Thanks to our guide, my dream of visiting Jomon Sugi came true! 縄文杉ツァー、ガイドさんのお陰で夢が叶いました！

This time, we were a family of four, with our youngest being a 9-year-old child. I thought that in a large tour, we would be a burden, so I requested a dedicated guide. I also hoped that the children would be properly taught about the nature of this mountain. As a result, we had a veteran guide, and it was a great success! I truly think it was a great choice. Once we started walking, the children, whom I was worried about, had no concerns at all, while I (the mother), who was lacking in exercise, was encouraged throughout. On April 3, 2018, we went snorkeling in the Kerama Islands. The weather was great, and the sea was calm, making the one-hour ride on the cruiser to the snorkeling points enjoyable with the beautiful gradient of emerald green and blue waters. Our family of four was on our first trip to Okinawa, and this snorkeling experience was the first event. Thankfully, there was no seasickness, and at the first point, we received some important instructions from our guide before starting the snorkeling. The colors and clarity of the water were clearly different from those in Honshu, and we were thrilled to observe the fish and coral. At the second point, we even spotted clownfish and a sea snake. Unfortunately, our younger child couldn't handle the cold and had to temporarily retire back to the boat, but after eating lunch on the cruiser, we regained our energy. When we asked the guide about throwing leftover lunch into the sea, large fish came close, and the kids were delighted again. At the final point, not only did we see the sea turtles we had hoped for, but we also had the rare opportunity to see a manta ray, which was truly wonderful. Above all, our guide was friendly and kind, making the kids very happy.

2018/4/3慶良間諸島シュノーケリングに行きました。当日は天候も良く海も穏やかでクルーザーに乗ってポイントまで約1時間の移動もエメラルドグリーン/青い海のグラデーションで子供たちも大喜び、家族4人の初めての沖縄旅行で一番初めのイベントがこのシュノーケリング。心配した船酔いも無く、初めのポイントでまずは海の中でガイドさんから諸注意を受て慶良間諸島シュノーケリング開始、海の色や透明度は本州とは明らかに違い感激しながら、おさかなやサンゴ鑑賞、2つ目のポイントではニモやウミヘビも出現も、残念ながら下の子が寒さに耐えきれず、一旦リタイヤで船に戻るトラブルもありましたが、クルーザーの上でお弁当を食べ元気復活、ガイドさんに聞いて残したお弁当を船の上から海に投げると大きな魚が寄って来て、子供たちはまた大喜びでした。最後のポイントでは期待していたウミガメだけでなくガイドさんも滅多に見れないアカマンタ（アカエイ）も見ることが出来本当に良かったです。そして何よりガイドさんが気さくで優しく子供たちも大喜びでした。

When I went to Okinawa, I really wanted to visit the "Blue Cave," so I compared various shops and decided on this one. The deciding factors were that they provided a one-on-one instructor and took photos for us, which they put on a CD. It was great for us since we tend to be lazy and don't take many pictures.

On the day of the visit, there were so many people! I was surprised. I was told that this was actually less crowded for a weekday, and while waiting, I chatted with the instructor, so it wasn't too painful.

沖縄に行ったらどーしても「青の洞窟」に行ってみたかったので、色々あるショップを比較してここに決めました。
決め手は、マンツーマンでインストラクターがついてくれるとのことと、写真を撮ってCDにしてくれるとのこと。
めんどくさがってあまり写真を撮らない私たちには良かったです。

当日凄い人人人！びっくり
これでも平日だから少ないとのこと、インストラクターさんと話しながら待っていて、そう苦痛ではなかったです。

At first, I wasn't confident in my physical strength, so I thought it might be okay to just go to the mossy forest, but I'm really glad I decided to go all the way to Taiko Rock! The view from the top of Taiko Rock was amazing! Since I had gone on the Jomon Sugi tour the day before, this tour felt short and easy in comparison.

I participated alone and wasn't confident in my physical strength, but I was able to go all the way and come back!

