Mt Fuji 2-Day Climbing Tour from Shinjuku Station with Optional Crater Tour

Amazing experience!! A must do while visiting Japan!

Reviewed by: Kiko & Min, 2019/07/21

I don't know where to start this review except to say this is one of the most amazing experiences in Japan and I wouldn't suggest doing it any other way. I went with my friend and we had an absolutely amazing time. I would like to mention that even the directions about where the meeting location is was very clear. The bus ride was also more comfortable than we expected it to be. We were both a little worried about the hike as we are not too experienced. However, our guide was so kind and helpful and he kept making sure that everyone in our group was feeling okay and that we were all staying hydrated. Our guide was also very good at speaking English so we didn't feel left out at any point. He knew the answers to all of our questions about Mt. Fuji which kept us entertained throughout some of the tougher parts of the hike. We rented a bunch of gear which we highly recommend as it was a very smooth and convenient process to rent and return and the equipment was definitely necessary! I would definitely recommend bringing warm clothes and enough snacks and food as it can be quite expensive on the mountain, or bring enough money as you need to pay to use the toilets as well! The hot spring after the whole climbing experience was a very nice addition and made the trip that much more memorable! Overall, we loved the whole experience and highly recommend it as it was very professional and well-planned which helped ensure it to be a wonderful experience.

Unfortunate weather but really excellent guides

Reviewed by: Kent and Luc, 2019/07/19

So we didn’t summit due to unfortunate weather. The guides however were top notch. They took such good care of us. We were leading the pack and the guides always caught up to us to make sure we were ok and then went back down the mountain to help others. They even called ahead for us to let the mountain hut know we were coming so we wouldn’t wait in the pouring rain and blistering wind. When we came back down, the guides (Ken and Taichi) provided excellent directions. Later on I was caring a bag of trash around and he took it from me and got rid of it. It’s those little attention to detail that made us feel we want to come back and try again in the future. Ken and Taichi are the best. Thanks for taking such good care of us.

Mt Fuji 2-Day Climbing Tour from Shinjuku Station with Optional Crater Tour

Challenging and rewarding

Reviewed by: S Williams, 2019/07/19

Climbing Fujisan was an unforgettable experience. It was a physical challenge and should not be taken lightly. The guides were excellent and took care of every member of the group. It may feel frustrating at times because the walking pace is slow with frequent breaks, but the guides are experienced and know that this is the best way to avoid altitude sickness. Take it easy and enjoy the experience!
Be prepared. It's VERY cold up the top. Take plenty of layers, wrap up warm to make sure you can enjoy the sunrise over Japan.
The trip was a good way of climbing Fujisan since everything was taken care of. The pick-up and drop-off from/to Tokyo was easy, the accommodation and food at 8th station was all arranged for us, and we knew that we were is safe hands with our guides.
The Onsen on the way back to Tokyo was a treat, and helped with recovery after a tough two days of climbing!
It was a very challenge but a very rewarding experience. And the views were spectacular.

Mt Fuji 2-Day Climbing Tour from Shinjuku Station with Optional Crater Tour

Memorable experience of a lifetime!

Reviewed by: Jenny Liu, 2019/07/18

We decided climbing Mt. Fuji was one of the must-do things in Japan. We booked with a guided tour with Veltra, which took a lot of the stress off of planning logistics (transportation, lodging, safety). The climb was difficult as we thought it would be, but the tour made things much easier as we had company and guides who were very knowledgeable about the mountain, including safety tips and sites with deeper spiritual meaning. The hike was difficult as expected, but the guides made things as painless as possible such as giving us breaks when needed and going at a decent pace. My favorite parts of the experience were seeing the beautiful sunrise at the top and learning about different aspects of the mountain that I would not have known going by myself. Mt. Fuji in Japan is a must and although challenging, you feel a sense of accomplishment reaching the summit. To top it all off, we were treated to a nice onsen afterwards. If you are thinking about going, I would bring enough snacks (they help rejuvenate you and make the hike less miserable), good hiking shoes, warm layers, and around 2 liters of water as well as enough money for the bathroom and food at the top. The guides gave us some gloves, which proved to be crucial as it is very cold and you do need your hands for climbing at some point. I would also consider investing in a hiking stick that you can buy at 5th station; it made the hike MUCH easier for me. All in all, Mt. Fuji was a memorable experience and I am so glad to have had company who made the hike more pleasant!

