The day I participated, it rained 97% of the time, which was a bit disappointing, but I was glad I joined the tour because of the rain.
- The guide gave advice on when to wear a raincoat! The basic idea is to use an umbrella to protect your upper body and a raincoat for your lower body. If you wear a raincoat on your upper body from the start, it gets hot and you won't have the stamina to walk all day...
- For lunch, they set up a tarp to shield us from the rain! It was pouring heavily, and I was wondering how we would eat, but thanks to the guide setting up the tarp, we were able to eat without getting wet! I was really grateful for that!
- The guide shared interesting facts about Yakusugi and Yakushima, which kept my spirits up while walking.

The guide was very cheerful, and I was able to enjoy the walk. I'm glad I signed up for the tour.
(I recommend bringing a simple change of clothes for the return trip, as your clothes will be soaked from the Yakusugi, and you might get cold on the bus!)

参加した日は、歩く時間の97％は雨という日で少し残念だなと思ったいたのですが、雨だったからこそツアーに参加してよかったと思いました。
・カッパを着るタイミングやアドバイスをしてくれる！基本は傘をさして上半身を守る、下半身はカッパがオススメ、最初から上半身カッパだと暑くて１日歩き通すための体力がなくなる…などなど
・お昼はタープで雨よけをしてくれた！お昼はザーザー降りの雨でどうやって昼を食べようかと思っていましたが、ガイドさんがタープを張ってくれたおかげで、雨に濡れず食べられました！かなりありがたかったです！
・屋久杉や屋久島の豆知識を教えてくれるので、元気に歩けました。

とても明るいガイドさんで、楽しく歩き通せました。ツアーに申し込んでよかったです。
（屋久杉の帰りは服がびしょびしょなため帰りのバスで体を冷やしてしまうので、簡単な着替えを持っていくのをお勧めします！！）

The texture of the moss felt great. Surrounded by overwhelming nature, I was able to spend a relaxing time. I was able to hear a lot of recommendations for shops that aren't on the internet from the guide, making it a fulfilling trip.

Despite being hit by a series of typhoons before and after the tour, it was conducted as planned due to the timing of the schedule.

Essential items for this plan are a flashlight, an umbrella, and a raincoat. First, for about the first hour of the climb, it is completely dark, and without a flashlight, you won't be able to see anything. Additionally, Yakushima is famous for its frequent rain, so an umbrella is a must. I don't recommend a raincoat too much because you might get dehydrated from the humidity. Besides, you'll get wet anyway. The umbrella is to avoid losing body heat from being continuously drenched in rain, so it's ideal to move with a flashlight on your head and an umbrella in one hand.

During my participation, the weather was mostly rainy with occasional clouds and brief moments of sunshine. It might have been different without the typhoons, but I had received information that Yakushima is a rainy island, so I interpret it as typical weather for Yakushima. Still, walking through the mossy forest was refreshing and enjoyable. Of course, fatigue comes later, but the experience of trekking in Yakushima, a place you won't visit many times in your life, was wonderful.

このプランで確実に必要なアイテムは、ライトと傘、カッパですね。
まず、登り始め1時間程度は真っ暗でライトがなければ何も見えません。
さらに屋久島は雨がよく降る島でも有名な為、同時に傘は必須です。
カッパは蒸し暑さで脱水しかねないのであまりお勧めしません。というかどうせ濡れます。
雨に打たれ続けて体温を奪われるのを避ける為の傘なので、頭にライト、片手に傘の状態で動くことが望ましいです。

実際、私の参加時も終始雨時々曇り、時々晴れ間、みたいな天気が続いておりました。台風がなければまた違うのかもしれませんが、雨がよく降る島という情報は得ていたので、通常運転の屋久島お天気事情だったのだと解釈しています。
それでも、苔生す森の中を歩いていると涼しげで歩いているだけで楽しかったです。
疲れは当然後からついてきますが、人生でそう何回も行かないであろう屋久島でトレッキングができた経験はステキなものでした。

It was my first trekking experience, but it was almost free-form.

We shared a ride with another group to the trailhead, but the guide didn't introduce themselves. Even when the trek began, they walked silently without looking back. At first, I thought that was just how it was, but the guides from the other group were providing clear guidance and discussing points to consider while walking.