Unlike other tours, we traveled to the trailhead by a dedicated vehicle, so I could sleep on the way (although I was too captivated by the starry night sky outside the window to actually sleep…). It was great that we weren't rushed on the way back either, so I could relax. The guide was a very kind and friendly young person.

Before reaching Jomon Sugi, there are many impressive cedar trees, which made Jomon Sugi seem a bit overshadowed, but the mystical atmosphere of Jomon Sugi is still unmatched. The sense of achievement is incredible!!

There were various people climbing, from small children to the elderly, so if you're a bit worried, why not give it a try? (^ -^)

１人参加で、体力にも自信がなかったのですが、最後まで行って帰って来られました！

他のツアーと違って、登山口まで専用車で行くので、行きは車内で寝られるし(でも、車内から見た夜空の満点の星に夢中で実際は寝られず…)、帰りも時間を気にせず急かされないのでとても良かったです。ガイドさんはとても優しく親切な若い方でした。

縄文杉にたどり着く前にたくさんの立派な杉があるので、縄文杉がかすんでしまう位でしたが、やはり神秘的な雰囲気は縄文杉が勝ります。ものすごい達成感がありますよ！！

For those who are going soon, I think it would be smooth to purchase round-trip bus tickets in advance at the tourist center.

The veteran guide was amazing! They provided clear explanations while mixing in puns and little anecdotes. Not only did they explain the Yakusugi trees, but they also shared a lot about various plants like flowers and moss. They were attentive to our pace and stamina, and looking back, I feel they offered a lot of encouragement during the monotonous stretches of the trolley path.

There were so many recommended photo spots from the guide, and each time I handed over my camera, I thought it might have been better to just let them keep it, as they took so many great shots. At the start, I was worried about whether I could keep up this pace, but with breaks for restroom stops and resting with our backpacks at key points, I think they did a great job of helping us refresh our spirits.

At the spring water refill points, they always checked in with us, and the miso soup they made for lunch was fantastic. Even though it was hot enough to make us sweat, drinking warm miso soup was so comforting. I was grateful they brought a thermos for that.

While our goal was to see Jomon Sugi, every sight along the way and the journey itself became truly wonderful memories. I want to visit Yakushima again, and I would love to request the same guide for a tour of different locations. Thank you so much!

Lastly, about the weather and clothing:

There were some cloudy moments, but it was mostly sunny. It wasn't cold at all. It seems that until last week, it was cold enough for snow to remain, but warm days without rain have continued. Because of this, the flowers seemed to start blooming early.

- Collared long-sleeve shirt (I wanted to take it off at one point)
- Sleeveless fleece (I took it off right at the first break)
- Waterproof outer layer
- Under tights
- Trekking pants

ベテランガイドさんは最高でいた！
ダジャレや小ネタを挟みながらも、要所要所できちんとした解説。屋久杉だけでなく草花や苔等の植物の解説も沢山して頂きました。
私たちのペース、体力も気に掛けて頂き、後から考えると単調に続くトロッコ道での解説、声掛けが特に多かったように思います。
写真もガイドさんお勧めポイントがとても沢山あって、その度にカメラを渡すのですが、ずっと預けていた方が良いのではないかと思うほど沢山撮って頂きました。
歩き始めた時はこのペースでずっと歩けるのかと不安になりましたが、トイレ休憩も含めザックを下ろしての休憩も要所要所であり、私たちを上手く気分転換させてくれていたと思います。
湧き水の給水ポイントでは必ず声掛けをして頂きましたし、お昼ご飯の時に作って頂いたお味噌汁はサイコーでした。汗をいっぱいかくほど暑いのに温かいお味噌汁を飲むとホッとしました。そのための保温水筒を背負ってきてくれていたと思うと感謝でした。
縄文杉を見に行く事が目的でしたが、見るもの全て、そこに至るまでの行程が本当に素敵な思い出になりました。
また屋久島に来たいと思いましたし、また今日のガイドさんにお願いして違う場所を巡りたいと思えるツアーでした。
本当にありがとうございました。

