The captain prioritized safety while navigating, but due to poor visibility from the heavy rain, I thought it might have been better to suspend the trip. The water buffalo cart was a lot of fun. At Yufu Island, I felt that even though there were fewer lunch options, the quality could be improved a bit.
On Taketomi Island, we had free time! Renting a bicycle is a must. The rain stopped, and we were able to enjoy pleasant cycling and sightseeing. Overall, I’m glad I participated!

It was forecasted to rain, but it cleared up and the tour went smoothly without any issues. The boat ride on the way there was quite bumpy, but no one got seasick. Since it was high tide when we visited the mangroves, I would like to see the low tide state as well. The bus driver to the water buffalo riding spot on Iriomote Island was very entertaining. Bicycles are a must on Taketomi Island. Although it's not a very large island, I thought it would be challenging to cycle around it. Lunch was served buffet-style, and the taste was fairly good.

It was a tour in the afternoon. Due to the typhoon, the course felt a bit tougher than last year, but I was healed by the moss and had a pleasant trekking experience. The guide's stories were enjoyable and it was very good overall. The rental shoes were also comfortable to wear.

We were blessed with clear skies from the morning of the day. Since it had rained the day before, our guide started by saying that today’s theme was "moss," and we began by admiring the moss sparkling with morning dew.
There were some unexpectedly tricky spots along the trail, but the guide carefully explained the characteristics of various trees in the forest, the types of moss, and the footprints left by deer, as well as photo spots, making the trekking experience exciting from start to finish.

今回は石垣島からの日帰り半日、午後ツアー参加でしたが、目的地である上原港便が欠航でした。最終的な移動方法は、石垣島→大原港到着後、バスにて上原港へ移動、その後ツアー参加。と言った流れでしたが、事前の連絡で事細かに説明いただき、実は不安がありましたが、すんなり移動完了！
その辺りの説明も頂けて安心して参加することができました。
本題のツアーなのですが、家族4人でのカヌーツアー。4歳と6歳とで実は不安もありましたが、全く問題なく楽しむ事が出来ました。子供達も初めての経験に大興奮！笑顔とはしゃぐ声が絶えませんでした。マングローブの神秘的な世界と、そこに住む生き物達。大自然と触れ合った大人も子供も癒された時間でした。ガイドの佐藤潤さんもいつも優しく声を掛けてくれて、安心して楽しむ事が出来ました。
ツアー終了後はシャワーも浴びて、さっぱり。集合場所まで送迎して頂き終了。
最後はバスが出るまで手を振ってのお見送りまでしてもらえて大満足の半日でした。
子供もまた行きたいと大はしゃぎで帰路に着く事が出来ました。

Because Yakushima has a lot of rain, you can see plenty of moss. I was able to see, touch, and experience it. There are many footpaths, so it was a good decision to borrow shoes. The guide was very kind, and I really enjoyed the homemade juice.

Compared to other mountains at the same elevation, there were many flat paths, so it wasn't as challenging as I expected.
I ordered a bento, and it was very delicious.

I was able to enjoy the atmosphere of Taketomi Island. I think the lack of time was my own mistake.
However, I was really frustrated that I couldn't hear the voice of the water buffalo cart guide. I was at the back of a group of about eight people. The manners of the elderly participants in the group were the worst. They were talking on their cell phones and starting casual conversations. I wanted to enjoy a relaxing time, but they kept interrupting the beautiful folk songs...
If the service is so different between the front and back, I wish the price would reflect that. It was frustrating not to hear the guide's voice, and it ruined the experience.

As I paddled the canoe and felt the wind, the fatigue of everyday life seemed to fade away.
The sounds of birds echoing in the mangrove forest and the light reflecting on the water's surface were truly beautiful, providing an incredible soothing effect. I requested a starry sky photo for the first time, and the person was very friendly, allowing us to have a fun time while laughing together! Since it was a period with a large moon, the photos turned out quite bright, beautifully capturing the moonlight, and the starry sky reflected on the sea looked stunning, almost like daytime! I went with my 3-year-old son and my mother (grandmother), and although our time was short, we enjoyed feeding the water buffalo on Yubu Island, seeing many butterflies, and eating ice cream!

I was overwhelmed by the large mangroves! The explanations from our instructor, Seichan, were really interesting. Learning about the plants and creatures that live in the brackish water was incredibly educational. Kayaking through the great outdoors while thinking about how these species have adapted over many years was an invaluable experience. Also, I was excited to hear that the Adan is modeled after a certain famous manga, as I'm a big fan of the original work. If the great treasure is found, it might become a popular spot, so I want to go again before that happens! (laughs)

I started walking around 6 AM and returned to the trailhead at 4 PM, walking for a full 10 hours. The guide's stories were enjoyable, and I had a great time with the people I walked with. I forgot to pick up my lunch in the morning, but thanks to the staff's quick thinking, it worked out. In the afternoon, it started pouring rain, and we walked on a path like a waterfall, but thanks to the rental rain gear and shoes, I was able to enjoy the typical Yakushima weather.
朝6時ごろから歩き始めて16時に登山口まで帰ってきてまるまる10時間歩きました。
ガイドさんのお話も楽しいし一緒に歩く人たちとも和気あいあいと楽しい時間を過ごせました。朝お弁当のピックアップを忘れてしまいましたが、スタッフのファインプレーでなんとかなりました。午後から大雨になり滝のような道を歩きましたが、レンタル雨具や靴のお陰で屋久島らしい天候で楽しめました。

Since we weren't sure about the weather, we made a reservation the night before, but on the day of the tour, everything was handled efficiently. The instructor was a lovely person with a sun-kissed tan and a great smile. They were knowledgeable about the mangroves of Iriomote Island, sharing interesting facts like encountering crabs and how the mangrove leaves tasted salty. On the day of the hike, Yakushima had unusually nice weather despite the rain. Seven years ago, my visit to Yakushima was canceled due to bad weather from a typhoon, so this was my chance for revenge. The 4:00 AM pickup was a bit tough, but we encouraged each other among the participants, and thanks to our guide's appropriate pacing, we successfully reached the summit. This was my second visit to Shiratani Unsuikyo. I was excited on the ferry to Iriomote Island, and I was thrilled to see the mangroves. Although I didn't see the wildcat, I really felt the abundance of nature. On the return water buffalo cart from Yufu Island, I was captivated by the guide's sanshin and singing, while the water buffalo took a rest... I was able to spend a relaxing time.