Even when there were sights to see, I was only told, "This is ◯◯. Take a picture," and I ended up eavesdropping on the other group's guide.

On the way back, we encountered quite heavy rain, and even though it was a single path, I felt quite anxious being left behind. They probably didn't even notice when I fell. During the three-hour journey back, we only had one break.

初トレッキング でしたが、ほぼフリーでした。

他のグループと乗り合いで登山口まで向かいましたが、ガイドさんは名乗りもせず。
登山が始まっても後ろを振り向く事なく黙々と歩くのみ。
最初はそういうものかと思ってましたが、他のグループのガイドさんはキッチリとガイドされ、歩く際のポイントも話されてました。

見所があっても「はい◯◯です。写真撮ってね」と言われるのみで、他のグループのガイドさんの話を盗み聞きしてました。

帰りはかなり激しく雨に合い、一本道とはいえ放って行かれたのはかなり不安でした。
恐らく私がこけたのも全く気づいてません。
3時間の道のりで帰りの休憩は1回だけでした。

I participated in a half-day course that included canoeing in Iriomote Island and trekking to a waterfall. It lasted from around 9 AM to 2 PM. They provided shoes and hats, and as long as I brought a towel, I could also take a shower (which is paid), making it easy to join.

Our guide, Aya, was very informative, explaining the surrounding flora and fauna during the canoeing and trekking, as well as the importance of typhoons. It was very clear and interesting. I would like to try the full-day course next time!

西表島カヌーと滝壺までのトレッキング、半日コースに参加しました。大体9時から14時くらいまでです。
靴も帽子も貸していただき、タオルさえ持って行けばシャワー（これは有料）もあり、身軽に参加できました。
ガイドのあやさんはカヌー上&トレッキング時も周りの動植物の案内や、台風の必要性について教えてくださるなど、大変わかりやすく、興味深かったです。

Since a typhoon was approaching, I thought the scenery might not be great, but at the cape and Daishi Forest Park, we were able to enjoy clear weather and have a wonderful experience.

I was focused on trekking, so it was a good decision to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. For my first trekking experience, I chose the 60-minute course. Surrounded by nature, I was able to move my body a lot!

After that, we had three hours at the aquarium, which was enough time to explore thoroughly. Thank you to the tour guide and the bus driver for your hard work during the long hours. Thank you very much.

台風が近づいてた中での参加だったので、あまり景色は良くないんだろうな～と思いつつでしたが、岬や大石林山では晴れてのびのびと体験することができました。

トレッキングが目当てだったので、動きやすい服装や靴で行って正解でした。
初めてのトレッキングは60分コースを選びました。自然に囲まれながら、たくさん身体を動かせました！

その後の水族園も三時間時間を取ってくれてたので充分回ることができました。

Since it was my first trekking experience, I requested a guide. They were very kind and adjusted to our pace. I rented shoes and a stick, and I received advice that one stick is sufficient; indeed, having two might be cumbersome while holding on. I think it's a perfect course for beginners. I would definitely like to do this again.

The guide was terrible.
While it's nice that they took breaks, they occupied the best spots for themselves and suddenly said, "We're leaving," starting to walk away even if there were people who weren't ready. They kept pestering a young girl about what she would do after the tour...
I think I was just unlucky because the other guides from the same company were all very considerate, offering words of encouragement and checking on the situation.

On August 6th, at my son's request, who will be a high school freshman, we participated in a tour together and had the opportunity to see the Jomon Sugi for the first time in our lives. We were blessed with good weather, and thanks to our private guide, Iwakawa-san, who provided thorough explanations, appropriate advice, and clever jokes, we were able to enjoy the tour with peace of mind. Along the route, there were several water sources, and the taste was exceptional, giving us the energy to walk. The instant miso soup prepared by Iwakawa-san for lunch was also fantastic. The Jomon Sugi, which we had been looking forward to, was as magnificent as we had expected, and the couple cedar and the giant cedar were also impressively powerful. My son said he had an amazing time. I look forward to the day when my son has a family of his own and invites them to visit this place together with the Jomon Sugi.

