I'm grateful to our bright and charming guide, Makoto, for taking so many photos! The shuttle service from the hotel to the site was also greatly appreciated since we didn't have a car. We participated as a family of five!
SUP was really enjoyable, and surprisingly not too difficult, so I think anyone can do it. The information about the mangroves and the Blue Cave, as well as details about the shops in Ishigaki, were interesting to hear.
The snorkeling had excellent visibility, and the kids had a great time. It was wonderful to experience the world we had seen on TV and in the media firsthand. I want to go again!

For those who do not participate in activities like snorkeling, I recommend the glass-bottom boat tour in Taketomi Island. However, the water buffalo cart tours are crowded and have very long wait times, which leaves almost no time for free exploration of Taketomi Island afterward. Therefore, I suggest opting for cycling instead of the water buffalo cart course.

Under the guidance of Komecchi, I received a lecture on how to use the snorkeling equipment, and we encountered a sea turtle almost immediately after starting! I was so moved to see a sea turtle up close so quickly, as I didn't expect it at all. 🥹
We were also taken to areas with lots of coral reefs and fish, and they quickly sent us many photos and videos! Initially, I had booked the 9 AM tour, but considering the clarity of the water and the crowds, they recommended switching to the 7 AM tour, which turned out to be a great decision! By 9 AM, there were quite a few more people around.

The full day experience is quite interesting, though most of the cases are only self-guided and if you are not Japanese, there is limited information learned since most of the guided (on the river boat and the bus) are conducted in Japanese. The whole trip is packed with different experiences including a boat trip, water buffalo truck, authentic little towns, beautiful beaches, etc., which were quite satisfactory. The bento for lunch was well prepared as well. Fortunately, I was in a showroom about Taketomi Island with many great displays of local folk items, culture, and a short movie theatre with air conditioning that allowed me to spend the time during the rain learning many things about Taketomi culture. Also, there is English and Chinese explanation as well.
The full day experience is quite interesting though most of the cases are only self-guided and if you are not Japanese, there is limited information learnt since most of the guided (on the river boat and the bus) are conducted in Japanese. The guided device for foreigners had very limited information compared with the length of what the guides said. My guided device seems malfuntioned as it is not working probably in the middle of the trip, which really lessened the information I could learn. Haven't said that, the whole trip is packed with difference experiences with boat trip, water buffalo truck, authentic little towns, beautiful beaches etc which were quite satisfactory. The bento in lunch was well prepared as well. There was a huge rain but fortunately I was in a showroom about the Taketomi Island with many great displays of local folk items, culture, and short movie theatre with air conditioned that made me spend the time during the rain to learn many things about the Taketomi Culture. Also, there is English and Chinese explanation as well.

I decided to try snorkeling for the first time in Ishigaki Island and joined this Blue Cave snorkeling tour. In a word, it was a hit! It was an absolutely amazing experience!! The guide was very kind, always ensuring our safety while keeping us entertained, which made me feel very secure and turned it into a truly moving experience.
In the clear blue sea, you can encounter Nemo and Dory!! Unfortunately, I didn’t meet Crush, but I look forward to that encounter next time.
They also provided a pleasant pick-up service to the hotel, and the guide's talk in the car was full of humor. They shared many recommendations for local restaurants, so getting the latest information directly from them is definitely better than relying on past SMS posts.

We participated in our first stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) experience and sea turtle snorkeling as a family of five on Miyako Island. It was our first time doing SUP, but the staff were very cheerful and kind, which made us feel safe and glad we participated. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any sea turtles while snorkeling, but a funny guy from Kansai with a wonderful smile worked hard to take pictures with Nemo, and we are grateful for the lovely memories captured in those photos. I arrived at Kaimanjima for the 22:20 start time. It was my first time on a remote island, and I was nervous since there were almost no streetlights.
I managed to pit in early at what seemed like the meeting place, and when I stepped outside, fireflies were dancing around, and the sky was filled with stars 🌌. I was so impressed by the beautiful sky, just like when I was a child (;[];)
Thanks to Afro-san's appearance, I recognized him right away, and we moved to the spot with just my phone as a light source. When I turned it off, the surroundings were filled with stars 🌟. It was the first time I saw the Milky Way so clearly down low. I've participated in several starry sky tours, but this was the most beautiful one yet.
He also gave precise pose advice for the photos, and we finished quickly! It seems the retouched photos will arrive in about a week. I'm looking forward to it ⸝⸝> ̫ <⸝⸝ ︎
Since the photos are taken one group at a time, you can enjoy yourself without worrying, so I highly recommend it.