最後に天候と服装です。

曇るときもありましたが概ね晴れ。
寒くはなかったです。
先週まで雪も残るほど寒かったとは思えないほど、雨も降らず暖かい日が続いていたそうです。そのため花も早く咲き始めていたようでした。

It's very convenient as they efficiently take you to a location that is quite inconvenient to reach by public transportation. However, it is still far, so the time is tight. There is one hour of free time at the Oishi Forest Park and two hours at the Churaumi Aquarium. At Oishi Forest Park, I hurriedly walked two courses. If I had a little more time, I could have walked more leisurely... At the Churaumi Aquarium, two hours is enough if you're just visiting the aquarium, but it was impossible to go to other facilities. For lunch, you choose one main dish from five options, and the sides were served buffet-style. It was delicious.

公共交通機関で行くにはとても不便な場所を効率良く連れて行ってくれるので便利です。ただ、やはり遠いので時間がパンパンです。大石林山で１時間、美ら海水族館で２時間の自由時間があります。大石林山は急ぎ足で２コース歩きました。もう少し時間があればゆっくり歩けたのですが…。美ら海水族館は水族館だけなら２時間で大丈夫ですが、他の施設に行くのは無理でした。昼食はメインを５種類の中から１品選び、サイドはビュッフェ形式でした。美味しく戴きました。

Thank you so much for allowing me to participate, even though I signed up the day before. Thanks to you, I had a wonderful time.

Specifically, the guide's stories were very interesting, and I was thrilled to experience Okinawan culture. I was especially amazed to see gobies and crabs up close for the first time, watching a goby run across the water's surface. After paddling hard in the kayak, it felt great to let the river's current take me while a pleasant breeze blew.

On the way back after the event, I even encountered a cute mongoose! I highly recommend this experience to anyone considering participating. I think it's a good idea to bring a change of clothes.

前日の申し込みでしたが、参加させて頂いて、本当にありがとうございました。おかげ様で、楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。

具体的には、ガイドさんのお話が非常におもしろく、沖縄の文化に触れることができたことと、ハゼやカニを実際に見ることができて感激したこと（はじめて、ハゼが水面を走る様子を身近に見ました）、一生懸命にカヤックを漕いだ後は川の流れに任せ、心地い風が吹いて気持ちがよかったこと、などです。

解散後の帰り道で、かわいいマングースにも会いました♪

We participated as a family of three this time. Since it was March, I was a bit worried that the sea might still be a little cold, but it wasn't too cold while wearing the wetsuits. Before entering the water, the instructor provided a thorough explanation, which made me feel at ease about going into the sea. We did snorkeling and diving. When I put my face in the water while snorkeling, it felt like I was in an aquarium. The clownfish peeking out from between the corals were so cute, and I was so happy to feel like I met "Nemo." During the diving, the three of us, along with the instructor, went deep underwater. It was fun, as if I had become a fish. Since it was my first time, I was a bit anxious, but after listening to the instructor's explanation and actually diving, I felt excited and had a great time. It was the best experience.

In the morning, we were picked up before 8 AM and headed to a shop about 10 minutes away from the port. We arrived at Tokashiki Island after about an hour by boat.

We snorkeled at three different spots, and at the first location, we encountered a baby turtle! Later, at the third spot, a turtle was gracefully swimming as well. Additionally, it felt like being in the world of Disney's Finding Nemo, with many beautiful fish swimming around.

The sea was a stunning blue, as if paint had been dropped into it. The weather was sunny, but the wind was strong and it felt quite cold. I think a rash guard is essential to prevent chafing, especially since the water temperature is still low.

The lunch we had on the water, along with Okinawa soba, was very delicious! There seemed to be many foreign participants. Everyone, including the staff, was friendly, and it was a lot of fun.

I would love to participate again next time for diving!