8月6日に高1になる息子の望みもあり親子2人でツアーに参加し、人生初となる縄文杉を拝んできました。天候にも恵まれ、貸切りガイドの岩川さんの丁寧な説明と適切なアドバイス、巧妙なジョークで終始安心してツアーを楽しむことが出来ました。ルート沿いには水場が点在しその美味しさは格別で歩く力がわいてきます。岩川さんが用意されたお昼の即席みそ汁も最高でした。お目当ての縄文杉は予想どおり素晴らしいものでしたが夫婦杉、大王杉等々それぞれに迫力十分でした。息子も最高に楽しかったと言ってくれました。いつの日か息子が家族を持ち、縄文杉に招かれ家族と一緒にこの地を訪れることを楽しみにしています。

I participated with my elementary school son. The guide was lively and friendly, and although she was cute, she drove like a pro. I was amazed by her extensive knowledge of nature; she really knows the jungle inside and out.

They provide all the equipment, so you can join wearing just a swimsuit and a rash guard. The sun is intense, so a hat is essential, but if you forget one, they will lend you one.

Kayaking was easier than I expected, and we leisurely paddled through scenery reminiscent of the Amazon River. Just this experience alone made it worth participating.

We saw the mystical mangrove forest, along with many TonTonMi and ShioManeki.

After about 40 minutes, we headed deeper into the jungle towards a waterfall, which was quite challenging. It shouldn't be a problem for healthy individuals, but it might be tough for those with bad legs or the elderly. The guide was very knowledgeable about where to step and the dangerous spots, providing careful instructions, but overall, the pace was quite fast, so it was somewhat demanding. Expect to frequently navigate elevation changes of 40 to 50 cm. It was rare to see so many creatures in the jungle, and since the guide was knowledgeable, she taught us everything. It was a valuable experience for the kids.

After sweating a lot, we arrived at the PinaiSara waterfall. Standing right under the 50-meter waterfall was breathtaking! Plus, we could play in the cool pool below and wash off the sweat, which felt amazing.

After cooling off, we had lunch. The guide had carried lunch for everyone. We had two large rice balls, fried chicken, and a boiled egg. It was incredibly delicious and just what our tired bodies needed.

After playing a bit at the waterfall, we returned the same way along the river.

By around 2 PM, we returned to Monsoon, and since I was heading back to Ishigaki, I was able to catch the 2:30 PM ferry. The guide was very efficient in managing the detailed schedule of the half-day course. However, since it was a busy season, there wasn't much time to prepare (the waterfall gets crowded), so the overall pace was quick. Be well-prepared before joining.

My son really liked the guide and said he definitely wants to participate again! (laughs)

小学生の息子と二人で参加しました。ガイドのお姉さんは快活、気さくな方で、可愛らしいのに運転は男勝り、なにより自然の知識が豊富で驚かされました。ジャングルを知り尽くしてます。
道具は全て貸してくれるので、水着とラッシュガードで参加できます。日差しがすごいので帽子は必須で、忘れた場合はこちらも貸してくれます。
カヤックは思ったより簡単で、アマゾン川のような景色の中をのんびりと進んで行きます。もうこれだけで参加して良かったと思いました。
マングローブの神秘的な森や、トントンミー、シオマネキが沢山見れます。

40分くらい進むと、そこからはジャングルを滝目指して進んで行きますが、結構ハードです。健常者なら問題ありませんが、足が悪い人やお年寄りは厳しいのではないでしょうか。ガイドさんは足の掛け場所や危ない場所など熟知していて丁寧に教えてくれますが、全体として進むスピードが早めなのでそれなりに大変です。4〜50cmの高低差を頻繁に越えると思ってください。ジャングルでも珍しく生き物が沢山見れて、しかもガイドさんが詳しいので何でも教えてくれます。子供には貴重な体験です。

汗をたっぷりかいた所でピナイサーラの滝に到着。50mの滝の真下は圧巻！更にその冷たい滝壺で遊んで汗を流せます。これが最高に気持ちいいです。
汗を流した所でランチ。ガイドさんが全員分のお弁当を担いでくれてたんですね。大きなオニギリ２つと唐揚げ、ゆで卵。これがもう、疲れた身体に最高に美味しかったです。
滝で少し遊んで、同じ道、川を戻ります。

モンスーンに戻って14時位、自分は石垣に戻るので14時半の定期船に乗れました。
半日コースの緻密なスケジュールを、テキパキこなすガイドのお姉さんはとても優秀です。
ただ繁忙期という事もありゆっくり準備している余裕はない（滝が混んでしまう）ので、全体として進捗は早めです。準備は万端で参加しましょう。
息子はガイドのお姉さんがえらく気に入ったそうで、また必ず参加すると息巻いてました（笑）

I was told to call upon arrival, and although I had requested the rental online in advance, I was informed that I couldn't rent it and was asked to borrow from another store.