アフロさんの見た目のお陰で直ぐに分かって、スポットへ移動は携帯のみ持参。ライト代わり。消したら周りは星一面🌟 天の川があんなに下の方にクッキリ見えたの初めてです。 星空ツアーいくつか参加しましたが、過去一綺麗でした。

We participated as a family of four. After the typhoon, the event was rescheduled by a day, and thanks to that, the sea was clear and very beautiful. Our guide, Hikaru, was very kind and attentive, allowing us to enjoy the sea with peace of mind. The various stories shared were also enjoyable. We challenged ourselves to snorkeling for the first time as a family of four. At first, we were a bit anxious, but our guide, Hikaru, provided thorough and appropriate explanations, and we truly enjoyed the experience from start to finish! We were able to see sea turtles up close, and the photos taken were absolutely beautiful—almost identical in quality to those on the website. We also got fantastic family shots with the sea turtles, and I couldn't be more satisfied. Additionally, we were grateful for the video recording as well. They cover the points listed in the guidebook, so they provide detailed explanations. It's easy to review later, and they also take photos. There is a shuttle service to the hotel, and they offer sightseeing recommendations along the way.
One point to note is that those who lack stamina should be careful. Since there is only one guide, they walk at the front, so if you fall behind, you might get left behind. They will notice and wait for you, but while waiting, they will be giving sightseeing explanations, so if you are late, you won't be able to hear the guide's content. I participated with my adult child. I was quite anxious about the 8-kilometer one-way trek on the trolley path, but the guide shared many stories and took breaks at just the right times, and before I knew it, we were at the entrance to the hiking trail.
The hike was of intermediate difficulty. There were photo spots along the way, including Yakusugi trees, which really boosted my energy. I'm glad I went.

トロッコ道が片道8キロあるのがとても不安でしたが、ガイドさんが沢山お話しして下さり、良いタイミングで休憩を入れてくれるので気がつけば登山道の入り口でした。

The hiking trail is well-maintained, so there's no chance of getting lost, but I definitely felt that having a guide was essential. Not only did they provide explanations at the highlights, but they also managed the pace and breaks according to each participant's stamina and fatigue level. Thanks to this, I was able to complete the challenge after turning sixty. The course is a grueling one, over 20 km round trip, but the emotional impact of reaching Jomon Sugi is unparalleled; I believe it’s not an exaggeration to say it changed my perspective on life. The joy and sense of accomplishment at the finish line, while dragging my aching feet along the trolley path on the way back, was an experience I could only have here. Thank you to our super guide, Mr. Mitsuhashi, for this wonderful experience.
登山道は整備されており迷うことはないのですがやはりガイドさんは必須と感じました。見所での説明はもちろんのこと参加者ひとりひとりの体力や疲労度を見極めたペース配分や休憩のコントロールをしてもらったおかげで還暦を越えてからのチャレンジでしたがなんとか完走することが出来ました。往復20㎞超えの過酷なコースですがそれだけにたどり着いた縄文杉の感動はひとしおで人生観が変わると言っても過言ではないと思います。帰路の痛む足を引き摺りながらトロッコ道を歩いて迎えるゴール地点での喜びと達成感もここでしか味わえない体験でした。引率していただいたスーパーガイドの三橋さん、素晴らしい体験をありがとうございました。

It was my first time snorkeling, so I was nervous about participating, but there was absolutely no need to worry. The person in charge was Matsuura from Tabiwaku Miyakojima, and they provided very attentive support, allowing us to encounter three sea turtles! Despite the fact that we participated during low tide and the water was shallow, we were able to take many wonderful photos, for which I am grateful! I would love to have the opportunity to do this again! ✨
