Tokyo
What a great way to tour and navigate around the tourist spots of Tokyo. The open top makes for good views of the city and landscape. We took full advantage of the 1 day pass, hopping off at different points in the city. We started Friday afternoon until Saturday afternoon. Our favorite stop was Asakusa Kanakawado the closest stop to the Senso-ji Temple. We ended up there both days to see even more sites. The wait time between buses was enough to explore and hop back on. Three routes cover a vast area and you probably need more than a day pass. This is a great way to maximize your time in Toyko, you don’t have to figure out a complicated metro map or wonder when you get out of the metro station which direction your destination is in. The audio guide was informative and staff member was available to answer your questions. For those who like the double-decker bus experience, you won't be disappointed.
This tour was very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Although my intended package wasn't available, they suggested another similar one which was amazing as well.nThe tour guide was very knowledgeable and nice.nI will most certainly recommend this tour to others.
The ticket we bought was valid for 24 hours so we used it for 2 days. We started at 4 in the afternoon and continued on until the next day. The service was very efficient. I missed the bus in just a matter of 30 seconds as it drove right past me. I was not prepared to run after it. It was no big deal as I caught the next one since I was in no rush. I had a schedule with me so I was able to get a nice cup of coffee and shopped for a bit and made sure I was there at least 10 minutes before schedule! You need to plan your route and sight seeing carefully.
I went on 2 routes. The Tokyo Sky Tree and the Odaiba route. Both had their own charms. Would recommend the Odaiba route after sunset and the Sky tree route during the day. The Odaiba route was very scenic at night because of the rainbow bridge , Tokyo Tower and the skyline was just breath taking. Hopped off at the Tokyo Sky Tree the next day. Went up the tower for the amazing view. I was there pretty early I suppose hence the queue was not bad at all. The stop was pretty close by and if you could not find your way back to the bus stop, just ask people around you. Everyone was extremely helpful. Japanese would go out of their way to show you where the bus stop is. They would physically bring you there. You just tell them it’s the sky hop on hop off bus and they will bring you there.
If you are tight for time, and want to see as much of Tokyo as you can in that short period of time, this would be your best shot. I had a great time. My time in Tokyo was limited so I was glad I got on this tour bus.
The one we got on was an open top. Super punctual. The bus would be comfortable on a good day since there are no seats available downstairs. Therefore there’s limited space when it rains. Only 4 seats in the front row is covered while the rest is open hence the chances of getting those 4 seats? Very very very slim. And those who gets the seats in front would not hop off the bus. Our experience was 2 teenagers hogged all 4 front row seats to themselves.
Apart from the rain, it would have been a wonderful experience. You get to see so many interesting sites which we would not have seen by metro underground such as the Tokyo tower, the rainbow bridge, and the sky tree. This would have been the perfect tour on a lovely sunny weather. We sat towards the front of the bus… so we were sheltered from the strong winds, not the rain. I could not imagine sitting in the back in the wet, cold and with the freezing wind blowing. I glad we got shielded from the wind at least. However we saw some Japanese school kids at the back having an awesome time with the strong wind blowing in their faces, taking selfies, laughing and having so much fun.
The bus was not full perhaps because of the weather. We had 3 children under 5 in which we bought tickets for them too because if you do not, they would have to be seated on your lap. However if you have hyper active children… perhaps being on your lap could be a safer choice. Our kids enjoyed the ride and the view. When they are tired, they could just sleep comfortably leaning on you without falling over as the bus ride was very smooth! The driver was excellent. Even my daughter who is prone to motion sickness felt super.
Overall, it was a good experience. The commentary played correctly, at the correct venue and it was pretty informative. The adults appreciated the commentary while the kids enjoyed the view.
The guide was very helpful and spoke perfect English. Although I could not see Mt. fuji due to the bad weather, the service was really good and we had yum traditional Japanese lunch. And the last section 'Fuji Airways' was a big surprise, i have never expected it could be that awesome! I think i will definitely join this tour again in a nice weather day^^
Thank you for joining our tour. We appreciate your message. We will share this massage with our guides. Thank you again!
This tour was a little different, as you get free time to explore the various areas without a guide (they can give helpful tips but don't walk with you) and then meet up again. I liked this, because I could see exactly what I wanted and try lots of sweets. It was nice to be able to choose the drop-off location, very convenient. We had good weather too, lucky!
Thank you very much for joining our tour and your comment.
We are very happy to hear that you have enjoyed Tokyo and our tour.
We hope you had great time for your whole stay in Japan and please visit Tokyo again sometime!
Thank you!
The lack of a roof and the high position provided a great view. When we drove on the Metropolitan Expressway, it was thrilling and really raised my spirits. We stopped for a while where we could see the Tokyo Skytree straight ahead, so we were able to take some great photos. However, you need to dress warmly because it gets cold with the wind rushing by.