Even though I paid a high price to rent from another store, I suddenly received a call in the afternoon saying that I could rent it after all. I was quite surprised that there was no apology at all, even after I informed them that I had already rented from another store.

However, the guide on the day was wonderful, and since it was a small group trekking experience, we were able to enjoy the scenery of Shiratani Unsuikyo together in a friendly atmosphere.

I recommend going to Shiratani Unsuikyo early in the morning when there are fewer people.

まず、バウチャーに書いてあるピックアップ時間と違うことで若干トラブルになりました。(バウチャーには8時、実際は早朝5時)

到着したら電話するように言われており、レンタルのお願いをネットで事前にしていたのに、レンタルできないから他の店で借りてほしいと言われました。

他の店で高いお金を払って借りたのに、結局午後になって突然レンタルできると連絡がきて、
すでに他店でレンタルしたことを伝えても一言も謝罪がない対応にはかなり驚きました。

しかし、当日のガイドさんのガイドは素晴らしく、少人数でのトレッキングでしたので参加者同士和気藹々と白谷雲水峡の景色を楽しむことができました。

白谷雲水峡には人数が少ない早朝から行くのがオススメです。

I participated in a three-day trip to Yakushima on the third day. I wanted to not only visit Jomon Sugi and Shiratani Unsuikyo but also explore various places on the island, so I chose an early morning course to make the most of my time.

The meeting time was communicated by the guide the day before. (In my case, it was 5:45 AM in the lobby. It seems to vary depending on the number of participants and the weather.)

During the drive, I enjoyed a beautiful sunrise while having breakfast as we headed to the entrance of Shiratani Unsuikyo. Since it was early morning, there were few people, and I could stroll leisurely while listening to the guide's explanations. There were some steep mountain paths along the way, but that made the sense of achievement even greater when I finally reached Taiko Rock.

On the way there, we moved at a slow pace while taking photos, and on the way back, the guide adjusted the pace to ensure we could descend before it got too crowded. Thanks to that, I was able to do a lot of sightseeing in the afternoon as well.

I am very satisfied.

３泊４日の屋久島旅の３日目に参加しました。縄文杉や白谷雲水峡だけでなく、レンタカーを借りて、島内の様々な場所を観光したかったので、時間を有効に活用できる早朝からのコースを選びました。
集合時刻については、前日に、担当ガイドさんから連絡があります。（私の場合は、５時45分にロビーでした。人数や天候などによって、変わるそうです。）

I thoroughly enjoyed the Jomon Sugi trekking experience. Our guide, Seiji Osawa, was very kind and had extensive knowledge about Yakushima, allowing us to enjoy conversations while trekking, and we managed to complete the challenging route. The named cedars, including Jomon Sugi, as well as the unnamed plants, the scenic mountains and rivers, and each deer and monkey became unforgettable memories.

In addition to providing detailed explanations, our guide also offered us miso soup, a tea break by the river, and lent us a mat (a simple cushion) during our rest stops. Furthermore, he proactively took photos for us, and I believe we received the best service. I later found out that our guide is also a freelance photographer who has published a photo book, which I think was very lucky for us.

As mentioned, a day trip is certainly not easy (especially during the summer like this time), and as the guide said, "the guide gets tired too." However, older adults and children under elementary school age were able to meet Jomon Sugi, and I believe that if you approach it with the right mindset, you can create wonderful memories.

