It was great to be able to enjoy the beautiful nature of Hokkaido on a day trip from Sapporo. It was reassuring and comfortable to leave the long-distance driving to the driver and relax in the car. The Shikotsu Lake Ice Festival was canceled due to the warm winter causing the ice to melt, but it was a very fulfilling and enjoyable tour. Two-thirds of the tour participants were inbound travelers, but the guide provided explanations in two languages, so there were no issues. I chose this course because even though it's a bit more expensive, it allows for an efficient visit to two locations. With the cheaper course, the bus had unreserved seating, which meant I would have to line up each time, leading to a loss of time. When I actually went, there was a heavy snow warning, and the regular bus service was uncertain. Since it was a sightseeing bus, I didn't have to worry about the return bus not showing up, allowing me to use my time effectively. There were also some guides for minor sightseeing spots, which was nice.

It's been 20 years since I visited Hokkaido in winter. Originally, I planned to participate in an event, but since I happened to get a ticket for the last flight the next day, I decided to include a bus tour as well. There were only three Japanese participants, including us, on a fully booked bus. Despite that, our guide skillfully used both Japanese and Chinese to kindly and thoroughly explain the sights we saw from the bus, as well as recommend souvenirs and food, making it a very enjoyable tour.

Traveling around Noboribetsu, Lake Toya, Showa Shinzan, and Lake Shikotsu without a rental car can be quite challenging. However, this tour allowed us to reach each destination while receiving various guidance during the bus ride, and we had a reasonable amount of free time at each location, so it wasn't the typical rushed tour. It might have been a coincidence, but the fact that participants from overseas also managed to keep to the schedule without being late was likely due to the free time that was allocated. I'm grateful to everyone who participated together.

バス満席の中、日本人の参加者は私たちを含め3名だけ。そんな中ガイドさんは、日本語・中国語を上手に使って車窓から見えるものや、お勧めの土産や食べ物など親切にそして丁寧に説明してくれ、とても楽しいツアーでした。

Since it was right in the middle of the Snow Festival, everywhere was crowded. The meeting point in the morning was a bit hard to find, but we were able to board the bus safely and headed straight to Jigokudani. The guide was considerate of each passenger. The announcements regarding precautions just before arriving at each spot and the departure times were clear. I was impressed that the driver bowed every time we got on and off the bus. The timing of the tour's schedule was just right. There were several restroom breaks, which were very helpful.

One disappointing thing was that the timing of the restroom break at the Mushroom Kingdom in Otaki Town was just before lunch. There were so many delicious options like mushroom curry bread and tempura that I really wanted to try, but in the end, I had to settle for just mushroom soup.

音声での情報が多かったので、とても勉強になりました。

It was a tour with a diverse group of 12 members, including a Chinese family, two friends from the Philippines, and three friends from Japan, along with a Chinese driver. I'm glad I was able to see both Noboribetsu and Showa Shinzan, and to attend the Shikotsu Lake Ice Waterfall Festival, which is only held in winter. If I had to say something, I wish I could have stayed for the light-up longer.

I was surprised that out of 45 tour participants, I was the only Japanese person. It seems that more people are coming from abroad now.

There were nearly 40 participants today, and I was the only Japanese person. The guide was from Shanghai and spoke Chinese, English, and Japanese. That's impressive. Lunch was free, but while I was eating scallop fried rice at a recommended restaurant, a few people from the same bus came in. I thought it might be difficult to make detailed orders, but the guide appeared and took the orders together with the staff. I was impressed that both the staff and the customers were very helpful. Unfortunately, the wind was strong, so I couldn't fully enjoy the beauty of the lake, but I was able to feel the nature that is not just beautiful. What left a strong impression on me personally was Showa Shinzan. I was able to see it up close from near the ropeway station of Mount Usu. Smoke was coming out from various places on the mountain. Perhaps due to the high surface temperature, there were areas without snow, giving it a rugged feel. I'm really glad I participated.

At first, I was nervous because the driver was Chinese and everyone around was also of Chinese descent. However, when I mistakenly went to Toyohira Valley instead of Jozankei, the driver kindly took me back, and when I dropped my smartphone during my free time and panicked, they waited for me. They were very kind. The time management was just right; I could only spend an hour in Jozankei due to the mix-up and couldn't enjoy the hot springs, but I had plenty of time to relax in Otaru. I was able to walk through Lover's Park quickly. Thank you very much, even on New Year's Eve. I had a great time.

While listening to the audio guide through my earphones, I visited Lake Toya and Lake Shikotsu for the first time. The snowy scenery was incredibly beautiful thanks to the favorable weather. From the window of the hotel restaurant where we stopped for lunch, I enjoyed a wonderful view that looked like a postcard, along with elegantly arranged kaiseki cuisine. I was very satisfied to be part of this tour.