We had a great experience with Veltra... we bought the ticket and was very easy to find the location to exchange the tickets. The tour was awesome, always on time, clean bus with pleasant people and good information about the city. We had a great time in Tokyo and we discovered many places in Tokyo that probably we wouldn't find without this tour. Our main highlight was the Skytree tower (the tower has 2 levels, we went to both, they charge each level separated, but was worth to visit both), Asakusa temple (we spent a lot of time there, beautiful location and lots of shopping), Tokyo Tower (also has 2 levels, we just visited one as the second level was closed due the winds), and many more. Highly recommended tour. We really enjoyed it.
I found the whole experience very simple and straightforward with all the required information being easily to hand. I would definitely recommend this site for ease of use and clarity of information.
Difficult to purchase correct ticket on internet. Ticket clerk totally inflexible when we requested travel on the non stop bus in stead of the hop on hop off. Same company, same busses, plenty of free seats on both busses but it was IMPOSSIBLE to change ticket. I think you need to be a bit flexible. Not sure I would recommend to a friend. I have used open top bus in London & New York. A lot more user friendly.
Me and my husband purchased the Tokyo Sky Bus Tickets through Veltra's website and scheduled the tour for the next day. We received the voucher through e-mail and it was really easy to get our tickets the next day! Their office is really close to the Tokyo Station and the bus take off from there. We did the 3 routes on the same day and they were all really nice. On the blue route, we stopped at Asakusa temple ! They have a lot of little shops and food tends there... all of the typical things! On green route, we headed to the fish market, we had incredible sushi there and the quality of the food was great and of course really fresh! For our last route, (the purple one) we stopped on Roppongi hills and it was really pleasant to finish our day there and have some dinner. They have really nice stores and all kind of restaurants, cafes, etc. We had dinner at this Italian place called Il Ritrovo and the pizza, pasta and price there were great! You can get the Restaurants map at the entrance of the mall and there you can check all the options and price rates, it was great!
Our only complain it was the audio on the green bus that was not working and we couldn't hear the route.
Overall we had a really nice day!
This was my first time going to Mt.fuji, we departed from Shinjuku, the meeting place was easy to find (even for someone who doesn't know Japanese). We arrived at the fifth station at around 11:30, the bus was comfortable so I was basically sleeping all the way to Mt. fuji. The weather was really nice, so I could clearly see Mt.fuji, lucky haha! We had an English speaking guide on that day, she is very kind and can speak good English. I am planning to go Mt. fuji again sometime during the autumn, and will definitely join this tour again!!
Coming all the way from Australia, and being our first time in Tokyo. My friend and I thought the hop on hop off bus tour was a great way to see the whole of Tokyo in one day.
We came out under the Skytree tower was a great start to our tour of Tokyo, the staff were very helpful in showing where the Hop on Hop off bus office was. It was very easy to find and we got some great snaps of the Skytree tower as we walked to the office. We were pleased that the buses were frequent so we only waited a few minutes until the next bus arrived.
The English audio was fantastic and helped us learn alot about Tokyo and its history. What I liked most about this tour was that all three routes linked up at one stop and at the stop was a Starbucks which we purchased a coffee while we waited for the next bus route. Longest we waited was 20 minutes but was a good break from sight seeing.
Over all I thought this was a great way to see Tokyo in one day, the staff were friendly, a lot to see, the English audio was knowledgable and my friend and I had a great time seeing Tokyo this way. I would recommend this tour to anyone. Thanks :)
The bus was centrally located but not easy to find once you come out of Tokyo Station and if you speak no Japanese. The stuff onboard speaks very little to no English, so it is hard to communicate with them. The guide stuff is not very professional and even rude sometimes. There are no trash cans anywhere on the bus and the guide named Ms.Itsukoshi was laughing at us for bringing an empty coffee cup onboard, rather than find a way to dispose of it... There is absolutely no eating on the bus! Ms.Itsukoshi threw a big scene when my mother who is an elderly person ate a banana onboard simply because we were touring non-stop and there was not enough time between the routes to get food. It was raining cats and dogs that day. The stuff demanded a ticket outside before you get onboard rather than allowing you to come inside out of the rain's way and look for it in the dry. They also have known us. It was the same guides over and over. The stuff refused to give us a raincoat (we asked 2 people!) for walking around, because they covered up the bus. But they did give them to other people before when it just started to rain. The commentary never coincided with the location of the bus. You never knew which" red or white" building it was. The bus was always ontime, which was positive and was not even thrown off balance by bad weather. The stuff closed the roof when it started to rain, which is positive. I have been on many hop on, hop off tours before, this was probably the worst one. I have not seen the stuff so unresponsive and unhelpful to the tourists' needs like I have seen in Tokyo.

Mayumi did a great job in handling the condition on a bad weather condition. Everything was good, and if you havent tried veltra, you should, they are reliable
I bought this as a gift for my parents, they had a great time and said it was a highlight of their time in Japan.
This tour will offer you loads of opportunities to see Mt. Fuji, and in a clear weather you should be able to enjoy magnificent views. On the day I went the weather was not perfect but still managed to catch a few glimpses of the mountain.
According to our guide we were very lucky to be able to go to the 5th Station, as in winter the road is often closed due to the snow fall. At the 5th station you can admire the panoramic view of the 'Japanese Alps' and of course the top of Fuji itself. There is also a big souvenir shop where you can get some nice gifts or a snack (try Fuji-shaped melon pan!).
