When I arrived at Awa Port, I received a confirmation call from the guide about tomorrow's trekking. Since I had rented some gear, they brought it to my accommodation around 9:00 PM.

Departure was at 4:20. The guide picked me up by car at the accommodation. We drove along a winding mountain road and arrived at the entrance of Shiratani Unsuikyo. It was drizzling a bit, so we had breakfast in the car. After breakfast, I paid 1,000 yen at the entrance of Shiratani Unsuikyo, and the trekking began! At Shiratani Unsuikyo, famous for its Forest of the Mononoke, the guide had prepared finger puppets of Kodama, which made for some photogenic moments. 〈Impressions〉
- It was very fulfilling and fun! I was worried about covering everything in one day, but with the stamina of a woman in her 20s, it's totally fine even if you don't usually exercise!
- The guide's hospitality was amazing! I don't know if it was personal, but they also gave me tonjiru and dessert. They took a lot of photos, which made for great memories! I was really happy to take a picture with Kodama in the Forest of the Mononoke!!
- I was able to sightsee efficiently! The guide taught us about history and nature. I thought it would be tough to deal with the sweat before heading home if I participated in a half-day tour on the second day.

太鼓岩では天気が回復し、絶景を見ることができた！

縄文杉をみてお昼を食べた。
お昼ではガイドが豚汁を用意してくれた。
その後下山。15:00頃にガイドがゼリーとたんかんジュースをくれた。
トロッコ道を進み、無事に荒川登山口についた。
16:30発のバスに乗り、宿には18:00ついた。

〈感想〉
・とても充実して楽しかった！
1日で巡ることに不安があったが、20代女性の体力があれば普段運動をしていなくても大丈夫！
・ガイドのおもてなしが凄かった！
個人的か分からないが、豚汁やデザートもくれた。また写真もたくさん撮ってくれていい思い出になった！もののけの森でこだまと撮れて本当嬉しかった！！
・効率的に観光できた！
ガイドが歴史や自然について教えてくれた点。
2日目に半日ツアーに参加した場合、帰宅前の汗の処理が大変だと思った点。

I was looking forward to having a guide who was an older man, but it turned out to be a woman. She was very experienced and I was able to hear various stories, which was nice in its own way. She made sure to take us to photogenic spots and helped us take as many pictures as possible at Kabira Bay.

The time spent at each landmark was short, but given that we wanted to see as much as possible within the time frame, it couldn't be helped. On the plus side, we were able to visit many places, which was fulfilling.

Since this was my several visits to Ishigaki Island, there were places I had already been to, but there was also new information, so I never got bored.

おじいのガイドが楽しみだったんですが、女性の方でした。経験豊富で、いろんな話も聞けましたし、それはそれでよかったです。写真写りがいい場所だとか、川平湾でできるだけ写真が撮れるようにと配慮してくれました。

I chose this because it was cheap, but I wish I had read more reviews. I realized that since it's a worldwide site, there are many customers from the continent. The audio guide was just for listening, and I felt like a lunch refugee at the aquarium. The guide was quite businesslike, only focusing on the meeting time and roll call. I don't think it's suitable for those expecting Japanese-style service or for domestic travelers. I felt relieved when the driver said "Welcome back." The content of the tour was good.

The pamphlet was specifically for the tour, so it was very clear about where we were going next and how long it would take, which gave me a great sense of reassurance. Kabira Bay was as beautiful as I had heard, but personally, I preferred Tamatorizaki Observatory!! It was incredibly beautiful even in October.

Although the weather completely obstructed our view of Fuji, this tour was a good way to get an insight into the mountain and visit some cool places around the area. The 4D ride was definitely a highlight, however the lunch was fairly average. Our guide was knowledgeable, personable, and funny and made it a great trip overall. I will be booking other tours with this company during my stay in Japan!

It was a 24 km trekking tour from Jomon Sugi to Taiko Rock to Shiratani Unsuikyo.
We were guided along the entrance while walking the trolley path, enjoying the highlights.
On the way there, we fully enjoyed the unique cedars in nature, and we had a private moment at the Wilson stump, taking plenty of photos.
It was great to see Jomon Sugi before it got crowded.
On the way back, while climbing Tsujitoge, we were able to see wild monkeys and deer up close, which was a rare experience.
We were also introduced to a location that inspired a Studio Ghibli work along the way, adding to the sense of value in the experience.
We were blessed with good weather, so the view from Taiko Rock was amazing.
The area between Taiko Rock and Shiratani Unsuikyo had fresh greenery and streams, and the green illuminated by the light from the shade of the trees was beautiful.
I also enjoyed the return trip from Shiratani Unsuikyo.
I imagined that a long trek might be tough, but both the way there and the return were filled with excitement as we enjoyed the sights.
It may be greedy, but I think it was three times more enjoyable.