Wonderful experience

Reviewed by: Coco, 2019/07/17

This climbing tour is wonderful because I can step out of my comfort zone. I am not an active person with frequent exercises so this climbing tour is a challenge for me. The long-term walking and cold weather were required for me to overcome. However, with the support of professional tour guides, I went to the top of the Mt Fuji and enjoyed a good view of sunrise. Although the course was exhausting, the result is exciting and worth it. I enjoy this wonderful tour.

Pretty good tour

Reviewed by: Nikki B, 2019/07/14

The tour was definately good value for money as trains to get there on your own and back would work out more expensive. We really did enjoy all the places we went to but time we spent there went so fast I wish we'd booked longer tour. Time flies when you're having fun! Also this is not like a guided tour, it's more like bus tour that takes you to these places and drop you off and you go do your own thing which was good for us. Overall good value for money and definately worth seeing but it's shame we didn't get to spend more time.

Mt Fuji Tour

Reviewed by: Mike D, 2019/07/13

The trip went very smoothly. Levin our tour guide was a knowledgable , professional and excellent communicator. He is a great asset.

The driver and guide were both excellent. We got to see My Fuji despite cloud cover. Levin and the driver saw an opportunity to view the mount and took it. If we waited for the "normal" stop we would have missed the view ( like the majority of other tours).

The lunch that was provided at the Ninja village was great. There was plenty of local food and the service was very good.

The trips to the 5 lakes was excellent. The flight simulator was also a real hoot.

Overall the organisation and events were excellent. A great experience.

Great hike and guide but with communication issues

Reviewed by: Jackie, 2019/07/11

The hike was great and the mountain guide Ken was outstanding. But there was an issue of communication on the before and after the hike. This was supposed to be an English-language tour but it was not really in English. I was lucky there was a Japanese lady in our group who speaks English and became my interpreter. Otherwise I would rate this tour 5.

Amazing trip

Reviewed by: Alexander, 2019/07/11

Me and my two friends were with this trip last week. We had a wonderful experience, and discovered places we might never have encountered ourselves.

The guide was also really friendly with far above standard English, and was very enthusiastic.

The lunch we received in the bus was unfortunately not up to expectation, so for that I would rate it 4/5 stars.

The schedule was on time, and we arrived 20 minutes prior to our timetable.

In all we had a positive experience, and I would recommend people to go in this tour, since it’s not expensive in comparison to other day trips with a guide.

Spectacular day

Japanese punctuality and attention to detail, all in a very simple and unassuming way. Great experience and very well paced and organized.
We were an eclectic crowd and the guide was even discreet enough to just act surprised when somebody asked her why Japanese “Fuji” water was exported to the United States and never drank by the japanese. I think she confused Fiji water with the water from Mount Fuji. Oh lord!...The guide was marvelous and discrete by saying she did not know....

An Incredible Hiking Experience

Reviewed by: Zach, 2019/07/05

Hiking Mt. Fuji was one of the biggest highlights of my trip to Japan. The excursion was very well organized. The meeting location was easy to find and the trip to the rental shop and mountain were comfortable and reasonably quick. Once reaching the 5th station we were introduced to our guide Ikeda who gave us an hour to prepare for the hike. Ikeda was a terrific guide leading us up the mountain at a safe rate to prevent altitude sickness. Even though most of the hike was in rain it was still a lot of fun. I suggest either bringing proper rain gear or renting it if anyone decides to undertake the hike. Overall this is an experience that I would gladly undertake again.