After that we were transferred to the restaurant for lunch - it was a Japanese style meal and really delicious! People who didn't book lunch had some free time to eat their own lunch or buy something at the spot (there was a small bakery).
Our next stop was Hakone and a picturesque Ashi lake cruise to the reopeway station. I imagine that on a clear day the view from the ropeway would be amazing, but during our trip we were welcomed by a little snow storm, so we couldn't see much. Mt. Komagatake however was really great, really enjoyed a short hike to the shrine at the top.
The guide was super nice, kept us entertained on the us and provided some interesting information as well.
Overall it was a very nice tour and well organised tour and despite of the fact that the weather was not perfect, it was a nice day out of Tokyo.
We loved it our guide Mr Hiro is amazing he really knows what he is talking about. The bus is comfortable and has wifi. The sight seeing of the mount is great but on the afternoon when you do the cable car is quite difficult to see the mount because it is hiding in the clouds. The food is not amazing but it does the job. I strongly recommend this one day trip. Even on the high way before arriving the views are stunning.
I rode all three routes and was able to enjoy the scenery of Tokyo at a leisurely pace, which was very relaxing. Until now, I often traveled by subway, but the view from the second floor of the double-decker bus was excellent, and familiar places looked different from up there.
However, since it was during the Silver Week holiday, it was quite crowded. Although you can get on and off freely, there were times when it was full and I couldn't board, and there were also delays due to traffic, which took quite a bit of time. It might not be suitable for those in a hurry, but my husband and I were very satisfied with the experience.
Enjoyed our trip but I would recommend a two day to really see the sights. We did all three routes in one day, but only stopped at two places in order to complete all three routes. The downside is if you get off the bus, you have to wait for the next bus which maybe an 1 1/2 to 2 hours. They are very punctual in accordance with their schedule. Dress appropriate for the weather as it got really cold in the evening. I'm not sure if they have other closed busses, but ours only had a top deck and considering it was January it was very cold. Also, you can only pickup the tickets at two locations, The company may want to consider having people conductors redeem tickets at all stops for the convenience of the customer. The headsets were usually in line with the sights but sometimes would seem off for the things you were viewing. We have taken various hop on hop off bus tours in cities around the world, generally we find it a great way to get and overview of the city and we generally go back to our favorite spots, time permitting. Overall, we really enjoyed the tour and would definitely recommend it if you are short on time in the city.
It's our first time to travel in Japan and Mt.Fuji is a must-to-see in our list. It didn't take much to book for a trip since Veltra offers a variety of Mt.Fuji tours and hundreds of tours as well. Veltra did an amazing job. From hotel transfers up to the trip and tour itself, everything went perfectly smooth. No hassles, no fuss....I will use Veltra again on my upcoming trip in Korea come May. Thumbs up!
This is a great way to see Tokyo, the open top makes it better than a traditional bus, we had great fun riding around the whole route, picking where we would get off next time around. The girls on the bus were very helpful and the commentary interesting. Highly recommend this.
Whole day with kids!!!! Well organized trip!!! Kids enjoyed everything!!!!!
The guide, Kana-san was superb. She had a pleasant voice, funny and full of knowledge. We had fun and was well taken care of throughout. Lunch was awesome. Mt Fuji is as seen in pictures or even better and breathtaking. This trip was definitely worth the money :)
The weather was amazing. The organisation was even more amazing! The fact that they were so flexible impressed us. We had another unplanned journey to see Fujisan from
Another mountain and it was the best of the best. Hopefully we can do this again with all the family members. Good and impressive food as well.
This trip was well organised and I love the Japanese tour guide who really take cares of all the group members.
It's the first time we did the hop on- hop off bus tour itinerary in Japan and it was truly a wonderful experience. All members of the family got so excited. The bus was on time in each pick-up station and the bus assistant/receptionist was very friendly and courteous. Though it was freezing cold to stay up the deck, we enjoyed the picture-perfect sight seeing in major tourist destinations in Tokyo. The visit to the shrine in Asakusa was enriching. The sight of the beautiful Tokyo Tower was Lovely and magical. Passing through the colorful Rainbow Bridge on a very cold winter breeze at night time was awesome as we trudged our way to Aqua City at Odaiba on time for the fireworks show across the horizon. What a truly wonderful, exciting and unforgettable experience we had!
The service from the staff in Tokyo were very helpful and kind.
The schedule of the bus was very punctual. We used the 3 routes available to tour the city. My wife and I enjoyed very much the ride in the bus since we we have the chance to sight very important places in Tokyo. We went to the Tokyo Tower, the Sytree, the Senso-Ji temple, Asakasa area as well as Ropongi Hills, Akihabara, Odaiba Island, among other excited places.
The guide of the bus was very helpful and always were ready to help us. I will not hesitate at all to book with Veltra for another Bus tours.
Although the weather was chilly we enjoyed the tour vey much!

It was amazingly well organized. I was picked up in a taxi by my guide, and then taken to the buses where the tour was to begin! All the guides spoke excellent English, and included many highlights including Tokyo tower, Imperial Palace, and an authentic Japanese lunch. Well worth it!
