まで私たちを気遣うことはありませんでした。
最初から歩くペースが早いなとは感じており、なんとかついていく状況。他のグループは要所要所で説明や休憩、危ない場所の注意喚起などされていましたが、Gさんはご自身が写真を撮りたい時(2日に1回は縄文杉のガイドをしているそうです)のみ立ち止まり、私たちが追いつく前に歩き出してしまうのでほぼほぼ休憩がないまま2時間半のトロッコ道は終わりました。いよいよ山道に入ると、私たちと他の方々の間が益々空いていき、不安なままやっとの思いで縄文杉まで到着しました。
しかし信じられなかったのは復路です。
私たち含め参加者全員の希望があったわけでも無いのに何の確認や予告もなくバスの乗車時間をガイドさんが決めており(最終バスの3本前)、往路以上のペース(競歩以上、ほぼ小走り)で歩くため前の人とどんどん間隔が空いていき、ガイドの方が見えなくなるくらい距離ができてしまうときもありました。

ここまでの文章を読むとただの私たちの我が儘や運動不足が原因かと思えてしまいがちですが、実際、参加者の経験者の方々も足を踏み外したりついていけない状況もしばしば。やっとの思いでバスの乗車場所に着くとなんと到着時間はバス出発時刻ちょうど。しかし、空席は6席と言われ、1名のみ乗れない状況となりました。何のために必死で食らいついてきたのかわからなくなってしまいました。挙句の果てに次のバス(1時間後)を待つのが嫌なら、このバスに乗って、そこから先は自分達で歩くなりタクシーを呼ぶなり自力で帰るなら先に乗っても良いと言われる始末。こんな不愉快な思いをして、さらに1時間ガイドさんと一緒に待つなんて耐えられず、疲れ切った私たちはこのバスに乗って帰る以外の選択肢はありませんでした。(もちろんタクシー代は自己負担)
ツアーとして、バスから先は宿泊先までガイドの方の送迎が付くはずでしたが、結果送迎がないままツアー終了となり、特に最後まで送迎ができない、かつバスに全員乗れなかったことに対してのお詫びも一切なく1日目の縄文杉ツアーを終えました。

疲れや不満など色んな感情が溜まるばかりの1日目となってしまい、今回の体験でガイドさんによってかなりツアーの満足度が変わることを学びました。