Mt. Fuji Tour from Tokyo with Lake Ashi Cruise and Hakone Ropeway Ride

Not worth the money.

Reviewed by: Amber, 2019/07/02

The entire tour was rushed not sure why as we couldn't do the ropeway, so you would think we would have had extra time. They added a box to the website showing that it was closed after my group had already booked the tour. We took a cruise through the fog, and it was not on the cool pirate boat described and pictured. The cruise was a waste as well because you couldn't see anything. We also went to the museum which is supposed to provide a great view of Fuji but again we couldn't see anything.

Mt. Fuji Tour from Tokyo with Lake Kawaguchi, Oshino Hakkai & Ninja Village / Mt. Fuji Tour with Lunch

Reviewed by: Heather, 2019/07/01

We knew that it was a bus tour, but it was a little cramped compared to other bus tours that we have been part of in Sapporo. I think that is due to that this tour is in Tokyo so more people were on the bus. The tour guide, Irene was very nice and accommodating, despite some rude tour people on the tour bus. As a bit of advice, when you are given a time frame in Japan, you better be punctual or you will be left behind! As we were going to various places, we were on a challenging schedule, so the tour guide let everyone know this at the beginning of the tour, and everyone needs to be respectful of each other's time. Two people did not respect this rule and ended up being left behind at one stop, but made it back to the bus at the next stop, fortunately for them the distance was reachable, but I'm sure had a bit of a walk to catch up. The weather that day did not allow for us to see Mt. Fuji, which was a bummer, but not the fault of the tour guide or the tour experience.

My. Fuji tour with Lake Ashi Cruise

Reviewed by: Christine , 2019/06/28

The tour guide is great unfortunately, the tour itself is not exactly how it disclosed. The bus stop for 5 minutes for one spot to view Mt. Fuji but not the best view at all. As we drove by we saw there are few spots that we can see the Mt. Fuji very clear but the bus just driving by very fast. The ropeway was under construction so they skip that part. This tour claims that we’re supposed to go on a pirate ship to tour Ashi Lake instead we just went on a ferry. We were a little disappointed cause it was not how it disclosed.

Fabulous Fuji.

Reviewed by: Margret Best, 2019/06/27

We only had one full day in Japan on our way home to Australia so we decided to take a tour out to the iconic Mt Fuji. We were picked up right on schedule from our hotel and spent about half an hour collecting other people from various locations before heading out to Mt Fuji. Our guide entertained us along the way with some history and personal anecdotes and even a little sing-along in Japanese. The weather favoured us too, the day being clear and sunny, so we were able to see the peak. The only downside was the cold wind. I was wishing for earmuffs! The cable car ride was cancelled due to the wind but we were able to see a lovely peace park instead. We could have returned to Tokyo on the bus, but we opted for the Bullet train instead. Our guide made all that easy. The experience of seeing those fantastic trains whooshing through the station while we waited for ours was amazing in itself. I'd definitely recommend this tour.

Almost perfect.

Reviewed by: Tiernan, 2019/06/21

Almost everything about this trip was perfect, from the travel guide, to the atmospheric views. The only major con I have is the ropeway ride. They stuff as many people as possible onto oa singular cart so that you can't move or take photos of the views through people's heads. Not a dealbreaker, but it's the reason I wouldn't give this trip a perfect score. 4/5.

OK tour

Reviewed by: Ali, 2019/06/19

The tour was ok. It was good to have a tour guide to help explain things. We were only on the mountain for 30 minutes which was no where near enough time. We needed at least an hour. The boat ride was nice too. The ropeway was closed due to wind so they took us to an aquarium close to the mountain. The aquarium was absolutely awful. There were dead turtles in a few of the tanks. I would have preferred to have headed back to Tokyo a little earlier and skip the aquarium. Most of the folks on our tour complained about the aquarium. Not having a reserved seat on the bullet train was also a disappointment. I would recommend a reserved seat on the bullet train to and from the mountain if you can do it.