とても親切で屋久島について豊富な知識を持ったガイドさん（大沢成二さん）で、会話を楽しみながらトレッキングでき、決して楽ではない行程もクリアできました。
縄文杉ほか名前の付いた杉は勿論、名もない草木や山河の景色、鹿や猿の１つ１つが忘れられない思い出になりました。
ガイドさんには丁寧な説明のほか、お味噌汁のサービス、川に下りてのティーブレイク、休憩時の下敷き（簡易クッション）を貸していただきました。さらに率先して写真を撮ってもらえ、最高のサービスを受けたと思います。後から調べて分かりましたが、ガイドさんは写真集を出されたこともあるフリーカメラマンでもあり、とてもラッキーだったと思います。
上述したように、日帰りツアーは（特に今回のような夏場は）決して楽ではありませんが（ガイドさん曰く「ガイドも疲れる」）、年配の方や小学生以下の子どもさんも縄文杉との対面を実現しており、それなりの覚悟をもって臨めばとてもよい思い出を作れると思います。

On August 7th, I participated in the Jomon Sugi tour (private) with a friend from university. It was a tour with three men, and our guide was in his mid-30s, 15 years younger than us, but he had extensive work and stay experience both overseas and domestically. We had a great time sharing stories, and even though he had only been in Yakushima for six months, he was very knowledgeable about the area! His knowledge of plants was impressive as well. We engaged in a wide range of topics, from sociology, human behavior, philosophy, economics, and geography to local shop information, chatting all the way there and back. The flat trolley path on the way back was never boring, and it truly became a fun tour. We were both very satisfied! While the beauty of nature, like Jomon Sugi and the Wilson stump, can be enjoyed without a tour, the interesting conversations and the thoughtful gestures of taking photos at key points make the tour highly recommended! I boldly signed up for a greedy course tour to visit Shiratani Unsuikyo and Jomon Sugi in Yakushima for the first time in one day. I’m not particularly fit, and my climbing experience is limited to just two low mountains... While I had expectations, my anxiety was greater. However, I was fortunate with the weather, and I was able to enjoy walking for about 11 hours while learning various things from our guide!! I was moved by everything!! I truly feel that choosing this course was the right decision (^^) It's a lifelong memory ♡

It was very tough, but the guide shared various stories while we were climbing, which made it really enjoyable! A friend who got tired along the way had the guide stay with them and help them descend, and it seems they shared a lot of little stories during that time, making it a very fun experience.

However, some guides didn't talk much, which was a bit disappointing.

That said, the Wilson stock was really cute, and I truly felt it was worth climbing.

During my 2-night, 3-day trip, I wanted to visit Shiratani Unsuikyo, so I used a tour. The nature of Yakushima is amazing. The scale is so vast that it made me realize how small I am, haha.

The guide who accompanied us provided detailed explanations about the trees, plants, and often overlooked points. Also, when you think of Shiratani Unsuikyo, you think of Studio Ghibli's "Princess Mononoke," right? In fact, that's one of the reasons I was drawn to visit, and the guide thoroughly explained that as well. I was very satisfied!

When descending, we retraced our steps, but the scenery changes quite a bit, so it never gets boring. Additionally, it can be affected by the weather, but for example, the view after a rain shower when the sun shines through is simply too beautiful...

And during our descent, I was lucky enough to encounter a Yakushima deer! I really hope you get to experience this emotion!

2泊3日の旅行で、白谷雲水峡に行ってみたいなと思いツアーを利用しました。屋久島の自然って凄いですね。スケールがとても大きくて、自分がどれだけちっぽけな存在なのかを思い知らされました笑

I'm glad I chose the one-day hiking tour! The guide was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna, and the whole day flew by! I recommend spending the entire day, not just at Shiretoko Five Lakes. Walking through the primeval forest on unmarked paths was a wonderful mix of excitement and the refreshing feeling of forest bathing.

The guide's talk wasn't very interesting, and since we were moving in a group, I felt like I had to take many breaks and wanted to proceed at my own pace. I was also disappointed because the price was high. It was a course that could have easily been done without a guide, which made me feel even more that way.

ガイドさんの話があまり面白くなかったのと複数で動くのでしょうがないですが休みが多くて自分のペースで進みたいと思ってしまいました。値段も高いのでがっかりです。ガイド無しでも全然行けるコースだったので尚更そう思いました。

Thank you for sharing your experience. Ultimately, the decision to have a guide or not is up to the customer. If you prefer to walk at your own pace, I recommend climbing all the mountains without a guide next time. On Yakushima, half of the climbers go with a guide while the other half do not.

This time it was a challenge for the whole family! As the rain continued and a typhoon approached, our veteran guide said, "The rain-soaked Jomon Sugi and the snow-covered Jomon Sugi are equally mystical, so you are very lucky." With that remark, our trekking began. We walked endlessly along the trolley path, and once we finally finished it, the real mountain trail started!