朝は8時前のお迎えで港まで10分くらいのショップへ。船で1時間程度で渡嘉敷島へ到着。
3箇所移動してのシュノーケリングでしたが、
一箇所目で子供の亀に遭遇！
そのあと、三箇所目でも亀が優雅に泳いでいました。その他にも、まるでディズニーのファインディングニモの世界で、たくさんの綺麗なさかなたちが泳いでいました。
海は絵の具を落としたように綺麗な青です。
お天気は晴れでしたが、風が強く、寒いくらいでした。ラッシュガードは擦れ防止になりますし、水温もまだ低いので、必須だと思います。
海の上で食べるお弁当と沖縄ソバがとても美味しかったです！
外国人参加者が多いようです。皆さん、スタッフの方が仲が良く、楽しかったです。
また次はダイビングで参加したいです！

The return boat was scheduled for 13:30, which was quite early, and I was told I wouldn't make it to other tours. However, since we departed early in the morning, we were able to climb to Taiko Rock and catch the boat without any issues.

Many of the other climbers didn't have guides, but thanks to our guide, I was able to notice rocks and trees that I might have missed otherwise. It was also really enjoyable to hear behind-the-scenes stories from when various media came to visit.

帰りの船が13:30と早目で、他のツアーには間に合わないと言われてしまったのですが、こちらは早朝に出発してくれたため、太鼓岩まで登って、無事船にも乗れました。

他の登山客は、割とガイドをつけてない方が多かったのですが、ガイドさんがいてくれるお陰で見逃してしまいそうな岩、木々も目に止めることができ、色々なメディアがやって来たときの裏話なども聞けてとても楽しかったです。

I participated in a round-trip trekking tour to Jomon Sugi that took ten hours. Since the flat trolley path continues for a long time, I think it would have been tough without a guide who shared bits of knowledge along the way. The trail itself is easy to walk, and my 50-year-old mother, who joined me, was able to reach Jomon Sugi safely. Even my sister, who hardly exercises, managed to go without any difficulty, so I don't think there's much to worry about in terms of physical fitness.

縄文杉まで往復十時間のトレッキングツアーに参加しました。
平坦なトロッコ道が長時間続くので、ちょこちょこと知識を教えてくれるガイドさんがいないと、きつかったなと思います。

I participated with my mother, and everyone was very kind and accommodating.

Since it was just after the typhoon, the sea was said to be more beautiful than usual, and it was the most stunning snorkeling experience I've had so far.

The cave was crowded because it was just before the Obon holiday, but even while waiting, the guide shared stories about the sea and delicious gourmet food, so we never felt bored.

The photos were also free, making for a great keepsake. I'm grateful for the wonderful memories created.

母と参加しましたが、皆さんとても親切に対応してくださいました。

台風が過ぎた直後だったこともあり、海がいつもより綺麗だったそうで、今までのシュノーケリングで一番綺麗でした。

I was really looking forward to snorkeling in the beautiful Kerama Islands. The weather in Okinawa has been cloudy with strong winds for the past couple of days. Aside from the weather, the scenery was great, the water quality was excellent, and the table corals and fish were impressive, making for a thrilling tour.

I appreciated the thoughtful gestures from the staff, who lent me a coat and prepared warm tea, considering how cold I was feeling. It cleared up in the afternoon, but as a resort diver, I found the cold quite harsh, so I plan to try again at the end of April to May. Thank you to everyone at the shop. It became a wonderful memory of my first trip to Okinawa.

憧れの慶良間諸島でシュノーケルができるので、とても楽しみにしていました。
沖縄は2・3日前から強風の曇天。
お天気を除けば、景色良し・水質良し・テーブルサンゴ群や魚も迫力ありで迫力のあるツアーでした。
寒がる私を気遣って、スタッフさんがコートを貸してくれたり暖かいお茶を用意してくれたりと、細かな配慮が嬉しかったです。

I was a little nervous about entering the water for the first time, but the explanations were easy to understand, and the important points were repeated several times, which made me feel at ease. I wanted to swim in the beautiful Kerama Blue sea with my friends, so I joined this activity! There were about six people in our group, and we had one instructor with us. I was grateful for the various explanations since I didn't know anything about the islands or the fish! I think it's a good idea to take motion sickness medication beforehand. The scenery of the blue sea and islands on the way to the Kerama Islands was very beautiful. It was a bit chilly in mid-March, but wearing a wetsuit made swimming comfortable. For those who are worried about swimming, you can float with fins and a suit, and there's something like a kickboard to hold onto, so I think you'll feel safe. Those who can swim can freely explore the corals and fish around them. The water was so clear that you could see far into the distance! I was excited to see a sea snake, and some people even spotted a sea turtle. I definitely want to go again!