Along the way, we took breaks to hydrate at a spring and, if we had time on the way down, we could go down to the river to ice our feet, providing a truly unique experience. Trekking while enjoying the scenery from "Princess Mononoke" took a total of 11 hours round trip, but it felt like no time at all! When I saw Jomon Sugi, I felt an indescribable sense of accomplishment!

I arrived in Osaka on Peach Aviation on September 29. Since I had some time before checking into the hotel, I joined this tour. It's more economical than purchasing the ferry fare and water buffalo cart tickets separately. After the tour, I strolled around the island, but even though it's the end of September, it was over 30°C and blazing hot. Walking around is quite difficult. I definitely recommend renting a bicycle as well. However, the village has coral sand laid out, which can be slippery; I saw several people slip and fall. It's best to explore the outer roads by bicycle and walk around the village.

9月29日にピーチ航空で大阪から到着。ホテルにチェックインするまで時間があるのでこちらのツアーに参加しました。フェリー代と水牛車のチケットを別々に購入するよりお得です(^^)ツアー終了後は徒歩で島を散策しましたが、9月の終わりとは言え30℃越えのカンカン照り。徒歩で回るには無理があります。是非レンタサイクルもつけましょう。ただし集落内はサンゴ砂が敷き詰めてあるため、よく滑るようで、何人も滑ったり転んだりする人を見ました。外周道路は自転車で、集落内は徒歩で散策するのがオススメです。

I didn't research beforehand, so it was disappointing that there was no all-you-can-eat pineapple at the first stop, Nago Pineapple Park.

The stay at the Churaumi Aquarium was three hours, and I thought that would be long, but once I got there, I realized that it wasn't nearly enough time.

Overall, I think the tour was packed with activities.

However, it was a bit disappointing that there were hardly any Japanese participants, and instead of hearing directly from the guide, we only listened to a multilingual audio guide through earphones.

It was my first trip to Yakushima. I was torn between the Jomon Sugi course and the Shiratani Unsuikyo course, but I found a course that allows you to experience both in one day. I was a bit anxious about trekking from 4 AM to 6 PM, but thanks to our guide, I was able to enjoy the forest of Yakushima, where the Kodama (tree spirits) are said to reside. The shuttle service from the hotel was very helpful. I was able to smoothly arrange for the boat, water buffalo, and cycling. I paid 300 yen for an hour to upgrade to an electric bike on-site, which was a good decision since the roads were sandy and had unexpected ups and downs. Taketomi Island is a wonderful place. You can walk around the village, but definitely try to bike to Nishizaki Pier and Kondoi Beach. You'll be amazed!

The Shiratani Unsuikyo in the rain was nice too, with clear air, but I want to come back for a revenge visit on a sunny day next time.

As for the tour itself, we were very satisfied and grateful!! The tour guide was really kind and handled the troubles of the Chinese tourists quickly and smartly, looking very cool while doing so!!

On the day of the tour, our guide, Komano, was attentive to all the members, regardless of their age or physical ability. Each of the eight members felt safe and relaxed, allowing us to enjoy the long and challenging journey. I am truly grateful to Komano, our strong and reliable guide, as well as to the younger participants. Their cheerful conversations and singing encouraged us, helping us to overcome the tough parts of the trek. I believe that if even one of them had been missing, my husband and I would not have been able to meet our long-awaited Jomon Sugi. The guide on the mangrove cruise mentioned that it had been five years since visibility was this poor. In such conditions, we visited Iriomote, Yufu, and Taketomi. The round trip from Iriomote to Yufu was by water buffalo cart. I was surprised at how smart the buffalo are! It seems they are more energetic in the rain, and they were faster than I expected. The Taketomi tour was a scenic ride around the island in the water buffalo cart. I thought it would have been even better if the weather had been nice, but it was still very beautiful (о´∀`о). My husband seemed to enjoy the Taketomi tour by water buffalo cart the most. I want to try the glass-bottom boat and the water buffalo cart again. I hope the weather is nice next time. I will participate in the tour again, so please take care of us then.
