In Iriomote, I heard stories about the Iriomote cat, and the mangrove cruise offered beautiful views that I wouldn't normally see. In Yufu and Taketomi, I enjoyed sightseeing while riding on a water buffalo cart. I didn't have time to collect star sand to fill a bottle, so I bought some as a souvenir. The gelato at Yufu Island Chaya was also delicious, so I recommend it!

I traveled alone freely and had a great time. Choosing the bus tour on Taketomi Island was the right decision. Even though it was before the rainy season, cycling in the strong midday sun would have been exhausting due to the heat. The bus driver guided us through the village and to the star sand beach, and most importantly, we could cool off once we returned to the bus. I didn't have high expectations for lunch on Yubu Island, but I was completely wrong; it was very delicious. There was also a guide that matched the dishes with explanations, so I was able to learn the names of Ryukyu cuisine and truly enjoy it. The mangrove tour on Iriomote Island coincided with high tide, so we couldn't see the features, but just listening to the guide's many explanations was a valuable experience. Even as a solo traveler, I was able to enjoy talking with local staff, guides, and other participants in the same tour, asking for photos, and there was no time to feel lonely. I think it's great that you can smoothly visit three islands. Considering the ferry fees and various other costs, the tour price is reasonable and offers good value. I recommend it for those who are not into active activities like stand-up paddleboarding or diving while sightseeing in Ishigaki Island.

The experience at Jomon Sugi left a negative impression. The guide seemed experienced, but the treatment felt rather rough. I found it very unpleasant when they mentioned the large group size and the age of some participants. Although they said to go at our own pace, it felt like they were trying to match the speed of the faster individuals on the way back, and it seemed they weren't paying attention to the surroundings. It felt like the goal was just to finish quickly. I wonder why we had to walk so fast when there was time after we arrived for other parties to return. I'm grateful that I was able to go and come back, but I ended up with a torn fingernail and blood-soaked socks because of the strain. I do not recommend it.

Since my flight was delayed, I arrived at the terminal around 22:40, but I had reserved a Green Car sleeper, so it was fairly comfortable. There was a TV, but I ended up not watching it at all. Aside from the general passengers, there was absolutely no sense of privacy, so I was glad I chose the Green Car sleeper. The restrooms and shower rooms were very clean. It's a shame that the only food available was instant noodles. Beer was sold from a vending machine, but I couldn't buy any after 24:00.

I wanted to see the moss forest that is said to have inspired Princess Mononoke with my own eyes, so I joined this tour. It was a round trip of six hours. The day I participated was the last day of Golden Week, and surprisingly, I was the only participant! I got to have the guide all to myself. Thanks to that, I was able to hear a lot of stories, and it was very educational. Unfortunately, the summit was completely white, and I couldn't see anything, but on the way down, the thick fog created a very mystical and mysterious world that I felt I had entered. I was fortunate to have a great tour guide and wonderful companions, and even as a solo participant, I felt a strong sense of unity. It was tough, but it turned out to be the best experience.