友人と慶良間ブルーの海で泳いでみたいと思い参加しました！だいたい6人くらいのグループで1人インストラクターさんがついてくれました。島やお魚について何も知らなかったので、色々説明してもらってありがたかったです！酔いどめは飲んでいったほうがいいと思います。ケラマ諸島に向かう間は青い海や島など景色がとてもキレイでした。３月中旬で少し肌寒かったですが、ウェットスーツを着て泳ぐのは大丈夫でした。泳ぎが心配な方もヒレとスーツで浮くし、ビート板のようなものに捕まって連れて行ってくれるので安心かと思います。泳げる方は周りで自由にサンゴや魚たちを見ながら泳げます。遠くの方まで透き通ってとてもキレイでした！わたしはウミヘビをみてワクワクしてましたが、ウミガミを見た方もいました。是非また行きたいです！

It was unfortunately cloudy, but the instructors were very interesting and taught us with great care! You can move and swim very freely, so you can enjoy it at your own pace! They lent us wetsuits, so when we got tired, we could just float and didn't get too exhausted, allowing us to stay until the end! The warm tea on the boat was also delicious!

There were waves, so I couldn't stand for a long time, but it was fun to fall into the sea. The sunset was beautiful too. I finally got to go on a Yakushima tour. I participated with another housewife in her 50s from Hiroshima. The day before, the guide called us, and he picked us up at 4:30 the next morning. This time, we were a group of six, including three university students.

The hiking trail with stones and roots was tougher than I expected. The moss-covered stones were slippery, and if I let my guard down, I could easily fall. I focused on my footing to avoid bothering everyone. Thanks to that, I was able to see Jomon Sugi and the moss forest, which was truly moving.

The guide was experienced and gave us various pieces of advice. He said, "This course is efficient and highly recommended." I completely agree. It's hard, but it's better than splitting it over two days, as we could use our time effectively. By the way, the next day, we enjoyed a drive around Yakushima.

Although I was hit with muscle pain the day after the hike, I was relieved to have made it down safely. I want to give myself a pat on the back. We were blessed with clear weather, making it the best day ever. The only regret is that I didn't have the chance to leisurely gaze at the starry sky. Just before dawn, the stars were falling like rain.

I wonder if I will see the guide again. He was truly impressive. I thought it might be nice to age gracefully like that. Thank you for everything.

念願の屋久島ツアー。広島から50代の主婦２人で参加しました。
前日にガイドさんから電話があり、翌朝4時半にガイドさんが迎えにきてくれました。今回は３人の大学生と計６人のグループで行動しました。
石と根っこの登山道は思った以上に大変でした。苔の生えた石も滑るし、気を許すと転んでしまいます。皆に迷惑をかけてはいけないので足元に集中しました。おかげで縄文杉も、苔の森も見ることができて感動しました。
ガイドさんはベテランで、いろいろアドバイスをいただきました。いわく「このコースは、効率よくまわれておすすめ」と。私も同感。ハードですが、２日に分けて行くより、時間をうまく使えます。ちなみに私たちは翌日、屋久島一周ドライブを楽しみました。
登山翌日は筋肉痛に見舞われたものの、無事に下山できてほっとしています。自分で自分をほめてあげたい。
快晴にも恵まれ、最高の一日でした。残念なのは、星空をゆっくり眺める余裕がなかったこと。夜明け前は、降るような星空でした。
ガイドさん、また会えるかな。さすがでした。あんなふうにすてきに年を取るのもよいかなと思いました。お世話になりました。

On March 15th, I participated with my daughter. Although Yakushima is said to have a lot of rain, we were blessed with perfect trekking weather.
