"I was born into a 300-year-old ryokan family and found myself following in their footsteps", says Seiichiro Tokuda, the 13th head of the family. With a mission to pass on the "entrusted items" that have been handed down from generation to generation, he is sharing the hidden charms of Miyazu.
The Great Hall on the third floor are representing the height of Meiji-era architecture. The most distinctive feature is the oriage-gotenjo ceiling, which is curved around the perimeter to form a latticework. This is a very elegant structure used in temples and rooms of shoguns and feudal lords.
Yosako Koumizu is a scroll measuring 9 meters in length and is displayed in the middle corridor connecting the two buildings. It beautifully depicts the area from Amanohashidate to Cape Kyogamisaki at the tip of the Tango Peninsula, acting as a map for the Edo period.
Seikirou has been loved by many writers and artists. These artists and others felt something in this space that stirred their creative genius.
During the tour of the ryokan, you will be hear interesting episodes related to the great writers who stayed here!
"Enjoy Miyazu kaiseki cuisine created by a chef, who carefully examines the seasonal fish caught that day. The menu features a variety of Tango's delicious foods such as Miyazu's soul food ""Ugo"" and delicious local rice.
The pride of the "Kyoto of the sea", as Miyazu is called, is the abundance of foods nurtured by the convergence of all nature: mountains, rivers, and the sea. Inheriting the wisdom of their ancestors, the technique of making the best use of ingredients in any season has a strong tradition.