I wondered if my youngest daughter, who is in elementary school, would be okay as we started walking, and after a tough three hours, we finally arrived at Jomon Sugi! Considering the well-maintained path we took, I couldn't help but think about how the first person to discover Jomon Sugi made it here. The mountain trail was truly thought-provoking. I was simply amazed by the scale of it all. The guide said, "Next time, please come on a snowy day! It's better than a sunny day!" With that, our descent began. The return trip was harder than the way up! Everyone's knees were shaking. (laughs) Next time, I definitely want to go on a snowy day.

今回家族全員でのチャレンジでした！雨が降り続き、台風が近づく中でベテランのガイドさんが一言…「雨の縄文杉と雪の縄文杉が甲乙付けがたいくらい神秘的なんで非常にラッキーですよ」と。その一言からトレッキングがスタートしました。トロッコ道を延々と歩き、やっとトロッコ道が終わったらそこからが本当の山道でした！
小学生の三女でも大丈夫かなと思いながら歩き始めて、やっとの思い3時間強で遂に縄文杉に到着！整備された道を上ってきたことを考えると初めて縄文杉を見つけた人は此処までどうやってきたのかな？と考えさせられるほどの山道でした。とにかくスケールの大きさにただただ感動でした。ガイドさんは「次は雪の日に来て下さい！晴れてる日よりも雪の日です！」この一言をスタートに下山が始まりました。行きよりも帰りの方がハード！全員膝がガクガクでした。(笑)今度は、是非雪の日に行きたいと思います。

My 61-year-old self and my daughter, both lacking in exercise, participated in our long-awaited Jomon Sugi trekking. We were worried about our stamina and pacing over the long route, so we didn't hesitate to request a private guide. Our guide, Mr. Yabuta, provided meticulous support from early morning until evening, allowing us to enjoy the trekking without any anxiety. You carried a much larger backpack than us, and I’m sure it contained warm miso soup, a pot for coffee, and various equipment to prepare for any unexpected situations we might encounter! This time, I participated in a half-day trekking tour of Shiratani Unsuikyo, which was highly recommended. I almost had to cancel the tour due to a misunderstanding about the ferry schedule, but since we were the only participants, they adjusted the schedule and we were able to leave early.

The guide seemed to be conversing with the trees, leaves, moss, rocks, and water as we walked, which allowed us to naturally blend in and made the challenging journey feel pleasant. I learned a lot about geography and history, and the guide was very considerate, giving us space to enjoy nature while also taking great photos at the scenic spots. It was a wonderful experience that made me reflect deeply on living in harmony with nature. I am very satisfied! I would love to participate in this tour again. Thank you!

今回は半日白谷雲水峡〜太鼓判のトレッキングツアーに参加しました。
フェリーの時間を勘違いしておりツアーを泣く泣くキャンセルするところでしたが、たまたま参加者が私たちだけだったため早く出発するなど調整していただけました。
ガイドさんは樹、葉、苔、岩、水と会話しながら歩いているようでこちらも自然と溶け込めて険しい道のりも心地よく感じました。
地理や歴史などたくさん勉強できましたし、私たちが自然に癒されている時間はそっとしてくださったり、写真スポットではバッチリ映えるような写真を撮ってくださるなどすごく出来たガイドさんでした。自然と共に生きていくという深いことを自然と考えさせられたいい時間でした。大満足です！またこちらのツアー参加したいです。ありがとうございました。

I participated with my fifth-grade child.
The round trip of 22 kilometers was indeed long.
I don't think we could have completed it without the guide.
Along the way, we took many photos and received explanations about the history,
which made the trekking enjoyable even amidst the challenges.
The miso soup during lunch warmed my heart.
Since it was early in the morning, it was convenient to reach the Arakawa Trailhead without transfers.

往復22キロの道のりはやっぱり長い。
ガイドさんがいなければ完歩はできなかったと思います。
道すがら、写真をたくさん撮ってもらい歴史も説明してもらい、
つらい中にも楽しくトレッキングできました。
昼食時の味噌汁は心までほっこり温まりました。
早朝なので荒川登山口まで乗り換えなしも便利でした。
